I was constantly cancelled on when I mad an appointment and I would not be rescheduled for months. This kind of practice is unprofessional. I would also not be told I would be charged for services that I thought were included in my preventative exam. I also was told I needed surgery and when I got a second opinion, I only needed a more simple procedure with a LEEP that would not be so costly and put me under. This facility only wants to make money in dishonest ways from the patients they serve.
Receptionists are reprehensible at this practice. Incredibly poor stewards of women’s health, and that’s if you can even get a hold of them in the first place. I have never had a positive experience with reception at this practice; they make it a point to send you to voicemail and not return calls for days at a time if at all.Reproductive health should lead with care, empathy, and understanding. You are unlikely to find that at the doors of this practice.Moved to Gynecology and Obstetrics – A Womens Health Connecticut Practice and have been much happier with my experience.
I am so disappointed that I feel the need to write a bad review. Where do I begin? From the beginning of my pregnancy I was rescheduled four times. I was nearing the end of my first trimester and was finally seen near 13 weeks. This was a red flag in my book, but I always give everyone the benefit of the doubt. My doctor was nice, but we didnt just click, which is personal preference and nothing against her. The practice however, is so disorganized and in over their head with clients. They keep accepting new clients, but then they dont have availability for them? The women at the front desk were always nice to me, however, the lack of professionalism was a bit alarming; it just showed that there was a disconnect with the management team and whoever runs this practice. They never picked up the phone when I would try to call, I would leave a message but no one would ever call me back or even listened to the message. This was extremely frustrating as I entered my third trimester. If you need more one-on-one attention then please, pick another practice. The last two encounters really alarming and I frantically wanted to find another practice, even if I was 34 weeks pregnant. Someone from the practice called me to inform me that the doctor would like to prescribe baby aspirin because I was considered high risk for preclampsia. Why was this so alarming? The doctor told me to take baby aspirin when I was about 20 weeks pregnant. I have been taking this for months now, and this is medication that you can simply buy over the counter, so why would you need to be prescribe this? I told the woman on the phone that I have been taking this for months and she was shocked. Every doctor should look at their clients chart, if they arent, what could happen to you in the future? It seemed like a future malpractice lawsuit waiting to happen, and I wasnt going to let that happen. I finally decided to call around different practices and decided to go with another practice that was still under the same umbrella group. The doctor there looked at my chart and saw that I was interested in a C-section. My mouth dropped open. This was never a conversation, and this was in my chart? My decision to leave was 100% justified and my gut feeling about this practice was correct. This was the second time they messed up my chart, and the last. Maybe I had a fluke experience, because my in-laws love this practice and have been going to them for a decade. But for myself? I didnt feel like they could be trusted, especially delivering my baby. Hopefully this practice can fix their issues and the doctors will not be penalized with mistakes that could have been avoided.
If I didn’t adore my OB and all the providers/and clinical staff I would’ve found another office. As I myself am an assistant manager of patient access and front office staff, they may need a reeducation on appropriate practices and customer service. The company needs to recognize these individuals are the ones providing the first step to the patient experience whether it be over the phone or check in and that really sets the tone for the overall perception of the customer experience.
Doctors are great, secretary is horrible to deal with. I had a medical emergency and needed to be seen immediately yet she stopped answering my calls and I had to come into the office in order to be taken seriously.
Customer service is horrible! I called so many times because I needed to reschedule my appointment. I left messages and nobody called me back. I decided to call again and finally I spoke with someone. I was told that there are not available doctors in West Harthord and other locations in the next two weeks. Really? I was flexible any day any time except the day I had my previous appointment. I am very frustrated. I am pregnant, I have little baby at home I dont need this stress and I dont have time to call every day and leave messages because is pointless. Nobody is calling you back. Except when they need my money for payment.
