Edit 9/6: I came twice for the same check-up around 8am. The nurse is nicer this time, and the appointment’s duration is definitely more manageable. I didn’t wait that long (my first time I waited for an hour and they were extremely short-staffed). I waited about 10-15 max for these follow-up appointments.Original 8/30:I’ve been waiting for an hour to get my bloodwork and ultrasound. I checked in online already. I wish I could go elsewhere but Shady Grove nurse insisted that I go to their clinic for these tests. I managed to avoid going here multiple times and get my blood tests elsewhere. Not at all happy here.
I had a disappointing experience with SGF during my egg freezing treatment for several key reasons:1) I had a high number of follicles (as I understand correlate to the number of eggs), but only 1/3 of the expected eggs were extracted. When I asked Dr. Reh about the low count, she mentioned a flushing procedure could be used next time. This left me wondering why this wasn’t done the first time? This is a very expensive procedure both financially and timewise. It felt like SGF were more interested in having me come back and spend more money rather than extracting the highest possible number of eggs.2) I experienced a serious HIPAA violation not once, but twice! My ex partner was sent my medical records, therefore I had to tell him I was undergoing this procedure. Second, I was sent another patient’s personal information (including her name, age, and treatment). When I reported it to the office manager, I was assured the legal team and IT department would look into whether my own information had been mistakenly shared. Its been 3 months, and I’ve received no follow-up, leaving me concerned about the clinics professionalism and data security.3) The clinic’s lack of communication was frustrating. They told me to buy a large quantity of medications, which led to me having $600 worth of unused drugs. This was just 1 of several instances.Given these issues, I will NOT be returning to SGF for any future treatments and recommend others avoid this clinic! The lack of transparency, communication, and care left me feeling more like a number than a patient.
Wife was recommended this clinic by her gynecologist and all seemed pretty decent at our initial visit. My wife had her tests done and due to my job of traveling, I received the “at home test kit” that I have to return within 2 hours of deposit. So once I had time, I brought my sample in, and to no surprise, was told I have to have an appointment. This was not disclosed during any point in our visits or when we got the supplies. I was surprised that we didn’t have to pay for another kit.As I suspected the sheet of paper given to us, said what we had to do this (no staff member explained this), just “follow the instructions”, no phone number, no email, nothing just call around for the soonest appointment (didn’t know I have to be their office manager).Oh but the experience doesn’t stop there, we had to go through an online course that forced us to take a test. I firmly believe the doctor should go through this considering that is what they are paid to do.We will not be finishing our fertility consultations or continuing with this specific company, especially when they force us to complete a survey after the online course. My wife had her practice fax over the lab work, and no surprise, they never received it. After multiple attempts she physically carried the lab work to the clinic and they still said they never received the lab work.Months of time wasted waiting for this, and the horror of completing and jumping these hoops just brought me back to the military life, I wish this clinic wasn’t so government ran.Don’t get me started on the condescending staff that work the phones as well
I recently had a mock transfer procedure at Shady Grove Fertility with Olivia Le, and I couldnt be happier with the experience. Olivias expertise and gentle approach made the procedure painless and comfortable. She took the time to explain each step and worked with me to ensure a pain-free experience. Her attention to detail and compassionate nature were truly remarkable. I highly recommend Olivia Lee for her professionalism and exceptional care.
Dr. Reh is an amazing physician to work with on your fertility journey. She is kind, patient, and takes the time to explain all options. Rather than pushing only one method, Dr. Reh really works collaboratively with her patients to understand which method is best to pursue based on a combination of the clinical data AND personal preference. I really appreciated her approach and I would recommend her to anyone seeking fertility services.
I had a wonderful experience with SGF in Arlington. I had appointments in DC, Rockville, Fairfax and Arlington and the Arlington office was very welcoming. The nurses were so friendly. I had a great experience with my doctor -Dr Reh. I had requested a change in physician after a not so great experience with another doctor out of DC. I was pleasantly surprised and honestly, everything fell into place once Dr. Reh became my doctor. I have a beautiful toddler and Im pregnant with a second child. Dr. Reh left me a voicemail wishing me luck on my two transfers and wanted to do my ultrasounds, which made me feel like I was important. I cant say enough.
