Dr. Mackoul is incredibly knowledgeable and took the time to answer all my questions. He put my mind at ease and made me feel that I was safe in his hands. His kindness, caring manner along with his Excellent surgical skills gave me a positive outcome. I am forever grateful and would definitely recommend him to other women suffering GYN conditions. I was up walking around in three days which is phenomenal! Thank you!
Dr. Mackoul is an exceptionally talented surgeon. I had been dealing with fibroids and endometriosis that were hindering my fertility and lowering my quality of life overall. Dr. Mackoul was very understanding of my concerns and knew exactly how to help. I am only 3 weeks post-op and I already feel so much better. Endometriosis and fibroids suck, but its really nice to know Dr. Mackoul is here to help.
I recently underwent surgery, and my experience was exceptional from start to finish. The procedure went smoothly, thanks to the expertise and precision of the surgical team. What truly stood out was the remarkable recovery time. The structured and efficient recovery process set by the team played a crucial role in my swifthealing. The dedication and professionalism of everyone involved made a significant difference, and I am incredibly grateful for their care and support. Overall, my experience was positive and reassuring, and I highly recommend their services.
Dr Paul J Mackoul is a gem of a person. As I was diagnosed with multiple fibroids, largest one was 11.5 cm. Right from my initial appt, to my surgery, to my post op follow up he was professional, cooperative and very knowledgeable. He answered all my questions and concerns. Made sure that I was comfortable. He is a great surgeon. My surgery and recovery both went perfect with no pain medications. Dr Mackoul and his entire surgical team is very professional, caring and patient. I would highly recommend Dr Mackoul and Center for modern surgery for any gyn and surgical related problems. Stay Blessed Dr Mackoul and a big Thank you to the entire medical team.
Recovery time was faster than expected. No pain medication needed. It was the best decision for me to have a laparoscopic hysterectomy done by Dr. MacKoul. This is definitely the way to go if you are dealing with fibroids, endometriosis; the heavy bleeding was debilitating. I had a pulmonary embolism due to birth control to regulate my period, several iron infusions due to anemia, and I passed out due to the heavy bleeding…every month I didn’t know what to expect. During the consultation with Dr. MacKoul, he gave me reassurance that I could get my life back…I am glad I chose him to do the procedure. The icing on the cake was that my insurance covered it; although, he was out of network.
Dr. Mackoul is a wonderful surgeon. He answered every question and concern, no matter how small, to make sure I was comfortable. He was also very easy to reach when I had other questions. The surgery and recovery went beautifully. I stopped pain meds two days after. I was doing laundry and was back to work before the end of the week! 😂 I was very scared to go through with this, but his confidence in what he does was unwavering, and that put me at ease 100%. I highly recommend him for any GYN surgery.
Recovery was what to do be expected went well and as smooth as it can. Was able to get back to my normal routine less then 2 weeks. Also was able to find unanswered questions. Thank you, Dr. MacKoul & his team.
Dr. MacKoul is a gifted doctor and surgeon. He has the best bedside manner and is customer focused. He puts you at ease no matter what surgery you might need. In 2009, I came to Dr. MacKoul to remove a dermoid cyst that had taken over one of my ovaries. He offered laparoscopic surgery while other doctors wanted to cut me open with weeks of recovery time. I was scheduled to travel out of the country; he did my surgery and I traveled overseas two weeks later. Recovery time was minimal, and he assured me that my fertility would not be affected because the other ovary was very healthy. Since 2009, I have had three kids and I returned to Dr. MacKoul for another laparoscopic surgery this year. The surgery was successful, and I was back to normal activities a week later and continued to heal well. His staff was very professional, courteous, and organized. They scheduled my surgery within a short period of time (2-to-3-week timeframe). Other places, I was waiting months to be scheduled for the surgery. His staff made it easy to schedule and I am appreciative of him and his staff. Keep up the great professional and caring patient work. You all are appreciated and I am definitely going to refer other women to him.
I had friboids removal surgery with him two years ago. He saved my life, because I was struggling with anemia and the only treatment other doctors offered me were to remove the uterus (I am a black woman). Dr Mackoul is very skilled and professional. I will recommend it to anyone. I am healthy and no scars! I didnt give 5 stars because some of his staff can be rude over the phone.
This was my second myomectomy to remove fibroids. Dr. Mackoul is always very thorough, precise and informative. He educates me very well on what is going on with visual examples. He went below the surface and discovered more than imagery could show. He also removed some endometriosis and problematic cyst. My incisions are always very clean, neat, and barely visible once they heal. To be a man of his caliber he always displays great bedside manner, with a very easy personality. I am well pleased with his work once again.
I had been suffering for many years with fibroids and heavy bleddings. I had consulted with two different OBGYN, one of them suggesting embolization and the other a complete Hysterectomy. I am so glad i found Dr. Mackoul who performed my Laparoscopic supracervical hysterectomy. The surgery was a total success. He removed my uterus, fallopian tubes and multiple fibroids ranging from sizes of 4cm up to 9.5 cm. He left my ovaries so i can continue with my normal menopause process.Dr. Mackoul is an excellent doctor, very understanding and he made me feel confident and save about the procedure I had. His team was also diligent and caring. All the nurses were very attentive pre and post surgery. Im very happy with the results and I would highly recommend Dr. Mackoul.
