My daughter was a patient here and the staff treated her with the upmost care. The information they provided to help us obtain the resources she needed to assist with her procedure was GREATLY appreciated! Our sincerest gratitude goes out to your team for a job well done!
Grateful for an awesome staff!!!!!! From the moment I walked in the front desk personnel, the ladies behind the scenes were absolutely delightful and super professional. Glad to have encountered such pleasant and jolly staff:))) thank you all
Me and my roommate had to come out 30mins for an appointment for no one at the location to help or give valid information. When stated we do not live in Richmond to please send to the pharmacy in Petersburg VA. She was declined and stated they were unable to do that per policy. Planned parenthood of New england never had an issue sending it to my location 20mins away from the facility. now we have been waiting for over an hr. Inconveniencing patients already going through anything is not per policy. you send a prescription to the patients preferred location. Gave false information to the patient. You all are a disgrace to Planned Parenthood.
Got to argue with a bunch of wack evangelicals outside and I put up an “abortion rights” sticker right at eye level to them to upset them. Great experience and hope staff stay safe!
Great care, very friendly and accommodating staff. I get my HRT and other trans-related healthcare here, and the physicians have all been excellent. My only complaint would be that it is often difficult to get anyone on the phone.
Its a gross facility. The facility is not well kept and the staff are super rude. Its absolutely disgusting to be in, let alone receive care in.
Stay awayAs a trans woman who relies on my hormones to be refilled for my health, I want to let all other trans people know to stay away from this PP center. They were half-decent before 2020, however in the last few years they regularly fail to send refills to my pharmacy when promised, dont answer their phone, and generally are not responsive to any patient needs. This has been the experience of my friends as well, not isolated to me.I have also been informed privately that this center no longer responds to voicemails asking for refills - even if said refills were supposed to have been prescribed imminently following an appointment.I hope one day things get better, but for now I recommend avoiding this office if at all possible.
They were good when I started HRT but now they pretty much dropped me as a patient because they dont consider me a Primary Care Patient?I wanted to come back about problems I had experienced on HRT that never got resolved and I was pretty much told that they wont see me anymore and I have to go somewhere else. Also even when I did go, I felt like my time wasnt valued, as theyd end up seeing me over an hour after our scheduled time the past few times.
While they were absolutely lovely when I first started HRT, over the past couple months theyve gotten really bad; theyve entirely ignored every single phone call, texted my telehealth link to the wrong number, delayed appointments by over an hour with no notice, and on top of all that, getting them to refill your meds is like trying to manage a hostage situation. There is another location very close to this one on 1122 N. 25th St. that I recommend any trans or nonbinary people go to instead of this one.Even though all the staff are extremely kind, and Im sure their hearts are in the right place, the office just feels very mismanaged and chaotic, and I think if youre looking into HRT, you should definitely go to the other location since its so close to this one.
Go to the other location! This planned parenthood location used to be really good, I had a very informative visit with very supportive staff, but after covid, it got to be very disorganised. My bloodwork was lost, two random bloodworks were in with my file? It was incredibly hard to contact them, as they wouldnt answer the phone, and HRT is on such an important schedule that this really put me into a bad situation. The actual medical staff are still very nice when you do talk to them, but theres a better option in terms of care -The other RVA location is very, very helpful. Its clean, well decorated, even has little calming music things in the rooms. Staff were kind and the doctor taught me some things I hadnt known before, everything was super clear and really centred around helping the patients. If you need the services Planned Parenthood has to offer, I really recommend heading to 25th street.
Phenomenal staff! I was able to get an appointment within a week and the process was very easy. Everyone I interacted with was kind, knowledgeable, and supportive. They made a difficult situation easy to get through and Im forever grateful to them all.
Linda was amazing . Made me feel comfortable, kept intellectual conversation, & even gave me a heating pad. I swear she made me feel so much better bout being here. She was very gental nice and empathetic. I flew from GA she was amazing !
Staff is very nice and very helpfull all staff team understands patients condition and i like all facilities.....
My fiancé was going to Planned Parenthood for birth control, gynaecology, and regular health checks. I called to make an appointment and Im told that their only seeing their usual regular patients now and they arent accepting new ones. What the hell do you mean newWeve been coming here for 2 or so years. Thats not regular?? Now shes run out of birth control and has had to go off it because they were one of the few places that would take her insurance. She has BPD and Bipolar. Because of going off her birth control it has effected her hormone levels drastically and shes been extremely suicidal. Screw PP. They dont give a damn about your health.