The name “Shady Grove” couldn’t be more fitting, given the deceptive practices they engage in. We’ve been there over six times, and each visit has been a complete failure due to their ineffective procedures. Every single time, there was a massive discrepancy in the charges, which we had to dispute and resolve repeatedly. Beware before paying even a single cent to this place—this is a blatant case of medical billing fraud. This place has drained us over 8k in failed procedures. This place has zero care or knowledge of what to do.
Olivia was amazing! Every time we visit she always eases and mental/emotional discomfort we might have. She makes each procedure stress free
Doctor Reh was great. Very professional and advised us on the best route to take. The nurses were really nice as well. Contacting my nurse quickly was a little difficult because I had to send a message in the portal and wait. Parking can be tricky at this office as there is only street parking or paying to park in a garage. I ended up going to the Fairfax office more for appointments because of that. My only critique is that when my medication was prescribed I was over prescribed some of them so I ended up over paying for medication I didn’t need and then throwing thousands of dollars worth of medication away. I am pregnant from my first FET (9 weeks) so we are excited about that.
Infertility is already stressful and Shady Grove Arlington did great job in adding to this stress. Although the staff is extremely polite, this office is EXTREMELY disorganized. Ignorance is bliss, and if you do not ask the right questions, you will surely be left confused and left in the dust.During my process, I only spoke to my treatment coordinator once due to my own persistence (relentless multiple phone calls), only to find out that the coordinator was on vacation. Due to the negligence/care of the treatment coordinator, I was delayed starting treatment for 1 month. Which can feel like a lifetime for someone in my situation.Secondly, unbeknownst to me, I was never informed of important information regarding my treatment, including documented follow-up notes, next steps, prescriptions, and consent forms. Leaving myself and SG Care Team (Brittney) to scramble the day before my procedure. The offices excuse was that the coordinator is longer working with the company.Zero stars for now. This has been unnecessarily stressful.
Overall, I would not recommend Shady Grove Fertility for those looking for these services and would recommend going to a different fertility organization. And if you HAVE to go to Shady Grove, I would NOT recommend going to the Arlington Office. This process and my interactions with the Shady Grove Fertility - Arlington office initially started out well with hopes that the egg freezing process was going to go well, professional, and up to standard; unfortunately, those hopes were squashed very quickly. A few of the issues I ran into include: them not requesting all required lap work during my lap work visit resulting in more visits for testing and wasted money on doctor’s visit, very disorganized processes leading to last minute urgent requests for information, my treatment calendar instructions were not the same as I was told via update phone calls, very delayed appointment time due to over scheduling/over committing, needing to go to multiple offices (and given differing plans as to next steps), instructing me to take medications I didn’t have (leading to confusion), unhelpful staff members when encountering timing issues,By the time I went in for the egg retrieval procedure, I had lost all confidence and trust in the process. Then when signing the consent paperwork, I was uncomfortable with the line “taking photos for educational purposes” and they said, “oh that really doesn’t happen so you can cross it off, I don’t know why that’s still in there.” From the legal standpoint of signing paperwork that was very concerning. Finally, and most negatively impactful part of the entire process, during the follow up phone call with my doctor that I requested for more information about what happened so I know for the future, she noted the changes she would make to the protocol used, including using a different trigger and starting a more aggressive medicine regime. For a person starting the egg freezing process at one of the top NYC clinics with the same starting lab results as me, they start with a high dosage medicine and the other trigger in their INITIAL protocol. I feel like I was robbed of the opportunity to do this process right the first time.
