In terms of routine prenatal visits, I highly recommend Desiree Neumann. She went beyond treating me as a patient and genuinely seemed like more of a friend. She was there when I found out the news I was pregnant in the office and was so supportive. She was the last practitioner that I saw before going into labor and after a frustrating time with another doctor in the office, she was so supportive and even tried her best to move up my induction. She listened to everything I had to say and was so encouraging, I was so happy to finally feel heard. When it came to labor, From starting with Dr Taylor to transferring to Dr Owen’s for delivery who was the most encouraging support person after an exhausting 24 hour labor. She had the best attitude and was so excited yet so encouraging and lit a fire in me to continue through delivery. Not to mention the BEST birth team that always advocated for me, especially my nurse Olivia, and the sweet charge nurse that stood with me through the epidural so I didn’t have to do it alone. My heart is forever tied to this place ❤️
Jefferson OB is wonderful! They delivered all my children, from 1995, 2004, 2006. I still go to them for all my yearly check ups. All of the Doctors and Nurses are phenomenal! Highly recommend.
I cannot sing the praises of this office enough. The care to details is what blew me away. I had an IUD that was penetrating through my uterus and needed to be surgically removed (this office did not place this iud). From the office ladies who helped schedule my appointment, to Michelle who helped set up the surgery, to the ultrasound tech, to Dr. Keng who performed it; I felt so cared for and listened to. Dr. Keng was absolutely awesome. My husband and I were both impressed with her communication and understanding. She really made me feel more than just a patient but someone she cared a lot about. I was very nervous about this procedure as I had never had surgery before. My last memory before going to sleep was her standing next to me, talking to me to help me stay calm. I am thankful that she was able to do the procedure in a way that was easier on me than we originally thought and even more thankful for her patience and determination to get the iud out.
I started going to this office when I found out I was pregnant. At first, everything was wonderful - all staff was very nice and accommodating, overall positive experiences with all doctors. I would like to highlight Dr. Moon as she was the one working when I went in to get induced. She was so sweet, calm, and compassionate through my labor process, which was a difficult one due to anesthesia problems. Ended up having a C-Section after hours of pain. When Dr. Moon recommended a C-Section, she saw how nervous I was and offered to give me a minute to really gather my thoughts and make the best decision for me and my baby. I can’t thank her enough for being so kind during the entire process. During our 6 week postpartum follow up, she really took her time listening to me and made me feel heard and cared for. The low star review has nothing to do with her as she’s one of the best doctors I’ve ever encountered. The bad part is their billing department. It is absolutely ATROCIOUS. When I first started prenatal care, they sent me a letter in the mail with an estimate of how much all my care would cost, including delivery. Every time I went into the office, they would ask if I wanted to pay my balance (which was really paying ahead for services that have yet to be performed). I thought it was strange, but paid it to limit the amount of stress on my end.Somehow, every time I paid said balance, the next time I showed up there would be another $100+ on my account. I called and left voicemails, and got no return. After paying HUNDREDS more than my letter had said, I finally said I needed to speak to a billing person before paying any more. The billing person quickly called me following my appointment to explain. Long explanations that didn’t really make sense, but I was assured that was it and there would be no more payments.Fast forward to almost 6 months after my son’s birth, I’m looking at two statements that were printed on the same date, with two different balances - one for $450 and one for $300 and some change. HOW? And I’m “in network”? I’ve never paid THOUSANDS to an office before (between last year and this year). So here I am, leaving messages to their billing person, AGAIN.Great doctors at this practice that are going to end up losing patients due to incompetent and questionable billing.**Edit: Courtney from billing called me. She was very kind and apologetic. She caught on that I prepaid my prenatal/delivery coinsurance and that it had not been applied to my balance. She is correcting that and I will be receiving a credit. As far as the two separate bills, $450 was for my sons circumcision at the hospital - but no insurance was applied. Shes working on filing that now. Adding 2 stars due to her willingness to work on this and get it sorted out.
I just left the upstairs office at Jefferson OBGYN for my 6 week postpartum check up. I have been going to this OBGYN for almost 4 years now and all of the doctors and nurses have been so amazing and friendly. However, the lady at the front desk upstairs (the older African American lady) had asked me if I wanted to make a payment on the balance and I replied Ill make a payment online because theres a lot of adjustments that still need made and I am working with the billing department on this. She immediately gave me the nastiest look and said Take a seat in a not so nice manner. I find it very unprofessional this is how she is approaching patients who are choosing not to make a payment right then and there and she needs to find another place of employment that doesnt require interacting with people.
I had excellent prenatal care and a great delivery experience. I found all the doctors and nurses to be professional, knowledgeable and friendly. I felt safe and cared for with this practice and continue.
I am an older patient and I am always treated with respect and care at Jefferson OBGYN. Dr. Kilfoil is so kind, knowledgeable and caring. Everytime I visit with her I leave feeling at peace and knowing that I am receiving the best care possible. I am so grateful that I found her!
Sadly I have several complaints about this office, all of my prenatal appointments went so smoothly, no concerns nor insurance issues. I delivered my son in November of 2022, soon after the issues started. Ended up needing to have TWO D&C procedures to remove the remainder of my sons placenta that was not removed after delivery. One in February and one in March… they are lucky I didn’t go septic and die /or hemorrhage again. I won’t go into excessive detail but I was not the only patient who this had happened to, I know of 3 other women who delivered within a few months proximity and had the same issue after birth (not the same dr who delivered me). Then came the issues with insurance, a constant battle dealing with them and my insurance company and now 16 months later I look and low and behold my claim for my first D&C was re ran for March of 2024?!? AFTER we had settled on what I had owed them. I am currently making payments to an agency because things took too long and I refused to pay until insurance was ran correctly ESPECIALLY since they had to go back a second time to get the rest of it because they didn’t get it all during the first procedure! Which I find to be malpractice..I shouldn’t have to pay for a second because the job wasn’t done correctly in the first place! Quite frankly it should have been taken care of after my delivery when it was mentioned that I may have retained product hence why my bleeding wouldn’t slow down… I am sad how all of this turned out it really ruined my maternity leave having to deal with that issue now I have a heap of debt from lack of proper practice.
Impressed by this office. All staff, Nurses and OBs have been very professional and caring. Appointments haven’t been a long wait, and the nurses line has been very helpful with call backs and information.
Dr Kraus, April 2024 annual check up, he was wonderful, professional and listened well to questions. I would definitely recommend him. I have been a patient of JOBGYN for over 35 years. I also travel 2 hours to get to this office.
