Check down at the bottom of this review for my description of the Da Vinci surgical robot demo.Had a good experience at the ER. I came in with abdominal pain. They teiaged me promptly and drew blood for tests. Then they put me in a different waiting room. I actually got my test results back in the MyChart app before I got out of the waiting room. When I thought they were ignoring my abdominal pain too long, I pointed out to the staff that I was still having pain. They moved me to a separate room where I was seen by a physician assistant. She got my process going. They ordered a CT scan, and once they saw that I actually had a reason to be in pain, they took me back to the main ER and started my treatment. Then they admitted me to the main hospital. That was yesterday. I was treated, and I am much better today. Its taking longer than Id like to get me discharged, but I know that they have lots of other patients besides me. I recommend GBMC.5/31/23Had another interesting experience at GBMC today. Since Im on their mailing list, they sent out an invitation to a hands-on demo of the Day Vinci surgical robot.Since this was a demo for civilians the robot they showed us was a training model sent over by the company that makes them, not the one they use in the operating room.I thought there would be a huge crowd so I got there early. It turned out that there werent that many people in the audience so I had the opportunity to play with the robot a few times. Its amazing. Its not the kind of robot that you would see in a science fiction movie. It doesnt walk and talk, and it wont decide to take over the world. What it does is let the surgeon sit at a console across the room and operate on the patient with tiny little hands through tiny little holes in the skin. The surgeon can see in three dimensions and can have 10x magnification so every cut and every stitch can be placed with 10x precision. In the past, women, on average, had an advantage over men for performing surgery since women, on average, have smaller hands. This machine levels the playing field since all surgeons get tiny little hands and operate through tiny little holes. The patient benefits because those tiny little holes heal quicker and dont hurt as much while theyre healing.Ive added two pictures, the robot and the control module, to the pictures attached to this review.
I think it is a crying shame that this hospital charges patients and visitors to park. GBMC overall, as a hospital is very good. I have three doctors that I see here. Some will validate, others are told they are “No longer allowed to.” Why are some offices “allowed” while others are not? Do I stop seeing my doctor that I like??? What I will do is check to see if they have their practice in any other location and go there because you are not charged to park at private offices. What is the purpose of charging people to park when they are “captive” with no alternative??? It is extortion in my opinion.
Parking is difficult. I cant locate valet. I cant find handicap spaces. I cant find a shuttle. Every parking space requires a good walk. Not easy on us older folks with arthritis, etc. And because it takes me so long to walk back and forth to car, I end up paying $6 for parking every visit.Otherwise I like the medical staff here.
I needed a copy of my records from an ER experience I encountered on May 17, 2024. I needed a copy of a disk and had the pleasure of talking with Tracy Brown in your records dept. It felt like I was talking to an old friend. Her customer service skills were on point. I had to pick up my records and because I use a cane, I did not know how I could possibly get to the records dept to pick them up. Tracy was sweet enough to meet me at my car. Who does that? I really needed those records and Tracy made it worth my while to make the trip alone to pick them up. You need more like Tracy. She cares about those that she come into contact with. Thank you Tracy, if this is how you treat all your clients you should be recognized for your customer service skills.
This hospital seems severely understaffed. People are in the ER waiting room looking like they wont make it to treatment, young and old. 3+ hour wait times are ridiculous. If your ailment doesnt kill you the anxiety experienced while waiting to be seen by seemingly nobody will. Why is the system down with a waiting room full of sick patients? In the middle of the night? Unreal. Management should be ashamed of themselves.
After reading all the terrible reveiws, I decide to honestly write my own. First the ER, showed up with some scary symptoms. Was evaluated imediatly then put in waiting room to wait to.be taken for a test. We sat a bit waiting for test results and was told I was going to be admitted. Everyone in ER was pleasent and careing. Thebeauutiful room on the 5th floor. Nice large space, private bathroom. Everyone knocks politly before coming in. The nurses, med techs, food delivery people, phlebotomists, everyone was kind and polite. There was explanatuions for everything. I went in with a scary situation and the staff showed concern and compassion. Special shout out to staff in CT scan, cardiolgy, IR, and the staff of the 5th floor. Thanks for all the great care, my few short days there. Would definitly stay there again need be. I was very impressed.Thank youLisa
They dont care if you are comfortable or not. The ICU unit is the worst. ldf you can avoid The food is late or just never arrived. Crystal A Pernasilice is the worst, does not care about your comfort, and rude. The doctors make promises they dont keep. They prefer you lay in a bed In discomfort. lunch still not here again. So l got a tv dinner. 8-8-24 go to another hospital. Expect hundreds of other reviews.
I am giving 2 stars because the ER and ancillary departments were excellent.I came to the ER and was diagnosed with a kidney stone in my ureter which was also kinked, Bacteremia, sepsis. The nurses in the ER could not have been any better. I was sent for multiple tests and then to the OR for a stent placed in my ureter.I was then was admitted to unit 36. It was an awful experience. The room was dirty, have NO idea what the white stuff was under my bed was, which I discovered days later. I cleaned my bathroom floor with wet towels. The shower was gross but I needed to at least try to clean myself. The first intern had to be fired for too many reasons to write about. The one good thing I can say is Dr. Ward seemed to be on top of things, but unfortunately, I only had her for 2 days.I am a RN and former employee there. Maybe the nursing training has changed since I left. The care was non existent except for 2 nurses who actually did their jobs. Jordan and unfortunately I cannot remember the young ladys name who also seemed to know what being a nurse was.My daughter who is the easiest going person I know also was disgusted with the care I received and vowed NEVER to let me go there again for anything. She as well as the physician I work for, were quite disappointed with the lack of medical care I received. I on more than one occasion had to request my own labs, which caused me to be stuck more than I should have. Thanks to the nurse Jordan (who was not my nurse at the time), he was able to save my IV since the nurse I was assigned to, did nothing. This is just one example. I have many.If you are truly sick or have NO advocate to stay with you, stay away from this hospital. They have definitely changed since I worked there. So sad, that the medical profession no longer cares. It used to be HealthCARE. Now who knows what it is, Just a disgrace. Try St. Joes. Wish I had of gone there.
The staff is so nice and make the experience of being at the hospital less horrible. I love the nurses and doctors and everyone there. I had a c section 6 months ago and mentally I don’t think I could’ve handled it without them. I had another surgery today and again, they were so kind and helpful. I will never go to any other hospital. The wait wasn’t too horrible, they were on top of stuff, explained everything in layman terms, checked on me, everything. My nurses Alexa and Brandi were so nice and reassuring when I was anxious about leaving my baby at home. I truly appreciate their kindness and sincerity. ❤️
As every public health institution GBMC can have their bad days however its the physicians that make the experience. NP Megan is one of the best providers at GBMC. I felt the most comfortable under her care. I wouldnt recommend another hospital for great service and thorough care. Continue attracting great talent like Megan!
Avoid this place at all costs. The staff are great. Whoever is running this facility and the board of directors need to resign and return all the money they took out of the place for the last 10 yearsNo signage, no parking, no pedestrian thoroughfaresAgain staff is wonderful and doing way more than they should have to due to the lack of management and leadershipThe facility is a nightmare and i am glad i have no mobility issuesStay away
The wait time to get out of the parking lot was worse than the wait time in the doctors office. I escorted an elderly person to see her doctor. Once I dropped her off in front of the building where her doctors office was located, I went and parked my car. After leaving the doctors office, I went to retrieve my car to pick up my elderly friend who I left in the lobby of the doctors office.. It took approximately 20 minutes to get out of the parking garage. This either has to be improved or stop charging people to park... My friend became very anxious, and she thought I left her in the lobby and went home without her.
Let me tell you the people who work in the EMERGENCY ROOM are the WORST!Especially the Black People who forget they are BLACK!the smell Im the ER ROOM smells INFECTUOUS.I was guided to a bathroom that had blood on the toilet paper, and the bathroom was Discusting.Wonder why COVID EXSISTED! DIRTY HOSPITALS!!!WITH NASTY ATTITUDE PEOPLE WHO ARE DEALING WITH SICK PEOPLE AND THERE FAMILY MEMBERSI SUGGEST A TRAINING IN EMPATHY!
Don’t rely on their social workers to help your family. They are not helping anyone but their paycheck. Dee Flowers my sisters socialWorker was the worst. Discharged my sister on a Friday, the worst possible day and the receiving location did not speak to us at all. GBMC is the WORST!!! The only good employee we had was a nurse named Kiron on the 4th floor.DON’TGOTOGBMC
I visited the GBMC-Infectious Diseases department. This is the second go around with them. Although Dr. Jennifer Townsend was very thorough and personable, the communication and follow up was horrendous. My medications were sent to the incorrect pharmacy and she did not notify me that she had chosen a different pharmacy but to complicate matters, its taken 3 days of back and forth calling and texting to get it straightened out. Meanwhile, Ive been sick for over 7 days and still dont have my medication. Id suggest that a retraining of the office staff would be advisable.
My experience the past weekend was good, all of the nurses were were extremely knowledgeable and helpful to me and my husband while we waited for my admission. The technician in the lab were I had a non-ambulatory stress test her name is Heather she was the best ❤️. My nurse Amina was Great!!
I used to love this place, I birthed my child here and i used to come here for many other issues. Tonight I came in because i literally split my toe in half meat/ nail. I have been sitting in the waiting room for 7 hours already and have now been told i still have 3 people ahead of me. My whole foot is swollen at this point i did not get any pain meds until about 2 hrs ago.. this is absolutely insane.
We had our first child born at GBMC in October 2022. The experience with GBMC from labor & delivery, recovery and NICU was top notch. Staff were friendly, attentive, very professional and facility is clean. Having a baby that needs a NICU stay, we were definitely parents in distress but we’re immediately comforted and reassured by the high level of professionalism, care and friendliness of the doctors, nurses and all other staff. There’s also live piano at the lobby which is nice for relaxation.
This locations service and staff has definitely declined over the years but it is cleaner than many of the surrounding hospitals. Their check in process starts with receiving a booklet that would be efficient if they actually filled it out along the way. They have boards to show where you are on the waiting list but they aren’t really accurate. However, 95% of the staff is always friendly and helpful; which is a relief when you are already coming to a place at your worst.
There is absolutely NO excuse for this or any other emergency room to except walk in patients when the wait time exceeds 2 plus hours. Its the same thing they do for ambulances when they redirecting them to another hospital when there ER department is at capacity. There are people in the ER that have been here 9 plus hours still waiting to se a Dr. Its not the staffs fault I sure its the hospital management which in my opinion thats the president, and or the board of directors decision which I guess is all about the God almighty dollar, NOT the patient.
I have been in a lot of emergency rooms this is something out of the ordinary, from the second I came in I didnt have to wait a second for anything should be done, All the doctors nurses are super nice and helpful!!
Worse ER ever. Checked in at 7pm didn’t get back to a room until 11:58 it’s after 3:30am in the morning and a doctor has yet to come in and see me. Then I inform them I need to use the restroom, so they need to unhook me and they have a nerve to ask for urine after I’ve been sitting in a room for over 3 hours. The level of care is absolutely horrible. The fact I seen my nurse once in 3 hours & I called for her to come and its 30 mins later & she shows up like “yes” There is absolutely no reason I should be sitting in a room for 3 hours when all my blood was drawn while I was waiting my test results came back while in the waiting room I have a pic line in my arm I’m completely ready for a doctor and I have to complain to get seen. They either making us sitting ducks for some money or something really wrong in this place and they need help getting it back together.
