CHAS Health, what happened to you? You used to be cool.I had previous experiences at this clinic before the pandemic that were very positive but if you only read up to this line PLEASE believe the other negative reviews already posted about CHAS Southgate Clinic. And that is because CHAS Southgate Medical Clinic sucks. They suck on ice.The frontline staff and the people working their phone lines must be treated and paid poorly by the management because they sure act like it; however, I dont want to blame the employees too quickly when I think the blame should truly be laid at the feet of management. All the same, to anyone who is going to engage with CHAS... BEWARE! You will encounter casual, burnt-out indifference and apathy with everyone who works there.
My experience with this office has left me frustrated and in prolonged pain due to the deliberate indifference of Dr. Jesus Rendes. He has ignored my injuries, referred me to his former employer knowing the scope of their practice does not encompass pain from tears in the musculature or tendons. He quotes personal reservations to justify limiting his medical practice to sub par treatment. To limit a wholesome medical practice based on personal ideals has eliminated the natural course of care for me, leaving me to advocate for myself. If you actually want help, don’t go here. The chances of you being assigned someone who cares about what you are going thru is highly unlikely.
I love CHAS! They have a pharmacy, doctors and people who help with finances. They take most insurances and my doctor was super nice. Every experience Ive had with chas is positive. The nurse practitioners are amazing. My biggest bill was $50 and they provide a lot of services. When I learned they do homeless outreach and heard other patients speaking different languages in the waiting area, I was sold. Im going back!
This clinic is by far the worst Primary Care Clinic I’ve ever had encounters with. Their providers lack adequate time management and just seem uninterested. Even their front desk staff seem so unhappy to be checking you in. Always having a blank stare and are very monotone when talking.I’ve seen two providers including a Mental Health counselor here at this clinic for a total of 4-5 years. Meghan Dwayer was my PCP for majority of this time and was always passive aggressive and cold shoulder to a lot of my problems. Sierra Dean in my opinion was an alright Councelor, but our encounters always seemed rushed.Today though due to scheduling limitations I saw Jesus Rendon who was by far the most inconsiderate Joke of a Provider. He saw me for a total of 3 minutes before leaving me waiting in the exam room for over an hour while having the office Manager run in and out of the room giving me information he could’ve given to me himself. Mind you I had taken PTO to come to this appointment. All that time wasted including him accepting an appointment that he was aware about, just to not initial my paperwork that was signed by a colleague at my new clinic Chas Maple.I would 100% spare yourself a trip to the South Gate clinic if you don’t want your health to be treated like a paycheck.
Used to be awesome. Now they’re the worst in town. Cannot secure an appointment to save your life. Literally, they don’t care. Please try Kinwell
I was excited to have a clinic close to my home and I heard great things but my entire experience not just with this clinic, but Chas in general has been upsetting.I had to wait months for my first appointment only to be seen by a student and given new meds to try. I made my follow up appointment excited to see if the meds worked. Not only did the meds make me feel worse but my follow up appointment was canceled without my knowledge or consent leaving me struggle with my mental health because I had not been given the care I needed.I was told a referral was sent out regarding therapy but my appointment was in April and I still never got a call.I had to figure my own appointment which was only available in July. So I’ve gone from April to now with messed up meds, no help for my mental health and a huge lack of communication.I found an appointment at a different clinic but I was told I can’t go to other clinics and have to wait for my provider to be available.I also find incredibly frustrating that when I was called and told I couldn’t go to other clinics and I tried communicating that my meds have been messed nothing was done to help me get the care I needed.Maybe it’s better for other people but I will going to a different clinic from now on.
If I could give this place a negative star rating I completely would. What an absurd place and an embarrassment. When you take your nephew in for an appointment who’s 100 pounds overweight for his height and age and Dr Vanessa does nothing to help the individual. Her solution was let me put you in a support group to talk about your feelings. When you take somebody to get help for weight loss and their solution is, let’s talk about your feelings I was minded and embarrassed, and my heart broke for even taking my nephew there. Dr Vanessa, as well as the rest of the establishment at that particular clinic should be ashamed of themselves.
