Dr. Fady and the team at VCRM were absolutely wonderful with every step of the process in getting us to pregnancy. They were courteous, helpful, understanding of any questions we had and we will also be grateful to the entire team for helping us grow our family. We never felt like we were in the dark about the care we needed and next steps, because it can be complicated to take on. Thank you the entire team and best wishes to them all.
VCRM is the best medical team I have ever worked with! Long story short, my husband and I have always wanted to parents. When things didn’t exactly go to plan, we sought out a couple top clinics in the area. After my initial consult with Dr. Sharara, I knew I’d be in the best hands at VCRM. Most people who go through fertility treatments/IVF will tell you that it’s physically easier than they thought it’d be, but emotionally harder. I wanted to work with a team that treated us like family and not a number, and where I felt fully supported. VCRM was that team.Dr. Sharara has wonderful bedside manner. I appreciated how honest, knowledgeable, and meticulous he is, and we always felt that he was doing absolutely everything in his power to make us successful. His staff are incredible as well. I loved the nurses (thank you Jo, Jessica, and Jill!), all of whom helped us every step of the way — including answering texts after hours, teaching us how to do injections, etc. Trisha and Cameron were also wonderful. They helped us navigate the financial/insurance piece with grace and were so punctual with appointments (there are a ton for IVF, so this meant a lot and signaled that the clinic really valued our time). VCRM’s small size allows you to work with the same doctor and nurses for every appointment, test, procedure, and ultrasound. We really appreciated this consistency from start to finish.I’m happy to report that our dreams have come true and I am pregnant (first transfer!), all thanks to Dr. Sharara! I was in tears at my last ultrasound - it’s strange because you start fertility treatments hoping to finish as soon as possible, but we loved VCRM so much that I was incredibly sad to leave. We could not be more grateful!
I highly recommend Dr. Fady Sharara. My husband and I decided to consult with fertility doctor. On our first appoinment Dr. Sharara and VCRM team welcomed us and were very caring. He recommended us to start diet and tests. I was able to lose 10 pounds and performed operation that needed to be done before IVF procedure. We ended up concieving naturally before starting IVF. Cant thank Dr. Sharara and his team enough as they truly care and tailor your care to your needs.Dao & Dan
Dr. Sharara and the entire team made my pregnancy journey very straightforward and positive. Really like his optimistic attitude and communication skills, as well as prowess in helping identifying our issues. My husband and I felt great after every visit even when the outcomes themselves were not really heading in any direction. Highly recommend.
Dr. Sharara and his team are absolutely incredible. I chose to go to him and make the trek from Richmond to Reston after extensive research on who would be “the best” and I’m so thankful I did. He and the staff are professional, thorough, and deeply kind. Not only do I have him to endlessly thank for the gift of my daughter, but thanks to his testing, it was discovered that I had a blood clotting disorder that can cause implantation failure as well as lead to second or third trimester miscarriages, so we were able to treat that and keep baby safe during the pregnancy (and me afterward!).I can’t say enough wonderful things about Dr. Sharara and Virginia Center for Reproductive Medicine!
This is my second time with using Dr Sharara, the first time and this time was a wonderful experience. The whole clinic is warm and inviting. They really felt like my friends who I could talk to and share stuff with. Dr Sharara is always very detailed and very thorough with what he needs to do for you to make sure your individual plan is for you specifically. He makes sure to check everything possible to make sure he gives you the best treatment plan possible. His bedside manner is the best I’ve seen. I wish all doctors were as comforting and supportive as he is. Thank you so much for all you’ve done for us!