This is a terrible hospital. I’ve been there since last week following a hip surgery. They have done nothing to manage my pain or muscle spasms despite being a stroke survivor and dealing with spastic hemiparesis. I take prescribed medication for this and despite that and my pain levels, they refused to even get a neurological consult for my issues stating that it was just “spasms”. It is spastic hemiparesis for which I take Baclofen. They are obviously in the pocket of the pharmaceutical companies when I can request an opioid for pain every 3 hours but can not get prescribed medication that I have been taking for years. They’ve increased it but I had to call the neurology department in the hospital in order for this to happen (they fussed at me for it). I called my own neurologist and asked what to do and he said to have them increase the medication and offered to call them for me. They want me in rehab but I’m in spasm and contracture so bad I can’t move. The pharmacy here can apparently schedule meds whenever they want as opposed to opioids that I can literally get upon request every 3 hours. This is disgusting and so horrible I have no words.
I recently had a life changing surgery and overnight during recovery I had an EXCELLENT nurse (Tasha Sassafras) and tech (Brenda) they really listened to my concerns, making sure I was very comfortable. They truly made this experience so comfortable and less nerve wracking during recovery. I 100% would recommend them for care. These are true medical professionals with tons of empathy. God bless them! Thank you Tasha & Brenda!!Additionally, my surgery was done by Dr. Daya, him & his entire team are heaven sent and paid very close attention to detail, from Dr.Valdez, to the anesthesiologist (she’s a doctor —so sorry I forgot her name), the nurse courtney called me the day before the surgery and was SO kind and answered all my questions. Once I came in the next day for surgery, she stayed by my side essentially the whole time prior to the surgery and really helped me stay in ease. Bethany (who looks like Sandra Bullock hehe ) was also extremely helpful. 10/10 teams I mentioned here!Thank you all so much!!
I must speak honestly about my experience thus far with this business. Ive called twice now to set up an appointment for an Echocardiogram and both times, no one is in the know of whats going on.... No one received the referral... They dont know each departments fax number... They dont know who is affiliated with the hospital. Grant it, their telephone mannerisms were nice but speaking to the staff was equivalent to endless roads that led to dead ends and u-turns. Its as if everyone exchanged their brains for helium. Very bizarre and a cause for concern!! The interactions with the personnel at GBMC this week raised my anxiety and its telling me to abandon ship and look for a new Primary provider. To be honest, I started to get the feeling of distrust when the PCP ordered medication for me and never went over the pros and cons of its usage. I paid $100 for medicine that I did not use because the effects were extremely dangerous. I also was billed for $345 for a monitor that I had to wear for 2 weeks and asked my PCP about it only to be told its fine as nothing was a cause of concern. For that amount I would expect to go over statistics and trends and notations. The integrity of this business is not up to par with my standards. I will be going elsewhere.
I went to this ER after wasting my time at an urgent care that took my money and told me I should have gone to ER. I was quickly triaged and blood/urine samples equally quickly taken. Everybody there was *so freaking nice* and I really felt like they cared about my health. The wait was very long, but youd expect that at an ER. What I didnt expect was how awesome and friendly all the staff were.
GBMC used to be a women’s hospital. When I asked for all women healthcare providers, I was told that that was a possibility. But it’s not and they insisted on making me use a male healthcare provider.
I will continue to come to GBMC ER if I need medical attention in the future. They are efficient, kind, and I believe they care a great deal about what they do there. I have been impressed by their staff on all levels. ER nursing staff on up through Doctor levels took time and extra care with this sick patient. I am grateful.
This has been better far the worst facility I ever went to. My daughter was given an date and time for induced labor on a Sunday at 9pm, my daughter gets here and we was told to wait an hour for a room. We have been setting for 3 hours waiting for a room. We asked the nurse why was we still waiting this long and we were told that any women that comes in here that is in labor goes before my daughter no matter the time she was set up to be induced. Its not fair as patient to be told a set time and then you still waiting. Not to mention the nurse said you suppose to call a hour before your appointment which no one absolutely no one told my daughter this information at all. The nurse keep coming to ask us if we want to go home and wait til they call us back for a room. I asked them are you gonna reimburse my gas for coming here. Like this and then going home and then having to come right back. This is crazy, and we still waiting. Do not come here to delivery your babies you will not be treated right. An the nurse was being smart. My daughter has been checked but waiting for hours just sitting here. I will be reporting to the insurance company of this issue also because they will try to charge you just for waiting.
The worse service in the free world. People that are supposed to help are sitting around munching. Snack time should never be at the desk. Some patient is riding his kid around in a wheel chair as if its a carnival ride. Its absolutely ridiculous. We were there from 6p.m. thru...it is now 2:15a.m. and we still arent being attended to. I would never recommend this place to anyone. Its just horrible.
Ataliya Yocheved Shlomit was born here, we received wonderful care. My birth plan was respected, except for where it conflicted with hospital regulations. I do wish I was able to move around to help manage labor pain like they allowed me at GW hospital in DC with my previous daughter. We did have a hiccup when the pipes burst over our bed, the nurses came immediately, and moved us along with all our things to another room. I was also provided cloth diapers once they knew I was cloth diapering. We visited GMBC from June 6, 2021 I til June 9th, 2021. I was allowed to labor naturally with monitoring. It was a challenge not being able to manage my labor pain like I wanted and them not allowing me to deliver my baby in a position that was comfortable for me. On my back and sitting up is definitely not the best way to labor. For that reason I wouldn’t go back. The main reason I chose to give birth here due to low c-section rate, which for that main reason I am glad I chose to give birth there.
As a health care professional this has been the worst experience ever! My son is only 10 months old with fever and man oh man worst treatment we could receive!! What aggravated me the most was on our way out one of the nurses yelled my sons test results she said mom did you know your son proceeded to say his results out loud!! THATS HIPPA!!
Had us wait for several hours. Kicked me out the hospital in the rain. If you’re black you might as well try to heal yourself or go to Good Samaritan where they want us to go. They couldn’t wait to kick me out. I rather die then go back.
The most hurtful and violating thing happened to me. Someone who works here access my medical record and collected information on me in a clinic I never stepped foot in. When I tried to get the name of the person who did the hospital Seem more worried about protecting this person than me. As a long time patient I really felt so hurt and less trusting of this hospital and all I wanted was the person name so I can press charges. Like this is so neglectful on the hospital. It was my personal information this person collected but they rather protect the intruder. The person should really be behind bars for violating hippa laws.
I was born at this hospital in 1990 and it has been the main location for me and my family’s drs for years. There has been a RAPID decline of the care and sensitivity of the drs and nurses here.I was in the Pediatric ER last night for my daughter who had a badly sprained ankle. When the drs and nurses in the ER interact with patients (especially patients of color) it’s appears their main goal is to brush your symptoms and make you feel like you’re over-reacting for being there instead of actually listening to the patients. This has increasingly been my experience with them for the past 5 years. This hospital is currently putting millions into building new buildings while the medical staff becomes more and more white and less compassionate and inclusive.I would not recommend that any people of color do business with this hospital on any level. The staff , especially in the ER, do not reflect the Baltimore community and that makes this place dangerous. Corporate greed has ruined GBMC.
Im only giving this two stars because everyone was nice and friendly. Came in with leg and ankle swelling. No dvts but urgent care was also concerned that it may have something to do with my heart. They didnt even do a blood workup, echo, or xray of my heart. The doctor that I saw seemed like he was in a hurry and diagnosed me with leg swelling and told me to follow-up with my pcp. I will not be going back to this hospital.
I went to GBMC by ambulance for abdominal pain. Dr. Dov Frankel misdiagnosed me and discharged me, still suffering and in pain. He said he couldnt admit me because he didnt have access to the equipment needed to diagnose me and I needed a diagnosis to be admitted. What nonsense is that? I went to another doctor and found out I have a serious medical condition that Dov Frankel didnt even discuss with me or test me for. Avoid this hospital!
Dr was great facility is a hot mess! I’ve seen inner city hospitals more organized than this place! Waiting 1/2 hour to get out of a parking garage and you charge me!! I will actively look for doctors NOT at this hospital!
This is the worst hospital in Baltimore County. The lack of care behavioral health patients recieve is absymsal and the staff there should be investigated.I requested the contact information for patient Advocacy only for the nurse on duty, Caroline to provide the incorrect number.A treatment plan was set with the client and psychiatrist on duty ( I can not recall her name however she is a short East Indian woman that has only been there two weeks) that included ridding the client of her sitter (who was the ONLY conpassionate person) only for her to make no notes for the upcoming staff.I will be filing a complaint with the Maryland Department of Health along with emailing the executive leadership team.Deplorable.
Not a bad hospital but their not good either don’t have much knowledge of dealing with sickle cell patients. They will definitely try to admit you, if you choose not to be they will stop giving you care and discharge you instantly and as I was coming in they discharged this older lady and it was pour down raining not a care in the world they was worried about changing shifts to leave.
This hospital left my daughter with permanent bladder damage. After a very painful surgery, my daughter couldnt get out of bed, or even move, and the doctor and nurses refused to place a catheter. She was forced to hold her urine for 8.5 hours, which resulted in a permanent, painful urinary retention condition. Once they finally did place a catheter, they had to do a bladder scan every 6 hours. This is absolutely the WORST hospital we have ever dealt with. There was gross mistreatment occurring every day. The doctors and nurses do not care about the patients.
Gavr birth to my son here and was discharged after being monitored for HBP, with no precautionary medication, only to end up in the ER days later with severe eclampsia. Couldve had a stroke. 2 stars for one nurse and tech who were great during my time there. The rest, terrible.
Dr. Hammer came in for her shift well after I was admitted for an induced labor. She was very friendly, informative and a great communicator. I love that Dr. Hammer is able to keep eye contact as she speaks to you, it made her so easy to trust! She is really calm and changed my pressured & panicky mood during my final moments of labor and delivery. During my stay in the Mother & Baby wing two of my most memorable nurses were Nurse Cynthia & Nurse Stephanie. Nurse Cynthia was caring, thoughtful, and personable just as much as she was knowledgeable and informative. Nurse Cynthia was very informative and had great communication skills as well.
Spent 4 hours in the ER, waiting on an X-ray, until the everyone in the entire waiting room had been seen. When asked, staff admitted that I had been forgotten during the shift change. Immediately after, someone who had just arrived was taken back for an X-ray.If you have a choice, choose any other nearby hospital (Union Memorial, University of Maryland, etc.) but this nightmare.
Took my daughter to the ER for abdominal pain and the PA she saw was great however, Skylar the LPN at the desk was rude. I had a question after my daughter saw the PA as to the necessity of a CT scan and thought maybe an x-ray or abdominal ultrasound could be used as diagnostic tools in place of CT scan. She wanted to answer my question rather than getting PA. An LPN has limited nursing knowledge so I didn’t want to hear it from her. She said she would ask PA to come speak to me and 2 hours later I’m still waiting. I reached out to several medical professionals that I know and got my answers.
I was in the hospital back in end of august till mid September and has Dr. Raisenghani had consulted with me on my situation and she was completely unprofessional toward me and didn’t even try to understand me and disrespected my wishes wanting not to speak with her again during my stay. I am traumatized because of the situation she and the social worker put me in. They didn’t even try to understand what I was going through. Therefore I have immense anger toward Dr. Raisenghani for utter disrespect and unprofessionalism towards me.However, I would like to give a shout out to my nurses in the psychiatric unit especially Brooke, who really understood me and really was the best.
Went in for chest pains and leg pain. I just now walked out, never been to a hospital where the nurses have such bad attitudes that you just want to leave and take your chances. There was no warmth or compassion in them at all. Just aggravation and short tempers, coldness that made me super uncomfortable
I had nothing but a positive experience with all of the staff that I met during my visit on 6/11/22. Main Lobby staff was A1, as well as all of the Support Staff that help me navigate through the halls. The Nursing Staff were very professional and the 7p-7a shift were amazing; they were so accommodating, kind and diligent in their duties. Unbeknownst to the staff, I too am a RN who was working in another role (sitter) on that evening from an outside Agency. A very special thanks to Nurse Ann and Nurse Jenifer! From: Nurse Angie!