Absolutely love Jeff OB! Dr.Owens delivered our first baby girl in 2022 and she made it such a great experience for me. She is so sweet, comforting, and reassuring. I saw her the entire time for my second pregnancy and was hoping she would be the one to deliver our second baby girl. She happened to be the doctor on call the day I went into labor a few days ago and I am SO thankful to have had her for the delivery of both my girls! She is amazing at her job!
Very disappointed. This clinic was recommended Fromm a physician friend. Requested insurance verification prior to appointment and they said they accepted. Showed up to the appointment and then told me I would be self-pay.I checked with my insurance online and via phone and my insurance is accepted by all the physicians at Jefferson Ob/Gyn, Poor professionalism and service, disregard for patients wellbeing.
I just had a first appt in this office because it is in Sentara Network. I scheduled an annual GYN preventive care appt, it was quick, I had pelvic exam and pap test, and was ordered by mammogram. I requested estradiol and FSH tests because I became postmenopausal and was recently diagnosed with osteoporosis. A month later I received a bill showing I have to pay out of pocket for the lab tests. I had same lab tests two years ago at UVA for annual GYM exam and they were all covered. I contacted my insurance, the claim was sent for re-processing after I explained this lab tests were for annual GYN exam. I awaited for almost three months, I was finally told that the claim was still denied because the provider didnt submit preventive diagnosis code. I called the office and requested the office to send correct preventive diagnosis codes for these two tests. I told them I had these same tests at UVA at the annual GYN appt and they were covered. The rep stated she would pass the message to the doctor. Two days later I got a call from the office and was informed that the diagnosis codes used were correct, they were not going to change them.Another thing I felt unhappy about this office, the provider was saying I did have post menopausal change and she could order estrogen cream for me. After I got the lab test result indicating my estrogen level was extremely low, I called the office and requested estrogen cream that she recommended. I was told that I need to schedule another appt for the prescription.Due to the above experience, I am not going back to this office again.
Jefferson Ob/Gyn has some phenomenal doctors! I had to deliver a month early. Dr.Kraus and Dr. Taylor both were amazing in determining the best plan of care for the safety of myself and my sweet boy. I felt extremely confident in Dr. Kraus’ decision. Dr. Taylor delivered our sweet boy, and throughout the whole process I felt extremely comfortable with her. Between delivering and in-office visits We absolutely adore her! She has a great personality and is very easy to talk to! You can tell she truly cares and loves what she does. Thank you Dr. Taylor and Dr. Kraus!
So far in my journey having a hysterectomy robotically has been great!! Dr Culver and Dr Kraus has been incredible!!! I was a patient of Dr Culver in 2014 when I had a miscarriage…. Dr Culver listened to my opinion so closely and didn’t question my choice!!! He moved me over to Dr Kraus who has been a heaven sent angel to me!!! I will undergo my surgery Friday!!! He truly cares!! I would recommend this practice to anyone including my daughter in law who is expecting in February !!!!
I have been a patient at Jefferson OB since I was a teenager seeing mainly Sue and she’s amazing! When I became pregnant with my daughter I was a nervous wreck and did not know what to expect with the experience of delivery whatsoever. I had the most amazing experience delivering with Dr Taylor. She has amazing bedside manners and made me feel so comfortable during the entire experience. Being a pregnant momma of baby #2 I hope and pray that I get to deliver with Dr Taylor again because the experience was phenomenal! Thank you guys for being so great!
Extremely disappointing experience! The lack of professionalism, empathy, and good judgement was evident from the moment we interacted with this practice. In particular the office manager who did not even have the courtesy to apologize for the poor advice provided by their incompetent nurse, but instead was more concerned and annoyed that family members actually stepped in to advocate for their first time pregnant family member. Zero compassion, and zero admittance of wrong doing. If Dr Kraus can have such an incompetent office manager and a nurse who doesnt not value the health of their patients and dismisses their concern, so that the patient ended end up in the ER, than what does that say for his ability to make the right decisions for the patient?! Their response to what happened only proves that one should not expect this practice to ever own up to their mistakes or to do the right thing. Ultimately, the buck stops at the doctors feet and I blame the doctor for the staffs incompetence, poor judgment and lack of patient care.In light of this experience, we have moved on to another practice. Patient beware!
Ive been a patient at Jefferson Ob/Gyn for over 25 years, and for most of those years I was very happy & satisfied with the care I received; however, after the last couple years, and especially after my most recent appointment last month, I will not be going back. It couldnt have been more obvious that patients like me (Medicare, age 65+) are not a priority there and are in fact not really welcome. After I was taken to the examination room and before the doctor came in, a woman came in and asked me to sign a form stating that I would be responsible for any costs not covered by Medicare. This kind of thing should be done at the front desk, in my opinion, and not in the examination room when Im getting ready to undress for my appointment, so I was a bit shocked by it. When my doctor came in, he began by asking me routine questions, the answers to which are all in my file and have been in my file for over 25 years. I understand that he sees lots of patients and cant be expected to remember them all, even the long-term ones like me, but it would be nice for a doctor to take a moment, even on a busy day, to check the patient file before entering and at least *pretend* to remember who I am. Weve had minutes-long, interesting conversations in the past about the very questions I was being asked. At one point on this visit, as I lay on the examination table and was responding to and elaborating on a question about medications I currently take, I glanced over and saw that my doctor wasnt even listening to my response but was instead whispering something to the nurse who was in the room. I immediately stopped talking, expecting him at some point to tell me to go on, but he never did. During the entire visit, I felt that his eyes glazed over if I strayed from the scripted questions at all. This was not the case years ago when I first started going to this practice. I think its probably still a great place for women of childbearing age or women who are pregnant, but it has quite simply become too big and too much of a baby factory for me. At my age, I no longer need to see a specialist for my yearly pelvic exams, and theres no need for me to continue to put myself through a process that makes me feel invisible and unwelcome, so I wont be going back. As an aside, I will say, too, that the office has a strange way of billing Medicare patients who are supposedly covered for a yearly exam. The billing code they enter results in a very confusing $125+ charge for an office visit that Medicare will not cover, even though said office visit is defined by the practice as simply the few minutes the doctor spends talking to the patient as he/she examines them. This does not happen to friends of mine, also on Medicare, who visit other practices, and the agent we talked to with our secondary insurance provider thought it was unusual. (Im not naming my doctor in this review out of respect for the years of good care he gave me, and because I believe his recent shortcomings are more a result of the machine-like state of medical care in general and this practice in particular than of any deficiencies attributable to him.)