We had an incredible experience with Dr. Sharara and the entire VCRM team. We were blown away from the moment we walked in the door. The staff is warm and friendly and always knows your name. From our first meeting, Dr. Sharara was determined to find us a solution to bring us our family. We had been at another clinic previously where two implantations failed and one ended in miscarriage. The entire experience had been very unpersonalized and cold. VCRM could not be any more different. Dr. Sharara is a problem solver and is devoted to his patients and finding a successful approach. Before undergoing anything, he first conducts thorough testing to determine what might be your fertility issue. His work is grounded in research and the latest studies. His approach may seem different if youve been anywhere else, but I cannot stress enough, TRUST him. Once he felt we were in a place where we were ready for Egg Retreival, I cannot praise enough how amazing him and his team were. They offered solutions Id never been presented before when my lining was thin. Jessica in particular was incredibly thoughtful, making sure we understood how to do every injection, answering our questions no matter the hour. They also approach billing in such a thoughtful manner, because as you may know with IVF, it is not an easy topic. The day of my retreival the entire team made me feel taken care of and provided detailed guidance so I didnt get OHSS again. With our implantation, it was the same incredibly thoughtful treatment, and when we got a positive pregnancy test the entire team celebrated us like family. Everyones outcomes are different based on your personal issues and experiences, but what I can gurantee you is that Dr. Sharara and the entire VCRM team will do everything they possibly can to help you acheive the goal of starting or growing your family. They are one of a kind amazing and we feel so blessed to have found them!
I went to VCRM after dealing with SGF-Leesburg for a year (avoid at all costs). Im so thankful I found VCRM, they truly care about finding the root cause of your fertility issues and Dr. Sharara takes a more holistic approach to try to change your body from within, rather than just pushing fertility treatments on you immediately. After 7 weeks of thorough testing and changing my diet, I was able to get pregnant naturally and am expecting a baby boy in May 2023. I was completely shocked, when SGF had been telling me for a year that getting pregnant naturally was very unlikely. Its very apparent that Dr. Sharara cares for his patients and wants to help everyone as much as he can. The other thing I appreciated about VCRM is you will see Dr. Sharara every appointment unlike other practices. I understand that not everyone will get pregnant naturally depending on their own individual health issues, but I would suggest you meet with Dr. Sharara first and try all his methods before jumping into fertility treatments!
So grateful that I found VCRM and Dr. Sharara. Their office has restored my faith in our healthcare system. Dr. Sharara himself performed all of my diagnostic tests, looked over every single one of my lab results, and performed all ultrasounds/monitoring/procedures. This office was nothing but straightforward, compassionate, and efficient. Trust this office with your fertility journey, you will not regret it.
The front desk ladies are absolutely wonderful! 10/10 for the sweet ladies at the front desk! However, the doctor himself, not so much. I went in for a consultation and had asked a question about a medical condition I have and I was belittled for asking. He responded with are you a fertility specialist or are you a doctor? No, then you cannot make that assumption. I was not making an assumption, I was asking a question based off research that I had done. I did not feel heard. Any time I would answer a question that he asked, I would not even get everything out and he was moving onto the next or cutting me off. I feel like with him, that I would not be able to properly advocate for myself and that because of my young age, he did not treat me the same. As if going to a fertility specialist is not already stressful enough, this did not help my stress levels. The front desk lady knew when I left how upset I was. I walked into the office cheery and ready to ask questions and such. I left that office in tears because the doctor made me feelI made my appointment when I left because I felt pressured too. Then I ended up calling back and cancelling it. She was very sweet about the whole thing. My research was not just off Google either. I had used trusted sites such as the NIH and other trusted medical journals. But I can’t believe anything but what a doctor says is what I gathered.
Dr. Sharara was the first specialist we saw and Im grateful that we lucked out with the best. He provides an individualized care for the patient. He also took the time to explain anything we didnt understand and answer all questions whenever we had them. Dr. Sharara handled all of our appointments himself and we saw him at every appointment. The staff at VCRM is beyond kind and knowledge. Everyone was so nice at every visit and provided a caring and comforting atmosphere for such an emotional journey. When I graduated from VCRM to my OB, I was sad because I wouldnt be seeing the staff anymore. They truly made this process and experience so much easier. I have highly recommended them to friends and would recommend them to anyone who needs an amazing RE/fertility clinic.
