Despite the rough reviews, by hubs and I transferred here after 2 years at another fertility clinic. The bar was low for us given our last clinic, but we have been BLOWN AWAY at UNCF. And I’m a Duke fan. From day 1, I have felt that the docs really wanted to know me and my history to find solutions to issues instead of finding Valinda’s to temporarily circumvent issues. These docs are LOVELY. I have mostly seen two doc, but have had experiences with 4. Absolutely love the docs!! They are patient, knowledgeable, caring, concerned, and more. I have never had any issues with not getting timely responses on results, questions, scheduling, Amir anything else. Has 100% of the time been within a business day. If you’re hesitant, just give it a try.Shout out to Dr Milroy who is the best! Always good to connect with your doc. And Dr Steiner has also been great making me feel I’m in good hands.
I wish I had Listened to all the 1 star reviews before this one because this place was nothing but a waste of my time. 6 Months in and I complete all my vaccines and what not they required before starting medicine to become pregnant and when it becomes time I message the providers in the clinic to let them know I was ready for my medicine to be sent to my pharmacy. I waited a full week and still had not heard anything (they of all people working in the fertility clinic should know that it is very time sensitive) I did finally get a response once I had called and talked to 3 different people and over a week later. When I called the next day to let them know I was changing clinics because I didnt feel they felt I was important or that they didnt have to respond to me the manger did not apologize or anything just told me I could do all that through the portal. Needless to say that last conversation was the nail in the coffin, Im glad I wont be having people who dont care about something thats VERY important to me. There is no level of care and its almost impossible to get ahold of someone. If you are reading this trying to decide where to go DONT chose here!
Thanks to UNC we have two, healthy babies! We had a great experience here. Everyone was kind a friendly. Our nurse took great care of our needs. I never felt rushed. They communicated very well. Highly recommend!
I had genetic karyotyping done in September 2023, my husband had his done in April of this year after 2 pregnancy losses and have received no results. No one will answer the phone or emails.
If I could leave negative stars I absolutely would. There is only ONE doctor here (Neil Perry) and she works occasionally at best.I recommend staying far away from this medical practice unless you like living a nightmare. Medications were prescribed and un-prescribed without any consideration to me - the patient. Lab tests were ordered and she never went over the results. I waited WEEKS for a call back concerning a problem with a medication - I’m still waiting because they never called back. Ever. There is no real level of care here.I would like to say that there’s ONE employee here who is helpful and wonderful - Reagan.Hundred of dollars and MONTHS later, I still don’t feel well and have had to start over with a new fertility endocrinologist. To anyone considering going to this medical practice, do yourself a favor and run in the other direction. As fast as possible.
*As person who works in healthcare, I am quite particular & did heaps of research who I’m going to consult / see as my doctor esp. fertility issues. After reading lots of reviews & asking healthcare insiders- Dr. Marc Fritz came highly recommended. Husband & I came to see him one fine day & I’ll tell you- Dr. Fritz is not only extremely knowledgeable but he came across as a kind, caring & compassionate individual, explained information in easy to remember & understandable way in a well-paced time. He answered all our questions in a respectable manner. Plus, he was quick-thinking in a sense that on that day I had blood test for diagnostic/genetic testing (saves time & effort). I highly recommend the truly great Dr. Fritz! Thank you Dr. for all that YOU do! You rock! 👏👏👏* The UNC Fertility Clinic - strategically-located, clean, practiced COVID-protocols. Easy to make appointment. Front Desk staff ANNA - was helpful & accomodating.👏👏👏*PATRICE - the phlebotomist, great manners & excellent @ what she do.👏👏 Drawn my blood successfully on the first attempt - vein sharpshooter!😀Summing up, UNC Fertility Clinic - thumbs up!👍👍👍📌Kindly like if you find this review helpful. Thanks.
I am a patient at UNC fertility and extremely happy with services I have received so far. As a health care professional myself I couldn’t have asked for anything different. I had Reagan as my nurse throughout my IVF process and trust when I say she is good, compassionate ,knowledgeable and follows up effectively. Now why would you get a different doctor if you can get Dr Neal Perry. She is awesome, cares for her patients and most importantly very knowledgeable and skillful. I have been happy throughout my process. They all gave me adequate education and information regarding this process and everything when well. I am greatful.Front desk, every-time I walked in the door, she called me by my name, how wonderful is that. They actually know their patients. It’s not just numbers to them. I love itLovelin N and Fai F
This place will bill you for ever and not answer their phones. Despite jumping through every hoop they wanted me to in order to stop receiving a monthly bill, I am now receiving notice they will send my bill to collections.Ive been trying to cancel my billing for over a year now. I sent in a notarized copy of my official request to cancel service as they requested, and still I receive a monthly bill. There is not a single person answering their phones or email at this place. I cant even get a hold of someone at the front desk.Ive been trying to reach them for over a year now.Lol what a joke. Supposedly world class medical system cant even answer a phone.I wonder if they even have any employees left or did everyone leave for some big mysterious reason?????? 😆
I waited 3 months for an appointment and the day arrives. I waited 30 mins and nothing. I called before the appointment to confirm I didnt miss anything. They said no. Then its missed. They didnt call me to tell me it was canceled because I didnt fill out paperwork. However I submitted paperwork BEFORE I COULD SCHEDULE! then I submitted again for a 3rd timr before the appointment! I read and followed the email they sent to me.the email also has some san fransisco number that I called that isnt connected. So sounds like yall need to update your emails you send to patients! Everything on my end was. To laugh and say yah no she isnt going to see you is beyond unacceptable when people like my self have tried so long to get pregnant and wait and your so beyond insensitive! Absolutely unacceptable! To never call me to tell it was canceled when I called 2 times before the appointment is not ok. A complete waste of my time. Dont bother!