The office staff here are some of the actual worst people I have ever encountered. In one visit I was yelled at and told to have a seat and someone would help me. Twenty minutes later after listening to nonsense chatter between the nurses I asked if someone could help now assist me as I was waiting for an appointment. Lets be clear I was sitting directly in front of these women, the only person in the waiting room, and instead of an apology for the delay as one might expect, I was instead greeted with you still need help? Who else was supposed to help me?From there things only got worse. It seemed as if I had done something to offend this very angry woman. She cut me off when I attempted to answer her questions, was unable to answer any of mine and seemed irritated that I might have questions when scheduling a follow up procedure. She spoke down to me and was frankly rude and insulting at every opportunity. Immediately, following my appointment I called the office to cancel all future appointments. I will never subject myself to that negative atmosphere again. About a week later I called the office hoping beyond all hopes that I would talk to someone besides that wretched woman to no avail. She answered the phone and immediately acted put out. I asked for information on requesting my medical records. Rather than actually provide assistance I was told to go online to figure it out. Interestingly, the next day I got an email that my patient account with Womens Health had been deleted. I can only assume this was done by the office; however, considering it was my medical record I would expect to receive some warning or notice before my account was closed. Finally, despite calling the office and canceling all future appointments, subsequently calling and explaining I would need my records as I was transferring care and my patient account being closed, I received a no show bill several months later for the appt I canceled.Save yourself the insults and aggravation avoid this place. No provider is worth going through this type of hassel.
Simply terrible. Like other reviewers have mentioned, I too had my longstanding appointment cancelled due to unforseen circumstances. It had been on the calendar in March - had to reschedule due to COVID (which I get) so we moved it to July (I put in for the time off of work) and I get an EMAIL saying my appointment was cancelled due to unforseen circumstances several days prior.I tried to call my dr (Dr. McCumber) assistant THREE TIMES over two weeks asking what happened! She returned ONE of my calls - provided no explanation as to what happened (left this on a voicemail) and asked me to call back to schedule an appointment. It is impossible to get a live person on the phone at this office. I had to wait around on the new patient line on phone call #4 to talk to someone to reschedule this appointment. What a waste of my time!I asked to speak to the office manager and left her a message FOUR DAYS ago - no response. Can you imagine being the office manager, having a patient call you complaining that their medical care was delayed and just not calling back? These people are unethical at best. I like my Dr but they are a train wreck,Last year they were 45 min late for my appointment (I arrived 15 min early like I was supposed to) and part of the issue is that on the sign in sheet I can see that my dr has a 12:00, 12:15,12:30, and I am the 12:45. How can she do a physical in 15 min? So they are constantly backed up - have NO regard for my time, dont return phone calls, cancel appointments for no reason AND I had a billing problem where they double billed me for a visit that got sent to collections! These people should not be in the business of providing patient care.
Absolutely love this practice. I had my first child at a younger age and actually interviewed multiple OBs and once I met Dr. Mccomber I knew she was the perfect fit. Ive now been seeing this practice for 10 yrs and have never had a poor experience with any of the staff, all very professional, loving and compassionate people. I recommend Greater Hartford womens health and especially Dr Mccomber to every women I know.
Terrible experience with front desk. I was given an appointment at 7:15 AM on a Tuesday, time that office is usually closed but I was told there would be a doctor in the practice. Once I finally found the office, I arrived to my appointment 10-15 minutes late because I could not find their location and had spent time driving around in circles. I had called the office multiple times but no one was answering the phones and ended up leaving a voice mail. As soon as I told the front office my name she wanted to reschedule my appointment. I tried to explain why I was not on time but she could care less about what I was saying. I told her why didn’t I receive a call about wanting to reschedule my appointment and her response was that they don’t call patients, like what? Also, her excuse for not picking up the phones was because they where off. This office does not care about their patients condition or time. You are just another number on their patient list and are not treated as a person. Will not be rescheduling my appointment or recommend anyone to go here. All they care is about their “policies” which was never discussed with me and your money.
I see Dr. Gianna Craig and hope to never leave this practice. Shes quick and sweet and curious about her patients, and certainly the best gyno Ive ever had. Before her, I had seen Dr. Michael Hemphill twice and found him to be dismissive. The front desk staff have always been cool to me and Ive never had them cancel an appointment.
If I could rate this 0 I would. I called 5 different dates (8/17, 8/18, 8/20, 8/21, 9/2 - today) and spoke to countless individuals regarding a letter or documentation of some sort indicating a surgery that occurred back in 2013. Unfortunately, I live over 300 miles away so to be present to pick them up is not a luxury I have. After 3 different calls, I was told 3 different times that a fax would be sent out to me. Never received a fax or any piece of information regarding my surgery and this is STILL in need as we speak. On one occasion, I was transferred to the office manager and received her voice-mail. Its been about 2 weeks and I still havent heard from her. One of the other times I called, there was a note documented on my account stating they didnt fax anything because they never saw me. Dr. Hemphill performed my surgery and somehow I am unknown to their practice. Horrible in getting back to previous patients. Unless you are a current one, dont bother trying to get any of your records from them.
