I used to feel as though I belonged when I was at the Monday night support group, held by Mia. But when youre facing real world challenges, not meaning anyones issues are less real, and the same person keeps pushing their way into the spotlight, claiming to be an expert, its time to realize I was never acceptable in their view.Thats why, week after week, month after month, I was never invited to go out with them afterwards.
My experience was unique . Unique in a way I will Never forget. I met more than 7 staff members Gabriella being the highlight of the visit. I must admit there experience could not have been any better than it was . I look forward to future encounters and engagement with the facitlity .
Super friendly and incredibly helpful staff. I went for an appointment that wasnt even for their facility specifically (they allowed another facility to share their space for an event) and they were welcoming to everyone even though we werent there for them.
Horrible, lack real resources, dont call back. And DO NOT call 911 in a mental emergency when youre LGBT, you will get shot and probably killed. This group is a waste of money resources and it takes away from people who actually care.
I came here a few years back to do community service because I have health issues that prevent me from doing outdoor manual labor especially in the summertime. Everyone at The Center was so kind and welcoming. I really enjoyed my time here. For anyone who could use a place you can go and be welcomed I would definitely recommend you check this place out. I know they offer help in HIV/STI testing and can also help with finding mental/medical services. If you are in need of some advice or could just do with seeing a friendly face definitely stop in and say hi!
This experience was new and interesting. The staff smiled, spoke clearly and politely, and didnt rush through the details of stuff. They make sure you understand what youre doing, not only do that you have the knowledge, but also so you understand the importance of everything involved. Almost immediately after opening, I walked inside, was greeted and provided with the clipboard to fill out. I hadnt even gotten to my address and I was called! So being early, especially first thing in the morning on a Monday, helps out. The testing for the first bit wasnt too long, maybe 20 minutes or so, but largely due to the results of the test needing to develop. Conversation was professional and light, nothing awkward. The same with the second test. Quick, easy, in and out, nothing complicated. All told, entire visit lasted maybe an hour, if even that. To top it all off, these people are doing this non-profit. Theyre doing it so they can help the community. Your orientation and/or preference doesnt matter. Theyre here to help you. And yes, its better to know and be informed, than to live not knowing and possibly hurting someone or yourself.Get tested, be aware, possibly save a life
I would give this place 100 stars if I could. It’s amazing that they do these tests completely FREE!If you go anywhere else you will be charged hundreds of dollars for these tests. Which is insane. %90 of the population doesn’t have that kind of money to get tested all the time. The staff is amazing. They are so friendly they make you feel good and calm in the most stressful time for any human.Thank you so much for this amazing facility.
No one wore a mask the person who did my sister hiv test complained about his last job he said he was new and she had to remind him that she wanted to do the hep c test. For the STI she had to schedule an appointment which she had to remind him as well because he didn’t know the process overall it wasn’t a great first experience but she does love the services they provide.
Discreet, helpful staff that are caring without being judgmental. I came in for regular HIV/STI testing and was in and out quickly. Wait times can vary though depending on time and day, but they work to give individual care. They’re a fantastic resource and all testing is free.
The people at the Center are wonderful, kind, considerate and helpful folks. I have been there in terrible moods and they understood and did NOT judge me based on my actions. From the top people to every volunteer, I have been treated with the utmost respect and dignity. I am in a terrible situation and thier kindness and love have been a foundation for me. Without the good people who work there I would have committed self termination months ago.Besides FREE testing there are several groups that meet there on a regular basis, art shows, Drag Queen story time and a plethora of events aimed at community as a whole.♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️
I went there this afternoon to get tested. The volunteer who did my test was very nice and sensitive to my situation. I did have questions she was not knowledgeable about but she brought me to the manager who answered all my questions and referred me to a doctor who could help even more.
I 100% agree with whoever said they had an issue here, went in to get an HIV test and there was an older gentleman who distributed my test and seemed like he did not want to be bothered. After reading the reviews im pretty sure its the same person. I dont know why this older gentleman was so disgruntled. He gave me my test result but since I am aware of the testing time I felt like he could have at least waited a full 10 minutes before shooing me away with my result. i honestly dont know if i want to go back there. If you encounter an older gentleman there especially on the weekends you may want to pick another day just saying
Is a great palace to get tested and get real info and help related to HIV. I felt save and ground visiting this awesome people. The test was fast and quick. I strongly recommend to have a visit to LGBT+ Center Orlando.