After “getting” our son on our first implantation attempt, we were sad and disappointed when the next implantation didn’t take. But we weren’t discouraged, and we trusted the practice at UPMC Magee. We wanted another child badly enough to look past the impersonal, transactional interactions with the giant provider. But when the tally ran to two failed implantations and a miscarriage, we were left without any blinders or bias and started looking elsewhere.Research and “interviews” with a number of practices led us to Dr. Sharara and the VCRM team. From the first call, we could tell that they’d be who we’d trust our fertilization journey with from then on. The confidence and clarity that Dr. Sharara presented put our minds at ease (as much as possible), and the administrative and nursing support staff were personal, attentive, and understanding. We drove almost 4 hours each way to work with the VCRM team, to much success.Dr. Sharara proposed some new tests and analyses that we’d never been introduced to, in addition to the one or two that UPMC said might be helpful. Though going through the process was frustrating at times, it was not for lack of compassion, consideration, and rigor on the VCRM team’s part. After all was said and done, we had a successful FTE transfer and are 10 weeks along now. We know we would not be at this point with our old provider, and we can’t thank (and recommend) Dr. Sharara, Jo, and the entire VCRM staff enough.
VCRM was the first place we went to during my IVF search and from the first meeting, my husband and I absolutely loved him. He was very knowledgeable and made us feel comfortable during this difficult time in our lives. We were admitted in May 2021 and was pregnant by September 2021. We are now expecting our first little one thanks to Dr. Sharara and his team. Nurse Joanne is our favorite she calls to check up on you and is so friendly. Only thing I will recommend as far as Financial is that costs varies according to your specific needs, so be prepared. My husband and I needed more money but we went through Future Family and they were helpful.
Tried contacting them to prepare for an egg donation and after filling out all forms I have been completely ghosted by them, I have absolutely zero medical issues or otherwise and feel very disturbed at how they’ve handled communication considering the fact of how personal of a decision it is for me to consider donating my eggs. I dont see this as a respectable place to consider for you donations.Almost two months with zero reply is unprofessional
Excellent! When we started our fertility journey, we had so many questions and were nervous that we wouldn’t be able to get pregnant. We were also worried about finding a doctor who was LGBT-friendly. Dr. Sharara and his staff were so wonderful!! We are so glad we found VCRM. We had so much confidence in Dr. Sharara and he walked us through every choice we made. Also, I’ve never been to a doctor’s office were I spent so little time in the waiting room. Dr. Sharara and his staff were so respectful of our time. Everyone was so welcoming every time we came in and they were all so helpful and supportive. Through all the ups and downs, Dr. Sharara and his staff were compassionate and caring. When I was far enough along to move on to seeing an obstetrician, we were sad to say good-bye to everyone at VCRM. Both my wife and I would highly recommend Dr. Sharara!
From the moment we came to see Dr. Sharara and his team, I knew we were in safe and loving hands. He is an educator at heart, and truly takes the time to explain each situation, process, and possible solution to you. The first thing that he prescribed was that I change my diet to a healthier, more clean way of eating, which I love. It shows that he truly treats the whole person, and not just with drugs. He is incredibly intelligent and experienced, and really knows what he is talking about. Trust him and the process! My favorite thing about our experience was that we were never just a number like people often talk about being at bigger, high traffic clinics - I was terrified to admit I needed to be treated for infertility (especially at only 27 years old!), but the office staff, nurses, and Dr. S himself always made my husband and me feel like family. We were greeted with smiles and a hug, reassured, and there was always a plan for moving forward if something didn’t work the way we initially thought. We got to see our doctor at every single appointment. The nurses are absolutely amazing. Jo, Lilly, and Jessica are always there to comfort you and make you feel like you don’t have to go through the process alone. I couldn’t ask for a better team to have take care of us. We eventually moved past IUIs and completed a round of IVF which was successful, and we are now expecting our first child! All within a year of treatment. Dr. Sharara and his amazing team will always be family to us and have the most special place in our hearts. I cannot speak highly enough of them! We love you, VCRM!!!