My husband and I had a wonderful experience working with UNC Fertility! Dr. Fritz is kind, thorough, and very knowledgeable. He takes his time explaining things and develops a personalized plan for you, all while remaining positive though not giving you false hope. I appreciated his approach and his plan for us yielded successful results! I also had procedures performed by Dr. Peavey and Dr. Young - both were very pleasant and kind providers and the procedures went smoothly. The office is clean and the staff is very friendly and responsive to calls/emails. We feel very thankful for UNC Fertility. I highly, highly recommend!!
Because of UNC fertility I have 2 healthy baby boys and one more on the way :) I can not say enough good things about the entire practice- the front desk are friendly and helpful, the nurses are knowledgeable and kind and the providers speak to you as a peer and work to ensure you understand what your medical plan and needs are. I would like to especially thank NP Anna Degolier, the first provider I’ve ever had who thought to check where my cycle was via an ultrasound before having me start a regimine of medicine to help ovulation (I have PCOS) and in doing so, noticed I had a follicle which could result in ovulation (I was skeptical as we struggled for years and couldn’t conceive without medication) and by a miracle, I am pregnant, no medicine and it is all thanks to Anna’s attention and treating me as an individual and not based on a prescribed course, this baby is all thanks to her and we are so over the moon :)
I first started going to this clinic back in November 2021 and so far the experience has been pleasant. I will say that the communication could be a little better towards the front end of the process, but they have addressed the staff shortage recently, which makes more sense. As were preparing for our first IVF Cycle in December with Nurse Raegan, (She is awesome!!) communication has been excellent. She is very quick to respond and to get us the information we need. We are very excited to be working with her and Dr. Neal-Perry for our transfer.
If I could give this center a million stars, I would. Dr. Fritz was my endocrinologist and I had the most wonderful experience with every encounter. He is extremely knowledgeable and makes you feel very welcome from the beginning. Mindy was my nurse and she is nothing short of a blessing from God. From shots to implantation, she was there day and night for my family.I’m currently pregnant with my first child because of this wonderful facility. I researched and reached out to quite a few clinics when I started this journey, and UNC exceeded all expectations. I will definitely be back for another round with them to expand my family. Look no further - your family starts and infertility stops with UNC Fertility!
The treatment that my husband and I have received at UNC Fertility has been amazing. We went through a year and a half of visits, tests, and referrals before finally arriving at UNC Fertility. From that moment forward, we gained a better understanding of what was going on and how we could achieve pregnancy. The entire staff is sensitive, caring, and friendly. The nurses are amazing and have walked us every step through the IVF process. The doctors are trustworthy and truly are the best at what they do.Communication has been key to settling my anxious mind. Communication through the portal is super quick and you have access to ask questions to anyone you need through there. I chose the email route for our IVF Coordinator and she was amazing. Any questions I had she answered them quickly. This journey has been a lot and we’re only in the beginning phases of it. However, the care and support from UNC Fertility has just been extraordinary. And even that feels cheap saying. I’m beyond thankful to be in their care and have lots of hope for mine and my husband’s future.
I would highly recommend this clinic - I had an overall great experience at UNC Fertility. Being greeted and treated by staff who are kind and who genuinely care about your well-being and end goal is so important - this was especially appreciated when I was going through the tougher times during my journey. Even though they work with dozens of couples at any given time, I never felt like just a number. Dr. Peavey and nurse Mindy hold particularly special places in my heart as they were my super tribe, helping me stay sane, stay positive, and ultimately become pregnant.
In my experience, UNC fertility treated me as a number instead of a patient. Each time I went the doctor/nurses had no idea what the plan was or what the next steps were for me. I had to remind them. Going through infertility is very difficult and it is imperative to have a competent, supportive medical team, which UNC fertility lacks. It’s been a year since I last went and no one has reached out to me to ask if I was still interested in their services. Since then, I’ve changed clinics, complete a round of IVF and delivered my baby a few weeks ago.