Overall it was an amazing experience! Dr. Mackoul performed my hysterectomy in February 2023. From my initial appt, to my surgery, to my post-op follow up, he was professional , knowledgeable, friendly and caring. His calm demeanor and experience, with my unique situation, put my fears at ease. I felt like I was in such good hands with Dr. Mackoul. He had an excellent bedside manner. My recovery was quick and better than expected. I feel like a new person, and I have Dr. Mackoul to thank. He changed my life. I highly recommend him and the Surgery Center in Secaucus.
Ive come from Europe and was delighted to have met Dr Mackoul, whose expertise is undoubtedly at its best. My surgery was flawless; I was at my best a week after the operation. Id recommend the center and Dr Mackoul for any surgical problems related to Gyn Onco.
Dr Paul Mackoul is the greatest GYN specialist that ever blessed this planet. I felt like I was running out of options to preserve my fertility because of such a large fibroid that I had but from my first consultation he made me feel at ease all the way to my surgery date. Day of surgery it started right on the dot and went incredibly smooth. My uterus is preserved, and my quality of life is restored again. I’m so incredibly happy with my decision of coming here! Dr Mackoul was a personal recommendation and I can vouch for him for anyone who feels like a fibroid is ruining their life. Just make the simple decision of scheduling a consultation, and you too will feel from the offices professionalism and doctors extreme care concern and expertise that you have made the right first step.
Dr Mackoul did a fantastic job with my hysterectomy. Everything went as he describes in his youtube videos. He was so pleasant and you can tell he is dedicated to helping women live a better quality of life. This is big to me being a black woman that is usually overlooked as a patient. The youtube videos really help me advocate for my own health. I was well informed prior to my consultation. After my surgery I was walking the same day. The pain was moderate. The scaring is almost none existent. The worse part about the process was the taste of the antibiotics. I lost a few pounds, but I have to workout to lose more. I feel like my legs are not as thick as they were before the surgery as if I may have been holding water weight or something. The facility is super clean, all the staff are nice and professional. Quick to answer any questions even before you have one. I was so comfortable and excited to have my surgery done. I felt like a kid on their way to Disneyland. This was big for me. I had been dealing with painful periods for over 30 years and Im only 45.Dr Mackoul was even nice enough to remove a cyst on my ovaries that stem back more than 27 years ago. This was the very first indication of my reproductive problems, but I was told that I just had to deal with it and the painful periods as if it was normal. But its not.If you are dealing with a similar issue please contact the Center to find out your options. You are worth it.
Dr. Mackoul and team were absolutely great. The surgery went as expected and the team was very friendly and courteous. The pain from the surgery was minimal and I was able to get back to my regular activities within 2 weeks.
I had my surgery (myomectomy and umbilical endometriosis excision) done by Dr. Paul Mackoul a month ago and I feel great today. I got strong enough to return to work 2 weeks after surgery. My first time meeting with Dr. Mackoul, he explained my condition clearly to me with a hand drawing sketch and immediately put me at ease with the details and insights that he provided about the procedure. I have to admit that his drawing for me was the moment that got my attention and made me realize that I came to the right place.I left that day with a great sense of relief because I knew then that I was in good hand with this Doctor.I only met him 3 times (consultation, surgery day and post- surgery) within a month, but he is by far my favorite Doctor.Im so thankful for Dr. Mackoul, for his knowledge and skills he applied in providing me with the best treatment care and also to provide solution to cut down the cost of the surgery for me.Thank you Dr. Mackoul, you are amazing!
I was really nervous to have my surgery to remove fibroids. Dr. Mackoul was absolutely professional and gave me all my options and made it very clear what the pros and cons were to each procedure. Ultimately, I went ahead and did the LAAM procedure and 15 fibroids were taken out along with some endometriosis. My side effects were minimal given the kind of surgery I had and the amount of fibroids taken out and I was back in the gym after the 3rd week. I will 100% recommend Dr. Mackoul to anyone looking to do a similar surgery.
I had a laparoscopic myomectomy with Dr. Mackoul back in May 2009. He removed my 3.5 lb fibroid and two cysts. Thanks to his fine work I was able to conceive and carry two children full term. Flash forward, 10 years later (Nov 2019) I went back for another major procedure and my recovery time was impressive. I was back to my normal routine within a week! Dr. Mackoul really knows what hes doing and youre in great hands. Hes very soft spoken but extremely knowledgeable and will answer all of your questions. The day of surgery liked that there wasnt an extensive wait time at the surgery center. We literally were in and out. I was apprehensive about outpatient services since this was major surgery but thankfully everything went as described. Thank you to Paul Mackoul and his staff!
I had been suffering for many years with painful periods. This last year things took a turn for the worst. Due to endometriosis I had abdominal ascites. I looked 4 months pregnant. After searching for months I finally made an appointment with Dr. Mackoul. The best thing I ever did. He saved my life. After surgery I feel like a new person. I owe it all to him. I felt in good hands from the first appointment to having surgery. Thank you Dr. Mackoul! I so glad I found him!
I cannot thank Dr. Mackoul and his team members enough for their special medical care and patient concern during my gyno surgery. I had to make the very difficult decision to have a hystecromy due to potential cancer issues. Dr. Mackoul listened patiently to all my questions and gave his recommendations. Without this surgery, my cancer could have spread, so thank God I listened to his recommendations. The medical and surgical care and excellent patient experience and services I received from Dr MacKoul and every team member I interacted with was so excellent, and I dont impress easily:) From my initial consultation to my biopsy, surgery and post-op appointment everything was excellent and well above the norm! I was concerned out surgery center surgery versus the hospital and was not disappointed at all. Everthing is top quality and well thought out and planned. Most importantly, Dr. Mackoul and his team members made me feel as if I was the most important patient in their practice which is so valuable to the patient experience!