Sonographer ob clinic - ZEE extremely unprofessional attitude from start was horrible did not take to common questions that we’ve asked every visit 20 week scan she didn’t try to get decent pics of baby didn’t try other positions or anything just stopped 15min into a 1hr scan never experienced this before getting a sonogram which most parents look forward to during visits very disappointed
On November 24 at 5:20 I went to ER to GBMC with a child of 8 years old, I had to take my daughter with me because I am a single mother. I left spontaneously after two hours, they did only a blood work and eventhood I was expressing that I was not feeling well, I did not see any doctor nor a nurse.Respect and passion are part of this job, they did not even consider the fact that I was there so early with a sleepy poor child .
Update: 4/2023Discharges your loved one with a serious diagnosis without notification (especially after verbalizing the request to a provider for notification), not making sure the patient has a safe ride home with family (especially after given narcotics for pain), not making sure they can get their prescriptions before the pharmacy closes, incomplete assessment of pain and failure to report and treat pain upon time of discharge, discharging patient with unacceptable pain level score (including new pain that was ignored), staff passing the buck with a nonchalant lack of genuine concern after the fact, staff (including supervisor/charge) indirectly blaming patient for taking narcotic when nurse dropped it in the trash by making the patient feel like they are drug seeking when they are not, slamming doors and talking loud or being obnoxious at night so you can’t even sleep, lack of privacy using the bathroom. What is wrong with this place?!!!!Besides lack of communication and an extremely poor effort of involving the family in the process, once you drop your family member off here you don’t really know what is going to happen. Now my family member has to go to an urgent care, the day after discharge, to get his ankle looked at (he can barely walk) and for unresolved pain that should’ve been assessed by nursing and addressed by the provider. Maybe this is done to encourage frequent admissions for profit🤬🤯👎👎.We don’t do ANY of this where I work!!! We ALWAYS include family and follow through with any patient or family requests. I’ve seen providers chew out residents for ignoring complaints. At this place: completely shameful and pathetic medical care. Avoid this place.Older review from 2/3 out of 5 stars-They saved my mother’s life for a condition another hospital later did not catch.Their hospice doctor we dealt with wasn’t very responsive and one sided and somewhat cold.I also do not agree on their intubation practices on conscience people (when they wake up). When I demanded to speak to the attending of the ICU the nurse just pushed me aside as well as the acting nurse manager covering. Two anesthesiologists at a reknown hospital in the city both told me prolonged intubation can cause long term trauma and she should’ve been extubated if she was awake! That’s called torture.
First time ever being at this hospital. I thought i was having a heart attack. Within 10 minutes of arriving i was being hooked up to an EKG followed by getting my blood drawn. Approximately 5 minutes after that was finished i was put in a room. The doctor came in to see me shortly after. Sent me for a CT scan. I was in and out of the hospital within about 3 hours. Everyone that worked there treated me fantastic! Very friendly and accommodating staff. I was scared for my life and every single person from the EKG tech to the people doing my CT scan were very comforting and polite. The only issue i had was that my husband and two children could not come back to my room with me. We were told No more than 2 people visiting in a room which kind of broke me a little because i had no one to take my kids so my husband could be with me. I was terrified and wanted comfort from my kids and husband. I understand policies and rules, but it was only making me feel worse and more scared for my life being alone with my thought while i waited for all my blood work and test results to come back. Aside from that i am very pleased with how i was treated and how pleasant and comforting everyone was to me. Thanks GBMC!❤
E.r was very crowded but staff was friendly and helpful. the nurses ge ge and Georgia on unit 46 were amazing, best I have ever had in any hospital stay or medical need. jen is doplar scan area was also very friendly and engaging and put me at ease while they checked my legs for blood clots.
The time u spend waiting in the ER is terrible, but the doctors and technicians are very good. Number of beds seem to be lacking.
DR.MIRZA BAIG‼️ is the worse doctor I’ve had to deal with. He was rude, very impatient, not sympathetic at all and disregarded the fact I was alone. I had an abscess in my mouth which he drained. he also didn’t gave me any pain medication. Because I was alone I was on the phone with my boyfriend and Dr. Baig took my phone and hung up the call. Thank you nurse Jessica, she was amazing and i would vouch for her a million times.
Our children were born here, and we were more than satisfied with the experience. Our doctors and nurses were so kind and warm, and our rooms were comfortable. They also offer an excellent class to expecting parents. I cant really speak to any branch of the hospital outside of maternity, but I felt that we were in good hands.
Cut my arm needed stitches waited 3hours 40 minutes still not scene. Hospital staff very rude and seem as if they could care less. When ask about time they longest wait time was 6 hours. Went elsewhere stitches in and out door in 40 minutes. I always regarded GBMC as good hospital but I’ll never go back. The staff was the worst I have ever encountered with. I know it was a small cut but it was swollen and concerning to me Wow very disappointed. Bill Streett
This place is the worst! The longest waits for no reason! It took two hours to be seen. The waiting room is extremely uncomfortable! For the love of God, if you are ill, do not come here it will only make it worse.
Had some issues with some floaters on/in my eye. Explained my situation during triage. About 2-3hrs later I was seen by a doctor to address my concerns. Unfortunately, I needed an ophthalmologist and was greeted by an optometrist who couldnt assist me. Wasted night 😔
I went for a regular doctors appt and was checked into the hospital. My blood pressure was high once I hit my third trimester and blood wasnt going through the umbilical cord to get to the baby so they needed to monitor both of us. The nurses were extremely attentive and very nice. One of them comforted me when I broke down because I wanted to go home. I was suppose to stay for 4 weeks and then they were going to induce my labor, but on the 4th day my blood pressure was dangerously high and the babys heartbeat had dropped very low so they got me prepped for a C Section. They were so sweet to me. They kept me calm until my husband got there. They were holding my hands, and rubbing my shoulders. They even wiped my tears and my nose lol. After the procedure they were so attentive and made sure I took my pain medicine and that I was comfortable. Even the people who brought my food up to me were nice. They always cleaned my table off, pulled it close to me, and asked was I comfortable. It felt weird asking the nurse for help with my underwear and pad when my husband or mom wasnt there, but they didnt seem to mind helping me. The nurses in the Nicu also took GREAT care of my son who was born at 31 weeks. Overall the care from every single employee there made my stay comfortable and enjoyable. When it was time for me to go home I didnt want to leave my baby, but I trusted the Nicu employees Hes home now and doing fantastic. I will forever love GBMC and I will be there again with my second child, hopefully under happier circumstances.
The only reason I gave it a 4 star review was because the person who started my IV, took about 4 tries before she could get it right, which resulted in a lot of bruising and 2 small scars. Other than that, my experience was wonderful considering the circumstances of my visit. The doctors, anesthesiologist and nurses were so compassionate and knowledgeable. Even the genetic testing center continues to be very attentive and understanding months after my surgery.
I have been to a few emergency rooms and this one is my go too when needed. I went a few weeks after the Christmas surge when everything kinda calmed down with COVID and hardly anyone was there. I was in and out within 2.5 -3 hours. Dr.Dov was great and had awesome bedside manners. The male nurse was really nice too and personable as well. 2 days later i went back and i also had Sarah who was a PA. She seems concerned and did everything possible to help me. Unfortunately i needed to see a specialist and had to get emergency surgery that week but the ER at GBMC did everything they could. They seemed well organized and tried their best to figure out what was wrong with me without me being there for hours while Bayview and Franklin square is always a 6+ hour wait on a slow day. Def recommend.
I would not recommend even trying to contact this organization. I tried contacting them see about getting my mother admitted to their inpatient rehabilitation center, and was subjected to about 30 minutes of the most frustrating experience I could have ever imagined.First, the hospital operator connected me to the wrong department TWICE. The second time, the department I was forwarded to ended up disconnecting me. They did give me a number to call, however, in case anything went wrong. It was a FAX machine; so, no dice there. Then, I looked on the web site for the rehabilitation center phone number. When I called that, I kept getting disconnected. After several tries at that, I gave up.Even after calling the main hospital number to make a complaint, the operator forwarded me to yet another number. It was voice mail telling me Id reached the wrong department, and that Id have to call the main hospital number to make a complaint. Really? Thats what I just did, and now its forwarding me back to the main hospital number? WOW!! Its impossible to even submit a complaint!! This has to be the worst-managed facility I have ever seen... and Ive seen some pretty bad ones.I honestly dont know how anyone could make their way to the correct department, given everything I experienced. With this level of utter incompetence, just within the phone system, I am no longer even considering entrusting this organization with the care of my dear mother.
Good luck navigating this mess. The audacity to charge for parking!
My life ended at this ER, and my family lost everything. No, this is not fiction or a bad dream, although I wish it were. I had excruciatingly painful, life-threatening, gangrenous, ruptured appendicitis with peritonitis--along with all the obvious symptoms--but was secretly diagnosed with an anxiety disorder by an arrogant, condescending, incompetent, greedy ER doctor. (Yes, that old chestnut: if youre a woman, especially one who has just had a baby, it must all be in your head! Your pain cannot possibly be higher than a 10. Also, the ER doctor does not actually work for this hospital; hes just an independent contractor who can and will have his way with you!) I tried to get a second opinion and to transfer myself to another hospital, but the doctor refused my requests. I was too weak and in far too much pain to walk out. Pain medication, life-saving antibiotics and fluids were withheld because the dismissive, condescending nurses could not insert an IV line, rupturing the veins in both my arms. One nurse dismissively wrote in my records that I had been confused when I told her I was starving to death. Already too thin from vomiting black, foul-smelling liquid, I lost 10 more pounds in just two days at GBMC because the doctor needlessly had me NPO. Yet my abdomen blew up to a size larger than when I had been nine-months pregnant. By the time I contacted a patient advocate at ANOTHER hospital and obtained permission to transfer there, I had horrible abscesses the size of footballs and black and blue arms, conditions which the ambulance medic recorded but GBMC just didnt care to notice. I developed numerous, excruciatingly painful infectious complications (including a complete colon blockage and twisting of the mesentary from having no internal body fat) and required three additional, horribly painful emergency abdominal surgeries within two months. Due to the ruptured veins in my arms, the nurses had to use both my hands for the numerous IV lines. And I spent time in the ICU where I underwent excruciatingly painful NG treatments. After I was discharged, I was disfigured, disabled and in pain. I could not care for myself or my infant daughter. I could not work. I was no longer able to carry a pregnancy. My husband lost his job for spending too much time caring for us. I later required extensive reconstructive abdominal surgery to close a 12×5 hole in my abdomen, reconnect my detached abdominal muscles and detach my colon from where it was attached to my skin. I now have no belly button and am essentially not human anymore. If you value your life and family, stay away from this ER at all costs. And please remember that you do have rights, including the right to leave.
Jacqueline D Knox needs to be let go .. at what point should you not do the one job you have ?? She decided not to inform the parents of a three year old child that his surgery had been delayed for more than four hours.. this child had to suffer thirst ,hunger, and reapplication of burning eye drops being put in multiple times because of her lack of coordination with doctors, nurses and patients parents .. when confronted her attitude was worse than expected. She tried to deny the situation even happened . Please get people like this outta here .. her negligence and disrespectful towards patients n doctors will carry serious implications and possible complications. Her actions have all ready been reported to the state medical board..
This really pains me. Ive preferentially selected GMBC ER over all others in Baltimore since 2000 because they used to be much more expedient. Waiting times were reasonable, even when busy. I cant even say Covid is the cause of this because they started getting about as bad as the other ERs before Covid struck. Ive been here going on 9 hours and have YET to see even a PA. Its bad.
Awful experience and with only one exception, a lack of bedside manner throughout. We were really just a number and placed in a small room by construction that never seemed to end.