My husband and I could not be happier with the decision to start our family with VCRM. Initially, we were with another big box fertility treatment center in the NoVA area and decided to make a move after a couple of big oversights on their part, we felt like just another dollar sign. After sharing my experience with friends who had also struggled with infertility, we were referred to Dr. Sharara and the VCRM team. I could tell from the initial phone call that we were on a better path. Mary, the receptionist was warm and got us in right away. At our initial consult, Dr. Sharara had taken a thorough look at what screens/testing we had already done and decided that we needed to retest. Upon evaluation of the new tests, he discovered another oversight on our first fertility centers evaluation, one that would have had us continue to try an improper treatment and cost us valuable time and money. With the correct assessment, we were able to come up with a treatment plan and get started right away.I felt fully supported by Dr. Sharara and the team and saw him every appointment (this was entirely different from our first clinic, I met my doctor once). His nurse Jo, who I LOVE, was in touch quickly with me if I had questions, at any time of the day or night, which was so helpful. Trish, who manages billing, took the time to explain our coverage multiple times and was quick to respond to my follow up questions. I felt like family, which during this difficult time, was exactly what I needed. This was NOT easy, you will likely be on a strict diet and quite a few supplements. Dr. Sharara is direct during the process and will tell you what will and will not work to get to your goals based on his years of experience. If you do what he asks, it will be worth it in the end. Im writing this review as my newborn is sleeping...If you are even contemplating getting assistance on your fertility journey, I highly recommend VCRM.
We had the most wonderful experience with VCRM! We had previously undergone 2 rounds of IVF with another clinic, but discovered we are unable to have biological children together. We ended up using an embryo adoption agency and VCRM was willing to accept the embryos for us, which was such a blessing. From the very beginning, we felt so welcomed by the staff and knew we were in good hands. Dr. Sharara is very thorough in his approach and we appreciate his up front and honest communication. He leaves no stone unturned when doing testing and was able to treat us for an issue we didnt even know we had! We went through 2 transfers with them and are currently pregnant with twins from our second transfer! And we still have embryos waiting for us in the future :) The front desk staff is super easy to work with and are very quick to communicate and nurse Jo is just wonderful. We would recommend VCRM to anyone looking to build their family!
Sharara will push you to do tests you dont need. He will push his paid app. His staff is the most rude ever, except Jo. Beware because they will hold your medical records even if you are waiting for insurance to pay a pending bill, and will not release records until you pay your pending bill, which is against the law since doctors are not supposed to hold medical records. His staff will hang up on you if you try to tell them anything they dont want to hear. Doctors are not supposed to hold records regardless of billing status. I stopped treatment with him due to some troubling behavior from his end. As for his office, compared to other fertility clinics weve since consulted, Virginia Center for Reproductive Medicine seems outdated. Equipment is old and I dont think his lab /technology is up to par. I would seriously go to CCRM/ Shady Grove even though they treat you like a number their success rates are higher and technology is better. Shararas staff and paid reviewers will call me a liar and come after me, but everything I am writing is the absolute honest truth. Beware of this practice and if you write a bad review they will come after you and forcefully tell you to remove it. Thats how they have a decent rating and thats how he stays in business. Please go to a modern, updated fertility clinic with doctors who are following the latest research and keeping equipment updated. The doctor has responded (or one of his staff) calling me a liar, as expected and wondering why we continued care with him. To respond to his question about continuing care, Sharara will make you do so many tests for both partners even for donor eggs, right after the first visit, so even if you go to him for a little while, youll have records.
Dr Sharara and the VCRM team was amazing! We came across this office via two referrals. I knew after the first visit that I had made the right choice in having Dr Sharara help us through this journey. This was the third fertility clinic my husband and I had visited and the only one that I felt as though someone really cared about us and the emotional needs we had. As a result, I became pregnant and we just had a beautiful baby boy! I remember crying on the day I had my last appointment with the VCRM office and transitioned from their office to having to see my OB/GYN. I felt like I was leaving family. I can’t wait to introduce everyone in the office to our new bundle of joy. Please consider the VCRM team for your fertility needs.