Dr. Mackoul was willing and able to help me even after several doctors turned me away. He made me completely comfortable throughout the entire process. He made everything clear and easy for me to understand. He was great speaking with my husband and keeping him in the loop. I am extremely grateful that I had him perform my partial hysterectomy, especially afterwards when we realized my situation was worse than expected. He is really amazing!
I recently had surgery with Dr. MacKoul for a large fibroid that caused massive blood loss during menstrual cycles and resulted in severe anemia. I cannot say enough about my experience with Dr. Mackoul and his staff. They are kind and professional and efficiently coordinated my surgery, answered my questions, and got back to me quickly when necessary. The offices I visited - Reston, Virginia for my consult and the office and surgery center in Rockville, Maryland - are clean and comfortable. Ive read some of the other comments about Dr. MacKouls manner and Id like to say my initial impression was similar. For those of us whove worked with surgeons its fairly familiar, but it even took me a moment because by the time I made the consult appointment I was physically and mentally exhausted, particularly with men who didnt seem to understand the severity this has on ones life. Then to be told much of the information Id been given to that point was incorrect, and the procedure Id had done (twice) (dont do CuraWave, ladies) doesnt work was ... rough. But he was right. And hes an excellent and exceptional surgeon who significantly changed my life for the better. My surgery (to remove my uterus and the large fibroid it contained while leaving my cervix and ovaries intact) has been overwhelmingly positive. The day and evening of surgery was uncomfortable, but my recovery has been remarkably swift and nearly pain free. I feel SUCH relief its hard to describe and only wish Id chosen to have surgery by Dr. MacKoul sooner. I highly encourage women to consider the options available to them at Innovations Surgery Center.
Dr. Mac is the man. He is awesome. When I tell you that he knows his stuff… he knows it. Extremely professional, friendly and courteous. He has no problems with explaining things to you. Not to mention he is an artist. He drew exactly what he would be doing for my surgery. I was like if he could draw the procedure free-handed then he definitely wouldn’t have a problem with the surgery. Surgical team friendly and courteous. I almost forgot. They played Prince and then I was out. When I woke up it was done. Just like that. Having surgery is scary but when in the right hands it’s reassuring.
My experience with Dr. MacKoul was absolutely stellar. He reviewed my images and told me step-by-step how he would operate on my fibroid. My surgery went very smoothly, and my recovery was incredibly fast. I was able to drive to the store and go shopping just 7 days after my surgery! I have and will continue to recommend him to my friends and family.
Dr Mackoul and the team at Center for Innovative care were superb. The level of care they provided and their bedside manner were top notch. They tried to tell me how minimally invasive the surgery was but I only half believed them. It was amazed at how mobile i was able to be and how little pain i was in after my procedure. Their team were also diligent with providing paperwork and answering questions. Highly recommend .
Dr. MacKoul is a special doctor with skills that are incredible. I felt he was a gift from God to me. I traveled over 1,000 miles to have surgery with Dr. MacKoul in his New Jersey surgery center. I would recommend him as a doctor and this facility and staff to anyone. The entire process was positive. I had been so scared of having surgery for years and if I would have known what the experience would have been, I would not have waited. He is an amazing, skilled doctor who is focused on safety and what he accomplished with my procedure was incredible. I had multiple large fibroids with the largest being over 20 cm. And he did it laparoscopically and outpatient. I only took pain meds the first night as a precaution but I did not take anymore prescription meds. I had traveled for this surgery and took the next 10 days to recover ( my choice) in Airbnb’s and hotels along with my family. Even though I was recovering, it was still a positive getaway. On day 3 po I was watching sailboats in Annapolis and day 4&5 po I was touring DC with my family. I had to be in a wheelchair for all the sightseeing ( because it required too much walking) but just the fact that I was able to make these memories along side my family was incredible ... and with no pain meds. This is thanks to the skill of Dr. MacKoul! I feel like a new person and I highly respect, appreciate, and recommend him!
Dr. Paul Mackoul was my surgeon back in 1989. I had a historectamy. He was very professional and informative. I was only 28 at the time. I was very afraid. I had cancer. I am now 59. Thank you
By Angie Rodriguez on Jan 13th, 2016The staff was so friendly, the ppl at Innovative surgery center went above and beyond to make sure I was taken care of! I came from Atlanta to Maryland to have Dr. Mackoul preform a laparoscopic myomectomy. I didnt like what I was being told in Atlanta! Dr. Mackoul called me and went over everything with me, his staff was extremely attentive, everything was set up before I got here. Dr. Mackoul was very thorough and my surgery went as planned smoothly. His operating nurses were top notch and so friendly! The anesthesiologist was great. Recovery was amazing because my recovery nurse really catered to me. I had a 15 centimeter fibroid removed through two small incisions. Im resting now at my hotel. I HIGHLY recommend Dr. Mackoul for your fibroid procedure! Thanks Dr. Mackoul for saving my uterus and taking great care of me!!!
Dr. Mackoul is very professional, courteous, and thorough. My surgery and recovery went smoothly. I feel many times better than I did prior to surgery even though I am only a few weeks out from it. At one appointment Dr. Mackoul had a scheduling conflict and I saw Dr. Baxi instead - he was fully up-to-date on my case and very helpful. Everyone at the practice with whom I came in contact was professional, courteous, and and friendly. I would not hesitate to recommend Dr. Mackoul or his practice to anyone.