My experience at the Ballston location was amazing. The front desk staff were nice, responsive, and prompt. My nurse, Chantel, was also amazingly responsive and helpful especially when it came to seemingly weird, one-off questions. The limited interactions we had with Dr. Reh were fine. My fertility case was very straightforward and did not require a lot of attention outside of the nurses and nurse practitioners. That being said. If I had a question that had to go to Dr. Reh specifically, I received a very prompt and specific response. I did not feel slighted in any way, I just didnt need constant interaction with Dr. Reh and I was absolutely fine with that. The experience I had at the Fairfax location was very mixed, especially on the weekends. The phlebotomists were usually the B team. They usually had trouble finding my vein and I frequently had bruises while the Ballston location never missed and had a much better bedside manner. I didnt like having a different phlebotomist and nurse practitioner every single time I visited for a monitoring appointment in Fairfax. They didnt know me and almost every visit was awkward. All of this being said, SGF is a fertility mill, and it works. They are efficient, direct, clear, and helpful. After checking out a few other clinics in the area, Id go back to SGF every time. Their customer service focused approach is a dream compared to some other interactions Ive had. I highly recommend. My husband and I are 5 months pregnant thanks to SGF.
While the staff is nice and friendly. I would not recommend coming here. I always received contradicting information from the nurses and staff, one telling me something and the other saying something completely different. Secondly, I had a horrible time with insurance coverage (something I NEVER had an issue with at other fertility clinics such as CCRM). If you can, go to CCRM instead of here.... it is worth the wait. They are a lot better and more organized.
Poor customer service. Poor communication wjth wasted driving and appointments. Profits over common sense medical care with things such as requiring genetic counseling that has already been done. Zero callback and zero desire to make the process less stressful or timely. They stated that we have no other choice due to it being through tricare. Complete malpractice treatment of the military community and have only made our stress levels during a limited window of shore duty even worse.
I wanted to take a moment to share my experience from my appointment today with Dr. Anitha Nair. I must be honest and say that I was left feeling disappointed by the encounter.During the appointment, I found Dr. Nairs bedside manner to be lacking, especially considering the sensitive nature of the topic we were discussing. I felt that she exhibited impatience and frustration, particularly when I was unable to provide immediate answers or needed time to gather my thoughts regarding my medical history. Her computer was not working to provide my medical information, and I felt she was a bit rude when asking me questions and also when Id ask questions...I didnt feel supported or reassured when I asked questions. Instead, I sensed a dismissive attitude that made me hesitant to seek clarification or express concerns.
Dr. Reh and her team made sure that I am well-informed about my treatment plan. I would also like to commend my nurses Lana and Carolyn who are always so responsive to my questions. Dr. Reh is very knowledgeable, compassionate, caring and takes her time to call you to before procedures, to wish you good luck and to report results, whether it be good or bad. I had a pleasant time as an SGF patient and if I decide to do it all over again, I wouldnt have second thoughts choosing them.
I will say I’ve had a great experience in-office. The front staff know me by name and are extremely knowledgeable, very inviting, helpful and keep the place running. But what has been extremely frustrating is getting called my results 2 minutes before closing and being unable to schedule an appointment. More inconveniencing, is its my first time doing IUI. Telling me to schedule an appointment for my procedure, which lands on a day they are closed. No outreach from my Dr. I seen her in total of 3 times in 7 months. First time being the consultation. I called the weekend number with no success, corporate hotline, and emergency number. I paid $2k to not be able to even have my procedure on time and its extremely frustrating having to chase down people to make urgent appointments.
I had a great experience at Shady Grove Fertility in Arlington. I used them for an IVF cycle. All of the doctors that I saw there were very helpful and kind. The nurses were always so quick to answer my questions through the portal, and the front desk staff was friendly, and knew who I was. Its a very convenient location right by the Ballston metro stop. I would definitely recommend, and I plan on using them again!
The entire team at SGF was wonderful to work with. I had the absolute privilege of seeing Dr. Andrea Reh for my treatment. Dr. Reh knew exactly what I needed to achieve my goals. She guided me through the IVF process with grace and empathy. Because of her, I have a beautiful daughter. I was always be grateful to Dr. Reh and her team.