Been coming here for over 8 years.Staff tends to be friendly, personable and professional. These are mostly strong-personality women that work here, so they are firm. I have no issue with this because I treat them with respect and professionalism with a happy balance of joking around. The doctors are knowledgeable, they answer questions and always steer you in the direction that is best for YOU.Doctors do not push any ideology on you as a patient and they do treat you as a valuable person.Office is neat and clean, staff is always polished (appearance) and I have continuously recommended them to friends, family and my employees.
I had an appointment scheduled a month in advance for 8:30am. I’m new to the area and was unsure of where their office was located, as it in a store front shopping plaza. I began calling at 8:20am as I’m outside driving around trying to locate the office. I called for at least 20 minutes and the phone recording states that their offices open at 9am and to leave a message. I finally find the office and after driving here for an urgent new patient visit, I was forced to reschedule because of their incorrect phone message. When I informed the receptionist that I had been calling to inform that I was going to be a few minutes late, all she said was “yeah… I’ll have to have you reschedule”. It is unfair to the patients who are in need of services but can’t connect with someone on the phone due to a clearly incorrect phone recording and now are forced to wait another month to be seen.
I will not be returning to this practice. I had a couple of horrific experiences with greater Hartford womens health. The after hours staff are rude. Their bedside manner is awful. I felt as though my postpartum complications weren’t taken seriously. It took a week for them to call me back about an urgent matter. Most of the doctors at this practice are dismissive and impersonal.
Ive been a patient off and on for years. I left this practice in 2017 due to the office constantly canceling my appointments for unforeseen circumstances. I decided to give them a try for my upcoming 2020 appointment and already they canceled the appointment on me. It is impossible to reach a live person by phone, as their voicemail picks up immediately even if you call during posted business hours. If you value your time, DO NOT work with this practice!!!!!
I trust and really like my current ob-gyn, Dr. Sahakyan. She is very personable and straightforward. I’ve even had brief interactions with Drs. on call over the phone, which have been helpful and professional. The ultrasound technicians are also really great, very nice, and knowledgeable. The drop in star really stems from my unpleasant experiences with the front desk staff at the 100 Retreat Ave location. So much so that I prefer making appointments at the West Hartford or Glastonbury locations.
DO NOT GO HERE. Especially if you plan on moving/switching gynecologists in the future.I recently moved away from Connecticut and ran out of my last birth control packet. This means it was just over a year since I had my last annual. I scheduled an appointment with a new gynecologist near my new place of residence, and since I technically wasnt their patient yet, they were unable to refill my prescription, which makes sense. However, they said since I scheduled an appointment with a new doctor, my previous doctor (Dr. Trymbulak), should be able to give me a one month prescription to hold me over until my new annual appointment.I called Dr. Trymbulaks office, and they refused to prescribe me a one-month pack, despite the fact that I already set up a new annual appointment. They wouldnt even call my new doctor to confirm. My new doctors office was surprised by this fact, because they do it for their patients all the time.I take birth control for reasons other than strictly birth control. Theyre jeopardizing my health by not refilling my prescription. I wasnt asking for a 3 month refill...just one month to hold me over. I would understand their refusal if I asked this of them before, but this is the first time Ive ever requested a one month packet. The receptionists I spoke to on the phone were rude and kept cutting me off. The first time they cut me off mid-sentence to ask my date of birth. The second time they cut me off to tell me there is nothing they can do.If you want a doctor that will take care of you and look out for your well-being, dont go here.
I have a birth control prescription with them that needs a refill every 3 weeks, due to COVID I havent felt as comfortable going to hospitals/clinics and they never told me I needed an appt for a refill, all I had to do was schedule one and that I could reschedule and still get a refill.First they messed up the time of the appt over the phone and told me I didnt have to go when I actually did in order to get more, when that has never been the case for my situation. Terrible communication
Horrible experience with front desk.I work in Heath care and would never be rude to my patients. Only needed a sheet signed and dated. They wouldnt do it by fax. But only if I came with the the sheet. Once here they want me to come on a different day to pick up. I cant do that. I work too!! So sat and waited. After waited half hour asked and rude front desk girl gets an attitude and didnt even bother to open her glass tells me to sit and wait !!!Needless to say also signed my record release and will go ELSE WHERE !! No need to be disrespected!Very rude ... even on phone!!