We came to gbmc for my son and they were very fast getting us a room in the pediatric emergency department and we have had the best care from all nurses and doctors, and very thorough evaluation I feel very comfortable and well taken care of here 😊
I gave birth to my first baby here.and it has been terrible. On 2020, I could not get prenatal care bc of covid and everything was shut down, and the nurse was being super sarcastic and tried to guilt trip me for being not able to get my last month prenatal care.I got an epidural and IT DID NOT WORK.I was in so much pain and could not even talk and it was very hard for me. and anetheologist was being sarcastic and said to my husband “ she can’t speak english?” for second epidural just bc she had attitude. they have no heart.she has heard me speak english for my FIRST epidural when the pain was not so bad. I am asian and im assuming she was just trying to be racist.
Terrible experience. I got there at 10 am and did not leave til 9 at night. Dr. Dave is incredibly rude and lacked compassion. I heard him tell the staff to “remind everyone that there is a shortage of doctors”. I understand that it is currently a struggle in the medical field right now but do not make your patients feel bad for seeking care. He took forever to see me and when he did he said about 5 words to me. My oxygen level kept on dropping and my heart rate was extremely high and yet he still discharged me. I have pylenephritis and they told me to go back if I was experiencing new symptoms such as not being able to breathe, which I was, yet they did nothing for me. They asked if I wanted pain meds even though I was already on a bunch of pain meds such as a narcotic that gave me no pain relief at all. When I asked him why do I still have so much pain and it seems to be getting worse even though I am on these antibiotics he said “I don’t have a good answer” he did not know what he was talking about. Overall, a terrible experience.
This hospital kill my brothers first son. My brothers wife went there when they first found out that she was pregnant. She has a weak cervix and the hospital knew about it but did not take proper care and she end up giving birth at 6months. While they where in the hospital my brother requested for the baby to be put into the incubator minutes after birth but the hospital refuse because they did not see the need and my brother son pass away on his wife hands while the nurse was checking him minutes after he requested incubator. 😭😭😭😭😭😭 please do not take your pregnant wife to this hospital. This was his first son he has been praying for and was taking away by this hospital. I wish I can give zero stars because they do not deserve one star. Our mom and his wife cant stop crying. Our family is hurting 💔
Terrible place to work. Was abused verbally and physically by nursing staff specifically in the pediatric ed. the nurse ANNA, and older middle aged nurse took me in private and bruised my arm she grabbed it so tight. Kristen the manager did nothing to resolve it or protect me staff or children from her. Becky a nurse in pediatric ed also made verbally abusive commentary to me. My self esteem is damaged from working here.
Visited the ER this evening for my 6 month old son who was having cold/flu symptoms with projectile throw up. Triage wait wasn’t long but waited for over 5 hours for a SMALL CHILD to be seen. He got so restless, angry, and wouldn’t sleep so we decided to leave. Came in a little before 9:30 and left at 2:30am all for nothing. They told us at the desk that he was next, but it may take several hours for him to be called because of how crowded and severe things were with other patients. No way in the world an infant should have to wait that long for treatment. Should have went with my gut and taken him to Hopkins but opted out because of distance. Never again. Nurse also refused to give me a work note since we were not seen by a doctor. At that point we walked out the door. Better off waiting until the morning to call the pediatrician.
Pediatric unit time is horrible. One doctor for 12 plus patients. 2 hours for Covid results and that’s only one test. Been here over 4 hours some people have been here for 7+ hours , disgrace. But great job on taking the homeless and druggies first real contributors to society
The emergency room is disorganized. I took my sick mother to the ER on a Friday evening in June, and there were over a hundred patients in the ER. It took over hours to be seen, and an X-ray was taken. We waited for hours for the x-ray results and we had to leave without the results since my mother was too sick to stay longer. There is no vetting or priority given for ill patients versus patients coming in for less critical issues. Very disappointing.
Here at the ER now all I can say is Wow! This place has gone down hill from what it was years ago. The Nurses are the worst, they give you an attitude when you ask about your status… you are stuck in a waiting room for hours they run test and give you no updates. As a matter of fact they don’t even give you a room. Shocked I don’t think I would come back to this ER after today.
In December 2019 I met the kindest gbmc jewish doctor- real professional!!! I had been to another hospital for a serious fever, sore throat etc., but was still sick but Gbmc took care of me like a queen!!! My second experience is with my primary care physician!! The lowest of the low healthcare provider!!! Gbmc is the best hospital in Baltimore and I want everyone to know it. I thank all the nurses and doctors I was privileged to meet also!!! Keep up the good work!!!
I had my first child here. I am pregnant with my second and made sure to find a doctor with a different hospital. I was lucky to be blessed with a healthy baby and no complications during delivery. However, my experience with GMBC was less than impressive. A nurse came in every few hours during my stay after delivery to remind me to take my pain medication and to use the various antiseptic sprays, etc. and to ask when is the last time I took the medicine and used the spray. Every time, I would inform the nurse I have not yet been given any medication or spray, the nurse would say she would check into it, yet I left the hospital 2 days later still never having been given any pain medication or antiseptic. I could not even sit up in bed enough to lift my son in and out of the cradle because it was too hard to move. I also had problems breast feeding. My son would not latch on properly. A lactation consultant came in for literally about a minute and a half, shoved him onto my breast and walked out. He unlatched in less than a minute and she never came back even though I asked many times for assistance.
Was admitted for a kidney infection , staff in emergency room was excellent . Got admitted on the 4th floor , and the attending doctor was really nice , then when I got seen by urologist the results from my blood work and urine showed infection , but I was told I had stones in my left kidney and right kidney by the attending and then urology told me there was no stones in my left only right , I don’t like when stories get changed been dealing with this since I was 15 , I just wanted honesty and trust from my team caring for me .
This is the worst blood draw I have ever experienced. The two nurses first examined my sons arms and finally determined one of them to draw blood. They inserted the entire needle into his arm and found no blood coming out. They took turns to move the needle in my sons arm and still couldnt find the blood vessels. My son cried very badly! At last, another nurse was very easy to find the blood vessels and complete the blood draw.I know that nurses also need to practice, but dont take children to practice! My son is only two years old! Listening to his painful crying, I tried my best to hold back and didnt conflict with the nurses!
Always had a good experience at GBMC for my previous stays. This time was different. Started at the Womens & Outpatient Surgical Center. Was scheduled for surgery at 10am. Didnt go back to 1pm. Asked the nurses what was going on and they said the 1pm patient (3rd on the schedule) showed up at 6am so they took her first, the 8am scheduled patient (Planned 1st patient) showed up late but they waited for her. So I sat waiting with not one person telling me, I had to ask. They could have called me before I showed up and let me stay home until my new scheduled time. Then after my surgery, they forgot about me in the recovery room. I was supposed to be transported to a regular room at 430pm and sat there until 7pm. The surgical center closed at 5pm. The 2 nurses that had to wait for me to get a room were frustrated because they wanted to go home and sat and whispered (or so they thought) about me. They took my cell phone from me and said I had it long enough and handed it to my husband and then asked my mother and husband leave and go wait in my room that I would eventually be transported to. I was in the middle of watching my daughters live streamed performance as she took the phone. She didnt want to be held responsible for the phone during transport. She didnt even transport me and someone would have had to snatch the phone out of my hand. Had my surgery not been delayed 3 hours and then forgotten for 2.5 hours I wouldnt have missed the live stream but since they had made these mistakes you would think they would provide some accommodations but none were. Then I get to my regular room...treatment no better. Everytime I pushed the nurse button I felt like I was a bother to the stuff. The nurse that came in to take my blood mumbled every time I asked a question or just flat out ignored me. No hi or bye as she entered or exited the room. Terrible experience, guess Ill try St. Joseph or Johns Hopkins next time.
No one wants to be in the ER or hospital, but GBMC made it easier. From the wonderful nurses in the ER who made me laugh eased my nerves, to the caretakers that watched over me after I was admitted, I felt like everyone I interacted with was genuine. I actually missed some of the staff after I left! Not quite enough to go back but.... :) Everything was faster than expected as well! They definitely made me feel like I was priority #1 even though I knew they were busy, busy, busy!I guess the only reason Id deduct a star is because, like I assume most hospitals, the food sucked and the beds werent super comfortable.... though neither of those were to be expected.
I go the emergency for help because Im afraid that my severe facial bruising might have to do with some sort of blood disorder. I wait for 3 hours talk to 1 person and Im just left in the waiting room. The waiting room is largely dead and most of the staff is just standing around doing nothing. I go up and ask how much longer it will take and Im told they have no idea but there are people that have been waiting for 6 hours. So I say Im going to leave and do so and then get harassed by the security they have on the way out. Truly one of the worst experiences Ive ever had. If you have a choice do not go here.
I had been seeing Dr. Slack at GBMC who is a lung specialist. My first appointment with him was great and he was very nice. I had an appointment last Friday at 10am. Granted I got there 10 minutes late but I was taken back in. Got my blood pressure, weight, etc taken. I had also given a copay to go in. After 25 minutes I was told that since I was “10 minutes late” that the doctor is no longer available and can’t see me anymore. I’m shocked at the lack of professionalism and miscommunication. I had to wait an additional 20 minutes for them to refund me for the copay as well. It’s frustating to make the commute there from Annapolis and be treated as if I’m not valuable at all.
Over the years policy, procedures and regulations have become relaxed within healthcare. My visit to GBMC emergency became uncomfortable quickly. Check-in was quick however my privacy rights were non-existent.My personal information was broadcast as staff spoke loud enough for everyone to hear my personal information, my reason for my visit in addition to PHI (name, address, phone number, etc.).When giving billing information your asked to sign this little black box. I asked for proof of what I was signing and the young lady could not provide. The only person that introduced themselves were the young men transporting you to get your x-ray or CAT scan. One of my symptoms was dizziness and I was walked (no wheelchair) to the room for x-ray.Upon getting CAT scan, I had accessories in my locs that need to be removed. The older caucasian woman stood over me flicking my locs making sure to touch each one (even the ones without accessories). Never asked if she could touch my hair. She was not even the person to do the scan. The African gentleman that did the scan wore gloves and asked if I needed help removing them. The PA (I read the badge, no intro was given) discussed everyones issues and care aside their chair in the waiting room. No privacy and sometimes the patient near by would chime in to discuss the reason for your visit.I never was given privacy and checked out from the hallway after the male nurse took vitals. My elevated BP was never discussed until I asked. And I was sent on my way with left arm in excruciating pain because the BP cuff was too tight, tightened all thee times of getting a reading. One of the fastest and mist uncomfortable visits ever.
This has been the worst experience ever. I was in the ER on 11/1/2017 at 1:43 AM got a room right away, but it took almost 5.5 Hours to see a DR in my room.. then around 7:30 AM the DR said Im getting Discharge but never seen my paper and its 9:40 AM and counting. I understand they have critical patients but someone need to communicate with other patient instead letting others waiting in the room and pressing the button doesnt help. You would think other nurses will help other patients if your nurse is busy.Need to complain to someone but who.
I was misgendered constantly from receptionists, pre-op staff, and nurses during recovery. I only had one nurse who gendered me correctly. I woke up from surgery in extreme pain and it was a long time before it was brought under control. I warned them that despite my size my body fights medication because of the anxiety I experience and I don’t feel like they listened to me. I was roughly re-catheterized while awake without the use of numbing medication before hand which was also extremely painful. My surgical team and my surgeon spent maybe five minutes with me after surgery at most after surgery going over my results.I would not recommend this hospital to anyone.