Dr. Mackoul is a very skilled surgeon. I am 2 months post op and my recovery was great void of any complications. I was walking 1.5 miles twice a day my second week of recovery, and 3 miles straight by my third week. I owe this to Dr. Mackouls knowledge and surgical skills which are truly a blessing to womens health. I would highly recommend anyone who is in need of any kind of gynecological surgery to make the trip to see Dr. Mackoul. It will be the best decision you have ever made for your health care.
I traveled to have my surgery at CIGC with Dr. MacKoul after researching my condition- Fibroids with a very enlarged uterus- and being disappointed with the choices available to me in New York. All I kept being told was that I wouldn’t be able to have a minimally invasive laparoscopic surgery because my uterus and fibroids were too large. I was told I’d have a fully open surgery (15” incision “) with a minimum of 6-8 weeks of recovery which also meant being unable to get back to work for a while. This was even more frustrating to me once I happened upon The Center for Innovative GYN Care during my research and realized that I could quite realistically expect a better procedure and far better outcome. I read the reviews for Dr. MacKoul and watched the testimonials of other patients, which gave me hope. I called Dr. MacKoul’s Office and spoke with Mimi who was so wonderful (they all are) as she explained the process. I sent in my Ultrasound and MRI reports as per her instructions; if I were a candidate for this procedure I would receive a phone consultation with the Dr.Soon after submitting my reports, I got an appt. for a consultation. I was so happy!Dr. MacKoul called me and his first words to me after introducing himself were- “What do you want to do?”Not- “Ohhh well are you done having kids? Ok,good then let’s get that uterus and everything else out.” Like other Dr.’s said flatly. Dr. MacKoul actually asked me what I wanted to do and LISTENED. My choice was to have a hysterectomy. I’m 47 have 3 great children and really just wanted my health and energy back.My surgery was challenging in that my uterus was super enlarged; it was up to my sternum basically which is scary. It & the fibroids etc. weighed 5lbs! Dr. MacKoul was able to perform my surgery laparoscopically with tiny incisions that are barely noticeable. It’s been 7 weeks as of today, my energy is back, my weight went down by 20lbs. I’m not wearing maternity looking clothes or being asked “When are you due?” by strangers. I’m walking more on par with my old routine of 3 miles a day.Dr. MacKoul is downright amazing in his knowledge and skill as a surgeon I could not have asked for a better Dr. who actually listens and understands what matters to women, not just feeling and looking better but being able to get back to feeling healthy and frankly normal again. This surgery has been a life saver and game changer for me and I am so very thankful for Dr. Paul MacKoul.aka- #DrMacCOOL :)
Dr. Mackoul preformed a myomectomy and endometriosis surgery for me last year and I had a wonderful recovery. I am scheduled for a second surgery with him this May and I am confident that this surgery will also be performed with exceptional skill and precision. Having endometriosis is definitely a journey to wellness and I am so thankful that Dr. Mackoul is an integral part of my wellness journey.
Dr. Mackoul is by far one of the best doctors I’ve ever seen in my life!! He has so much passion, and dedication to do what he does. I think it’s very important to find a doctor (if needed) that is going to make you feel like an individual. And not just another number. My procedure was probably one of the easiest things I’ve done. I was on my feet hours later and got married 3 DAYS later!!!
Dr. Mackoul what can I say - you are amazing at what you do! He explained in depth what to expect during and after my surgery. I was very nervous to go through with the fibroid surgery (I was actually against it) but my fear subsided after his thorough explanations, videos I watched on this website and research I did. He saw me right away; his surgeries are on time and post recovery was not too bad. You can tell when someone is gifted and has a passion for the work. Thank you.
The staff was courteous and professional. As promised Dr. MacKoul delivered an easy and fast recovery. I put this surgery off for so long because I didnt want to take time off or have my life restricted. Having suffered with Adenomyosis for years, many support groups described a slow, miserable return to normalcy that could take months. I had the procedure on Friday. I was driving by Sunday and was able to take a Zumba class by day 16. I was back at work after 1 week. Today marks 3 weeks since my procedure and I feel better today than I have in years.I wish I had found this practice sooner but Im glad I waited until I found them.
On May 7th, 2018 Dr. MacKoul removed 4 fibroid tumors and endometriosis. I traveled from Indiana and I am so glad I choose The Center of Innovative GYN Care. I was told for a year by Indiana GYNs that I only had 1 large fibroid in my uterus, turns out I had 4 in my cervix. Dr. MacKoul was able to remove them without having to do a full hysterectomy. I am so grateful and thankful that I did my research and found Dr. Mackoul. He is definitely the best at what he does. Ladies I would strongly recommend contacting this facility before you make your final decision on surgery. Thank you to everyone at The Center for Innovative Gyn Care. You all are God sent to all women who endure fibroids.
I am very late with this rating! I saw Dr. Mackoul and team in June 2019 for a hysterectomy. I cant say enough about how amazing they all were! My pain was minimal, I actually went to the movies the next night! If any woman is contemplating thus procedure, I highly recommend them. Minimum cuts, little pain, one if the best decisions I made! Thank you to Dr. Mackoul and team for your care and flawless hands!
I just returned from surgery with Dr. Paul Mackoul and am so thankful! I traveled from Dallas to Innovations Surgery Center for my procedure. Dr. Mackoul answered all of my questions and I was back on my feet the next day. Im now a week out and am walking around without any pain or complications. I would highly recommend that any woman out there always get a second opinion from Dr. Mackoul before they proceed with any robotic or open surgery procedures. This has absolutely changed my life and I cannot recommend him or his team enough.