Before visiting VCRM and meeting Dr Sharara.. I had 5 IUI AND 6 IVFs with other Richmond VA doctors. All unfortunately were unsuccessful in achieving live births. I had spent over 60k in fertility meds and treatments. I was 36 and I only had enough funds for 1 more IVF try. We decided to change doctors. As soon as I met Dr Sharara I knew he was the one. I am proudly now mother of 11 year old boy/girl twins. Dr Sharara will always be considered a family member to us.If your reading this.. dont go to ANY other doctor... Why have 2nd best when you can have THE BEST DOCTOR IN THE FERTILITY!!!
I cannot say enough nice things about Dr. Sharara and his staff. My husband and I visited the practice after months of failed attempts to conceive and were met by a knowledgeable, concise, and comforting professional. Through their advise, we were able to conceive naturally within two months. Sadly, nature had other plans and Dr. Sharara gently coached us through a heartbreaking ectopic pregnancy. We decided to use IVF and ultimately lucked out after one round. We felt so well taken care of and valued by everyone, from Mary and Trisha at the reception desk to Jo and Lily in the back. We were sad to move on from VCRM but with good reason! Cant recommend them enough.
Everyone at the office was highly professional, caring and knowledgeable.Dr Sharara took this time in explaining all the options available to me and my wife. Walked us through the process. He was very patient and kind!Highly recommend
If nature works – great. Otherwise go to VCRM. You will find a doctor who knows his craft and your chart, and a nurse who is there just for you. Both know you by name and are utmost professionals when it comes to your personal needs and care. You can trust them. At more than 21 weeks of beautiful pregnancy now, we are very happy to have chosen VCRM.
Because of Dr. Sharara and VCRM, I am now 15 weeks pregnant and doing great!!I have always suffered from irregular periods that were anywhere from 30 to 70+ days apart. After a year of trying on our own with no luck, we first sought medical help at a different larger fertility clinic. There, I felt frustrated by their wishy-washy and vague communication-style. I never felt like we got clear answers. Needless to say, our treatment there was unsuccessful. Frustrated with their service, we decided to move on and consult with Dr. Sharara upon recommendation by a coworker. Our experience with Dr. Sharara was vastly different. He was extremely thorough, assertive, and had a clear plan in mind for us. After running several tests on my husband and I, he affirmatively diagnosed me with PCOS and educated me on what it means. We went into the consultation wanting to do IVF right away, but he was adamant about me taking a break for 2-3 months to prep my body. His first goal was to get me to ovulate naturally without relying on medications like Letrozole/Clomid. He asked me to try a fertility diet (low carb, no sugar), take several supplements, and just try to conceive naturally during this time. He was very optimistic about this. We were shocked and a little doubtful at first, but we appreciated his more prospective approach, so we decided to trust the process and go with it. Well, just after 1.5 months of the diet and supplements, we conceived naturally!! Of course, what worked for me might not work for everyone, but what I felt I got from him was a plan that was tailored for my condition and age...and not some standard cookie-cutter protocol. My husband and I are tremendously grateful for Dr. Sharara. While under his care, we found him and his nurses to be extremely personable, compassionate, professional, responsive, and VERY timely (never waited more than 5 mins). And while we didnt need medical treatment from him per se (i.e. IUI or IVF) , he empowered me with so much knowledge and the things I can do for myself, and its because of THAT, I feel less helpless about my condition, I understand my infertility better, and can now happily say I am pregnant.Thank you Dr. Sharara and the VCRM team!
If it was not for him I wouldn’t have had both of my kids. He’s amazing and I’ve hear so many horror stories over the years about Shady Grove. I’m so blessed for having both of my children. Thank you Doctor❤️
Very respectful , professional and love Jessica also she was so nice during my whole process , I will be returning ! Thank you so much !
Love this clinic and I owe them everything! I used their amazing donor embryo program and in about 2 months I went from my first appointment to positive pregnancy test! Very helpful & sweet staff! Easy to get ahold of the nurses and if they cant pick up right away theyll call back super quick. Being released to my OB and Ill surely miss VCRM!
I used VCRM for all four of my surrogacy journeys. Dr. Sharara and his staff are kind, knowledgeable and extremely thorough. I highly recommend!! Miss you all and hope you are staying safe!