Do Not Attend This ER . I came to the ER for heart complications and sat in the waiting room for a little under 9 hours. I continuously advised the nurse things werent improving and I was waved away stating the longest person waiting for care was 9 hours in. The technician who checked everyones temperature did not use a forehead thermometer, when asked why(due to the possible spread of covid 19) I was advised the forehead thermometer is often stolen. The tech was not thorough in sanitizing the thermometer between each person. When having my blood pressure monitored the tech advised I did not need to remove my thick jacket, in which I added it might give a false reading. After finally being admitted to a room enough bloodwork was taken to fuel the American Red Cross for a month with no conclusion at the end in which I was sent home. If theres an actual emergency please avoid this ER. I believe when employees perform a service and see the same result daily they become desensitized and dont treat each case as a new case, its treated as an annoyance. Unfortunately I never received a follow-up call regarding my experience which is why I decided to leave a review; a warning of sorts.
First and last time experience. Very dark. There was no security or staff at the emergency entrance. I had a very hard time finding labor and delivery. Services are poor and after hearing great things about this hospital I’m very upset with MyChart outcome. I was at registration for at least 20+ minutes before the nurse was notified. I’ve mentioned several times that I am high risk yet they still haven’t checked on my baby. Poor services GBMC!
I am pregnant and had complications from high blood pressure so had to be admitted to L&D. My first day was met with caring nurses, who truly show their strong work ethic. However, the second day Taylor Conway who works in Labor and Delivery was unacceptable. I need not to go into too much detail. I will say my blood pressure shot up and at this point I am calling a lawyer. She put my life and the life of my unborn child at risk.
On 8/4/2022 the care I received at GBMC was inappropriate. The ER doctor (Matz) displayed that she was annoyed by KP referring a patient to them to avoid exposure to Covid in their facility. When asked to explain further why I was sent, I told her that the KP doctor was unresponsive to my symptoms until suicidal ideation was in the message. She then accused me of saying those things to get attention. When it was time for discharge, she sent in her team to intimidate me, threatening to confiscate my personal items, falsely implying that I had to be retained. If it were legitimate to retain me, I would not have been able to walk out. Upon my exit forced to rip out my own IV, because I had to escape, causing a bloody scene, and most of all trauma. No one should be made to feel like they have to escape a hospital when they come in for care. This tactic was malicious and inappropriate. The incident triggered PTSD for me, from something that occurred in my youth.
I was here over the weekend and everyone from the guard at entrance to ER to the guys who wheeled me about were absolutely polite and welcoming and helpful. The nurses and nursing assistants, the lady who cleaned my room, the people who cooked and brought my food, the doctors, the lab techs, the office personnel... Everyone helped me be more at ease.Very thorough too. I will go back to this hospital from here on. Its excellant.
I was raped by the parking garage after it took 30 minutes to exit.
Stayed here in Kaiser/Acce for 15 days when I was ill. The nursing staff is hit and miss. The older nurses are great, but the younger ones are easily overwhelmed and it shows. I often found myself calling for help 1hr prior to needing it because I knew how long it would take. Food was good, but I prefer not to interact with the younger nurses they take the job to personal, its a hospital people are usual here because they are sick and at their worse.
The hospital is large but easy to navigate. The staff is awesome and the wait for care is not long if you have an appointment. I had three procedures there and the nurses were beyond patient and kind....I am an awful patient coming out of anesthesia. GBMC also give seminars on various health topics. These spring and fall classes are available to the public. I highly recommend this hospital for your family health care.
I went to the ER 2 days post-op for trouble breathing on instructions from my surgeons office, who was concerned about a blood clot or a serious reaction to the pain medication. When I got there, I didnt feel like the reception staff really listened to what I had to say. When the nurse took me to the room to take my vitals, I looked down next to me and there was a piece of gauze with someone elses blood sitting in my chair. It was SO gross!!Being 2 days post-op, I was in a lot of pain in the waiting room so I asked for something to help and the nurse told me I could take the medication I brought with me. I explained to her that I felt like my breathing troubles were a reaction to the pain medication and asked for something else to take the edge off. She came back a while later with the SAME medication I already had, but thankfully my sister was there and paying attention and realized it. We asked for something else and she said thats all she could give me. I had to pretty much beg her for some Tylenol to take the edge off. When I finally did get called back, the Dr was rude and wouldnt listen to what I was saying. They did tests and ruled out a blood clot, but couldnt give me a reason why I was having trouble breathing. He said it was impossible for the pain medication to cause that kind of reaction, and I must just have anxiety issues or something. Which I dont, and it wasnt that kind of an issue at all.By this time, the pain medication I took prior to going was out of my system and I was feeling a lot better so I just went home and called my surgeons office and they gave me a new prescription. I also googled the old medication and spoke with my surgeon at my follow-up appt a few days later, and come to find out its a well-known serious side effect and I literally could have died if I kept taking it and couldnt wake myself up to breathe. The nurses were really nice and caring, but I refuse to tolerate incompetent doctors. If given a choice, I will not ever be returning to this ER again.
While I have no complaints whatsoever about the care received at the wound care center, it’s the other patients that are ignorant. Not only do they refuse to wear the mask properly but using the telephone on speaker so the whole waiting room has to hear the entire conversation. I’m not shy so I have stated that “the mask goes over your mouth and nose!” Nothing changes. Please people, if wearing a mask is too difficult for you, STAY HOME!
My past experiences were good. But today just wasn’t great at all. I’ve waited so far for 3.5 hours for my son to be seen. When I asked about the waitlist, I was informed that I could potentially wait another 3 hours before being seen. I understand that it is flu season but this is ridiculous. I am watching adults come and go while the children are crying, uncomfortable and sick wait for drastic hours. I am beyond upset with GBMC today. This is ridiculous and not good health care practice.
Worst experience i could imagine! :(I went there at 2 am after having contractions at home. When I arrived to the hospital my contractions were 3/4 minuets apart. After the nurse tried to put the IV into my hand and couldn’t push it all the way in my vein so she proceeded to stick the IV into my wrist. extremely uncomfortable by the way. I asked for some pain medicine in my IV and was told no. I was told I had to have an hour of fluids before I could get my epidural. By that hour my contractions were 2/3 minuets apart. When the Epidural was given to me it did help for maybe 20 minuets and started to wear off!!! I’ve had a baby before I’m not naive I understand the pain that comes with child birth. However if I knew I would be giving a “natural” birth I wouldn’t have risked getting the Epidural in the first place. The anesthesiologist‘s only solution to my problem was taking the needle out and re-doing my epidural. One time risking sticking a needle in my spine is enough for me! I declined and was going to just continue pushing since my contractions were 1/2 minuets apart. After the ob on call came in, she was no help, didn’t help walk me through pushing or anything. The nurses were way more informed and helpful during my whole experience. One of the my nurses was Julia, she was awesome! Very patient! After 3 hours of pushing some lady walked in my room with the ob I’ve been dealing with. She proceeded to tell me that my baby’s head was tilted up so I wouldn’t be able to push him out, and my only option was to have a c-section. I was extremely against a c-section unless my baby or I were in danger, which we weren’t everything was normal with both of us. I asked the lady (I still don’t know who she was) if I could continue to push, she replied with for how long? What kind of a dumb question was that! As long as it takes to deliver my baby! She told me I could do whatever I wanted to do but it wouldn’t work I would just end up having the c-section later rather than just doing it now. I was petrified and was in so much pain already, my worst fear of a c-section!!!!! I even begged them if there was anything else I could try or do. Everyone I talked to about this hospital said they had to have a c-section. People just like me that had vaginal births before came to GMBC and were told their only option was a c-section! Even funnier thing is that some of the women I talked to had the doctors tell them the same thing about the baby’s head being tilted upward. Only reason I ended up using GMBC when I really didn’t want to was because my crappy Kaiser insurance! I had my first child at Howard County General and it was the best experience I could ask for. Now I would not want to have anymore children after the experience at GMBC! If you have an option, go ANYWHERE ELSE! Unless you don’t care how you deliver your baby, but for me it ruined my excitement and joy of giving birth. Now I’m stuck with my only option if I decide to have another child is by c-section. I can say thank god my baby is healthy! And that most of the staff was really nice. Make sure some one can bring you some food :) because their food is pretty gross, cold (I had to microwave the food to try to eat it) and was almost always wrong. I tried to order twice and gave up on them.
I had an IN/OUT procedure here . EVERY nurse I encountered (and I prob had over 10 different ones) was just awesome. Personality , manners, efficient....just shows how they make it all happen- Great experience. Super happy with Dr.Jacobs-GYN continually followed up with me on everything over the last 2 months leading up to day of - big thanks☆
I was taken great care of here at GBMC when I had 2 surgeries when I was a toddler, for one of the surgeries I had to stay overnight. We received great care and amazing doctors and nurses! I also go here for yearly eye checkups, and Ive always had a positive experience! I highly recommend this hospital.
Terrible experience. I was in horrible pain but left at 3 a.m. after waiting 5 1/2 hours and no hope of being seen…they had NO idea how long it would be. Of course there’s triage, but this was beyond crazy. Told by a nurse that an abnormal lab result was probably result of “too much protein”- he didn’t have any idea what he was talking about. He should not have been interpreting my medical information in any case. I observed the charge nurse in the front area several times NOT WEARING A MASK. AT LEAST THREE GUARDS ALSO NOT WEARING MASKS. I was truly shocked. Staff were rude and couldn’t have cared less. Only two people out of many showed any kindness at all. The triage nurses and the phlebotomist didn’t clean between patients, didn’t wash hands and didn’t clean off the tray that they put bloodwork and COVID swabs on. Read that Maryland has worse waiting room times in the nation. I will NOT pay the bills. The labs were not collected properly, a triage nurse didn’t write down my meds or dosage correctly. Truly shocking. Somebody needs to do an undercover investigation of this place.
I had an emergency procedure done here a few years ago. The first nurses when I came in and the doctor that performed the procedure were very pleasant but when it came time for the actual procedure, there was one nurse I remember that was very rude. I mean, it was my first time being admitted to a hospital for anything and my first time getting surgery so of course I was scared out of my mind. It was almost this as if this lady expected me to know already what she want me to do. I wish I remembered her name cause I would have reported her nasty attitude.
Melissa BSN, RN is the definition of phenomenal. She is, for sure, the woman of the night and deserves some recognition. When I first walked in here, gasping for breath and unable to catch it, I was honestly ready to leave. The moment the staff found out I suffered from a mental disability--even on the most minor of scales--, it became everyones sole focus, and seemed to almost dictate their reactions and treatment. I felt singled-out and like every diagnosis from there on out would come right back around to my mental illness. However, it didnt touch her. She made sure that I wasnt treated any differently, and even stayed in the room with me for as long as possible in between her treks to retrieve supplies, ensuring that I didnt experience any more discomforts, and acting as my liaison of sorts. She reassured me that she, herself, was a mental illness advocate, and that she would never let me be treated any differently because of my prior diagnoses. She ended up being this nights saving-grace, turning a stressful and disconcerting situation into one of ease and reassurance. If I could solely rate employees, she would, for sure, receive a five-star rating, no question about it. She is the reason Im leaving this hospital with the treatment I needed, and I honestly could probably never thank her enough.
Waited in the waiting room for 9 hours just to have my father seen by a doctor for a possible stroke. 6 hours in we were told we were next. 2 hours later we were told the same thing. Patients around us were complaining that they had IV lines in for over an hour after they were finished. There was used cups, napkins, and other trash on the floor. The nurses are good but the ER Doctors there are not very engaged, they seek to make all the vital stats match the recomended levels so they can legally discharge the patients, but take no effort to find what the root cause of the problem is or to seperate symptoms vs causes. If you have a choice in the matter, go elsewhere, this hospital appears to be treating patients with shotgun medicine-- take in as many patients as possible with the most minimal medical treatment as is legally required so the hospital can maximize its profits.