This is one of the most supportive groups of physicians, nurses, and staff for patients on the infertility journey. My husband and I were extremely happy with all the care. Dr. Fritz always took extra time to listen to our concerns. His has a gift for counseling patients through difficult times and for setting honest expectations. Kim our nurse was always prompt in getting back to us answering questions and keeping us informed. We were under the care of UNC fertility for several years and feel as if they are family. We are also happy to be adding to our family thanks to all their patience and persistence!
UNC Fertility will always have a special place in my heart and I will be forever grateful to them for helping me through such a scary difficult time in my life. Throughout my experience I never once doubted that I was in the right place and in the best hands. The office is extremely clean, everyone is always professional, and the staff are very responsive. Dr. Fritz and his team are the best and I would 100% recommend them to everyone!
I had nothing but a wonderful experience with UNC Fertility. I could not have asked for a better team to lean on during infertility issues. All the doctors, nurses and staff turned into family throughout the process. They always had smiles on their faces and very welcoming. I saw a different doctor based on my body and their schedules as well as our schedules. This wasnt a bad thing. We had an amazing time with all of them. Our nurse Mindy was absolutely phenomenal. I could not have asked for a better person by our side. I know the rest of the nurses are awesome also I just didnt get the one on one with them. When we graduated from there it was very bittersweet. I hated to go but knew that we were leaving because of success. We still have frozen babies that are worth the wait and when we are ready for another we will go back again. I cannot complain about the finances because our insurance covered almost all of it. However, even if it didnt we were prepared to do what it took to get to where we wanted to be. All departments were more than happy to answer any questions we had. There arent enough stars for this review in my opinion. :-) We loved UNC Fertility and would do it all over again and again and again.
Dr. Fritz may initially come off a little brusque, but he 100% cares about his patients, will give you whatever time you need when it comes to counseling and he knows his stuff.Nurse Wendy was an amazing IVF coordinator and she was always there to answer any clarifying questions I had.I know patient experience is everything, and other than the wait times (which are absolutely inevitable at a busy/successful fertility clinic), I had nothing but good experiences.
UNC Fertility and the wonderful staff are incredible. Infertility is something I wouldnt wish upon anyone, and it is essential to have a place to get answers, work with knowledgeable and caring people who will be honest with you, and who will be with you every step of the way. We are forever grateful and indebted to the wonderful doctors and nursing staff at UNC Fertility. I feel as though every member of their team has had a role in creating our family, and for that I can never repay them. They are passionate, real people, who care about their patients, go the extra mile, and treat you as a priority. Thank you UNC Fertility!
When we first found UNC fertility we had no idea what to expect. Not from the overall process, not from a financial point of view, or even what service we needed exactly. From our first conversations about procedures and services with Dr. Young until the moment we graduated and transitioned to the OBGYN, we have felt cared for by this amazing team. Our options were discussed until we understood and were comfortable with everything, our nurse (Mindy) was available day and night to answer questions, the doctors were very warm and professional, the phlebotomist always had time for a personal chat and even the lab technician and embryologist made us feel at ease. They made us feel more like friends or family than patients while taking great care of my wife and our embryos. We felt very welcome and cared for at every visit and interaction weve had with the entire team.
This review is strictly for the billing department and has nothing to do with the quality of care provided by the doctors at UNC Fertility. One thing everyone should know before handing money over UNC Fertility is that they would hoard your money and it takes months for you to get it back. Unfortunately, i had do cancel my IVF cycle after egg retrieval, which means I should get a refund for the services not rendered. I contacted the billing department multiple times and was told I needed to wait for all the insurance claims to be processed. I thought they were referring to the claims specifically associated with the cancelled IVF cycle (makes sense) but no, they are referring to ALL insurance claims. This means that as long as I continue receiving care from UNC and filing for insurance, I would not see my refund, which is thousands of dollars. Essentially forcing me to leave UNC Fertility.I think the insurance filing practice is questionable to say the least and should definitely be looked into. UNC charges for procedures upfront and then file for insurance. For other providers I receive care from, they would indicate that the patients have paid upfront so the insurance company would issue a check for reimbursement directly to the patients. UNC Fertility do not tell insurance company the patients have paid upfront. As a result, the insurance company issues checks to UNC. Now they have both the money you paid upfront and the money insurance company pays them. Remember they do not refund until ALL insurances claims are processed and they only process refund once every month. Quote their business office manager, It is the policy of the practice to refund once all claims are finalized. Whoever sets up this policy do not have any sympathy for what families are going through. Not only do they have to deal with the emotional and physical agony, they have to deal with additional financial stress you choose to impose on them. Also, in todays world, who does not have online billing services? I think the reason they do not want their patients to have quick access to billing information is to confuse them. I cannot say for sure if any fraud is in place but is sure does make people wonder.P.S. we love Dr. Fritz.