Absolute worst facility on the east coast of America. Don’t go here unless you wanted to be treated lesser and sit in a parking lot for 6 hours after your appointment. Do I mention after they collected my $1000.
Please try to avoid this place and go somewhere else if possible. The work ethic from this institution along with professionalism in general is very bad and close to non-existent. They have absolutely zero interest in your time and you will guaranteed be wasting a large amount of your time due to waiting. Why the crazy amounts of waiting? I have no clue. I would guess it’s because nobody wants to do their job anymore. If I owned a business, I would make sure my customers time is valued and try to be the fastest I could. Whats the point in scheduling an appointment for 9:30 when you sit there and don’t get helped until 11:00? Awful experience. They play an important roll in healthcare and refuse to treat it as such.
I havent had any bad encounters here. The front desk staff are very friendly and the clinical staff are great. Theyre non-judgmental , insightful, and helpful in every way. They really try their best to inform patients on everything needed and theyll sit with you to talk through whats needed and not needed. Ive dropped my previous OBGYN since Ive started coming here. PP is a much more diverse and accepting environment- which every clinic should aspire to be like.
The staff is very friendly and helpful. I would give five stars, as they did a great job helping me with my IUD, however, trying to get in contact with the office is not easy. It took me two days to be able to reach someone via telephone just to confirm my appointment and insurance info. Otherwise, it was a great place.
EDIT2: Every time I call this location, they schedule my appointment at the East End location without telling me. I FEEL UNSAFE AT THAT LOCATION. If i call THIS location, I expect to be scheduled at THIS location. I will be collecting my medical records and going elsewhere as of 2024. The service here is horrible.EDIT: Beyond sick and tired of this office, to be honest. Sick of having my appointments changed or cancelled last minute, sick of having to wait forever on hold to get someone on the phone, and sick and tired of not being able to get my medication when I run out, even when THEY are the ones changing my appointments. So now Im out of my meds and have to wait until my rescheduled appointment to get more. This happens so often, I dont even know why Im still going here. RIDICULOUS. If all youre willing to do is provide me with a 30 day supply at a time of my medications, forcing me to pay for 1 doctor visit EVERY MONTH, the least yall can do is ensure you call in my prescription for a refill while I reschedule my appointment and have to wait to be seen. Legitimately the LEAST you could have done. Thanks for ticking me off, though! Im sure thatll do wonders for my blood pressure!Dont get me wrong, the staff are nice even when they ANNOY me to the point of anger, but it doesnt matter. Im constantly being inconvenienced, and its absolutely the most frustrating, infuriating thing ever because it happens SO OFTEN.ORIGINAL REVIEW: The wait can be long sometimes, which is absolutely frustrating. Three times now, Ive either been told last minute that my appointment was delayed an hour, or I had to wait an hour in the exam room after speaking with the nurse. Im even more upset that on my most recent visit, I received a text message stating my provider was running 40-60 minutes behind, but im still required to arrive on time for my appointment. It annoys me that this office thinks its okay to waste my time, but Id get charged $$$ if I wasted theirs. They offer to let you reschedule, but my issue needs addressed and is time sensitive for personal reasons, so thats not exactly the best solution for me. I get that a wait happens sometimes, but at this point, Ive had to wait 1 FULL hour or more 3 out of 4 of my recent visits.I have so much trouble getting anyone on the phone at Planned Parenthood, too. And if that werent enough, Im being required to see my doctor monthly for something I shouldnt need to see them so often for, but they refuse to refill my prescription if I dont. Each visit runs me $150, so doing this monthly is really hurting me. I may need to find a new doctor at this point.
Clerical agents use phrases commonly used by abusers such as Im sorry you feel that way to deflect and dismiss your feelings. The forms cause trans people to constantly misgender themselves. Billing cant seem to figure out a payment despite given a reference number multiple times, and cant seem to give an actual amount owed. Poses as progressive, but just another capitalist healthcare institution. Would go somewhere else if I had a choice.
I was really nervous calling here, especially due to my situation. I previously called a different planned parenthood clinic and was immediately greeted with an unwelcoming representative. It took me awhile to call here because I expected the same treatment but I was wrong.I came here two times for my appointment and every visit went well. The nurses and doctor were very reassuring, kind, and patient with me. I was especially nervous and anxious when I came here so having the great and understanding customer service that was given to me helped me a lot. I would definitely recommend this place for their outstanding employees and service. The people who were also there for their appointments were just as kind too.