In the ER waiting for hours upon hours to be seen for ruptured appendicitis and Im given a 600 Motrin and medicine for nausea when that wasnt one of my symptoms. I was told since I was coming from patient first and they were given heads up that I would get a CT-Scan but NO, Im put in a wheelchair, blood taken and pushed in a corner. The left side is on pained, Im irritated and dehydrated. No one checking on me and when I finally say Im leaving knowing I cant even walk, I am told there 7 people more important than you and although your white blood count is elevated, its your choice to stay or not...mind you hour ago there were only 5 ahead of as a 10 min wait for a warm blanket turned into 35 min wait.....This is the LAST time I put myself through the ridiculous for her....I had them push me to my car and I drove myself in pain level at a 10, to St. Joseph and immediately I was put into a room and given proper treatment. I will never revisit GBMC as long as I can help it.
I went to the ER here for the first time and had a wonderful experience. The whole staff was great and I left feeling like they cared and while there I felt that I was in good hands! I’d definitely go back again without a doubt. Very clean environment. The Dr’s here cut right to the chase and made me feel like a #1 priority. Thanks GBMC, I’m forever grateful for how I was treated with such great care!
Veronica, Millie, Dr. Russell, Kimarla....and so many others! Thank you for your service and your spirit. What a blessing you were to me. I was in emergency room at 1st yesterday...then admitted....The staff was so caring. I never had a dr/nurse explain anything to me like Mille... U areca blessing! .was just discharged from 4th floor Zone C, I believe. I cant wait to pay my bill. I almost took a star away but thought about it cause clearly they are overworked! Thank you🤗
My husband was in the icu for suspected stroke and the icu unit was great, they go above and beyond to make sure youre ok. They also found other important health issues while he was there so I am very grateful that they are thorough
The absolute worst experience Ive ever had. The psychiatrist bullied me into not leaving and ended up stuffing me in some psych clinic for about a week. Still having anxiety about the experience. I went for help. He even tried to push zanax on me after repeatedly telling him I didnt want it. Despicable human being. Wish I knew his name. Tall and light hair is all I remember. Absolute jerk.
During our lives, we meet alot of people. Some are purely unforgettable. I have been here at GBMC since the 20th of December.Hailey, Mario, Nick, Kim, Tia and the list goes on of the nurses, techs and students I have met. Hidden in Towson, there is this group of people that are unicorns. They are by far the most caring, kind, special, thoughtful people you will ever meet. They have a goal to make you better and they do it effortlessly. I dont know who will see this but someone needs to recognize this group of men and women who are definitely the angels among us. Thank you to you all for everything you did/are doing to make my life easier while I am here with equipment that hinders you every step of the way. You are appreciated more than you could ever know.
One of the better hospitals in a city and state with lots of competition. I have more confidence in them than Hopkins, which I really think is overrated, with physicians that pretend to care about you for both their ego and self-advancement. GBMC is my go to hospital! Great staff, great doctors that direct all their skills to actually make you well!
Terrible - Im scheduled for surgery but this place is too incompetent to get a covid test done. No one is helpful and they hang up on you. My leg is shattered so its not like I can just walk around the hospital all day - why are you making things so difficult. Fix my leg!Avoid this terrible place as the ER wasnt of any use and just sent me to a building with chained up doors.
I was incredibly uncomfortable and in pain. The staff is incredibly patient and kind. I was not patient until fluids and meds. The nurse matt had incredibly warm hands and mine were freezing so I wanted his hands. Long story short, I feel better now. Thanks.
As someone who works in healthcare (and for a few of the organizations within the Baltimore community), I have to say I am very impressed with GBMC.My son recently was taken to the E.D. at GBMC as a result of a lip laceration. The hospital was very clean; and the staff was very nice, professional and thorough. Although; I am sure someone within the emergency department could have stitched my sons lip, they went the extra step and called in Dr. Samuel Hahn with the ENT associates to do so on a Sunday evening to make sure it was done as best as it could be.Dr. Hahn was very calm, and really explained everything to my son, which really helped him to stay calm (as he is only 9). You can tell that he takes a lot of pride in his work; it is barely noticeable that he had 13 stitches.I really appreciated the PA Kyle A Sloan checking back in on us to re-teach/ reinforce the wound care, medication regimen, and to make sure that we didnt have any further questions or concerns.Everything from the facility, the care given, the education, and scheduling for follow up was painless... which is how the process should be. It is very reassuring to know that there is a really good hospital so close to home.Should I ever need to recommend a hospital, I will confidently recommend GBMC.Thank you for your great care.
WORST ER EVER!!!! Wish I could give 0 stars!!!!! Dirty, filled with junkies, chaotic, no order! Wait time is horrible. Some people in here look near death and they are still WAITING!!! Shame on you GBMC!!!!!
The One Star is For the Two E.R. Nurses that helped me keep my sanity when I was having a panic attack over fear of a C.T. scan. As far as the E.R. Dr. Michael J.Santiango you can go Stuff yourself!! I use to say GMBC was Better than all Maryland Hospitals, But not anymore!!! I was in pain from my I.V. complained of Numbness in my legs and needed help but because I refused my C.T. scan( I had a bad experience) he rudely said I was abusive to his staff and threatened security on me. Oh only after telling me that I may have a blood clot in my lung and if I refuse medical care I could go home in die.
I just had a great experience at GBMC today. I have Hypoparathyroidism and I was hypocalcemic. I was in a lot of pain and the nurses up front immediately took my arm and took me back. My ER nurse Jessica was excellent and I had her the last time I was there. I was admitted and my MICU nurse was Stacey who was great as well. These nurses gave wonderful service. Thank you to all the wonderful staff here. I go to the ER somewhat due to my disease so it’s nice to have caring people there.
Ive been Having brain and vision issues for 3 weeks . I had an MRI done and a vision check up by an Ophthalmologist at GBMC. There appears to be no urgency from anyone except from me concerned why my eyes are swimming in my head and my vision isnt correct and I feel dizzy the doctors know this, I scheduled two neurological appointments both have been canceled in one week. Weve had bad experiences in the past at gbmc also with people being overdosed and not watched after properly in the hospital I think Im just going to find a better hospital to deal with. Very very disappointed with GBMC and their healthcare. So I call their HR dept. who transfers me to patient advocacy and i get a voicemail. That place us horrible.
If I could give 0 stars I would. This place is slow and incompetent. I brought my mother in with severe gastrointestinal issues at 9:45 PM. I am writing this at 2:45 AM waiting for blood test results done at 10:30 and a CAT scan done at 2:15 AM. This is pathetic. The front nurses do not know how to communicate with other departments, and there is nothing hospitable about this place. I will never come here or recommend to anyone.
I am very impressed with the service provided while a patient at the GBMC Emergency Room on 10/6/20. I had a head injury. The doctors, Nurses and other Staff were so empathetic, patient and professional. The two (2) doctors that treated me wereDr Kyle Bloomer (1st Doc)GBMCDr William Ziegler (2nd Doc)GBMCThis is the Hospital where most of my doctors work.Highly recommended!
Dr. Helou is an excellent surgeon and Gynecologist with great beside manner and knowledgeable about womens health. Also, they kept in contact with my fiance by text messaging of my health status. Received a call from one of the nurses the day after surgery to check on me. I want to thank the GBMC surgical team for their kindness and care towards me I felt cared for from the time I arrived up until I left. Looking forward to having continued care from GBMC. Job well done 🥰
Last week my wife, ten weeks pregnant, experienced cervical bleeding. Fearing the worse, we immediately went to the ER at GMBC. Given her situation, the ER sent us downstairs to the OB triage unit. Crying and sitting in a pool of her blood for two hours, the clinical staff bumped her waiting position for patients with more serious conditions. Once back in the triage room, the clinical staff administered tests off and on, all while we continued to wait for another 3 hours. Finally, the Nurse Practitioner informed us that the ultrasound couldn’t find a pregnancy and that our baby “was most likely a pile of mush.” No hospital should have such demeaning polices nor should anyone have to tolerate such degrading staff. I would not recommend this OB department to anyone
I suggest everyone who one see my reviews GBMC only best hospital in the Baltimore city and worst one Franklin secure
My dad has had multiple problems going to this hospital. When he had Covid-19 and double pneumonia obviously no one could go with him to the hospital, so I called GBMC to talk to him after I couldn’t reach him on his cellphone they said they couldn’t do anything for me because their systems were down. Also, since December my dad has had pneumonia (it’s mid March). The only thing they’ve given him was steroids.. He still has pneumonia after 3 months! He just went back again because his heart has been skipping beats and beating irregularly for a while now. The doctors admitted him and said he needed to stay there for a couple days to run tests then they SENT HIM HOME. My dad is scared as well as our family for his health and life.
Do not recommend going to GBMC Vascular department or to Dr. Freiburg! Two of my family members had Vascular surgery By Dr. Freiburg.. One ended in amputated toes! And second time was sent home with accidental cut of artery which caused severe blood loss and is now fighting for him life! My mother almost had to have her leg amputated! And her incision became an open wound! This is not a coincidence! I am wondering how many more people left his surgery worse than when went in?
Most of my doctors have their offices on the GBMC Campus. In addition, I recently went the ER, then had emergency surgery. The wait was too long in the ER. I knew I dangerously illand actually begged a nurse going back in after getting something to eat, to help me get in front of a doctor. Thank goodness I did, it saved my life. My 6 day stay was very nice and all nirses and staff were very involved, very friendly, very responsive and helpful. Everyone from Doctors to Teansport Staff, went out of their way to make sure I was well taken care of and tried to brighten my day. Great hospital, great staff, beautiful grounds. The prices are high, but you can dispute and apply for a reduction in charges through a hardship program they offer, if you qualify.
Showed up with unbearable chest pain and a reaction from a normal dose of a prescription drug I was taking. Somehow ended up in the psychiatric unit for people that would self harm. And proceeded to have a panic attack, they did nothing but watch me in agony. When I should have been in an actual hospital unit. You guys wouldnt let me leave this lockdown unit. Holding me against my will for now reason at all. Eventually they realized their mistake but the damage was already done. Never ever going back. I advise others to stay away.I
This whole place is hell. If you have never been here and you have an appointment for radiology dont go to Radiology because theyre not there anymore theyve moved across the entire campus to a whole different building. Be sure to leave an hour early so that you can navigate all the stupid little signs that point to nowhere and all the dead ends and stop signs that dont actually mean anything. They are parking garages are an absolute complete mess. Their parking lots are not for patients... although they are completely empty. So for instance if you have an enlarged cyst covering your ovary you are required to walk 1/2 Mile possibly in the right direction.. but probably in the wrong direction to where you might or might not have to be.*** they give you a ticket when you get on campus and charge you when you leave probably because they know you will get lost and well have to be there longer than you wanted to be in order to charge you more money.***
Beware of out-of-network costs at the ER even if this hospital is considered in-network for your insurance plan. The ER contracts doctors and technicians that are employed from external companies that dont fall under the same insurance coverage as the hospital. Ive had to visit the ER multiple times, and each time Ive received a bill from these external companies for thousands of dollars months after I paid the original hospital bill.
Idk if its because i came to ER 930 am on a Thursday but I have had a great experience here. Staff was quick and attentive. I even had to have emergency surgery and that was a breeze as well. Everyone made me feel comfortable and didn’t work my nerves up by having me sitting around for hours and misinformed. I was informed of everything going on and given best options and encouragements. The GyN department was great as well as the ER doc. Best hospital i have been too TBH. Only thing was they tried to talk to me while I was still doped up from anesthesia loll so now gotta wait for the residents in the morning to see what all happened during surg and etc. i leave tomorrow anyway.
I can not thank you organization enough, primarily your pediatric ER staff for being so kind and compassionate with my son on Sunday last. You made a very scary situation very comfortable for my child. Thank you for being there on a Sunday like that.