If I could give zero stars I would. Dr. Shara told me, after two unsuccessful rounds of IVF that I would not be able to have a child without donor eggs. FALSE! Thank goodness we got second opinions because we now have a beautiful, healthy, toddler, and over a dozen frozen embryos. All with my own eggs, thanks to the amazing doctors at GW. In the multiple second opinions we received, every single doctor asked me why I was on the supplements I was on, and told us DHEA was actually HARMING my egg quality. Meanwhile, Dr Shara asked me to take as much as possible of it.We were nothing but a way for him to make money with no regard to the fact he suggested us using donor eggs that we didnt need. No wonder they also have donor eggs to sell. They even had the audacity to freeze and charge us for the one embryo that we could get, only to find out from other facilities they would have never even saved it, what a waste of $1000. We ended up spending the savings of what would have paid for my daughters college tuition, and it was a complete waste of money. Thank goodness we got a second opinion at a place that was one third the cost.I cannot imagine the number of lives and families his carelessness of not augmenting the medication cycles had negatively impacted lives. I hope others got a second opinion and did not go with his recommendation of donor eggs.
My wife and I had great results here. From the doctor, the superb nurses, the andrologist, and the front desk staff, these people are all top-notch. I would recommend them to anyone. Everyone of them is a gem and each contributed wonderfully to making a tough journey into a wonderful success story.
*I am reducing my review to one star for the blatant disregard of patient privacy in the offices response less than 24 hours after my review was posted. It’s clear that the doctor, staff, and center has no regard for HIPAA or confidential patient medical records. This is absolutely embarrassing, humiliating, and emotionally taxing to have my medical information listed publicly on google. I look forward to filing a detailed complaint with accompanied screenshots of this response with the Office of Civil Rights and the VA Board of Medicine.————————————The office staff is awesome, responsive, and welcoming, appointments are timely. However, as a healthy same-sex couple who’d never attempted to conceive before, we were still asked to undergo a multitude of tests and even surgery prior to attempting any form of insemination. We paid thousands of dollars(out of pocket) and spent months to undergo office-mandatory tests, a surgical procedure, and one MEDICATED insemination. None of the tests or exams came back with any form of negative result. However, we were unsuccessful on the first try; which is typical. The most unfortunate part of this story is that after consulting with another reproductive doctor one month later, they recommended I undergo laprascopic surgery for endometriosis and BOOM! I was diagnosed with endometriosis by another doctor within two visits. Something this doctor did not catch. Yet, I’m stuck with a bill paying for unwarranted tests and astronomically priced insemination.Questions the 2nd opinion doctor asked:-why did you have to undergo so many tests being young and healthy?-why were you put on a medicated cycle your first attempt? If you’re privileged enough to have money to gamble with, I highly recommend.
Professionalism at its finest. The care and attention can not be found anywhere else. Very pleased with Dr Sharara and his entire staff and will continue recommending this exceptional center to anyone looking to make their family dreams come true.
I turned to them for IVF after trying to conceive for years. I so far have gone through an initial consult and taken meds to prepare only to be told i have to restart my entire cycle because of the holidays. I am furious. This should not be put on hold with the amount of money and time devoted to the process.
The staff was very nice, but the place was so dirty. Blood spots on the floor and the bathroom was so gross.I do not have the wrong practice! I called and spoke to several people
I thought that this facility would be professional and thorough especially for the price. However, I was billed double what the original prices agreed upon were and was unable to get any help in resolving the issues. I would not recommend this facility to anyone and I am transferring to a place that dose not hide true costs.
Wonderful staff, highly professional. I never had to wait when I arrived for my appointments. We had our daughter after one round of IVF.
Knowledgeable, professional staff. Top rate care! We owe our 2 sons to the team here.
Will not work with transgender patients for egg retrieval/freezing while having the pride flag displayed on the home page of their website
If Id have an option to give 0 starts, Id definitely give it to this place...Completely waste of time.
We loved our experience with the VCRM family