We switched clinics after a year with Carolina Conceptions. We needed a change after a loss and found Dr. Bressler at UNC Fertility. She began with some hypotheses based on our two previous IVF cycles and immediately scheduled my husband and I for follow-up diagnostic testing. Dr. B also got feedback from the other doctors and made us feel like she was doing everything she could to get us some answers, even though we didnt end up with anything new. When we jumped into our third IVF cycle, we were cautiously optimistic given that not much had changed, but in the final days before the egg retrieval, Dr. B encouraged us to go one extra day beyond what shed normally recommend based on advice from her colleagues. We did and ended up with the most successful egg retrieval weve had yet. Even though she didnt do the egg retrieval procedure, she checked in later that day to celebrate the great results. She continued checking in throughout the week and made us feel like she was just as invested as we were in our embryos. We did a frozen embryo transfer a few weeks later and ended up with a positive pregnancy test! When I experienced heavy bleeding after a week, Dr. B treated us with empathy and clarity. She encouraged us to continue scheduling ultrasounds as we needed for our own sanity.Honestly, when we finally graduated and started to see our Ob-Gyn, we had some culture shock. We were just a number to the Ob-Gyns office and we realized how spoiled we had been at UNC Fertility. Thank you to the entire staff for the incredible care we received. Were so excited to meet our 5BB embryo!
I have nothing but wonderful things to say about this practice. Dr. Mersereau and her team were incredibly compassionate, knowledgeable and professional. This journey is difficult enough, and they made the process just a little easier. Everyone from the front desk staff, I am so eternally grateful the amazing crew at UNC Fertility. You really could not be in better hands!
I’m extremely disappointed in the care I received. I had a consult then an ultrasound, that was not fully explained to me what they were looking for and blood work and the first thing said to me was that if I wanted a baby to consider a donor egg. I DO make my own eggs! I asked about my husband being tested and they never said he should. No one has ever called me back to see about following up and having more tests.I just wanted tests to see why I wasn’t getting pregnant on my own.I will never go here again. Such lack of compassion. Care has gone downhill since Dr. Merseraux left.
Amazing experience with the egg freezing process. I have cancer so had to freeze my eggs ASAP before treatment. Kristy made me feel 100x better about everything and was there every step of the process. She gave such detailed demonstrations, directions to take home and checked in with me as much in person as possible. The financial lady also spent almost 2 days working with me to check every option possible. The staff that takes blood and directs everyone also became familiar with me as you go in so often during the process, it was somewhat enjoyable to go to the “doctors”. I got 19 eggs and am so thankful for everything!!!! 10/10 recommend UNC fertility!
I highly recommend this clinic. Doctor Matthew Coward is probably the most AMAZING doctor Ive ever had the privilege of being treated by. If you have to wait a little while to get an appointment believe me it is well worth it and there is a reason for it. Number 1 he is an amazing doctor. Number 2 he doesnt like to Squeeze a bunch of patience in the day, he spends time with each patient, he sat with me for over an hour talking about my options. Again, I highly recommend this clinic and Dr. Coward.
My husband and I chose UNC Fertility for our IVF with ICSI after we’d already visited Carolina Conceptions and Duke Fertility Center. I couldn’t be happier with how our choice worked out. In our initial visit, the financial counselor at UNC was much more thorough in his estimate of our costs than the other places we visited. We liked Dr. Mesereau on our initial visit, and (although you see a lot of different doctors during an IVF cycle) all the other docs I saw had a good manner about them. The office staff and nurses were responsive and I liked the fact that they treated BOTH me and husband as patients, instead of acting like I had all the responsibility for the injections, appointments, etc while he was just tagging along. The nurses were especially good at troubleshooting. I once had a screw up happen with the pharmacy shipping me my very expensive meds and the pharmacy’s customer service was awful. But since I needed to start my meds the next day, they were still pressing me to just pay for my order. I called one of the nurses to complain and within an hour she had resolved the whole situation. The nurses there were very helpful with a number of small problems too. We had the best possible outcome (pregnant after 1 cycle). But if we had to go back again, I’d feel confident going to UNC.
After having some treatment at Carolina Conceptions, I was so please with the slower pace here. Upon my initial consult, the doctor said well if you want we can check out some things today (that never would have happened without an appointment at other places and the initial appointment lasted about an hour) I never felt like a statistic or that I was going to wreck their success rates if I didnt get with the program. The doctors had a good mix of compassion and frankness. I saw all the doctors while there at one time or another- each had a different style but I appreciated all of them.
Very irritated. Had to fight for scheduling. Fight to get IUI meds, then the clinic is no longer doing IUIs on weekends, so if you ovulate over the weekend your screwed. Try again next month. Currently booked for IVF through the end of 2022 and not scheduling for 2023. Doctors/nurses walk into the room and have no idea what procedure your going in for. I had to tell them...did you not read my chart? 30-45min waits are common, yet they will drop your appointment if you are 5 min late.. They seem to have high staffing turn over which makes one wonder if management is creating a hostel work environment for employees. Going to try Wake Med. Fertility... maybe they staff appropriately and would like our business instead?...