Came in the office @ 0800 today . Waited in front of the pharmacy window no line. No one acknowledged me . I asked the front counter were they closed they told me no. I proceeded to go to the pharmacy counter and ask could they fill my prescription or are they closed . They told me no I can take your refill request. I stood their 18mins only after I asked them were they closed did they help me. Even after they mistook me for another patient named Marie I stated no I’m not them that individual they still did not ask me did I need help. Only after I proposed my question
Very long wait. We waited in the lobby for 15 minutes after our appointed time (after us, after 5 minutes, 4 more people came and they were called almost immediately after check-in), then we waited for the doctor for 25 minutes and the rest of the time (1.5 hours in total) we waited for honey sister to draw blood. While no one even came up during the waiting time. I saw how many of the patients who came after us and left after 5 minutes (there were 7 patients). And this is only one day of visit. What happened in other days, I am silent. terrible. Chose another one.
If you want a really impersonal care experience, this is the office for you. My primary doctor, Meghan Dwyer, is never available. In 5 months of multiple health issues, I have not spoken to her once. I talk to a different person every time I have a health issue. I always have to follow-up on my lab results because days and sometimes weeks go by without anyone calling me to discuss the results. I had some really concerning symptoms and was told by another doctor (because Meghan wasnt available) that I needed lab work immediately. Lab results get posted the next day and 3 days later no one has called me to discuss the results. So I call and I cant get an appointment to go over my results for 2 weeks, with any of the doctors. They wont transfer me to another clinic because they arent doing that right now. Sounds good! Thank you for making it easier for me to find another office.
Poor service for my child. Nothing was done to help her and they also passed judgment for no reason. Hate this place. We won’t ever be coming back here. Find better for your child the doctor my child seen was horrible! My daughter is still sick and now has an ear infection because of them wanting to clean her ear out while she was sooo sick!! Close this place down! Practice seems unsafe! Just horrible!
Signed up for counseling with Harper Kane and we started video sessions. Multiple times I would be waiting in the room for over 10 minutes before I would find out she wasn’t available. We pre planned visits weeks ahead of time because I’m in real estate and have a adjustable schedule but then again not really a super forgiving schedule. I called to place a complaint about the service I was receiving and no one ever reached back out. I called multiple times to address the issues and was actively ignored. I just think that the care of people is your job as a health care faculty and provider and it feels like this is a disconnected system where patient care isn’t as appreciated and isn’t as much of a passion among the staff and doctors here. You’re just another 30 min block from which they get paid. Seek health care else where if possible. The response is automatically generated. DISCONNECTED system.
Was looking to change to a closer clinc but this place isnt bad. Especially after going today, Kelsey is the BEST! Thanks again for the help and patching me up! Thanks to her partner today as well! The coumadin clinic does a great job. Everyone there does a great job when Im there, Thank you so much!
I love this place! I desperately needed a prescription refilled but could not longer see my regular GP because she was absorbed by Kaiser and no longer covered by my insurance. Everywhere I called had a 3+ month wait list, but CHAS was able to schedule me in one week. Ive been back several times for various reasons and always have a great experience. Theres never a wait, and the staff spends a lot of time with each patient. The staff is friendly, attentive, professional, caring, and thorough. Meghan Dwyer (ARNP) is a gem! Ive received better care at CHAS than any previous medical providers.
Was billed $400 for a test that my medical notes said I specifically declined and after months of calling the billing department and being assured that the clinic would handle this mistake with the laboratory they are now telling me there is nothing they can do and I have to pay the lab. I have been advised by others that this is lab fraud so I am continuing to dispute this but its been extremely stressful as I am close to being sent to collections by the lab (quest).
I love the women who help me in this clinic. All of them. They listen. They follow up. They know what they are doing. Who knew after 40 years of doctors not listening nurses and pharmacists at a community clinic would be the ones who do. And the fact that I don’t have to be afraid of losing them if I lose insurance is a bonus. 12 out of 10.
Great experience! Listened to every concern, were very helpful. No wait time in the lobby at all. The pharmacist and the nurse I worked with showed high level of professionalism and kindness. The front desk lady was friendly and provided full information on every question I had. Thank you!
My husband was initially declined a med as his practitioner did a quick judgment on him. He’s an iron worker with tattoos and she didn’t take to him well. Eventually, she ended up liking him and gave him the med. But it was obvious discrimination in the beginning. Now, I, have a very painful woman issue and have ultrasounds etc lined up. I have endometriosis as well, and I have been prescribed pain killers in the past for this. It’s just come back with avengence, and is not responding to ibuprofen, but that’s all she wants me to take. Just unhappy with the care
This office is amazing. I have had medical issues for 20 years, with a lot of pain as a result. I could not find a doctor who would help until I wound up here. Within WEEKS I was tested and connected with all the specialists I need, and am finally on the road to recovery. The staff here are quick, attentive, and actually listen when told their patients are in pain.