The team at this location is nothing short of exceptional. From the front desk to the nurse practitioner, everyone was always pleasant. I’ve had a successful pregnancy with Shady Grove via IUI on the first try on 2020 .I was so thrilled that i decided to return for baby number 2. I was a bit weary because I was only familiar with the Rockville office but this location worked better for me this time around .Serena and Ashley always did there best to get me to work on time . They were efficient and I always felt like they genuinely loved there job . The nurse practitioner Tammy was my favorite!! She was a breath of fresh air .She was so hopeful , when i lost all hope . She was also knowledgeable and friendly. Upon confirming my pregnancy everyone was genuinely happy. Overall this second experience was perfect !
The IVF journey is frustrating, challenging and emotional. I have waited three weeks to allow time to reflect and share my personal experience with SGF as a patient. Overall the experience was not very positive due to how things were communicated, limited access to my physician and certain standards of communication. The positives first: my sonographer, Latrice was amazing. She took the time to learn my cycle as we went two rounds together. The amazing and musically joyful crew who constantly kept me smiling and jamming as they drew early morning blood.Beyond that, I wish I would have done better research in my choice selection. The website boasts “individualized approach” my engagement with SGF was attuned to a fast-food chain. The interactions rushed, cookie cutter updates, like going to McDonalds but receiving a bill for a five star wagyu steak dinner. If you are looking for one-on one attention, look somewhere else. All the doctors are on a rotation, and it is rare you will speak or even see them at appointments. Unless as I was informed, I change what is best for me to what was on the schedule for my doctor (Dr. Nair). On the rare occasions Dr. Nair had to change her schedule to meet mine. It was often met with disdain and the unnecessary sharing of “how busy she was, or how she’s making so many adjustments just for me”. This was a theme I heard multiple times from her and her nursing staff. My advice to SGF is to hire more people; clearly you aren’t short of income. As a “self-pay” patient who’s insurance didn’t cover IVF to be told constantly how busy everyone is or how I should be grateful for Dr. Nair’s time was very disappointing and counter to the “individualized approach” advertised. In no situation is anyone’s time more important than anyone elses. The unsatisfactory communication happened during both of my processes. I had to constantly ask for updates, challenge why we weren’t taking a more aggressive course and even get my mom involved to combat frustration or repeating myself and still getting the same behavior from staff. If you’re a gluten for punishment and decide to go to SGF don’t get shamed into feeling like you can’t ask questions or question a recommended path. (especially if you’re multiple rounds in). This is a multi-million-dollar industry where the hospital, doctors and pharmaceutical companies always win. Make sure you hold people accountable and are in the right place, with the right team to increase your chances of a wining hand.
Dr. Malik was so wonderful to work with during our experience with SGF, I cant recommend her highly enough. Dr. Malik was recommended to us by my oncologist.During such an emotional journey such as fertility treatment & prior to that, cancer, Dr. Malik is the type of doctor you want to work with - shes kind, compassionate, genuine, and patient. She did a wonderful job explaining the facts, statistics, and processes in a way that was straightforward but didnt make you feel hopeless. Dr. Malik also cares just as much about your medical care as she does about your emotional well-being. There were several times where I received calls from her DIRECTLY to talk about lab results and next steps. She listened to our concerns & thoughts and came up with a specialized plan just for us to maximize our chances based on our specific situation. Most doctors nowadays wouldnt even take the time. After 3 failed IUIs, 3 failed IVF cycles, two of which were canceled due to poor response, we are finally pregnant! Dr. Malik PERSONALLY called to tell us the news and she was equally as elated as we were. While the news itself was awesome, the pure genuineness Dr. Malik displayed was so wonderfully heartwarming because it showed just how much she cared and was invested in our success.I highly recommend Dr. Malik for your fertility journey!