I’ve been really thinking about not giving a bad review for quite some time, simply because I like this place, but here I am.All my appointments with Dr Arnold, Kraus and Moon have been great, can’t say the say about my first and LAST appt(because I refuse to go back with her) with Dr Keng. I had to wait more than half an hour after my scheduled appt to see her. After listening to baby’s heartbeat, Dr Keng exits the room leaving me with my belly covered on gel, door wide open, didn’t even give me a tissue to clean myself up, I had to go around the room looking for something to clean up with. She left the room to talk to somebody else in the hallway and didn’t go back to us, basically rushing us to leave. I’m guessing we were the last appointment of the day, but this is not a valid reason to treat her patients that way, my husband had to tell her on our way out, that I had questions, I couldn’t even have some privacy to ask anything without having to talk to her in the hallway in front of other people present. Not to mention the way she answered to all my questions.Whenever I schedule my appts I ask for somebody else but her. Hopefully by my due date I get to deliver my baby with one of the doctors I first mentioned.
My first pregnancy we decided to switch to Jefferson Ob from a different provider around 12 weeks. My husband and I have been so pleased we made the switch and never looked back! They have a wonderful calm and caring environment and the staff is great. Every provider is professional, knowledgeable, and caring. They take the time to answer questions and address any concerns while hearing and respecting your wishes. While I have been happy with all providers, a very special shout out to Dr. Arnold! He is absolutely wonderful and delivered both my babies. My first delivery in 2019 was rather scary and Dr. Arnold calmly communicated what was going on, what needed to happen, asked if that was okay with me, and safely delivered my son. He was the reassuring calm that was needed in the stressful situation. My second delivery this month went smoothly and Dr. Arnold made it so enjoyable and memorable. I could not recommend this practice enough. Highly recommend them!!
I’m expecting my first child in October of this year, so naturally I had no idea what to expect with an OBGYN but I’m so grateful for the providers here. Dr Kilfoil has been my reoccurring OB(which has spoiled me greatly) and I’ve seen Dr Owens once. Both of them were truly made for this profession. Their warm bed side manner and answering all my questions, throughly not rushed, and their excitement for a new Mom never seems to dim even though they see hundreds of patients, they always greet me with excitement and joy to talk individually about my pregnancy. Our sonographer Amerisa, was nothing short of incredible. I cannot say enough wonderful things about our experience with her. We are grateful for our team here at Jefferson OB. 💗
There are not enough words to express how much I love this practice! From the beginning, I received such personalized care from each provider. I give extra special kudos to Dr. Kilfoil for walking me through the labor/delivery process from the patient perspective and not as a nurse. I am beyond blessed to have had her deliver my first child in August 2023 and saving my life! She is comforting and supportive, and during the time of an emergency she was calm and reassuring. She is a rockstar!
I have been going to Jefferson OBGYN since I was a teenager and have always had great experiences, mainly with Sue. Naturally, when I became pregnant I was nervous as this is my first child. While being pregnant, I was rotated through the physicians and clicked with a few but ultimately felt the most secure and comfortable and just felt like I was listened to and taken seriously with Dr. Taylor and Dr. Culver. I was induced at 39 weeks and chose a day where Dr. Taylor and Dr. Culver would be on call so I could be the most comfortable. I was determined to have my baby when Dr. Taylor was the doctor on. Again she was the absolute best for me and made me super comfortable. Dr. Taylor delivered my baby just a few minutes before going off and Dr. Culver coming on. During my labor Dr. Taylor checked on me frequently, listened to all my concerns, and helped me with my anxiety and nervousness. She truly made my experience one I’ll never forget. Although, I had some pretty great nurses during my labor and delivery Dr. Taylor is my go to.
Dr. Culver delivered our baby girl in 2017. Prior to that the only labor and delivery experience I had was watching my sister deliver my 5 nieces and nephews in Fredericksburg. With all of her deliveries the Dr literally walked in at the last second, caught the baby, then immediately left. I was so surprised when I delivered that Dr. Culver came in our room well before baby made her arrival and was not in a rush to leave after. We felt very well cared for! Thank you to Dr. Culver and the team at MJH!!
I was a little hesitant at first to make an appointment here for my annual exam because the office and reviews seemed so baby centric. I saw Dr. Emily Huffstetler and she was fantastic. Great bedside manner and was phenomenal even though kids arent in my plan. Dont hesitate to make an appointment, they cater to everyone even if you dont need OB care. The office was professional and I would recommend them.
I’ve seen Dr. Keng, Dr. Huffstetler and Dr. Taylor so far for my prenatal appointments and have a fantastic experience every time. I was nervous about having different providers because in my previous pregnancy I had the same OB every time, but it has been great. They are all fully aware of my care plan and status despite not having seen me on prior appointments and I feel totally taken care of. The front desk staff and medical assistants have also been wonderful and helpful. I would absolutely recommend Jefferson OB to anyone.
I have privileged to be under care at Jeff OGBYN for years for my gynecological care as a patient of Dr. Wamhoff. Her care has, in no uncertain terms, improved my health and my life drastically. She listens and sees her patients in ways that I have not experienced elsewhere and I am so thankful that she took the time to see me. I am still a patient but now being seen for obstetric care for my first pregnancy and the entire office staff including front desk staff, nurses, ultrasound techs and the other wonderful doctors Ive had the opportunity to meet along the way have continued to demonstrate the outstanding care given at Jefferson. I am truly confident going into the birth of my child that I will receive outstanding care and that whatever happens along the way will be ok. I am so thankful to have found Jefferson and highly recommend the practice to anyone looking to be cared for in the Charlottesville area.
Jefferson OB/GYN is an amazing practice. From the time I walked through the door for an ultrasound for our daughter, our first born, to her delivery with Dr. Culver, to then finding out we were pregnant with twins for our second pregnancy and then to their delivery with also, Dr. Culver, the doctors and nurses were NOTHING but amazing. With our daughter, things went very smoothly despite some platelet difficulties, I was still able to have a vaginal delivery. With our twins, I was hoping for the same but things were worse with platelets and we had to make the decision of a general anesthesia Cesarean . Because this was not our original plan, I was very nervous, but Dr. Culver and everyone on board, was very comforting in helping me understand that this was the best option for me, and the babies. I appreciate all of their love and support through this process and I am so thankful to have them. We will definitely continue using them for future needs!