The people there are pleasant enough to interact with, but service? Horrendous. Ive experienced hour(s) long wait times over the phone, getting cards rejected, going there *in person* specifically to ask for an online appointment, only for them to get it wrong and schedule it as an in-person, and other miscellaneous events. As a trans person who kind of needs these appointments to refill my hormones, this really, really needs to be improved, but looking at previous reviews that are over a year old or more, that doesnt seem like itll be changing any time soon.
Ive been to this office earlier this year for birth control. That visit went fine. I just got home from the same office after being given the wrong information and had to cancel my appointment.Once I arrived, the receptionist told me that I needed to have a doctor from Planned Parenthood designated as my PCP on my insurance card, and without that I would have to pay out of pocket. Something like $100-130. She said it was because I have a HMO plan. Firstly, I have an OPEN ACCESS HMO, which means I am free to see any doctor or specialist without referral or having them listed as my PCP. Just to be sure, I called my insurance company and the gentleman verified that I DID NOT need Planned Parenthood listed at my PCP for my visit to be covered. I had it changed anyways to appease this office. After i changed my PCP, I went back (not even 20 minutes had passed) to reschedule my appointment. I also wanted to inform her that she was wrong in assuming that my plan was just a standard HMO. The card even says OPEN ACCESS on it. The girl interrupted me and told me to have a seat and she would call me up. I waited 30 minutes until I got fed up. I went up to the reception desk and waited while she chit-chatted with another employee who KNEW i was standing there because we made eye contact several times. Finally, I told that girl that I will reschedule online. She said okay. thats fine. sorry. I only waited because I wanted to inform her that she read my card wrong. If youre going to have someone dealing with peoples insurance, they should know the difference between them and what is protocol for different plans.I did reschedule only because I really love the doctor at this office. The admin staff could use some revamping or perhaps work a week in customer service, because they were really lacking.
I had a very helpful & kind experience here. They helped with funding, provided info for other funds. Each staff member was incredibly kind, understanding, and did everything possible to make sure I was comfortable and knew what was going on and why. It is hard to get into contact with the office by phone but I noticed if I called early enough and left a voicemail they will call you back soon. I am very thankful to this whole staff.
The care you recieve here is wonderful. Every single staff member is kind and helpful. There are the potiental for back ups. Remember this is a womens clinic and emergemcys happen that can delay everyones appointment. When you read some of these reviews keep in mind that PPH gets ALOT of hate and some might be fake and to scare you.
Very positive experience overall. Staff is the most friendly, non-judgmental people, who are focused on your care. I felt safe and they always made sure I was comfortable. All of my information was kept confidential especially when speaking in shared spaces. When discussing birth control options at a separate visit, they personalized the talk to fit with my lifestyle and financial needs. I honestly feel better talking with those at VLPP than other GYN doctor’s offices. Only negative: Wait times are the worst part, which is a direct result of inadequate funding for more centers and providers. Plan to have an appointment and your visit should be smooth. I stand with PP
I like the people there but have complaints about refills and the almost impossible way to contact them. I ran out of importent meds and they refuse to fill them, I had hospital stay, COVID so could not go there after me my husband cought it. So no possible way to go there.I will find different provider.
TLDR: Go to a different clinic location if you expect actual body autonomy and respect.I just walked out of an appointment to get my IUD changed to another because the provider arbitrarily decided I needed to have a pregnancy test to which I did not consent and was not mentioned in any conversation or paperwork prior claiming it was their policy. This is a lie; I have been using this office for years and it certainly wasnt required for the expiring IUD I have currently. In our current climate if my provider is going to LIE to me I certainly cant trust them with my reproductive care. I called another PP office, clarified that this is NOT Planned Parenthoods policy, and made an appointment at a different clinic. If you believe a hypothetical clump of cells is more valuable than my right to PREVENT them you need a different career. I meant it when I told you you should be ashamed of yourself while leaving. Get off your power trip or GTFO of our healthcare.Planned Parenthood, be aware of the snakes in your ranks sabotaging patient care. If you arent careful youll be a pregnancy crisis center before you know it.