The staff was amazing!!!! UNC Fertility is the best. They are very compassionate and understanding. My wife and I experienced our first IVF cycle. I am currently pregnant, with a due date of Aug 10th. I will say our experience was a journey with a lot of unforseen things that took place but through it all the staff was there every step of the way. Dr. Fritz expressed his concerns early and Im glad he did. Although the appointments & medicine seemed never ending, it was all worth it! UNC Fertility really cares and they want to make sure you are healthy and they want you to bring home a health baby. I love UNC Fertility, they are the best! Special thanks to: Ashley- the financial counselor and Kim Briley
Dr. Mersereau has been absolutely fantastic to work with! She is so responsive and has gone above and beyond to make us feel comfortable! I am a naturally anxious person and we came in to the process with lots of questions and concerns, Dr. M listened to all of our needs and always accommodated them and came up with solutions for every challenge. I cannot say enough good things! The entire staff has always been amazing; Mindy is such a fantastic communicator and answered all of our questions and went above and beyond as well! Highly recommend~
We had a very positive experience at UNC Fertility. We met with Dr. Young after being referred by my OB-GYN. Dr. Young recommended IVF to us due to sperm count results. During our consultation he took the time to answer any questions and went into detail about the process. The staff were wonderful, especially Mindy. She was always available via email with any questions or concerns I had. I met with several doctors and staff members during my time at UNC Fertility and each and every one of them have so much compassion and understanding for what youre going through. We became pregnant in July 2017 and now have a beautiful little girl. Thank you UNC Fertility!
The doctors seemed pretty good but the lady in the finance office totally lied to us when we went to check on what our policy covered and when we got hit with an enormous bill later refused to talk with us respectfully about it. The procedures are way more expensive than you might thing and their financial people are not trustworthy. That being said, I think the medical staff is probably quite good.So the latest update was that I got another bill for myself, not my wife as above, that I spent a year trying to figure out. The insurance company had no record of getting billed and I kept calling trying to get them billed so I could find what balance I actually owed. After a year and probably 25 hours of my time I finally gave up and paid it out without insurance. This place seems completely incompetent in their financial billings. As side note, they were offering free ultrasounds for the first visit but then happily billed it to the insurance company. Not sure if this is some scam or just incompetence. Someone in management should get involved.
UNC Fertility provided the best experience for my husband and I. Everyone that works there from the nurses and doctors to the office staff made us incredibly comfortable going through a process that can bring up lots of emotions. We are so excited to be expecting our first child thanks to UNC Fertility.
Absolutely loved my experience with this Clinic, they were all very professional and worked diligently to help each patient that contacts them. I had access to nursing staff at all hours via Patient Portal and email. Highly recommend Dr. Mersereau and her team of highly skilled professionals.
My wife and I started with UNC Fertility when we began planning our family. From the moment we arrived everyone was absolutely amazing. They made us feel both informed and highly cared for. It’s not always easy to find equitable family-planning care, but UNC Fertility made our goals their goals and have been truly wonderful since day one.
Our visit in person was great, very nice people. The 1 Star is for the ability to reach them and their ability to resolve insurance claims. We have been working over a year on this bill we received that claims insurance had not been applied. On the very rare chance that i can get a hold of anyone (they are the most difficult people I’ve ever tried to get a hold of) i explain the situation and share our insurance had processed this bill already and they usually say that they will enter in the information and figure out the issue, revise and call back. I never get a call back, and every month i get the same bill, along with a bill collectors notice regarding the bill. It seems nothing is done about it...i don’t know where the disconnect it but it has been extremely frustrating and definitely the worst I’ve dealt with.
I have had had 8 pregnancy losses and this office makes me feel cared for. They discovered my last pregnancy to be in my fallopian tube and they were super supportive and caring. They asked what I wanted and they sent me straight to surgery. I wouldnt g anywhere else. I drive almost 3 hrs to get here, but its worth it. Dr Peavey is amazing.
Dr.Fritz is awesome. Very informative with everything and how the process work. So happy I didnt need to do anything major except just tracking and boom I was pregnant within three months. Had my third child nov 2016. The staff is amazing as well. Only thing is that the reception dept do not mark payments into data appropriately and I feel like I had to make extra payments when I didnt need to Still waiting for financial dept to send me statements so I can match my receipts. Still nothing 6 months later. Make sure you hold your receipts otherwise great office.
Does not worth even 1 star.Reasons:1) They will try to take the money from you as much as possible and make you pay without filing the claim with insurance. When I asked for the itemized bill, I found that they did not file the insurance claim rather charged me. I have to wait a few months to get his refund for extra charge. I am glad I asked them for itemized bill.2) Later, I went to different fertility center and later found that they did some test that was not necessary3) there was a test which the insurance would pay almost 80% but they asked me to pay full. The reason I was there because it has the UNC logo. I am not sure how truly they represent the UNC. I know many people may go there because it has UNC logo but I have so bad experience with them. Please avoid.