I’ve always called my doctors/nurses from here ‘the dream team,’ especially in the delivery and recovery room! In a time when a lot of medical folks are understandably stressed, busy, and under so much pressure, I’ve never sensed a change in the thorough bedside manner, guidance, and prenatal care here (and I’ve cycled through almost every doctor on the team). My only gripe would be longer-than-normal wait times after the vital checks w/the nurse to when the doctor actually enters the room at appointments (can be hit or miss depending on the doctor; the longest I waited was 50 minutes, so just figure in some extra time if during the work day). With that said, I’ve never had anything less than outstanding, personable, quality one-on-one care with each doctor at all routine OBGYN, prenatal, delivery, and postpartum steps over the last 10 years I’ve been a patient. They take their time with you and make sure they don’t rush you/questions — this might be the reason for some longer wait times mentioned above(?). Highly recommend this practice to anyone that asks!
***long but REAL experience for expecting mamas***I believe they are professional and people have good experience with them. But girls, if you don’t want to call them everyday to follow up things and deal with careless and rude receptionist, you might want to turn around and find someone else to be your provider.I moved here and passed my second check up date so I was desperately to find a new provider to take me(first time mama here, and my husband is not around me due to his assignment). I called and they asked me to call the previous clinic to transfer my medical records, and then they will call me to set up an appointment once they got it. My previous clinic sent it through Fax which means it is delivered within a day.I called next day and the girl in the morning was super nice and told me the fax person hasn’t sorted out the fax so call again that afternoon. I followed her instruction and called again that afternoon, the girl (I think it’s a different one) was rude and just made me feel she didn’t care. I felt very stressed to deal with Jefferson. I didn’t call for a day and still hasn’t heard from them.So I called the next day thinking they had to have the record sorted by now. They did received my record but didn’t call me or informed me. I asked them if I can have an appointment now. She said my due date falls on the month they are fully booked for delivery. I told them my husband is in the military so we are actually not going to deliver our baby here. They still rejected me after all 🙄🙃 so I guess the due date wasn’t the problem to not take me 🥴After all of these terrible and stressful experience, I will not recommend anyone new in town or need to transfer from other clinic to Jefferson.I eventually go with UVA and THEY ARE ANGELS. They requested my medical record FOR ME instead of asked me to do it myself. They scheduled me with a nurse appointment and doctor appointment within a week when the girl heard that I already passed my second check up date.🥹 just feel so much different than Jefferson.Jefferson gives me a vibe that they know they are popular and famous for the area, so they are prideful and doesn’t care about you if you can’t let them earn enough money from you.Anyway, you deserve someone that actually cares🙌🏼 and if you decided to go with Jefferson, be ready to call them EVERY SINGLE FLIPING DAY! Good luck!
Thankful for office staffs get interpreter ASL because of myself as mother. All my 2 babies were delivered by the doctors at Jefferson ObGyn, specifically DRs Huffstetler and Kilfoil. The entire staff took great care of me during my pregnancies. I will come to next third pregnancy again in few years later. I love my dr is amazingly!
I can not RECOMMEND Jeff OB/GYN enough!!! I have delivered two babies (during COVID) with Jeff OB, once with Dr. Owens and once with Dr. Kilfoil. Both experiences were incredible, not only throughout the pregnancy but also postpartum.I suffered from postpartum depression/anxiety with after both of my babies were born, and the doctors at Jeff OB did not hesitate to get (and stay) on top of things. They checked in periodically to make sure I was doing okay and settling into my new role with ease.Seriously, when it comes to your care team during pregnancy and after you need people you can trust. I trust Jeff OB.
While I would recommend a few of the doctors for general care. I would not recommend them at all for OB care. I was made to feel uninformed and given contradictory information almost my entire first pregnancy. I was left questioning myself and the doctors at every turn. I felt like I was simply a number and not a person. This was made especially evident to me when I found out after giving birth my chart had me on bed rest for weeks before delivery. However not one doctor told me I was on bed rest and I continued to work until going into labor. I also had to fight the office staff following my sons birth over not properly filing his insurance I had provided them. There are far too many doctors for truly personal and consistent care during pregnancy.
I cannot say enough good things about Jefferson OB/Gyn! I have been a patient since 2015 and have experienced excellent care in both gynecology and obstetrics. In 2018, I had a routine pap come back abnormal. CNM Sue Woodson, who’s been my primary provider since 2015, was very caring and informative while discussing the next steps and the follow up procedure that was needed. She made me feel very comfortable and way less anxious. In fall 2020, I became pregnant with my first baby. I experienced wonderful and very personable prenatal care from all the providers I saw during my pregnancy. They all made me feel very comfortable and took time to listen to my concerns and answer all my questions. CMN Barbara Royston delivered our sweet boy in June 2021 and I cannot express how grateful I am for her enough. She made both me and my husband feel so comfortable and at ease during the whole delivery process. I would 100% recommend this groups of doctors, especially midwives Sue Woodson and Barbara Royston, to anyone seeking OB/Gyn care!
I have been a patient of this practice for 10 years. The group of doctors, nurses, ultrasound techs and office staff are simply amazing. I had insurance changes at last minute with my second child and as soon as I could get back to Jefferson Ob/Gyn I ran straight back when I was pregnant with my third. They have set the bar of care so high, I could not see myself going anywhere else. They are super supportive and there when you need them.
To be denied care over a 150$ balance on my acct after theyve already being paid thousands by my insurance Co doesnt make me feel like the patients best interestl is cared about. A 150$ balance I was unaware of and has apparently been sent into collections yet Ive received no calls or mail from either I called to schedule because Im having a serious medical problem. I was advised to go to the ER. So even after my balance is paid I dont plan to continue as a patient here. Sadly after 3 grandkids being delivered with them i Lost respectfor Jefferson OB today.Thank you for your response. I did contact the office when I desperately needed to be seen. I was transferred to the business office and told I couldnt schedule until my balance of 150 was paid. I explained that I was unaware I had a balance. I have no problem paying the balance however I was unable to pay it right then as I didnt get paid until the following week. I was then advised to go to the ER!
I have had 4 pregnancies with Jefferson Ob/Gyn - 2 c-sections, 1 miscarriage, and currently pregnant. Dr. Arnold has handled all of these cases and I am so thankful for him! His calm demeanor keeps me calm in scary moments, his gentle honesty helps you with understanding everything that is going on with your body and baby, and when he talks you can tell he genuinely cares about what is going on with you. Even my husband tells people about how great Dr. Arnold is! My concerns are never dismissed and my questions are always answered. I couldn’t imagine going to any other Ob/Gyn office after being at Jefferson.