Dr. MacKoul was very pleasant, knowledgeable and professional. He took time to explain the procedure & answer all of my questions, thus calming my fears about the surgery. The scheduling process was extremely easy. Excellent follow-up.What I liked best: The confidence going into it because I was comfortable with the surgeon & staff + the constant follow-up after the surgery. I would highly recommend Dr. MacKoul.
I cannot say enough wonderful things about Dr. Mackoul and the staff at the Center for Innovative GYN Care. I had a very large, pedunculated fibroid (11 cm) located on the outside of my uterus. The fibroid started out small when first diagnosed years ago and my then OB/GYN suggested watchful waiting. While I had no pain or bleeding with this type of fibroid, I did, however, over this past year, notice that I was having some symptoms that included bloating, the appearance of a lump when laying down, and frequent urination. I heard about Dr. Mackoul while listening to WTOP on the way to work one morning. I contacted the Center and was able to get a consult appointment at the Annapolis office. Because I am 47 years old, and do not plan to have children, a hysterectomy was recommended, but leaving my one ovary. I was very nervous, but Dr. Mackoul was very reassuring and explained to me everything I needed to know. I had surgery at Holy Cross Hospital. I came home that evening, took a pain pill to help me sleep that night. When I woke up the next morning, I couldn’t believe how good I felt. I only used Motrin for the next two days and returned to work six days later. You can’t even tell where my incisions were! All I can say is my experience from beginning to end has been top notch. For women that are told they need invasive surgery, you MUST make an appointment with Dr. Mackoul. You will not regret it. He is amazing.
Dr. Mackoul is a gem! Best medical experience Ive ever had. He and his team are professional, caring, knowledgable, patient & skilled. Wish I had met him 5 years ago and saved myself so much pain, bleeding, and discomfort. He gave me my life back and Im forever grateful!
I have had two surgeries with Dr MacKoul- one in 2010 and one this past May 2013. While I felt in 2010 that he did not have an amazing bedside manner, I now know him better as a doctor and realize that he is very thorough in a brief time. Dr. MacKoul is professional and friendly – I trust his opinion and honesty. He has been available to me via phone and email when needed and I truly feel that his bedside manner has greatly improved! I would recommend him to anyone with gynecological issues.
I had a fibroid surgery 6 years ago the recovery was long and painful, so this April (2019) I decided to go to GYN to get the minimal invasion surgery done by Dr. Mackoul even I had to travel from Michigan to Maryland. Dr. Mackoul did such a great job to removal the big fibroid with a very small cut (less than 2!), he is very professional and probably the best surgeon in the field. Although the cost is not cheap (same as the open surgery), it is worth it if you have a good insurance. Of course, each case is different, maybe that is why someone may not be as happy. In my case it only took 2 days for me to recover and able to travel back home. If I have to do another fibroid removal surgery, I would definitely go back to Dr. Mackoul.
Dr. MacKoul is not only a great surgeon who has developed a laparoscopic technique that decreases post op pain and greatly shortens recovery times, hes also a caring person who listens, and talks the patient through concerns and issues. I had not had surgery before and have health conditions that could interfere with anesthesia and recovery. Dr. MacKoul listened to my concerns, and, together, we decided on the procedure that was best for me. He clearly cared about my concerns and my needs, and wanted to make my surgery as painless as possible and my recovery as quick as possible. And he did. Care after the surgery was phenomenal, too. I had questions, and he and the other doctors were available 24/7 to answer questions. The office staff was just as helpful. If youre considering laparoscopic surgery for gynecological conditions, please consider Womens Surgery Center. They will give you the best care possible....and they will care about you, too.
When I was 35 years old, I had a major surgery performed by Dr Paul Mackoul in January of 2017. My case was complex and Dr Mackoul said to me that he was not a miracle worker but that he will do his best to save my uterus. It should be noted that I approached many doctprs for years seeking help to save my uterus but they all gave me only one option: a hysterectomy. I could not accept that because I wanted children and I was in my 20s at the time. Thankfully I am kept searching for 10 years and stumbled upon Dr Paul Mackoul and CIGC online. Dr Mackoul removed 33 large fibroids from my uterus and yes I still had my uterus, the lingering question: was my uterus viable?. More than 2 years later, I delivered a beautiful baby boy. Dr Mackoul defied the odds and worked a miracle or two of his own. My OBGYN was amazed by Dr Mackouls work. As for me and my son, we are eternally grateful. Thank you Dr Paul Mackoul and CIGC for all that you do.Best Regards,J.B
I had two surgeries performed by Dr. MacKoul and his staff in less than 7 months. I must say the bedside manner and ongoing assistance provided was world-class on both occasions. The first surgery in August 2018, he removed 45 fibroids! From the size of a pea up to the size of a cantelope. Unfortunately, my desire to preserve my fertility was short lived, as I developed a condition that I was fully aware could happen, and have to have a hysterectomy a few months later. The service I received in March 2019, was on par with my previous experience. Thanks to Dr. MacKoul, I am relieved of years of pain from fibroids and heavy cycles.
Dr. Mackoul was able to perform a complete hysterectomy with no complications from the severe endometriosis. Dr. MacKoul explained the procedure & took plenty of time to answer questions. Was called & checked on twice by nurses, very caring. I was fully informed about both the positive and negative outcomes and the risks of procedures. I felt much better after a few days. I wish I had done this sooner. Dr. Mackoul and his staff are the best.