Dr. Fritz is a kind and very detailed doctor but the financial department is horrible. When we be can they called our insurance and said medications would be covered. They werent. They will jot file things that should be filed with health insurace and the things they dont file they refuse to give you an itemized receipt which seems very dishonest to me. Have spoken to both financial agents multiple times by phone and though email with no resolve. Regretting ever using this place. Also financial staff never me toned Compassionate Care or First Steps to help us with payment. Had to find it googling. Fed up!
Where do I begin?Short version: Dr. Matt Coward and his team were awesome to work with. Both supportive and patient, I cant imagine getting this far with anyone else. More than a year ago I was diagnosed with Non-Obstructive Azoospermia. Now, after a successful MicroTESE operation, my wife and I are ready to move forward to the next step in our fertility journey.Long version: After my diagnosis, Dr. Coward was good about laying all my options out before me so that I could make an informed decision, but ultimately he left the final decision up to me. The clinic also put my wife and I in touch with an excellent counselor who I would be more than happy to refer anyone to.It took me more than a year of counseling, discussions with my wife, and trying alternate paths before I was ready to undergo the MicroTESE procedure. When my wife and I finally reached out to discuss the MicroTESE, Dr. Coward remembered who we were and our story as if we had just spoken the week before. He was quick to answer any questions we had and I could tell he was on our side.I had assumed that I would have a horrible nights sleep the night before the procedure, but honestly it was one of the best nights of sleep Id had in a long while. The next day, if nothing else, promised answers, and maybe some closure if the results didnt turn out well. I went into the procedure with 100% confidence in Dr. Coward and his team, and Im rarely 100% confident about anything. While I was being operated on, my wife sat in a room nearby anxiously awaiting results. She was doing her best to manifest a positive outcome when one of the nurses rushed in, almost in tears, to tell her that they had found viable sperm. Dr. Coward was so excited when they started finding samples that he sent someone to tell my wife right away. All in all they extracted 9 samples of sperm, far exceeding all of our expectations.Still coming out of the daze of general anesthesia, the whole morning is honestly a blur to me, I vaguely recall tears, hugs, and excitement as the staff congratulated us on the results.I know that I am a lucky case, and that not all MicroTESEs are this successful. But, even if the outcome had been opposite, I would still have written some version of this review. My confidence wasnt that they would retrieve sperm that morning. I was confident that if there was sperm there to be found, they would find it. And thats an important distinction. As Dr. Coward would put it, the results arent really up to him. There is always some level of uncertainty going into a MicroTESE procedure. But you can be confident that if there is sperm, he and his team will do everything within their power to achieve a positive outcome. The staff at UNC Fertility cares. I have no doubt that their hearts are with all of their patients, no matter what shape their fertility journey takes.Infertility is a roller coaster ride, and there are just as many ups as downs. Our journey isnt over, but were one step closer.
After two years of having multiple miscarriages with healthy babies and no explanation to their passings, my OB referred me to Dr. Fritz and his team at UNC Fertility. After reviewing my medical history with a fine tooth comb, Dr. Fritz explained all possible options very thoroughly and with great detail. I was able to participate in a new diagnostic procedure, led by Dr. Lyttle, that gave us results instantaneously. After two years of loss and heartbreak, I was given the answer and a solution so quickly! All members of the staff are very professional. The ladies in reception are gentle and careful with your personal information, are super helpful, and answer the phone every time (youd be surprised how uncommon that is in todays world). Both Dr. Fritz and Dr. Lyttle were very understanding to my feelings, and gave me great comfort in knowing that theyll be there every step of the way to help my fiance and I start our family. Thank you UNC Fertility!
Reading through all the post I was very overwhelmed with all the horrible feedback. I have been riding the emotional rollercoaster about leaving our old Doctor (because we are relocating) I just left my first meeting with Dr. Sarah and she was very knowledgeable. She made me feel at ease with our on going issue. She is being aggressive enough for us and listened to our wants and concerns. Moving forward I think this place is a right first for us. Baby Dust for all😀
My wife had bad experiences with Dr. Steiner. Dr. Steiner made hurtful statements relative to my wifes ability to reproduce. The way medications were handled was very unprofessional. Multiple doctors we spoke to after the ordeal very much disagreed with how Dr Steiner approached matters. Having been both an undergrad and graduate student of Carolina it is sad that the University I love employs someone like Dr. Steiner. We have several details that I considered bringing to the NC Medical Board, since I strongly believe Dr. Steiner does not take the Hippocratic Oath seriously, but my wife did not want bad karma so to speak. I believe that ideology is why more do not speak out against Dr Steiner, since their main focus is having a child. I am happy to say that my wife and I are now expecting a child, yes there are intangibles, but I strongly believe our new doctor and clinic made a world of change in our ability to have a child. Given it took a couple cycles vs the many failed ones with Dr Steiner. The nurses at UNC Fertility were not the greatest at drawing blood efficiently, relative to what have seen elsewhere.
The entire staff at UNC are professional, kind, and compassionate! They build trusting relationships with their patients and help on the biggest journey one can endure. I’m so grateful to be one of their success stories, one I was afraid I would never have. Thank you UNC!