This clinic will treat you like bad because you smoke cannabis. I guess it just depends on the Dr but every time I ever had gone in they gave me a ugly look because I told them I smoke. I say the other person is right go to another Dr office this place with waist your time & money.
Somehow I received a bill without even being seen by this clinic. Just because you saw me once in the past and have my insurance on file does not mean you can just bill. This is basic healthcare law and billing for services not rendered is illegal. I would hope the staff would be trained for this. Very disappointed in CHAS.
I had an intake, then an apointment, got a prescription, missed an appointment, then doc canceled on me about an hour beforehand. Missed one other appointment (rescheduled) went to rescheduled apptmnt. Doc canceled 40 minutes beforehand. Called the same day to change locations, to be told I have been on same day status, No exceptions. They dont care enough. And the call line is always to busy to call. Its just sad.
Got a next-day appointment for our elderly mom thru triage. Received diagnosis and professional, thoughtful care for her condition, Dr. gave us access to many helpful resources, and answered all questions. CHAS provides great healthcare.
I just started with this clinic, and they are very professional and helpful. Unlike the person who claims they laugh and patients, thats not accurate. They treated me very respectfully when I shared my use of cannabis. Incorrect perception of a professional medical establishment.
I come here for my HRT, and I am treated with respect every time I’m in. No judgment for my identity, nor for my tattoos, piercings, or medical marijuana prescription. Always super helpful when I have questions, too!
Delighted with the service from my internist and Katie the medical assistant. Staff was very helpful, knowledgeable, and polite. The clinic was very clean and had modern aesthetics.
Chaz on Regal has a drive up I called They put me on hold and I waited for 15 minutes by the curb eventually I went inside and they acted like I never called. I had to go back to the clinic because of my sciatic running down my leg and my hip I got no relief they gave me a placebo in my hip it did nothing I will never go back to Chas again they are substandard in my opinion.
I am very conflicted on what review I should give this place. One one hand, the staff are very nice and caring and helped me get epipens for much cheaper than anywhere else I had gone. On the other hand, I had someone lie to me about filing and talking to my insurance company that caused a big mess when it came to paying my bill.
The worse place to go Im going to seek medical elsewhere its really sad that I even have to give u any star
They will treat you like a crackhead if you smoke Cannabis! They will literally laugh in your face and outside the door you can hear them talking smack! They will brush you off and not worry about your health. If you smoke Cannabis please dont go here because if your really really sick in a life or death type of illnesse they will blame it on Cannabis and really over look the real problem. If you are worry about your health go to Providence they will treat you like a adult/human! I promise Im speaking first hand!
Dr. O is the best primary doctor. Really cares. Office is nice. Never crowded. Never a wait time. Pharmacys right inside. A+, too everyone there. Thanks.
The doctors are good and work well, but do NOT use their pharmacy! They keep messing up medications and just dont know how to keep medicine stocked. Terrible. Id rather spend an extra $10-$15 bucks to use someplace else.
Dr Meghan Dwyer dismissed my issues immediately and said that she can’t help me. Potential malpractice suit?
Made an appointment for a G.I. referral, for a bleeding ulcer. Five weeks later, still no word from a G.I. doctors office. These folks seem to have no sense of urgency or compassion for people who are suffering.
I thought doing appointment over the phone would be better than in person because i have bad experience for appointments in person so i did an appointment over the phone they called and Wasnt able to answer i called back 2minutes after they transferr me over to another person until another person transfer me to another person till the 6th person i was on hold for more than 40minutes then they transferr me to another person to reschedule my appointment and i waited on the line for another 10minutes until they said i miss my appointment 🤦♀️.
Caring professionals who gave me the treatment I needed. I was not kept waiting. Received results quickly. Clean comfortable office. Friendly staff who were happy to help.
My wife and I love it here. There is never a wait. Staff and Drs are friendly and helpful, and the Pediatrician for our baby is fantastic.
This review is for the Southgate clinic that says they are open 7:30-6 but yet when I just walked up there at 8 they were closed, correct your time so you aint wasting peoples time.
Rush, Rush, Rush. You get 2 minutes, no chance to explain yourself, doc just runs out of the room before you can say anything. Is this a legitimate business? Going elsewhere.
Nice people, very professional. Dont make me as anxious as other offices.
Came in at 0730 (when they opened) to get blood work. It’s currently 0750 and I still haven’t been seen. I’m the only person in the parking lot.
Very long wait times at times. Receptionists who show no enthusiasm for their jobs.
I’m almost 60, worst healthcare of my life