I’ve had two babies delivered by Jefferson OB. While all the doctors are top notch, the two doctors I delivered with were Kilfoil and Arnold. Dr. Kilfoil is wonderful, caring, and brilliant. However, during my last pregnancy, I decided to go to as many appointments with Dr. Arnold as I could. He was always patient, reassuring, and made me feel like I was in good hands. When the day came, I was so grateful to have Dr. Arnold as my doctor. I felt like I not only had a competent doctor in my corner, but I also had a friend who was watching out for me. He made a scary previous emergency with my first born turn into a beautiful, healing experience with my second. Thank you Dr. Arnold, for your expertise and for being the exact doctor that I needed when I needed it.
If youre looking for kind and compassionate care, look no further! Dr. Owens and Dr. Huffstetler are the best you can find for OBGYN care! Dr. Owens, oversaw my pregnancy and Dr. Huffstetler did my delivered on 7/11! I am surrogate that carried another couples beautiful little girl! Both doctors were completely understanding and demonstrated fantastic communication skills between themselves, me, and the intended parents! In a pregnancy with so many different components, they remained attentive and involved through the entire process! This little girl is healthy and right where she is supposed to be thanks to the doctors and nurses at Jefferson OB/GYN.
Jefferson OBGYN was seriously the best experience for the birth of my 2nd child. I saw most of the providers in the office and felt extremely comfortable with all of them. They respect you, your choices, and your birth wishes, but also are very realistic and transparent about your health. The best way that I could describe them is intentional. Everything they do is intentional, well-practiced, and with your health in mind. This is not something that I experienced with my first baby at a different practice, and it made the whole experience go smoothly.A special shout out to Barbara Royston who I saw several times in the office and also who was on call the day I delivered my baby. What I like about her is that she is obviously very knowledgeable and experienced, but she knows how to talk to non medical professionals in a way that can be understood. She is easy to talk to. The first thing she asked me when I was admitted was “what are your goals for today? And how can we work together to achieve them?” And she stuck to them. She checked on me often, which was not something I experienced at my first birth at a different practice, which consisted of me seeing the doctor at 7am for induction and 5pm for delivery. If you’re looking for a practice and a doctor to guide you through your pregnancy, don’t hesitate. I liked every doctor I saw in that practice and would have felt comfortable with any one of them on my delivery day.
I have had two children and received my prenatal, labor, delivery, and postpartum care through Jefferson OB/GYN. Both times, the providers were excellent, working closely with me to help actualize my birth choices and care preferences. Dr. Montgomery delivered my daughter and Dr. Huffstetler delivered my son. I had no reservations about any of the providers and honestly feel that any provider of their group would have done a wonderful job with my labor and delivery! One thing I think is under appreciated is the expertise of the Certified Nurse Midwives, Sue Woodson and Barbara Royston. Whenever I saw either of them, they were wonderful! Both are very experienced providers who are knowledgeable, kind, and compassionate. I felt very comfortable with both providers and would recommend them to anyone in the future!I continue to go to Dr. Wamhoff for my routine care and will plan to use this practice again for any subsequent pregnancies.
I truly had the best experience here. Words cannot describe how grateful I am for everyone’s kindness, diligence, and expertise. From the front staff, to the nurses, to the ultrasound techs and the doctors, I am truly amazed at how they cared for me and for my baby during pregnancy. Doctors Arnold, Culver, and Kraus were exceptional during my visits and I could not have dreamed of a better experience delivering with Dr. Owens.
Very disappointed and aggravated with this place. If your after 20 weeks pregnant they will not care for you. I called awhile ago to set up an appointment said they would call me back. Never got a call so I called today and was told your after 20 weeks pregnant we cannot give you care. If they would have called back in time I wouldnt have been 20 weeks. So now I am 23 weeks pregnant just now trying to find a new doctor. Very upset in tears right now!Update: I went into labor and came here. They might not have taken me in for prenatal care but I could not have asked for a better place to have given birth. Even though they missed my vein 6 times and left me with severe bruising.. I still would choose this hospital. The man that gave me my epideral was a saint! I am drop dead terrified of needles but the nurse talked with me through the whole thing. I wish I could remember her name she was also pregnant and gave birth the day or two after I did anyways... if it wasnt for her I would not have made it through it. I had my epideral within 10 minuets of being there. The next day I had my beautiful baby boy. I had to have an emergent surgery literally right after birth (all of my placenta didnt come out) the doctor did an amazing job of taking care of me. The nurses were amazing even though some were rougher than others while checking to see if my uterus was shrinking. I remember saying GD one time she pushed so hard. But over all the good out weigh the bad, if I had to choose, I would come here again for child birth.
I cannot say enough good things about this practice. I have been using this practice for GYN care since I was 15??, but most recently used the practice for OB care where I really got to know most of the providers. Most, if not all, of the providers are professional, personable, willing to take in all your questions and concerns, and really want to work with you to provide the best care possible (while giving you the best recommendations for your personal health).I have to give a special shout out though to Dr. Huffstettler who was an amazing OB to have in my labor room and was so great to see during my prenatal visits! You wont regret coming to this practice!
I have been a patient of this place for over 30 years. My doctor retired last year before COVID-19 hit. I switched to Dr. Arnold. I saw him last year, no problem. Showed up today early had my mammogram on time by the wonderful gentle lady that has been doing that for the last 3 years and finished up prior to my gynecology exam. So I knew I would have to wait until my time. My time came and went. When asked when I would be seen, one of the nice ladies went to check for me and came back to say that Dr. Arnold has a few pregnant women he needed to see and he would be with me shortly.Within 5 minutes the nurse came to get me to check my weight And blood pressure. I asked her how long would it be before seeing the doctor as it is now more than 20 minutes past my appointment time. She confirmed the same thing the lady at the front desk had said and stated “it shouldn’t be too long.” Truthfully it’s already been to long. So I decided to wait. Undressed, gown on an ready...waited another 20 minutes no doctor. I got dressed left out the room checked in with lady at “check out.” Advised her I will not wait another minute. I also stated if I had been late, they would not see me, charge me a missed appointment fee and I would have to reschedule. This is what I call POOR service!!! I’m beyond disappointed as I missed time from work when I could have clearly left out after my mammogram and returned to work. Therefore, Dr. Arnold think about your scheduling tactics before scheduling all those patients-whether pregnant patients or non-pregnant (as I am not pregnant).