I had a wonderful experience with Dr. Shruti Malik and my nurse, Ashley. After several prior failed attempts to conceive, including through a prior round of IVF at a different clinic, I was able to conceive twins on my first frozen embryo transfer attempt with Dr. Malik. Both Dr. Malik and Ashley were highly attentive, regularly checking in with me and taking the time to address each of my concerns, and it was clear how much they cared. I also much appreciated Dr. Maliks deep expertise on fertility issues. I am very excited about the twins, and words cannot express my gratitude for Dr. Malik, Ashley, and the SGF team.
I love this office and all of its staff members. It’s calm and inviting with a comfortable waiting area. Every encounter that I’ve had has been a positive one. Phone calls are returned quickly and the nurses and doctors are very responsive. Ashely (RN) and Dr. Malik are incredible and quick to respond to any questions that I may have regarding my treatment plan. Highly recommend SGF Arlington!
Patient portal emails are not returned in a timely manner. The communication between departments is poor. I have invested 3 years with the company and I feel like I must stay because of the amount of money I have spent. I do not recommend this company to people who struggle with fertility.
Dr. Malik and Nurse Lana were the absolute best team and we could not have received better care. All of our concerns/questions were addressed and Dr. Malik made us feel confident as we took each step in our fertility journey. In addition, Nurse Lana was always there to provide clarity and encouragement. This process is stressful, but we are so pleased with the level of care and compassion shown to us. I trusted Shady Grove Arlington to help us along this difficult journey and feel as though we were blessed to have Dr. Malik and Nurse Lana on our case. 10/10 to them.
The financial counselor Holly takes forever to reply your messages on the portal . When you give her a call she never answers the phone then I proceed to leave her a voicemail message which she would never give you the courtesy of calling back, I must confess it is quite exhausting.
It would be fair to update my review. After writing my initial review based on how difficult or impossible is get a chance to speak with a representative..... Meanwhile did receive an apologetic call for the delay and I believe we moved on scheduling an appointment. My appointment is for March now because had to cancel my initial one due to an emergency.I’ll be back in a month after my first appointment.Thank you 😊Oh, I will give 4 🌟🌟🌟🌟 (the lady who reached out she was very kind)One ⭐️ Scheduling appointment service is very poor. Here is an example: I’ve been trying to schedule an appointment two weeks now. I’ve left voicemails no one has returned so I decided since my apartment complex is nearby, to go in person and schedule an appointment. The lady at the front desk very polite- she kept my name and number- Haven’t heard back from them. It’s been 3 days now.
Dr. Reh and our nurse Ashley were wonderful, and we were lucky to have a fairly smooth road. As truly happy and grateful as we are to have found success, the financial office side with Grace has been absolutely horrendous and put an added stress on us that no one wants in this already stressful time. Emails go ignored, phones are never answered and voicemails not returned. There were additional phone numbers given to us for the billing representative but those lines also were never answered and the voicemails never returned. When we go through this process again for the next baby we will be choosing a different office - not worth the added stress from this financial counselor.
Shady Grover fertility was such a great experience for my wife and I. Everyone was so caring and kind and knowledgeable. My wife and I were able to successfully get pregnant on our first try and while that may have been luck or good fortune, the staff at shady grove did such a good job of making sure we would be supported and comforted regardless of the outcome. They also do a very good job of making sure that we are fully aware of our cost and our options so that we were prepared for first, next and future steps. We went through the process during Covid-19 and although it was scary at times, the clinic did a great job of keeping up safety protocols and making sure we felt safe. They also did an amazing job of making sure my wife was included and involved via FaceTime and phone calls even tho she was not able to attend the appointments in person. I would 100% reccommend shady grove to all couples trying to get pregnant. All the testing and check ins and checks ups are crucial to a healthy pregnancy as well as piece of mine.