I received a random bill for $40, when I contacted the office about what the discrepancy was, they said they would check it out and call me back to let me know about the problem. Checked my patient portal for months and noticed the bill had been removed. Figured the mistake had been fixed. Next thing you know I received a bill from a collections company. Very disappointed and highly unprofessional to not keep patients in the loop!!!! Definitely leaving this office for such practice.
So hard to get a hold of. If you have a UTI on a weekend good luck getting a call back. They wont call you in a script when youre in a bind either. Practically impossible to get a prescription refill even when you have pre-existing scripts. My APRN left the practice and now they wont continue any of the scripts she had given to me either. THE WORST!
They must have reshaped their reception team because I had a pleasant experience with the ladies up front when I went in early October 2018. Amanda, an RN there, is knowledgeable and friendly and answered all my questions satisfactorily. Just pay your bills on time and Im sure youll be fine.
If you are reading the reviews I would advise you to stay away from this practice! Not only that they are unprofessional and some of the staff are rude but they will definitely overcharge you or perform tests on you without your consent or knowledge then bill you for them later. Its very sad to say that this place does not care about anybodys health or well-being all they care about is money and they will do anything to get your money.
I saw Dr. Macomber for a yearly exam. She is the best Ob-Gyn I have seen in 40 years. I highly recommend her and the practice. The staff is wonderful, location is perfect in West Hartford and she has a fantastic personality! I have been with this practice since I was 25 yrs old, my Dr. retired, but Dr. Macomber is the best you will find in the Greater Htfd. area.
Awful service. Cares nothing about my woman issue acted annoyed when i stated my Symptoms . it has caused me tremendous pain and social isolation .. I was unfit to be arround people and they sent me back to work i ended up passing out several times. They fought me to get a FMLA and their reason is due to the fact others abused it they rarely gave it out. I almost lost my job due to my illness still fighting to keep it. Also i felt i was just discriminated against based off my skin and the fact i wasnt pregnant.. If my conditions didnt need surgery asap i would switch but i seriously need surgery but i cant believe its 2017 and a company that supposedly serve woman is so backward.. You need to educate your staff regarding customer care awful and spitefull.. I wouldnt call so much if i didnt have a medical issue
They are always super friendly. I had my appointment canceled once, but they gave me a week notice and immediately asked if I don’t mind seeing someone else or when the next best day is for me
Been coming here for 3 years now. Dr. Nelson is the greatest! It is a bit hard to get a hold of someone in the office but usually when I get someone they are helpful either way. Highly recommend Dr. Nelson or Dr. Macomber!
Customer service terrible. Called plenty of times and no return call back. Basically playing phone tag. If you need urgent appointments don’t even bother with them
Such a horrible Experience...The front office staff blindly follows company procedure.I have my Menstural cycle going on and the front office lady is saying We still need to check if you are pregnant. So that they can send the claim to the Insurance. They are so rude and the doctor I went to is just starting to practice medicine I guess.Always confused and thinks what to suggest. After going in for two years I am so disappointed that they simply want to make money from Insurance and doesnt care for Patients Wellbeing. Please contact some other better OBGYN instead of this.We as a patient come and ask for expert opinion,But in this clinc they will scare you and some things they dont use there brain. Its like giving a Pee Cup to a Pregnant lady and asking to check whether you are pregnant that dumb they are.Just by doing some medical billing course they get these jobs and dont have any experience on how to be nice to patients.Rude to the next level.
Ive been going to Dr. Trymulak for years. I have no bad things to say. There were times I had to go every three months. She got a head of the problem. I would recommend her to anyone of my friends. Actually I have. And the staff....nothing but charm and sweetness
Good luck getting an appointment or a call back!
I agree with the reviews with one star. Because I would like to give none of star if allowing me.
Great Drs ,awesome staff.
Staff and medical team are very attentive.
Best doctors and care for womens health
Will never go back