I used this place to do egg freezing. Im giving this place 3 stars due to the fact that they only had males doing ultrasounds on certain days of my monitoring appointments. They also had video cameras in the rooms
Im currently pregnant and due next summer. The staff at the clinic was so helpful with the stress that came with the procedures and the process of ivf. Everyone, from the front desk to the doctors, were kind, warm, and genuine. Thank you to Wendy for answering all of my questions and reassuring me everything would be alright. Thank you to Dr. Fritz for helping us get to this stage. We are forever grateful.
I started with this clinic about 5 months ago . We did all the tests and labs and dr decided that the best plan for us is IUI. We started in July. All of a sudden they said they don’t do IUI on Sundays then while I was in a middle of an IUI cycle , they sent me an email that starting 9/16 /22 they will not do any IUI at all. This is so frustrating. If you need IUI , please stay away from this clinic.
This place is incredible. Dr Fritz and Dr Coward were extremely knowledgeable, helpful, and kind. They have cutting edge expertise and resources. Come here for a second opinion if you get bad news elsewhere, and you should probably come here for your first opinion anyway! In addition to great results and medical care, everybody here was caring, thorough, and available. The personal touch here is on the next level. This place gets my highest possible recommendation.
Absolutely worst place. I was diagnosed with cancer and was sent here to have a consultation about fertility options prior to treatment. My husband and I decided to forgo fertility treatment and continue with cancer treatment. Note : I did not have ANY fertility treatment. It is TWO YEARS LATER and I am being harrassed after my insurance has already paid the bill (it was paid TWO YEARS AGO).And now they are resending me bills and putting new claims on the visit I had on 12/5/2017 to my insurance. They are doing all of this under a doctor I did not even see. They will not return my calls.Awful, terrible and exhausting.
I want to be clear that I hear good things about UNCs practitioners. However, we were comparison pricing IVF cycles between different clinics and UNC Fertilitys financial counselors told us that they couldnt give pricing specifics and that we should plan for between $12,000 and $24,000 for an IVF cycle. Other local clinics were able to give us line item prices for retrieval, frozen embryo transfer, ICSI, etc. (I should be clear that no clinic can give clear pricing for medication, as dosages and regimens differ and the pricing is up to the pharmacy). Its extremely strange that a medical office cant explain the cost of a self-pay procedure, or at least price items like retrieval and FET with the understanding that the cost of monitoring visits and repeated consultations can stack up.
We had nothing but just a beautiful experience at the UNC Fertility clinic everyone from the front desk to the nurses and lab technician are amazing, very helpful and caring of course how can I forget the doctors especially Dr.Mersereau she is very honest, knowledgeable, caring and professional and her crew as well you could not be in better hands. My wife got pregnant after first cycle giving birth to a beautiful healthy baby boy in November 2015.we are very thankful to God and Dr.Mersereau! Im glad that we made a decision to go to UNC fertility Clinic( and will be very comfortable and confident if we had to go back again).A big thanks to everyone at UNC fertility clinic specially to Dr.Jennifer Mersereau and her crew.
The clinic is great , it runs very smoothly and is very organized and the our doctor was extremely helpful I would email her back and forth for any concerns I had and she would explain evening in detail for me . My only complain is the nurse who draws blood up front , she has short hair I think she is Latino , she had drawn blood from me at least 5 times and always extremely rude , I would ask her questions she would give me a one word answer sometimes would totally ignore me , does not know how to treat patients , always on a hurry , last time I asked her that Im fasting and if this will make me dizzy she completely ignored me and starts talking to the ladies upfront . I think she needs to work on her attitude.
I would like to start by saying I gave this company its only two stars for the compassion I received from the phlebotomy team and my nurse Wendy. The lack of communication, and the fact and I think cause I am African American is the reason I did not receive the upmost care. I have been with the office over a year with no true communication or changes unless I initiated them. There was so many things they could have done to help with my quality and care instead they just went through the motions and let me fail mind you I am only anovulatory. They did not try to change my med protocol in the beginning from femara to clomid, did not give me anything to help with egg quality and no calls just emails especially from the embryologist to tell me I had no embryos that made it, leaving me with nothing. I had to research my own supplements to even get any results they did nothing but say sorry after so many cycles and all normal labs and test ran. To say the least I am hurt and devastated especially after being warned to go else where for their lack of care for women of my complexion. I was merely a NUMBER... why is this world like this. When trying to have a baby please take your time to do your research and really get a feel for who will be taking care of you. I truly held this office in the highest of regards and sadly they know this. But nothing. I will add nothing more. Respectfully
This practice is hands down the most patient centered practice. From the front office staff to the doctors, everyone is compassionate and gives you the same level of care. You need UNC Fertility when going through infertility.