I waited for my ENT in the NORTH Pavilion for 2 hours. No one checked on me in my room until I finally had to walk out otherwise I would have risked losing my other doctors appointment I had later for that day this is the second time Ive had to wait but Ive never had to wait so long and a doctors office with no one ahead of me and no one to check on me. And most importantly it was only because they are fused to talk to me on the phone regarding CT scan results so I drove all the way up there. For an hour and 42 minutes just to talk and never even got that far nor did I receive an apology phone call or a follow-up as to why I left
I live in the Towson area. When Ive been sick in the past I used the services of Greater Baltimore Medical Center. I have great insurance. I say this because the uninsured patient experience might be different then my own.I have always found the doctors professional. The facilities are always clean. The coffee shop is clean with a nice variety of snacks. The coffee is not good as Starbucks but the coffee is not perfectly horrid.Greater Baltimore Medical Center (GMBC) to the locals is a low to mid rise medical complex. GMBCs main buildings are nestled on a large beautiful well manicured park like campus located just north of Baltimore City. GMBC has state of the art diagnostic technologies including advanced imagining facilities. GMBC boasts many of the latest in demand patient care modalities. Much of GMBCs building complex was originally built in the later third of the last century however its buildings and physical plant are updated to meet or exceed 21st century medical standards in every way.If you visit GBMC be prepared for a pleasant climate controlled walk within its vast and sprawling facilities. GMBC is an absolute labyrinthine maze of corridors and elevator lobbies. The good people of GMBC know their hospitals vast horizontal layout takes time to navigate. All GBMC staff seem more than happy to help you find your destination. The doctors are great, as are the nurses and support staff especially housekeeping. The buildings never look tired, run down, grimy or nasty. You never see many burnt out light bulbs or other tell tale signs of neglect in building maintenance. The skilled medical care is definitely patient centered and comprehensive at GBMC. Local people served by GMBC definitely trend toward the amply insured middle to upper middle class income demographic.GMBC is located on the number 51 bus line which terminates in Towson to the North in Baltimore County, Maryland. The bus #51 terminates to the south near Camden Yards in Downtown Baltimore City. GMBC is open 24 hours a day and has an adequate emergency room as of this writing. There are medical professions pavilions directly adjacent to and or attached to the main hospital complex so routine aftercare by skilled doctors is easily accessed if needed.Parking at GBMC is NOT free but is reasonable if you are middle class to upper income. Parking in some instances can be validated. Parking is provided in multilevel parkcade structures located at strategic points in the hospitals layout. GMBC is secure but the Security Presence is not overwhelming, self important and rude. GMBC security in a word is always appropriate and effective for the security demands it must respond to.Ive been to GBMC over 30 times for my different medical situations related to cerebral palsy, diabetes, skin conditions, autism and more. I have never ever been treated badly by anyone at GBMC. I am a gentleman of color. Visiting GMBC and always being treated with respect makes this a rare, wonderful welcoming place for me. I give GMBC my best FIVE STAR REVIEW!
First, I have never known labor and delivery to have visiting hours, but have 24hr access. Second never known not to be able to visit as clergy. Third, the main lobby attendant sent me to labor delivery and on my way out I asked why did you send if you knew I couldnt go, she responds, I thought your patient was available? huh? so the hours are conditional? Fourth, I told the security guard who I was visiting and was told that doesnt even sound like a mothers name huh? and also told me as clergy I could not visit #SOdisappointed
GBMC Security Department is a very unprofessional low-paying job. When you have problems when you work there they just sweep it under the table and let nonsense continue. Also its a non-union job and can fire you any day. Also been racial profile working there they did nothing about it good luck trying to get a job.
Should get zero stars. Expected more from this hospital but ER and ER doctors are horrible and clueless. No triage from nurse, lack of care, lack of testing, ridiculous wait time for health issue that should have gotten faster response. Wrong diagnosis from doctor.and worst care ever
I work for a contractor that is doing an addition to the hospital, this morning we were notified that we are not welcome to use the hospital’s amenities (such as popping in and getting something to eat) kinda funny that they choose to disrespect the hard working sub contractors that are contributing to the expansion of a medical center that has the potential to help a lot of people. Not to mention how ridiculous it is that we aren’t allowed to get something to eat on public property. Kind of a shame, it just goes to show that people such as Greater Baltimore Medical Center decide to look down upon those who are blue collar, it’s a pity.
GBMC has dropped the ball so much during the ransomware attack. It’s been almost two months since the attack and they aren’t communicating with their patients properly on what’s happening.. sometimes their phones work and other times they don’t work at all.. I am trying to transfer from this hospital and I spoke to medical records and they are saying , my medical records can possibly be available in two weeks !!! I’ll be 38 weeks pregnant by then!!!! There’s no apology or other options given to its patients.. the doctors , nurses , surgeons , front desk staff are all walking blindly and totally relying on the memory of it’s patients because they have no back up system or plan in place!! I’m over it!! I’ll never come back to GBMC !!!
My mother-in-law was in the ER then admitted for 4 days. Every technician, nurse, doctor and hospital employee was INCREDIBLE! Everyone was professional, friendly, knowledgeable and helpful which was great in a stressful situation. Cant say enough good things about GBMC.
Ill try to be as pleasant as possible. Took my nursing wife to the ER this Sunday morning January 29, 2017 because i couldnt see my wife in so much pain and agony for two more days until she sees her doctor on Tuesday the 31st, of January. She has been suffering from hemorrhoids and after she gave birth it has gotten to a point where she cant sleep and she is truly suffering after every bowl movement. We arrived at the ER at approx. 9:09am and we expressed the above written and even more to the front nurse. The nurse didnt seem to care or try to get her examined quickly as possible. The nurse called her name aprrox. 11:10pm to be seen by the Doctor. The Doctor examined her around 11:55pm and said He told me they might need to numb the area and drain out all that blood the exact text I received from my wife. I was happy that they were going to help relieve her from her pain and agony. However, she had to wait on the surgeon to come in. The surgeon came in and examined my wife and asked her where exactly does it hurt my wife was in disbelief she would ask her that because it hurt in the whole general area where the hemorrhoid and tear is. The surgeon said They said unfortunately hemmroids and tears dont have any urgent surgical intervention my wife replied to the surgeon I kept asking about surgical intervention and nothing she said unfortunately nothing can be done. Then my wife texted me while I waited outside in the waiting room with our 6 week old , She didnt even talk about draining it to relief my pain . We walked into the ER of GBMC to get my wife treated and cared for and walked out with no treatments. We hope they send out bill to our lawyer.***note this is not intended to tranish the hospital or staff that was working today January 29, 2017. But to simply state you as a whole neglected to treat a Nursing Mother to a 6 week old baby which is in severe pain and agony. ***
For ms. Duvall: I have been a patient at GBMC for many years. It helps to get a map of the campus to navigate, although the signs are good. Park by the main hospital and everything but Bluebell is within walking distance. All on the same road. That way it is easy. If you want to park right in front of your building...you cant. It is a BIG medical center. Prepare for a couple of minutes of a walk. If you cant walk or are too lazy, then you have fewer choices. People .. employees.. are friendly. It also helps if you are pleasant as no one likes dealing with a screamer. GBMC saved my life.. I love those doctors.
GBMC has provided the best care for my mother. Thank you to the amazing staff for your kindness, patience, compassion and for being so helpful.
After my ex-husband was turned away at our local hospital with terrible covid symptoms we brought him to you. He ended up in your icu for 2 days and reg room for 2 more. THANK YOU for saving his life we cannot say enough nice things about your hospital. Soooo worth the drive.
This used to be a really good hospital 40 years ago .After traveling around the country and living in different locations, I realize how awful this hospital is now. Anything that GBMC touches, like their satellite offices, and businesses they buy, takes a downward trajectory.
Almost killed my friend because of their negligence. They claim they spoke to the emergency to justify their extremely poor judgment and unprofessionalism, but they didnt speak to the emergency contact. Not surprised they lied about it after the disgusting way they left my friend. This place is clearly a death trap that has zero regard for their Patients safety. I would NEVER recommend this hospital. What they did to my friend is downright terrifying and unacceptable!
This review is concerning the Dietary Dept only. Tonight I sit in this hospital without the ability to order food. I will be forced to go without eating for 36 hours. A basic human need cannot be met by this hospital. There are major changes needed within the Dietary Dept.
Was stuck there for 5 days. Food is surprisingly decent for a hospital. Nurses were great, smiling, and as attentive as they could be with their patient load. If I had to be stuck in a hospital again, please let it be at GBMC.
I cannot express my gratitude for the Nurses, Doctors, Nurse Assistants, Transporters and every person I have been in contact this past week at GBMC. I can’t imagine being in a hospital that has taken the Covid-19 situation any more serious than GBMC. These are the most dedicated folks I have come across. Thank you from the bottom of my ❤️ for my numerous cups of ice chips and helping me get well enough to go home 🏡
Last year, I was in a car accident and the driver tried to drive away, blame me, then cried when the officer told her she was going to have a hard time defending herself to the insurance companies. Then she offered me her business card and said that she was a doctor and she’d be happy to help if I did in fact have injuries... this obtuse timing of an unprofessional offer was inopportune and assured I would be avoiding these medical services.
My sister was a nurse at this hospital. They misdiagnosed her cancer and then fired her for missing work because of her cancer. I would never go this hospital. They should be charged criminally for their actions.
I’m giving 4 stars bc it was VERY clean and the staff were VERY nice except for the nurse I had ... she says she also works at John Hopkins . She was African American and so am I , the other nurses of other skin color treated me a lot better smh I’m very disappointed. My first time coming and I will never come back .I remember Smh her name was nurse Belle !!
Labor and delivery was awesome!!! Wish I had both my children there. And my gyn. rocks!!! She down to earth compassionate and makes me feel comfortable to ask all and any questions I may have. Love this hospital!!!!
My experience was excellent!!! I arrived 1/4/18 wee hours in the am by car, I was registered and seen immediately. There was no crowded lobby and I received immediate care right away. Every staff member that I came in contact with were pleasant, friendly and so caring, we even joked after they got me all better lol. I would so recommend GBMC E.R. they are the best! Hands down!!!!!
My son had broken his elbow and his school nurse ask us to take him to GBMC emergency medicine. So went there. They took some xrays and after some deliberations told us that they cant fixed it at GBMC and referred us to Johns Hopkins. All they did there were taking xrays and put an IV (which the nurse had some issue with). They called the Hopkins team and Hopkins took care after that with no glitch (thats why Hopkins is no 1 hospital). Now all said and done, I started to get bills from GBMC, from all over the places, their hospital billing, their physicians billing and what not. For just putting my son in the room for 1 hr and giving no care whatsoever GBMC billed my insurance thousands of dollors of which I end up paying some significant portion. The physicians practice billed us more than $2000 when the doc even didnt come to see us when we were there. I felt like I was being ripped off from every department of this hospital. I dont understand how they could bill so much money to my insurance while providing us no care whatsoever. Looks like thats their way of making most of their money. I was very disappointed wiih their behavior.
I had the worst experience ever. ER doctor and 2nd shift Nurse were so uncaring. Six hours there and couldn’t get some water or something for a headache. They are surely in the wrong field.
I used to think this was a good Hospital until I was seen Wednesday and discharged with gallstones. When they discharged me I was light headed and vomiting and was told the surgeon would not operate on me. I cant eat and if I do I cant keep food down. I would give it a zero for my emergency room visit.
My sister was a patient in the emergency department and was admitted to the hospital for treatment. Staff in both sections of GBMC was helpful and compassionate in treating an 80-year-old with a new fracture and long-term medical concerns.
This place has definitely gone down over the years, before you could be in and out within a couple hours. Today I sat for almost 4 hours with an iv and ekg stickers stuck all over me. I told them I was feeling faint and my blood pressure was rising but they didn’t take any of this into consideration. I asked for the iv to be removed and I left. Customer service isn’t great anymore either
The front staff at the emergency room are the worst people, they have no compassion towards family members who are aware because of covid 19 , they are completely unprofessional, arrogant, ignorant people. If they hate their job so much why have that type of job position, they need to do a clean up of the entire front staff
Very disappointed by the service that was given at this hospital. The wait to be seen was too long and the quality of service of was very minimum. I felt that the nurses and doctors werent really listening but were more interested in typing information into the computer. Very little privacy while giving your information to the registrar.