This applies to all locations of this facility but i choose this as i visited this location. When we call them to make an appointment, they said they accept all insurances and said some Financial consultant would call me and explain further details about Insurance coverage, Total costs for the procedures etc. But until the day of our appointment none called us and we went for appointment. After waiting for an hour finally they said that we need to go through some standard tests for few months and somehow we felt that was some sort of cumbersome process and decided not to proceed with that route for pregnancy. But suddenly one day we got a bill to our home which they said we have to pay for our visit even after we paid copay, we understood that and paid. After 3 months again they sent huge bill saying we have to pay that for same visit and this is remaining from what i paid initially. No use of talking to them, they only need money and we end up paying what they charged and cleaned the mess happened due to this visit. My sincere advice to everyone is first talk to the so called Financial consultant (Shady Grove Financial team) and then only go for visit, else you will end up pay lot of money with no reason.
Dr. Reh helped my wife and I through an unexpectedly challenging pregnancy journey over the past two years, involving four IUI attempts, two miscarriages, two IVF egg retrievals with PGTA testing, and one successful embryo transfer. The entire team at SGF in Arlington (especially) and Fairfax and Rockville (during specific procedures and weekend hours) were truly remarkable! At each step in our journey, Dr. Reh demonstrated a lot of thought, care, and compassion for our experience. She answered all of my questions and helped us feel truly supported at every stage. Her sincere joy over our successful pregnancy was so touching and were just so grateful to her, our nurse Cait, Heather and Anne, Steve, and all the front desk and support staff. When you finally graduate from SGF, its actually bittersweet because youre thrilled to have a healthy pregnancy, but you also want to keep celebrating each milestone with the folks who helped make your dream a reality. Thank you!
Olivia & Ambrielle went above and beyond to help me on a hard day. Also the location was flexible with changes in schedule, very helpful
This is a review for their communications on costs, so not necessarily specific to the Arlington location. I find that the company really puts shady in shady grove when it comes to informing you about costs. I was told in the beginning that a financial consultant would contact me, and no one ever did after starting treatment for more than a month. I had a child with a different facility before, and didnt pay anything, so i assumed that this time would be the same. I was pressured by Shady Grove into taking a lot of tests and drugs that I didnt have the first time I got pregnant. I was never informed of any costs ahead of time. At the end of the month, i got slammed with hundreds of dollars in bills, and the major part of the bill was from the HSG I challenged twice about. I didnt want to do that test and told them i didnt do it before but was able to get pregnant, but they still pressured me to do it. not only that, they kept on being confused about whether I can take the HSG test, and it wasted a lot of my time driving to the facility. I would recommend going to GW instead. The facility isnt as nice, but I get better information and feel like i had more control.
The staff at Shady Grove, Arlington was very helpful and caring. Special shoutout to Nurse Ashley and Dr. Reh! I was explained about the complete procedure and they made sure I’m feeling better after every visit. They are very professional and ambience is good. I highly recommend this center. Thanks!
Hit or miss in hospitality I am so fortunate that to have an awesome nurse for my monitoring. The doctors on the other hand. My goodness. I go there for satillite monitoring. I would do business with them if the hospitality and compassion were more prominent than …. Won’t say the words.
I’m so grateful with all team at sgf especially with Dr Andrea Reh I will always be grateful with her and the nurse !!
I cannot say enough great things about Dr Reh and her entire team. I would highly recommend to anybody struggling with infertility issues
All the staff are wonderful except the intake person at the front desk. She is very unfriendly and doesnt show concern for the patient.
Would give zero if I could, horrible practice that I do not recommend. Tell you one thing and then when you are ready for help they deny you. Go somewhere else.
No one picks up the phone if they do puts you on hold for hours and hangs up the phone.
Made an appointment for a test drop off. Waited for 40 minutes in the waiting room. All I was doing was dropping off. Ridiculous
Cassandra and others very very accommodating !!! Thanks
Very professional and nice atmosphere.
The staff is amazing.
Very grateful to Doctor Malik and our nurse Ashley Westin, they are two extremely kind people and willing to help at all times.
Grateful to Dr. Malik and nurse Ashly Westin for all the help, they are angels, my husband and I could not be more grateful.