After being a patient for over 20 years with no issues, COVID came, I randomly missed a payment, I even called about missing the payment, then continued to make more payments just to find out by mail from a law firm, I was sent to collections and another 900 tacked onto my balance! They have no note of Ebony talking to me telling me it was fine. She never mentioned anything about missing payments or a policy or that I had miss any in the past while I was on the phone with her! I was treated horrible by the billing staff and the office manager when I called over this! I was told nothing they could do. Lawyers office said they could close it no charge but sent a email to them not to close it after I spoke to the billing manager and she lied to me. Apparently I missed 3 payments randomly over years of paying! Dr. Owens is great and Im not even allowed to see her or even talk to her about my care, all over a balance I have been paying on faithfully for over 3 years straight! Apparently there is a policy about missed payments I never was told anything about or that I was close to being sent to collections. Nothing!
I have been going to this practice for over 10 years and after today I will no longer be going back. Im currently waiting for my insurance card so I was considered a self pay at my visit, I was told that they could not file to insurance for this visit once I give them the card, I traveled from another state to VA and my card was in the mail to be expected today when I was not there. I then asked if i would be able to set up a payment plan and was told no because that was not offered, I waited for 30 min which I understand does happen but was then rushed through the first part of the visit during the second part of the visit nothing was done that had been discussed during a previous virtual visit. I was brushed off and I truly understand what it felt like to be treated as a self pay patient today, I was not given the same care or attention that I have normally received in the past when I was a insured patient.Im truly disappointed in this practice.
Dr. Wamhoff is amazing!!!! My first birth was at a different hospital and was a complete disaster. I was nervous for the second time, but dr. Wamhoff was incredible and allowed me to have a smooth birthing process. Highly recommend her, she accommodated my needs/wants and made me like she wanted what was best for myself and my baby.
My first experience was amazing. Since getting a new insurance and expecting again I called to set up another appointment only to be told they do not accept my insurance. You would think in such a large area and surrounded by rural counties this would not be an issue. I am beyond disappointed that Dr. Arnold will not deliver our next child as we had a wonderful delivery experience with him. I hope that in the future they can change policies to include most insurances as stated on their website, as I do believe this to be an excellent practice... now on to a new OB.
I drove 45 minutes to go to this OB through the 2nd half of my pregnancy. I decided I wanted to have my baby at MJH and my mom had gone here when she was pregnant with me and loved it. I am so glad I did. I loved every single doctor and nurse that I saw and now I have a beautiful and healthy baby thanks to the care I received here. I will definitely come here for any further care and my future pregnancies. They are educational and made me feel informed about every decision about my health.
I can’t imagine having a baby surrounded by any other practice. We’ve welcomed 3 babies with this team, 3 very different deliveries with 3 different OBs catching them. I always felt that each doctor was so well informed, knew me, knew what was important to me, and walked alongside us through the whole process from start to finish. I always felt safe, well informed, and respected. I’ve been a patient at this practice for over 10 years, based off recommendations by other women when we first relocated to the area, and it’s the best decision I’ve made.
Dr. Moon was just lovely. I’ve never liked going to the OBGYN and now I look forward to the next time I can see her. You can tell she cares deeply about the work she does.
I love love love this practice. Because there are so many practitioners, you do get a wide variety of opinions, but I actually appreciate that wide variety of perspectives of each of them. I have had two incredibly long labors that resulted in C- sections, but I felt so cared for, respected in our choices, and heard throughout. The second labor was an attempted VBAC and the docs/midwives were seriously amazing through the entire process, right through the second C-section, which was tough to accept at first. I have 2 gorgeous boys because of the care of these awesome practitioners. Highly recommend this practice if you want personalized care and love in whatever circumstances you face is birth! You all rock!
I had a fantastic pregnancy and post partum experience at Jefferson OBGYN. I had several post partum follow up appointments due to issues I was having and the providers always made me feel heard and taken care of when I was there. Especially Dr. Owens. I never felt rushed or that I was just a number.Dr. Wamhoff and Dr. Owens were terrific during my labor and delivery! I could not have asked for a better team of providers. My husband and I speak very highly of this practice. Highly recommend Jefferson OBGYN to all of my local friends.
This practice feels more like family to me at this point. I am forever grateful for Dr. huffstetler and Dr. Arnold for bringing my boys into this world. I couldnt have asked for better delivery experiences. As someone that has worked with this group of doctors at the hospital and seen them as a patient, I trust each of them. I believe they provide the best care to each and everyone of their patients. You couldnt ask for a better group of doctors to care for you and your baby.
I was a patient of the wonderful and now retired Dr Montgomery. Almost two years ago I found a lump in my breast. I called for an appointment and Dr Montgomery wasn’t available and I saw Dr Kelly Owens. Dr Owens was fabulous. She confirmed that it did feel suspicious and set up for me to have a mammogram immediately. She also helped me keep perspective and assured me that we could navigate the process together as it needed to be biopsied. I had seen Dr Montgomery since 2000 and couldn’t have been happier with his medical advice and bedside manner. Therefore I couldn’t imagine being so instantly comfortable switching to a new gynecologist “in crisis.” Dr Owens is a wonderful physician!!
Dr Wamhoff and the staff at Jefferson OB have been a God send to me not only for GYN care, but for my first pregnancy. When no one else would listen Dr Wamhoff slowed down and helped me make the right decision for my pregnancy and health. She is a calm in the storms that pregnancy may bring. I wish I could have stayed with her through it all, but I know she wants the best care for me due to my high risks. I never was a number to her, but a friend and someone she cared about. I hope all can take her as an example of a practitioner with full human compassion and taking care of her community. She is the bomb and I consider the staff amazing. Being a nurse I have high standards and Dr Wamhoff and her staff go above and beyond.
I loved all of the doctors, but Dr.Wamhoff was by far the best. She delivered my baby and was very reassuring and kept me calm the whole time. She’s very good at what she does. I would definitely recommend Jefferson OB to any of my friends. Next pregnancy I will for definitely return.
I had a hysterectomy in December by Dr. Huffstetler. She was absolutely AMAZING. Her bedside manner is so calm and reassuring. Her guidance through the last year and a half of trying to figure out the best treatment plan for my range of symptoms was so helpful. Unfortunately the less-invasive options did not work, leading me to surgery. I would come to my pre and post-op appointments with questions that I would think about at 3am. No question was too silly. No request too far-fetched. She was eager to help in any way possible, including dealing with the insurance issues I had the day BEFORE my surgery. I couldn’t be more thankful for Dr. Huffstetler and her team that help me get to a much healthier and happier place!! I ha e definitely found my gynecologist for life!!