Dr. MacKoul is top-notch and a cut above the rest in his field!! My initial consultation with him was very professional, factual and delivered with care and compassion. I left his office feeling reassured, hopeful and confident in his abilities that I started the scheduling process the next day for my surgery; there was nothing else to think about. I previously consulted with three physicians prior to meeting Dr. MacKoul and I knew right away after meeting him that I chose the right physician for my issue. I highly recommended him!. He is an expert in his field and it shows. He has a cohesive team that made the entire process smooth. They are awesome as well!. I cant sing his praises enough! What else can I say except, I wish he was my primary care physician!. Kudos to Dr. MacKoul!
Dr. MacKoul is an amazing surgeon with exceptional skills! You will not find a better doctor anywhere! No wonder women are flying to the Washington, D.C. area to see him from all over the country, and even the world! He is kind and compassionate....he will explain everything in detail and even draw pictures, so the patient has a full understanding of her condition and solution! Five stars are not enough!
Dr. Mackoul was great to meet with, professional and diligent. I was pleased to see that he didn’t immediately recommend surgery and instead listened to my concerns. He thoroughly looked over my issues, giving me an honest answer of what level of treatment was appropriate. He was interested in only providing services if needed and I feel glad that I went in to explore this option. I highly recommend CIGC and Dr. Mackoul.
The care and service I received from Dr MacKoul and every staff member I interacted with from my initial consultation to my biopsy, surgery and post-op appointment, was above and beyond what I hoped for! My questions were answered, they were patient with me but, most importantly, they made me feel as if I was the most important patient in their practice. I was referred to Dr MacKoul by my sister and I have already referred one of my friends. Thank you, Dr MacKoul!
Dr. MacKoul and his entire team literally saved my life. I spent 4 years looking for an answer to explain all of my ailments, and Dr. MacKoul solved it in less than 4 minutes. The surgery techniques that this Center uses are so incredibly astounding and innovative, I almost can’t believe my own eyes. I wish I could give this place more stars for my review. After having a DualPortGYN®, minimally invasive laparoscopic hysterectomy I instantly felt better than I have in the past 23 years of my life. Literally all of my pains were completely gone. I was in their surgical center for less than 3 hours for this major surgery and 12 hours later I was out walking my dogs. No hospital stay, no noticeable incisions of any kind on my body, but entire organs were removed. How amazing is that? 6 weeks recovery the old fashioned way, or 12 hours with The Center for Innovative GYN Care.
Thank you, thank you, thank you! I feel so lucky to have found Dr. Mackoul and the Center for Innovative GYN Care on the internet. I was told that I had many fibroid tumors the largest being 25cm, and that my only option was to have an open surgery, which entailed 4-5 days in the hospital and an 8 week recovery; that was just not what I wanted to hear. I started researching on the internet, and luckily found Dr. Mackoul. I contacted the Center for Inn. GYN Care, scheduled a phone consultation with Dr. Mackoul, and 2 weeks later, June 23, 2016, I was having surgery. It was a complete success. I flew to Washington DC from Los Angeles Ca., on a Wed., had the surgery the following day, and flew back to California on Sunday. Its been 2 weeks since the surgery, and I can honestly say that Im feeling great. His staff from the initial call, through post op, have been extremely helpful, kind and friendly. They literally communicated everything to me, and made traveling across the country as stress free as possible. Yes, I was nervous having major surgery especially in a complete different state with a doctor that I had only met through a phone conversation. I am so glad that this is all behind me, and I am truly grateful to Dr. Mackoul, his staff and the nurses at Holy Cross Hospital; they all made a very stressful situation as pleasant as could be expected. Thank you!!!
Dr. Mackoul changed my life. I had a hysterectomy done back at the end of January. My migraines are gone and I can finally live my life without pain. I cant thank him or his staff enough for the difference his knowledge and expertise helped me.
Dr. MacKoul put me at ease from the very begginning. He took time to answer all my questions and those of my family. I had to have a very large ovarian cyst removed, plus a total hysteroctomy including both ovaries. I had almost no post-op pain. It was a delightful surprise. Only needed Ibruprophen some at night to sleep and could drive several days later. He is truly cutting edge. Turned out I had ovariarn cancer. Dr. MacKoul and his staff have turned out to be life savers. If he had not pushed me to have the surgery when he did, well who knows. After the diagnosis, during follow-up, Dr. MacKoul spent time going over the next steps and making sure I understood what was going on. I will need additional surgery after I complete chemo in 6 months or so. He is part of my team with my oncologist. I have not heard of other surgeons doing this. He is a surgeon, who actually has bedside manor, and cares about his patients.I highly recommend Dr. MacKoul. My children have nicknamed Dr. MacKool. He truly is Kool.
He took all my pain and agony away. What Dr. Mackoul predicted all came true. I urge any female who has fibroid issue to go to The Center Innovative GYN Care for a consultation and guidance. He is not about himself he is here to help with a pure conscience. I am forever grateful to Dr. Mackoul and his team for providing me with the utmost care. I would recommend Dr. Mackoul to my family and friends. I am so glad my friend from college forwarded an email containing a testimony regarding Dr. Mackoul and The Center Innovative GYN Care . My gynecologist provided me with a number to center and I am so glad I called.
There are not enough words or ways I can thank Dr. MacKoul and the Innovations Surgical Center. I had been suffering for years. It just so happened that moving from IL to MD saved my life. Doctors back home dropped the ball, but Dr. MacKoul did not and he found the source of my problem. I went through about 4 surgeries for my very severe endometriosis and adenomyosis that were damaging other organs to my body, but I can honestly say now that I have not felt this great in years. God saved my life leading me to this doctor, and this doctor gave me back my life. I cannot thank God, Jesus, and Dr. MacKoul enough.