If I could give a ZERO, I would! This hospital has gone down hill. Years ago in the late 90s to early 2000’s, they were ok. If you need care, go elsewhere!!!
Horrible hospital experience. Negligence and or malpractice may happen if you don’t demand care. Please have someone there with you as they will take advantage of you if you are not competent. 9 times out of 10 you aren’t. I was definitely neglected and malpractice can be argued as a case.
I delivered my children at this hospital, and I cant recommend it enough. Each stay was a great experience. The staff is excellent, and the nurses are angels.
If you want pain meds and your pain to be masked and your medical needs ignored so they can send you home and misdiagnose you, come here! If you want real help with people who actually care, drive right down the road to St. Joes. Yesterday my bf was given a cat scan and blood work at GBMC, they told him that his abdominal pain was likely gas related when the scans were coming up normal. The pain meds werent working and I thought that was strange because if it was gas, that should work for him. The pain persisted and got increasingly worse after they sent us home. We went to St. Joes for a 2nd opinion. It took them no more than 3 hours to run another cat scan and find acute appendicitis, which was ruled out by GBMC. Done with this hospital, I will never return.
I absolutely love Labor & Delivery! Would def. delivery there again IF I decided to have another child, however, the newborn photographer sucked. She was having a bad day- apparently her co-worker called out and she was overwhelmed. Her attitude was a bit much. Fortunately, the photos turned out okay :)
I am very disappointed. We have been here since 730pm and it is now 1245am. No Dr has seen us or given our results of blood work. I have always loved coming here. NO MORE. And dont tell me its because of Covid.
Gave a one star review. But had to change after thinking of how the COMP program took care of me and the compassion Dr. Khouzami had with me after giving birth. Although I had a lot of bad experiences and the bad outweighs the good, still, I can’t forget the good
My Wife was too have surgery. She went and had a covid test and a EKG test and then they tell us the surgery is canceled cause of over scheduling. Who is paying for everything done already and now they want to reschedule next year and do it all over again. No way.
A great experience in the hospital stay. But one of the worst experience dealing with the billing department. Being a physician I know the system, and you would think that the billing department would be patient enough to listen to what you are saying. Rude, interrupted frequently.
ATTENTION: GBMC NURSE JEFF MARTIN TURNS INTO DETECTIVE:Im writing about my personal experience on 6/9/2019, and the document I am quoting from is available to the public and is public information at the Towson District Court House. This is what GBMC charged my mom and me with after my mom borrowed an oxygen tank:On 06/09/2019 at approximately 1926 hours, I was dispatched to the Greater Baltimore Medical Center (GBMC) located at 6701 N. Charles St, 21204 in reference to a theft. Upon arrival, I was met by Complainant Vernon Williams.Complainant Williams (GBMC security officer) advised that two female subjects stole an oxygen tank from the emergency department .He stated that Defendant [name redacted] and her mother, Co-defendant [name redacted], had been in the E.R. for treatment and, after being discharged, took a GBMC wheelchair with an oxygen tank into the parking garage, then placed the tank in their vehicle and left the property. Both Defendents were positively identified by their MD drivers licenses using the identifying information provided to GBMC and surveillance footage.I spoke to witness Jeff Martin (GBMC nurse) who advised that Co-Defendant [name redacted], after being placed in a GBMC wheelchair, was pushed to the waiting room. Witness Martin was advised by other GBMC staff to keep an eye on both Defendants because they had been repeatedly told that they were not permitted to remove an oxygen tank from GBMC property. He stated that he noticed both Defendants begin to leave the waiting room......so he began to follow. He advised that he followed them out of the waiting room, out of the building into the parking lot, and then into the parking garage. He stated that he observed them remove the oxygen tank from the wheelchair and place it in a gray Kia [vehicle model redacted].Side notes- Jeff Martin, instead of taking care of patients in the ER, follows me and my mom to the car and is videotaping us on a cell phone (without our permission). He is even standing by the prking grge exit, filming us as we leave. I am currently working with GBMC to resolve this issue, however, they do not appear to be working on this matter much. And how safe is your personal information at GBMC? If I find they released any health information to the police, I will call an attorney immediately for violation of HIPPA. I am going to get copies of the police report and attachments and GBMC better not have released any medical information to police, like they released my drivers license and other personal identifying information.P.S. the oxygen tank was returned to GBMC on June 27, 2019 to security guard named Austin.
Was trying to make an appointment with a GI doctor was literally on hold for 25 minutes, so I hung up and retried calling in case it was an oversight. Again I was on hold for 15 minutes just to set up an appointment. Since there is such a high volume of calls, you may want to hire more receptionists to schedule appointments.
My friend went to this hospital ER with breathing problems and chest pains they made him wait 7 hours before he was seen. Once the staff got him to the back, the nurse ask him why did he wait so long to come to the hospital. WOW really! Hes only been setting in the ER waiting area struggling to breath for the last SEVEN HOURS. I would not recognize this hospital to anyone.
A family member has been in an out of the hospital for a few years now. Unless you know where you are going the hallways are a confusing deserted maze. Most of the staff are very knowledgeable, friendly and attentive. Parking always costs money, and you have to walk kind of far from the garage to the hospital.
I dont really leave reviews but I had to leave one I recently gave birth to my 3rd baby and u was so skeptical about a hospital birth again because my first was in the hospital and my experience with L&D nurses was terrible why I chose my second at home which was amazing and I loved however pcs in with the military last min in to pregnacy didnt gave me much option no one was taking me me because I was too far along however at 36 weeks I decided to go to er at upper Chesapeake cause I was having some pain and contractions went 2 more times after that and my visit was horrible 💔 and last min I decided to switch GBMC and it was the best decision I made they L&D nurses was amazing u could tell they love there nurses they listen to me when I told them everything and I admire them for that they were four nurses in particular Karen she took over from the. Night nurse I cant remember her name for the life of me but she was amazing especially when I was like this is my 3rd and when I push that button and say baby is coming please listen because I will gave birth soon she prep the table right away she related my msg to the morning nurse which was Karen I think was her name when I push that button Karen was with a patient but the other nurse came in she was about to check me but I said no because baby is coming in next contraction I just knew it by time she went to door to call Karen baby was out but her response to running and attending to me and my baby and the rest of nurses and doctors was phenomenal i felt safe onto my post partum recovery jullian and Mariah was amazing words cannot describe how I was so thankful for them taking care of us they were really good listeners and GBMC is lucky to have them I would recommend them a million times for L&D in Maryland thank you guys so much hope this help and sorry for long review .
Very kind and caring staff!! Very fast service. You can tell that everyone who works there really cares about people.
Concerning the ER: Terrible, unkept facilities. The staff was inattentive and unprofessional. If you wish to receive proper treatment, seek treatment elsewhere.
Bad experience, while in hospital, someone broke my glasses, and went in my purse. She took credit card, etc, while I had been taken for a ct scan. What makes me mad is that I asked the nurse to get my purse, and she said it will be alright to leave in room. When I notified security, the security man stated, what do you want me to do about it, go and arrest everyone..I called the police and they had photo of the per SON, but the hospital still did nothing.
Great staff great doctors plenty of off street parking 🅿️Handicap parking spots available too. Hospital 🏥 is easily accessible off Charles street. Been coming here for years for all my health care needs.
The staff at GBMC could not have been kinder to my family when my brother had a sudden and ultimately fatal illness. We were so grateful for the time we were able to spend with him before he passed away.
Wonderful. I received excellent care from doctors, nurses and all of the technicians. They gave me real TLC and treated me to a truly first rate experience. Forever grateful to all who took care of me @ GBMC.
Definitely NOT LGBT friendly. Not to mention, after spending 3 hrs in their waiting room, struggling to breathe, I wasnt even close to getting a room. In fact, I had TWICE as many people in front of me in their queue.
GET THE FEES THEY CHARGE IN ADVANCE of any services being provided!Ive been going back and forth with them for 2 years now on services they provided. They had a sign on the desk suggesting one price for the services and when the bill came it was entirely different. When I complained, they said I missed the fine print and they offered a payment plan, but no willingness to accept responsibility or to reduce the fees. Our fees are approved by the State...so you are basically screwed (my addition not in quotes)...nice place.Went to the BBB and GBMC has yet to respond. They are obviously VERY concerned about the consumer (thats sarcasm).PUSH BACK OR YOU MIGHT BE PAYING FOR A LONG TIME!
Even with a referral Dr. Beckman refused to see me. I was told by her staff that she does not help diagnose diseases that could be diagnosed by my primary care physicans and that i have to go back to the doctor that referred me to her Infectious Desease profession. Having respiratory issues. DO NO HARM huh...by delaying diagnosis it may.
Great hospital! My child had all 3 surgeries there, and has been there many other times. The staff is kind, trustworthy, and helpful. Thanks, GBMC! ;)
I was recently in GBMC for several days. Dr. Ward, and all of the other doctors I saw, as well as the nurses, techs, etc were wonderful. They were very attentive and truly cared.
The emergency room is the WORST my 3 month old is vomiting Ive been here since 9pm and we are still waiting to be seen its now 2:18a.m. Ive never seen anything like this in my life. No one comes out to said anything to you they just leave you there for dead...
Terrible visit. Sat in the ER for five hours with extreme abdominal pain, just to be brought into a room and told there was nothing theyd do to help. The whole time the staff was terribly rude and condescending, worst hospital experience Ive ever had
The doctor and the staff at this facility were rude, and had no compassion for my family member! They could care less about patients. The quality of service was unacceptable! I hope to never have to go there ever again.
This is the absolutely worse hospital I have ever seen. Every day some nursing student or lazy slow nurse when on staff. The doctors are good but the nurses are horrible.
Never attended me I went at midnight and did not get a room until 9 am and a woman was screaming for help and they never bothered to look at her
The internal medicine office does not care if you are in pain for YEARS if you are under the age of 40 they do anything possible to give you crappy medications they know suck. They are more concerned about their licenses then their patients and ongoing pain. If you are under the age of 30 they age descriminate you and just assume you are going to abuse or sell any opiates. So do not go here if you are in any type of pain because they abaolutely do not care and will just discriminate against your age.
Worst experience. Staff works like snails. Been waiting in the ER for 4 hrs and counting. Only reason im still wanting here is because my doctor told me it was very critical to be seen but obviously not critical enough to the ER staff. Ugh. And the registration nurse was rude
I have been with GBMC for a year now. I have several different physicians & I have had wonderful experiences with the care teams. I am very pleased, the offices are clean, staff are caring & accommodating.
If you want your child to live, and not have any health problems don’t give birth here!!! After they harm you and baby they’ll send you home like nothing happened.
Avoid GBMC in everyway you can! Go to St. Joseph’s, Hopkins, Mercy Hospital…anywhere else. At GBMC, someone has lied in every single office I’ve dealt with. The medical staff failed to follow-up. The Business Office refused to do anything.Terrible and corrupt culture – stay away from GBMC!
My surgery team at GBMC was absolutely amazing! They were all genuinely kind, from the nurses to the surgeons. It was also very clean!!
5 Stars just to say THANK YOU GBMCFor getting rid of those Booths when you enter!!!!I was pleasantly surprised yesterday after visiting my Oncologist and this time I didnt have to stop and pay on my way out!!!YAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYAAAAA!!!Just wish I didnt have to pay for all those 8 weeks of Radiation!!!!!!Cancer Free!!! God is GOOD!Love you Dr. CHAUDHRY & SANDY! :)Jacqueline S