I have went here couple of times for testing for myself. I was ALWAYS treated with respect & made welcome.During testing I was educated about HIVSo this lead me to Encourage a friend to come here and get testedBecause I knew the Environment would be pleasantBut on 12/29/18 @ 9am- I walk into the center was greeted by a young man at the front desk VERY NICE great smile, very welcoming.Standing next to the desk was a older white maleThe older man snatched a piece of paper from the front desk( doesn’t say hello, hi anything)As he’s walking away with is back turned towards me speaks Very rudely & nasty say HIV test this way.-I try to explain that I’m not here for testing I’m waiting for a friendHe processed to Steer me in the face Eye 2 EyeHe continues to steer without saying anythingThen as I go to speak, very nasty he says U WANT HIV TEST.I explain again I’m here for a friendHe just steer at me in a very nasty look- I turn to the young man at the front desk and explain to him my presence., he gave a big smile and said ok, no problemI had a seatThe evil old man then says in a very nasty tone where your friend. My friend finally show upShe go back & get tested with the old manLatter my friend says “I don’t think that man like black ppl”-I said why u say thatMy friend said he was VERY MEAN TO MEMy opinion of that man after my experienceHe doesn’t like black ppl- So if you are black and you encounter a tester at this place that fits his descriptionSTAY AWAY -HE DOSNT LIKE BLACK PPL TRUSTif your black then you know what I’m talking about when I say he will give u “The Vibe”Trust
Last time I was there was about 8 months ago, people were making fun of me they were to many youg people th ere making fun of old people.
Its been a while since I last visited the center. And boy I was surprised how much it has changed. The have bigger structure and I like how well maintain it is. The staff are warm and nice but the wait time to get get tested its ridiculous. I feel like theres system can improve. But overa a good center
A place where you can get a free HIV test and its all confidential. Friendly Staff and very personalable counselor. One might be scared to come in but it is worth to know your status. A number is given out, and you wait for your turn, once in the room, they ask normal questions and proceed with the test. they pick your finger of choice and test the blood. While doing so, you go through a questionare until your test result is read. They even offer free STD testing on Mondays from 11-5. Definitely recommend.
Very nice staff ! Wilfredo was super helpful, very professional, and he goes above and beyond to assist the communityThank you guys so much for doing such a great work for our city and our community , we need more people like you in our world nowadays
I am a volunteer here and absolutely love The Center. The staff are all very friendly and understanding and work very hard to provide a safe and helpful environment for the LGBTQ+ community. They offer counseling, HIV and STI testing, multiple groups, and a variety of amazing workshops. It is truly a fantasic place.
Very nice staff and I was in and out in less than an hour for a free std screening. Also free condoms and bracelets. Recommended if you need cheap and professional care.
Legendary and continuing to stay relevant through multiple services, much more than STI testing.Check out their groups - Ive found great new friends even though Ive been very active in the community for years.
My experience as a walk-in client was friendly courteous and professional. This is a great resource and community to be involved with our Hiv and Sti healthcare prevention services.
My visit here was great. I was nervous to get tested but the staff was great and made me feel at ease. Thank you
These people are amazing! They truly care...I prefer to get my std/HIV tests here compared to other companies.
The place was amazing checking temps at the door very friendly staff very informative. I will be back. Thank you for the service you all provide the community
The easiest place to get tested at! I spent MAYBE 30 minutes from the minute I walked in to when I walked out. I would definitely recommend.
Fast and quick service very quiet and clean and lovely place You don’t have to be a part of the LGBT community to go there to get tested it It is so peaceful Inside there One of the best places in Orlando To get tested
Can someone please recommend a good primary care physician that doesnt give attitude, and lets you talk without judgment, or rolling their eyes?
Very professional and friendly staff, genuinely willing to help out, give advice and keep our community healthy and thriving. Thank you for all the work you do
Very nice people and accepting people. Great customer service. Would most definitely recommend to anyone.
The owner was very rude and nasty to me and wouldnt let my children get bikes that he didnt pay for because apparently my kids have to see what they are getting for Christmas and then my children were on they way and he said they had 5 mins in 5pm traffic he made my children cry and hurt there feelings because they were excited and didnt get there bike
Its a nice place as an 11 year old transgender and gay person I love it and its in orlando is the best part i can go there any day
Great place to go to get tested for free. Friend, and helpful staff members.
Terry DeCarlo performed our marriage ceremony on 2/17/2015. Weve been together 27 years and can finally declare our relationship legal as husband and husband 😍😘
Always welcoming willing to answer any questions you may have and judgement free I absolutely love this place!
Very welcoming. Everyone I interacted with is so nice. 100/100 Highly recommended.
Welcoming place to visit for any walk of life. Great testing facility.
I dropped by it was very respectful and welcoming I see this place being a main hub for LGBTQ people in need
All the volunteers and Directors are very friendly. I love that place.
The staff is very friendly and helpful. An indispensable place for the community.
Slow more then an 1hour wait time, line to get hiv tested only one person assisting
Cold and unprofessional. They should be ashamed. Whats the point of giving out numbers if you take them out of order?
This is a special place. Thanks for all you do for our community.
A very nice place. You can take tests for free.
The irony of being deliberately misgendered by the staff at a center that supposedly exists to promote and empower the LGBT community is amusing to say the least.
Show these folks some love!! They are there for everyone