I was very disappointed with this office. I am pregnant with my first child and chose this office due to the location convenience. I was quickly disappointed. The ultrasound tech, Ruth, made me feel extremely judged and almost made me feel guilty. She was rude and spoke to me in an unacceptable manner. I tried to let it go but it was on my mind so I called and requested to not have to deal with her anymore. The office staff member I spoke to was so rude and refused to let me see another ultrasound tech in the future. She basically told me “you get what you get.” I told her that maybe I needed to find another doctor and she responded “okay, have a great day” and hung up on me. Dr. Owens was really nice but the rest of the staff made me feel awful so halfway through my pregnancy I am forced to find a new doctor.
If I could give this place six stars or more, I would. I started going to Jefferson OBGYN when I first moved to Charlottesville five years ago and have had nothing but amazing experiences with Dr. Culver. When I got pregnant in January, I only became more impressed with the compassion, attentiveness, and care from all the doctors at this practice. Last week, I delivered a healthy baby boy via emergency C Section after it was determined that I had HELLP Syndrome. This syndrome affects less than 1% of pregnant women and yet, Dr. Keng immediately recognized the severity of the situation and swiftly and calmly got me on the road to recovery and my boy safely into my husbands arms. Over the following days, we received nothing but support and genuine compassion from all of the doctors making rounds. I never felt more supported and cared for in an incredibly scary and exciting time. From the Pilipowskyj family, thank you from the bottom of our hearts. We will always sing your praises!
The doctors at Jefferson OBGYN have been with me and my husband through many ups and downs since I became a patient over 10 years ago. I love that there are so many doctors. You can find the ones that you really connect with and stick with them, but also feel safe knowing that no matter who you are seen by -- they will be knowledgeable, helpful and compassionate.I have delivered two full term babies under the guidance of Dr. Arnold and then Dr. Keng. While both experiences were completely different, they were both something I treasure so much as they both gave me the care that was specific and special for each individual baby and myself. I am forever grateful for Jefferson OBGYN.
I’m sad to post such a poor review because I loved my doctors there and had such a great experience with the birth of my son. But here we go...I called this afternoon concerned that I’ve been exhibiting worsening post-partum depression symptoms over the past few months. I was forwarded to the nurse line, gave a rundown of my experiences, and was told they’d like to see me tomorrow morning. As soon as a hung up the phone I got a call back, saying my account was “locked” and then I was forwarded to the “business department”. Once the forward was answered, a woman advised me that I had a $400 balance from my sons birth. I said I was unfamiliar with that amount and asked if it was billed to insurance. She said no, they didn’t have insurance on file for him. I told her he had insurance and we just went through this, spending 3 months going through a timely filing appeal, ultimately being held responsible for co-payments only. She said that even if they filed his insurance now that it would be declined for timely filing and that insurance doesn’t see it as the responsibility of the patient so it would be “on them”. I said “so you’re telling me I cannot be seen or treated for post-partum depression because of a $400 bill that I am ultimately not responsible for?” She said “yes.”Edit: the end result was the nurse calling me back, advising me to go to UVA ER.Additional Edit/Update: I called the person mentioned in the comment reply to my review. I was told they were out of the office/unavailable and would return my call if I left a voicemail. I left a voicemail with my name, rundown of the reason for my call, and phone number. I never received a call back.
Having a baby can be frightening enough, but also putting the care of a child into someone’s hands that you barely know is also quite scary too. BUT, look no further when it comes to Jefferson OB/GYN. This is the hands down, best office to go to! Whether it’s for pregnancy or just a *lady* checkup. My own personal experience with every doctor I met was phenomenal- and especially to Dr. Huffstetler, who I seen a handful of times during pregnancy and I was even lucky to have her in delivery room to bring my baby into the world! The office is all around a comfortable place to be and with staff that is willing to go the extra mile that makes a huge difference! I would recommend this practice to anyone I know and will definitely be the only doctors I see for future babies! All of you rock!
The office was always pleasant and clean, the ladies at the desk were always pleasant, but my experience with the CNM my appointments were scheduled with were not pleasant. I had high hopes after reading the Google reviews, but was disappointed. My experience made me shy away from making appointments and visiting doctors in general. If you are looking for a supportive healthcare provider, I would recommend asking them not to book you with their CNM. At almost every visit she would comment on my weight fluctuations in a demeaning manor. One time she asked me after learning about my job change if working in a bakery had played a part in my 5 pound weight gain since last visit. Little did she know I was working with a health coach to focus on building muscle and taking Orange Theory classes. I made sure to let her know how I had been focusing on my health. She was also very judgmental about my decision to not take birth control, and use only condoms, after a bad experience with birth control in my past. She told me that not being on birth control was asking for pregnancy, and that condoms dont count towards controlling pregnancy. As a UVA student who was looking to establish a caring health partner during my time in Charlottesville, I was completely turned off from this group. Bedside manner and support should be a standard in the health field. Hopefully the doctors at this practice do a much better job than the CNM.
Jefferson OBGYN is amazing. If we ever move away from Charlottesville, Id truly be sad to have to find another practice. I love that theyre a doctor group and you can rotate through several to get a wide range of perspectives, opinions, and personalities. Its that much more reassuring when having a baby, and knowing that youll likely know and have a relationship with whoever is on-call.
This used to be a good practice however, in the last 4 years it has become a disaster. I cannot explain or emphasize enough how rude the staff are. I work in healthcare and cannot imagine treating a patient in the manner that they do. Everyone from the front desk staff to the techs and nurses are incredibly rude. From being treated abruptly to staff members openly and negatively talking about me while I’m waiting for them to finish checking me or register me. Do not ever go here if you want to feel like you matter.
All my 4 babies were delivered by the doctors at Jefferson ObGyn, specifically DRs Montgomery and Culver. The entire staff took great care of me during my pregnancies, especially my last one during the height of the pandemic.
Was here earlier today, very disappointed. It started at the front door where people were smoking cigarettes and no non-smoking signs were present. Once at the desk you are treated like a number, they rush you in and out, they didnt even know my name. When your in the room, you dont get any information on what, how and why they do things. No time to ask questions, in the end they give you a phone number and tell you if you have questions to call that number. Right after i called the number twice, each time 18 minutes waiting time, first call got disconnected. Left the place without a thing, only info I got was how long I have been pregnant and when I have to visit the obgyn again. Kind of scary as I dont see how I can trust the life of my child with this organization.
I’ve always had a great experience with Jefferson Ob/Gyn. I just delivered my first baby with Dr. Arnold and he was phenomenal! He was so calm and reassuring during my labor and delivery. I couldn’t have had a better experience!
My experience with Dr. Culver has been excellent. He is very friendly, and has great bedside manner. I was nervous about having a procedure done and he was very reassuring. He also explained everything that was going on along the way. I would highly recommend Dr. Culvers services. Thank you Dr. Culver for your excellent care!