Theyll cut you off your HRT treatment cold turkey & risk your health. Getting med refills is treated like a combination hostage negotiation/ privilege. Its completely weaponised incompetence designed to eradicate the trans population
All the doctors Ive seen at this location and the east end location for the past year and a half for my HRT have been really great! If youre in a bind and need HRT right now, heres the place to go. I might reccomend making more comprehensive plans for the long term.My gf and a few friends did have issues with Melissa Irene being a gatekeeper. (Not letting my gf get HRT because she might change her mind about having children. Calling my friend a slur. Etc)Ive actually ended up going to UVA for my HRT now because they had options PP just cant provide right now. (Testopel) I think their standard of care is much better at UVA and their trans health team is better equiped... But it sure is a drive.PP can also take a while (upwards of a month) if you need letters for surgery reccomendation, so again its really only a temporary fix for starting your transition.Best luck
Medical staff are wonderful. Highly recommend Dr. Courtney Henderson. Front desk people arent always competent with proper scheduling. But they are polite, not friendly, just polite. Wait time is more than desired but the treatment given by the medical staff made up for that, in my opinion.
Insane wait times on the phone, once in touch with a human they went silent on the line for 10+ mins without warning (happened two times back to back) until I finally hung up? A lot of respect for the organization as a whole and the work people do here but my last several experiences at this specific have been truly awful.
Do not get me wrong at first you walk in and the place seems so cozy! The staff are so friendly & check-in is so simple, BUT calling back in for follow-ups, Faxed documents to your personal doctor, Prescription sent to your pharmacist, and even waiting time can exceed your actual time in which your app was assigned even if you get there 15 mins before hand. Every time you call you get directed to a call center not the place you visited. Terrible organization & Call center can be very rude.
I’d rate it negative stars if I could! I took my 17 year old daughter there for birth control yesterday, appointment was for 4:30 and they didn’t call her name until 5:07. She then sat in a room alone for an hour , when the dr actually came to talk to her she was in there for less than 2 minutes!! She didn’t ask my daughter if she had any questions, she didn’t explain the options to her, she didn’t even make eye contact with her!! I as her mother was told I was not allowed to even speak with anyone regarding my child’s options etc....The worst customer service ever and such rude people working there. We were very disappointed and dissatisfied. Plus it cost $58 to endure that. The fee was for a Doctor’s consultation on her options and information, HA!!Go to your primary doctor for birth control unless you want to deal with what we did!
The doctor there was unprofessional and unsanitary, end of story. she walked in and didnt right off address me, the patient whom was having a minor surgery, but was having conversation about a gym membership and eating junk food with a nurse. she then went to numb me up, did not wash her hands, put gloves on and proceed to touch her face and play in her hair with the gloves on. not only that but I was not numbed properly and felt the entire procedure when she THEN hit a vein and took a while to get the bleeding under control. I was honestly disgusted. being a doctor you would think shed be disgusted by the thought of not being sanitary. will NOT be returning
No new patients??? Isn’t that what you all are here for?????? A place to go when you don’t have anywhere to go??????? Seriously???????
Came here for an app and was late due to my transportation being unreliable and was still seen. I also was scheduled at a different PP but they simply transferred my info over. Were super accommodating and nice to be even though I was a mess. Definitely recommend going here :-)
Great place except the female name Erica who works in billing. She is extremely angery as if she hates her job. She is extremely unprofessional. The last time I went she busted in the room while I was getting a procedure done and got catty with the nurse about billing inquiries. It was very awkward and hostal and uncomfortable.... I never went back because that was the 2nd time she did that. Its sad they allow people to be treated like that.
I have been calling for my daughters birth control refill for 7 days now without 1 return phone call. Very frustrated and disappointed and so blessed patient 1st was here to help when PLANNED PARENTHOOD wasnt. Maybe they wanted to help my daughter plan her parenthood since they wouldnt refill rx.
They didn’t accept my insurance (not their fault, totally Cigna’s fault) but the person, Sade, at the front desk recommended several small bookstores so our trip to the city wasn’t wasted. That was so sweet and considerate and turned a frustrating moment into a great afternoon.
This is the WORST doctors office Ive ever been to! The ghetto girls that sit up front are VERY unprofessional, passing each other cigarettes all out in the open as I was trying to schedule my next appt. The day before my next appt they called to say I needed to reschedule, while trying to reschedule they left me on hold for 30 mins so I hung up and just called another doctors office and got in that very next day. I will NEVER go back to planned parenthood again. Not to mention the wait times are out of this world!