Dr. Paul Mackoul and his team are amazing. I was certain that I was not going to be able to receive the surgery to remove my fibroids so in my research to find a doctor that would help me I found Dr. Mackoul! I thank God for him and his team my experience was the right discussion.
I would recommend Dr Paul for anyone needing surgery.I had been dealing with issues since the late 90’s and my gyn kept putting me off. I had 2 ablations and continued to have heavy periods with severe back pain almost continuously. I had a friend who referred me to Dr Paul. After my surgery and the test results came back he told me that had I waited any longer would have had endometrial cancer. Thank you Dr. Paul for being efficient. From the moment I came out of surgery I have had no back pain! This team is phenomenal!
Excellent surgeon, I recovered within in a week and able to exercise in less than 2 weeks. Very efficient group saw me on a Saturday and follow after surgery was on Sunday!!This surgery was one of the best decisions of my life.
Dr. MacKoul took time with me to explain the procedure and answer any questions I had. Hospital staff was gentle, kind, and professional. The laparoscopic surgery was fast and relatively painless; recovery was very fast. Follow-up by Dr. Mackouls staff was timely and appreciated.
Dr. Mackoul was very thorough and professional during my consult and in explaining the procedure and my condition (endometriosis). Surgery day went smoothly and post-op follow-up appointment was easy. Staff was friendly and helpful.
I was sent to Dr Mackoul due to a thickened endometrium that was believed to be Endometrial Cancer, Dr M was so quick to come into the exam room I almost didnt get to sit down. He spent many minutes explaining the procedure, the possibilities depending on the pathology and answered the 100s of questions I had even though I was repetative. I was terrified, he was very optimistic and due to my extreme anxiety over it, told me that he would do whatever he could to get me in for D & C quickly, I had my procedure 2 days later. I was then scheduled for a Laporascopic Hysterectomy in 6 days following. LITERALLY I have been a nurse for 24 years, and this man and surgery facility are BY FAR the best I have had the opportunity to be a part of. My pain level following surgery was I have and will continue to tell EVERYONE needing any type of Lap surgery to see this man. I had even had THREE C-Sections to which he said No Problem, I can do that....and he certainly did. He is incredible and the nurses were just beyond any I have known. HIGHLY recommend him, do yourself a favor and go with the PROS at this office.
I had been having issues since I was 19 years old. I could only assume what was causing my problems, and I was against throwing money, time, and recovery time at an already painful situation, with no guarantee that it would help me. I watched my mother go through all of that, and I knew I wanted to skip over all of the nonsense. I also knew that I never wanted to pass my bad genetics onto future children. Unfortunately, being 19, I could not find a single doctor to help me. This is my body, and for something that should be an elective surgery, it is unfortunate that doctors place their own views onto the subject. By age 23, my issues were getting worse, and I was beginning to look outside of the country for anyone who could help me; I was getting desperate. I searched everywhere, and at a long shot I submitted a form to Innovative GYN Care. They actually responded very quickly, towards the end of August 2016 they gathered all of my information, had me do a phone interview, Dr. MacKoul gave me different alternative options, and after explaining that a hysterectomy was the only way I wanted to go, he told me all of the facts that go along with such a surgery - making sure it was what I wanted. His scheduling department got me in surprisingly fast. My husband and I traveled 5 hours to go to Dr. MacKoul, but I can tell you that after being under his care, I would have flown across the world for him. I was scared to pieces! A couple of hours after my surgery, I was able to get up and walk to my wheelchair, from the wheelchair to my husbands car, and that night I was able to walk on my own to and from the bathroom. The following day I was able to do two entire flight of stairs; I had no problems walking or moving around. Within days I was able to play pool and go for a decent walk. Within a week I returned home to my large and jumping dogs. Within two weeks I was able to my highly-demanding nanny job working for a 20 month old special needs child who weighed 24 pounds. I am now 3 months post-op, and I have not felt better. I wish I found Dr. MacKoul at 19. I wish I had this done sooner. God bless that man, and that team who did such a beautiful job! One scar inside my bellybutton (cannot see it), and one 1 scar right at the top of the bikini line (you have to look super close, under really good lighting, to see it). The worst bit of the whole thing, was the gas used during surgery, that gets trapped in a persons diaphragm. I learned that there are nerve-endings from the diaphragm to a persons right shoulder, so the pain that is felt, is referred pain. It can get pretty intense, and lasted about 4-6 days for me. I could never go from walking around to lying down. For me, that referred pain was extremely worse when I did exactly that - to the point where I could not breathe. However, I did find that after walking, if I transition slowly by sitting down for a few minutes, reclining for a few minutes, then I could successfully lie down without having that intense pain. You will not regret your experience with Dr. MacKoul. Better than any robot out there. The photo of the funny T-shirts, was taken the night following my surgery. The abdomen picture and the happy selfie were both taken around 4 weeks post-op.
I had a wonderful experience with Dr. Mackoul. I had surgery in November 2013. Dr. Mackoul counseled me before surgery and explained all of my options. He is a brilliant surgeon.
Dr. Mackoul performed surgery on my Grandmother Patricia Ford on October 22, 2014. She loved him and so did my Dad and and I. He was very patient with me and my Dad, explaining the surgical procedure and the post-op instructions.
I had the laparoscopic myomectomy for fibroids on 5/3/19 and 3 days later I felt great. Dr. Mackoul is an amazing doctor.