Our Gynecologist have suggested here to take up few tests. The receptionist Erica was so good and kind. Everything went fine when we took tests. But we have moved from NC to Atlanta suddenly and so we were not able to get the medical records while moving. After moving to Atlanta it took several calls to get those medical records. Initially a lady have told that she can send the medical records immediately after receiving the Authorization for releasing medical records. But i didnt receive after 2 days even. So i called again and another person have picked and was so rude and told me that they cannot send it just like that as they are busy with some work. I told her to transfer to the person who spoke to me first. but she refused and didnt even cared of what im saying. She asked me to be on line and within few seconds she disconnected the call. I called again and she replied so rudely as U just called me and i told u that it will take a weeks time to send the records.I dont understand onething. We went for just a checkup and we paid for it. Then why the hell they r so rude with us to send our medical records. Felt so bad.. Atlast got my medical records after 1 week.
I love the entire team of UNC Fertility and especially Dr. Young, Dr. Mercereau, Mindy, Wendy, Tameka. They have helped me tremendously during the entire process of achieving pregnancy through IVF and I would highly recommend them to anyone who wants to have a child (children) but has fertility issues.
The people are nice enough, but Dr. Mersereau seriously injured me when she cut into my iliac artery during a routine laparoscopy. I had to have a blood transfusion and had to be helicoptered to the hospital for an emergency surgery to fix the tear. Because of this, my unexplained fertility is still unexplained- the injury happened at the beginning of the laparoscopy so they didnt have time to look around my uterus while I was bleeding on the the table. Also, I have $4,000 of medical bills not covered by insurance that are associated with the surgery that I never would have had if Dr. Mersereau had not injured me in the first place.
The most wonderful doctor visit I’ve ever experienced!! They made me feel so special.. I’m so happy with my choice of UNC-F.. great staff and the environment is so beautiful and pleasant !!! Ladies this is the place to go if you are wanting to conceive!
Dr fritz and staff thank for your kindness I felt like I was sent in the right direction. These people know exactly what they are doing very professional I had hope when I left. May god continue to bless you and your team.
Great care, super responsive and amazing staff. So excited to finally be expecting our baby we have waited so long for.
Husband and I think very highly of Dr. Coward. Explained everything clearly, was very caring, and professional and procedure and recovery went well. A friend also raves about Dr. Fritz.
So far, my husband and I are thoroughly impressed with the doctors and staff here. They were able to help us more than anyone has been able to so far. Thank you for giving us hope.
I already feel less than a priority. I was scheduled for a telemedicine consult yesterday and no call or email.
Absolutely the worst place to get a hold of anyone. I have dealt with this facility for 3 years and a simple call has never been answered. I can try all hours of the day and even if the web site says this time frame is not busy, you will still not get a human to answer. I have to wait days and hours for a call back and Lord if you miss a call it starts all over again.
I jumped through hoops for months with the Va to get a referral to see Dr. Crawford to have surgery. Only to find out once I got the referral that he doesnt take VA Patient. I wish when I was fighting for my country I could have picked and choose whos freedoms I was fighting for.
I love this office the staff n doctors are great! N the nurse Wendy is awesome! She always keeps in contact with me through email or phone!
Edit! They were going through some software updating and seems like all the kinks have been worked out mostly Great team and love how prompt they are on getting back to me.
Unwilling to take CHAMPVA insurance for my wife, I had a referral from the Durham VA for myself, told it didn’t matter, they won’t work with the VA even though a VA rep made my appointment for me.
No one ever answers the phone, it’s been impossible to get a follow-up appointment. What’s the point of getting all the labs and tests if nothing actionable is going to come from it?
Very poor time management on their end. Friendly staff though. The front desk and the doctor were very friendly and helpful.
I wish I can give zero star. I had so much frustration with their billing department. Make sure they do not cheat with the insurance things.
Dr Coward is an amazing, gifted surgeon. I have no doubt he is one of the very best in his field.
Very happy to have found the help of doctor Mary peavey she knows all the factors so that I could get pregnant now I have a 7 month old baby very happy and if I recommend her
I love this place. Very friendly and very clean. Dr. Young is wonderful. They make you feel great through a difficult time.
The staff is very respectful, caring and they take time to actually sit down talk to you get to know and get a better understand of what you want to accomplish out of your visit .
The staff & the doctor was very nice, I had my HSG done & they explained everything in detail. Great place.
Wonderful experience, everyone is kind, understanding and timely. The offices are clean, professional and comfortable.
Went in for some blood work etc.. Really nice and helpful staff, totally hands on and helpful. Seems like a really well fun facility.
Friendly, helpful staff & doctors. Financial counselors helpful & responsive. Clean office.
A great facility to come get the answers you are looking for and great help along the way. I’m happy with my service by this facility!!!
Worst billing department. I would not recommend.
Everyone is wonderful and helpful. I cant be more happier.
I keep calling and calling and no one has gotten back to me in weeks
Highly recommend Dr. Coward for any male fertility needs.
One of the most unprofessional places they are horrible to there patients and there employees. They need to be closed down the Dr are rude so are the nurses. They have no care at all Noone should ever go here. They talk about all the patients horrible no matter who you are
I liked it a lot
