Ill start by saying my nurse was AMAZING (I had the woman with the upper lip piercing and arm tattoos.) I had a few questions about the testing so I asked her but she wasnt sure if the answers so she left the room to ask my questions. Then some white haired older lady came into my room, did not tell me who she was, told me that I was only there for labs and refused to answer my questions saying youll get a call when we get results and then escorted me out. She also kept the door wide open while this conversation happened which included mentions of the testing we were doing which should have been a private conversation. Her attitude was awful and when I called to file a complaint Im pretty positive I got connected with her on the phone bc she was very defensive, impatient, and seemed to not care about my complaint. So I figured Id just write a public review instead. This lady should not be in healthcare at all.
FYI - This location almost burned down in January 2023, so any reviews posted after that date are either not specific to this location (because its been closed until reopening in June 2024) or are political astroturfing. This location is about the same as any other location: staff does their job and with compassion and relative speed (especially considering the burnout in medical professionals post-pandemic). Ive been to half a dozen PP locations across the country and the Peoria location is same as any other. Corporate phone times are abysmal, but that speaks more to a lack of funding at the organizational level than whether the Peoria branch functions as a medical practice, which it does and quite well. Keep doing good work and fighting the good fight!
Every time I go in, the waiting room will be empty but it takes me 20 minutes to get into my appointments. Every time I’ve gone, the nurses that give me my birth control shot are in horrible moods and make the appointment feel uncomfortable. I had one of them stab the needle in my arm so hard, it left bruising and was sore for days on end. It’s impossible to make appointments and they never answer the phones.
It has become impossible to make appointments. They have messed up my entire transition. You cant make them online, callbacks dont even ring, and youll be on hold for 2 hours trying to talk to anyone. They dont even let you make followups so even if you get lucky once, you cant get any long-term treatment.Dont bother seeking care here, the whole place is rotten.
I had an appointment scheduled for 1:00pm. After sitting in a crowded waiting room for a half an hour, I went up to the front desk to see how much longer my wait would be. I took time off work for my appointment. I was told that they were doing the best they could. So I sat back down and asked the people next to me how long theyd been waiting - over an hour! As I waited, I noticed people, not in uniform going back behind the desk to have conversations with the front desk staff. These werent patients. Perception is reality and I saw an unprofessional staff laughing and hanging out as the waiting room became fuller. By 2:00pm, I went back to the front desk to get my ID and insurance card back. I was told the PA took a long lunch and that was what was taking so long. No apologies, just an excuse. I have long supported Planned Parenthood, but I wont be back. I took time out of my work day to be seen, and instead I was treated like I didnt matter. today was an absolute joke and a complete waste of my time. Before I left, I made sure to wish everyone in the waiting room good luck. Im sure they were there for many more hours.
Wish the one in Pekin would open back up. I’ve only been to this location once and have tried to schedule an appointment with them because I’m having issues and the dates are like 2 to 3 weeks out. U can’t get in direct contact with the office (or any Planned Parenthood office) to reschedule or even be seen same day. I’ve been having some issues and really needed to be seen on the day I made my appointment and they cancelled it the day before. I planned for that appt. Now I have to find somewhere else to go.
I wish I had better things to say about this place, but it’s just generally disorganized and somewhat unprofessional. They’ve messed up faxes for scripts and labs twice now, causing me to go without my prescription and making me do the extra legwork to fix it for them. It’s either a personnel problem or their fax machine needs servicing. As far as “bedside manner” goes, some work could be done there as well. I once had a nurse tell me she didn’t really care about patients, and I’ve been made to feel like a burden a few times. Overall it’s not the absolute worst place around, but you should probably expect some hiccups.
When i felt at a loss for a possible PMDD diagnosis, i looked to the internet and found that planned parenthood is great about listening to your concerns and taking you seriously about PMDD. the privacy here is astounding - they really care about the safety of victims and survivors which is more than i have ever seen from healthcare providers. as a lesbian, i love the inclusiveness of it all gives me a sigh of relief. its hard to find a place where i feel seen as a lesbian. the best part was the low wait times and how easy it is to make appointments!!! i will recommend this place tons to anyone i know
I went to planned parenthood for the abortion pill. I was very nervous but the stuff was really nice and gave me all the information I needed. The only issue was that I had to wait a long time but it may be due to the Covid-19 precautions. I also receive my birth control there too. Overall good place and will return.
Almost everyone is welcoming and you get appointment as soon as you need to get in. Some of the workers need to work on their people skills but other than that, I will go to Peoria over Pekin anyday!
Need to update the calling service. I drove out on my break because the calling service said they were open. I got there and they were closed. Also the website wont let me book an appointment of any kind. Also how do you expect people with full time jobs to get the care we need if youre only open at the times were working?
This place is disgusting. Im glad its closed and hope it stays that way.
Wonderful People and Wonderful Service. They have always been nice and courteous whenever I went.
Very respectful, answered all of my questions. Overall a pleasant experience.