The most caring, understanding & amazing place. Ive been going here since l was 23 and had a miscarriage. Im 34, l still use them. Ive gone to other primary care docs in my life & lve never been treated better than l have here. Thank you PP, lll use you until my parts fall off lol.
Wouldnt even give one star never have got back in a reasonable time always have to wait for 3 hours plus I came into just for blood work already been here for 2 hours still havent got it done!!!!! Disappointed! Nurse at front desk was very rude to a few people in waiting room!! Just over all will never refer anyone to planned Parenthood!!! I could say so much more on the issues Ive had here and this is my third time coming here!! Will never come back!!!!!!
I have had nothing but issues attempting to get my birth control refills. The doctor has told me she called the RX in several times then forgotten; causing me to drive over an hour out of my way. Recently Ive been corresponding with a staff member named Courtney Jones who has been extremely unhelpful and has asked me multiple questions she should know the answer to by looking in my chart. Ive been attempting to get my RX refilled for the past 10 DAYS. Most recently Courtney told me my RX would be called in- guess what, it wasnt. Do not go here since they seem to forget about patient service as soon as they collect your payment.
I loved everything about this place ! They treated me so good . I came all the way from Atlanta and they took great care of me the whole entire time I was there .
Was told by the nurse to call if pain medications were not helping my pain for my procedure. I called and I know it was late but the person who answered dismissed my frustration and invalidated my need for further attention.
Medical staff is great, but the administrative staff is horrendous. Office is often closed early (15-20min before 7pm) during the week. Admin staff is always rude and fails to provide me with requested documentation time and time again.
I had a very positive experience here. NP was awesome. Truly compassionate and understanding. The staff I was in contact with were very professional. I will continue to go here and support them.
There was the worst mold Ive seen in years right above the check in! I have an autoimmune condition specifically related to mold so I know it when I see it. I cannot comprehend how a medical facility (in our country) can be operating with that issue!!! I scheduled my pap weeks ago and dont know when I will have the chance to find another place. We had to walk out; I am shocked and appalled.
The VLPP staff at this location are amazing! Every single person I came into contact with was friendly, professional and a pleasure to talk to. Thank you for being around for our community!
Was told at set up of appointment that they took my Medicaid then all of a sudden they didnt and he didnt even work on my foot and ankle which was the real reason I was there to begin with from a auto accident
Every staff member was extremely helpful. I never once felt judged and they helped me solve my problems quickly and efficiently. I am so thankful.
The people are all really nice. They need more funding for more staff to answer the phone and a better records/patient portal system... get ready to leave voicemails.
Absolutely impossible to get in touch with anyone. The one time in over 10 calls that I actually was able to talk to someone, she acted like shed never talked on a phone before.
There very friendly and kind. Were respectful of my needs and helped me start my transition! Trans friendly staff!Thank you!
The staff was efficient and professional. I feel as if the timing of the visit was adequately expedited and any delays in care were clearly expressed.
I’ve had nothing but great experiences from here. Very compassionate staff who care about what they do.
Calling the number and it says they are open until 6pm today online but the planned parenthood automated system says they are closed. Do they jot have a direct office number? This is frustrating because I really need to be seen.
I wish I could give this location 0 stars. Highly dissatisfied with service and staff. Stay far away from here for your routine GYN visits!
Staff was all respectful, kind, and inclusive. In and out quickly, and had answers to all my questions. An easy visit!
The staff here is so great and friendly, they somehow know how make everything so much easier and less stressful for me
Great spot to get your Borto on. Never mind the creeps out front and the pawn shoppers in the back. Walk in get a scrape and move on.
I fuxking love this place and the people here! They are so sweet and comforting. I get my meds here. Highly recommend. Yee
Just wasted an hour to not see a doctor. Can see why they need to be defunded. Won’t be back.
Very respectful, very trans-friendly, very kind and helpful! Couldnt ask for a better experience
All the staff I met today were extremely respectful and kind. :)
Very nice facility, and incredibly well-educated and empathetic staff.
Extremely helpful friendly doctors and nurses, great prices for someone without insurance
Exceptionally warm and competent staff made me feel safe
Staff is empathetic and sincere. Visited in 2016.
The communication the staff at the front desk is not welcoming
Had a couple visits, no Problems.
Horrible.
I get in and get out very quickly.
Wonderful caring staff ❤
They suck
Friendly, helpful, and informative.
Good clinic
Horrible service
Very slowwww