After a long road to a probable diagnosis, Dr. Mackoul and Innovative GYN gave me the answers and surgery I needed. From the initial consultation to post operative care, this is the place and team to see when it feels like no one is listening, understands, or truly cares about your situation. They do.
I must say that Dr. Mackoul and his staff at the Reston office were amazing. From the moment I walked in the door; greeted by the friendly receptionist and later meeting Dr. Mackoul, I instantly felt like I would be in good hands. And I was. He is very skillful and knowledgeable in his field. I would highly recommend Dr. Mackoul.
Great experience ..I was sent to Dr Mackoul by my primary specialist team for a less evasive procedure with best possible outcomes and this was the best decision . Everything went well and would recommend this doctor to anyone. He actually cares.
If there was a minus star this guy would get it. Ive been a nurse for over 40 years and was on the nightmare end of this ? competent man. The nurses at Reston Hospital asked me if I was sure I knew about this doctor. Before surgery , he talked a good game. I would now compare him to a used car salesman. He refuesed to see me after the botched surgery and sent me to his parter (who did not know what a total hysterectomy was). I walked into the hospital NEVER peeing my pants. After the foley came out, everytime I stood up pee ran down my legs. AND IT STILL DOES.This man still refues to see me or admit he screwed up my life. Every doctor I have seen since the botched surgery, said they were sorry this happend to me after hearing WHO did the damage. I dont pee down my legs when I laugh, cough or have any of those stress incont issues. I PEE down my legs EVERY time I stand up. Getting out of the ar, I PEE down my legs. Getting up from dining in a resturant, I PEE. When I get up in chruch to receive communion, I PEE. Over the years this nightmare man claims HE LOST my records. How ODD, but the excellent REAL competent INOVA team and the UVA team have been treating me. Every doctor I have consulted after the screw up said the same thing SORRY this was done to you.Dont be fooled by the benefits of have little scars and abie to get back to work. I hope you seek other honest and a doctor who will not leave you after surgery. OR when you attempt to get your records, oops cant find them. And before you decide who to let cut into you, just think how sexy and romantic youll feel peeing on your partner. Yep, think more than twice and get other opinions.Call Cancer Centers for suggestions. His name was NOT on the list. Ask other doctors in the same field if they would let their family go this man. He may do simple things well, be informed, I wish I asked other GYN teams, or listened to the nurses at Reston Hospital. I let the fear of waiting override my common sense. I shold have not jumped at his pushing me to hvae surgery as soon as possible,Then after s partner saw me he passed by the door and yelled WHY do you WANT cancer? He never came into the room when I kept asking him why I was haveing such sever rectal pain and was peeing down my legs. His female partner told me a stich in my vagina was causing sever recatal pain. DUH, the vagina is NOT connected to the rectum. He WALKED away. The other doctors who have been treating ne, EACH one, said that the cup (top of the vagina) was not repaired properly. It was stiched with missing pieces folded over in tucks instead of a smooth suture line iit is made up in tucked pieces. with pockets (risk for infections). It was explained to me, it is like a hem of a dress hemmed with darts instead of a smooth hem. This happened to ME, and it culd happen to YOU. Beware of smooth talkers. Surgery is NOT the end of a doctor s responsibility.
I think Dr Mackoul is like God father to me, before seeing him i went through lot of mess with abnormal bleediing which made me thought i will die but i was been taken care by Dr Mackoul and today i am really thankful to him to save my life and get me well like before.he knows what he is doing and very experience doctor in town :) overall wonderful experience
I thought Dr. MacKoul was excellent, all questions were answered. It was almost everything I anticipated in the beginning, the timing was excellent. Now that I want to get pregnant the Doctor is someone I trust and am very much comfortable with. The staff at the office was excellent. There was truly nothing to complain about, they all couldn’t have done anything better, just need to continue to do what they do best.
I remember I used have typical menstrual pain, before I was transferred to this dr. To do a surgery 5 years ago, instead of getting better, I end up in excruciating pain. The worst was him saying I have nothing to do with this and that.Business man practicing on womens body,.
The doctor explained every aspect of my condition, it was like a perfect class, asked me questions about my concerns and listened to me like a person. I didnt have that for a long, long time. In the past I have been in many hospitals, visited many doctors and all of them treat you like you don’t know anything . And the truth is, we all are human beings with experiences and different kind of knowledge and we understand what you explain to us.
I feel very good about my experience. The staff and doctor were very caring and I felt I was in good hands. The surgery went great and recovery was not too bad.
I’m so grateful for Dr MacKoul and the rest of his team. I’m also thankful for all of the reviewers that made me confident in traveling across the country to receive his care. It was worth it!

I cannot recommend Dr. Paul Mackoul enough! As an Ehlers Danlos Syndrome (EDS) patient, I have always felt nervous about surgery due to my unique medical needs, but my experience with Dr. Mackoul exceeded all expectations. I recently had surgery for endometriosis, and from the very beginning, I felt genuinely cared for and listened to.Dr. Mackoul took the time to thoroughly explain the procedure, answer my many questions, and address my specific concerns related to EDS. His calm and empathetic approach immediately put me at ease, and his knowledge about managing EDS during surgery reassured me that I was in the best hands. The surgery itself went smoothly, and my recovery has been much easier than I anticipated.Throughout the process, Dr. Mackoul and his team were incredibly supportive, ensuring I was comfortable every step of the way. It’s clear that he truly cares about his patients and tailors his care to meet individual needs. I am so grateful for his expertise and compassion, and I highly recommend him to anyone, especially those with complex medical conditions like EDS.