I WILL NEVER RECOMMEND THIS PLACE TO ANYONE IF THEY WANT ANSWERS OR A LOW STRESS PREGNANCY.I’ve been here three times so far and have NEVER had a good experience. The first time we were there the doctor wanted some extra tests run because she saw something that concerned her but the office staff was clueless when it came to military insurance and literally told me to “figure it out” and then call them back. Finally had to three way call my insurance and the office for them to sort it out after hours of going back and forth. The second time I went in I had labs drawn and they told me that the specific test they were pulling for wouldn’t have results for 7 days. Then when I called in after 7 days they said 7-10 business days and that they were just waiting for results that my labs were “pending” so after TWO WEEKS, two receptionists, one nurse AND A DOCTOR all told me that my labs were “still pending” a nurse FINALLY called me and said that they had “LOST MY BLOOD” and that they wanted me to come in that day to have a new sample drawn. She said they didn’t know what happened or how but that if I wanted results back in two MORE weeks I would need to come back in for more blood work.So the third time I go in right to lab core like I was instructed to for MORE labs to be drawn and they had absolutely no paperwork for me no knowledge that I was even coming. So then I had to go up to the office and they had no idea what I was talking about either.Fast forward to later that afternoon and the “admin” person called me, who was “trying to resolve the situation” was not understanding my situation or my bad experiences at all. She told me “ma’am you seem really upset and aggressive,” and I NEVER ONCE cursed or screamed at her. I was firm and frustrated but I simply asked, “wouldn’t you be??” and told me to “find another obgyn” since I was so unhappy.TELL ME HOW THAT CONVERSATION WAS SUPPOSED TO “RESOLVE” ANYTHING???? Writing off patients when they have bad experiences? LET ME BE ABSOLUTELY CLEAR... I was at no time rude or attacking towards this administration person at all and was written off because they don’t want to actually help. She did say that all of these people who told me that the results were “pending” SHOULD have actually seen this in their system before telling me that they were. I was referred to this office by a few friends but I WILL NEVER RECOMMEND THIS PLACE TO ANYONE IF THEY WANT ANSWERS OR A LOW STRESS PREGNANCY.
I absolutely love Jefferson OBGYN, every time I went to all my appointments the staff was always so caring. All the doctors are amazing too, they would answer all my questions and concerns. I will definitely go back if we decide to have a second child!
I had an appointment at 10:50 for an ultrasound and then a follow up with a gynecologist. i accidentally went to the gynecologist first, and reception told me that my ultrasound was first, so I asked them how to get there, because the building is extremely confusing. It took me about 10 minutes to locate the office for my ultrasound. When I finally got there, the lady at reception handed me my paperwork and took my insurance and ID. I went to fill out my paper work, and when I brought it back up to reception, I was told that I had missed my ultrasound appointment. This was at 11:00 AM, 10 minutes, after my scheduled appointment.
Love Dr Wamhoff who has been my gyn Dr for over 10 years. I started combining my mammogram appointment with my gyn appointment this year. Convenient to do that, however there is no information given about where the mammogram is to happen. Once I figured out which building, there was no signage and I was quite lost until a tech came out and found me wandering around. Otherwise very happy with the care.
I love love my doctor, Dr Rachelle Keng. I would trust her to do the right thing for me whether its for routine gyn care or else. Even though pap smears are never fun, she makes me feel easier about it. I feel incredibly lucky that shes my doctor. Everyone at the practice is so great. I saw Dr Owens and Dr Taylor for episodic visits too, and they were so sweet. Highly recommend JeffersonObGyn.
Rude, incompetent collections staff took my wife and I into there unfriendly back office prior to our Dr visit. We got tagged team by two ladies who tried to make us pay for 9 months of service at our first visit without an EOB or itemized bill. They told us we had to pay up front because “some people don’t pay after they receive an EOB.” They continued to invent reasons why at Jefferson you hand over money without receiving the healthcare services but all there reasons were LIES and not aligned with our insurance company (and all other insurance companies policies). They made us miss our Dr apt because they wanted the money first so we had to wait for the next slot. This made us extremely late for our next appointment and everyone including our Dr. who we actually like knew we were back there in the collections:shake you down for cash office with two ladies that know nothing about Healthcare finance at best they probably have an associates in general studies. They tried to school me on something I am well educated in and work in full time. Needles to say I am reporting them to my insurance companies adherence department and may need to take further action if this continues.
I could not imagine having my babies anywhere else. All of the doctors are amazing, but Dr. Wamhoff delivered all 3 of our kids and I could not imagine going through it with anyone else. She gave comfort and made us feel at ease with delivering during the Covid-19 pandemic. I truly could not ask for a better OB, thank you for being amazing!!
My husband and I were recommended to Jefferson Obgyn after finding out that we were expecting. From the first appointment through the safe arrival of our little one, all of the doctors and staff took great care of us. We highly recommend them to anyone looking for an office that provides great care to their patients!
Been waiting here for too long with wife. I am a healthcare administrator and everywhere I have ever received care or worked I have never been told I HAVE to pay for care I have yet to receive. When we expressed our desire to be billed after all appointments were submitted to insurance (after we actually receive services not before) we were called from the waiting room and tag teamed by two bill collectors demanding we pay up front. Even after I explained that we would pay after we receive an itemized eob from insurance and bill from you. These two woman tried to say that pre natal healthcare is different than all other healthcare in the world and that is why you MUST pay us 9 months out now for care you have not yet received. I disagreed and a nurse came in room to get us during our awkward conversation. This place literally spent more time trying to shake us down for money than they did explaining our plan of Care or discharge summary.
I gave this office two tries with 2 different doctors, last year and the year before. Once with dr. Heider. He was fine just wasnt for me. The next appt was eith dr. Pat and it was the worst experience. I was told that if you weigh more than 150lbs than the pill wont be as effective as an IUD or arm implant. There is seriously no study to even prove this. And I feel as though she had said this to push another method. She was extremely pushy about the IUD and arm implant. She was also extremely pushy about having extra tests done. I said no to a couple of these but she did convince me but failed to mention that it would be 450 dollars for said tests. She could look on my chart and see I didnt have insurance at that time so this would have been nice to know. I understand doctors are busy but she seemed very uninterested in anything I was trying to talk to her about and I just felt extremely uncomfortable the whole time. I am writing this review now instead of then because I went to the UVA womens midlife center and saw Dr. Rindos and she was excellent! The whole burning staff was. I wish I remembered the nurses name as well because she just as amazing. I highly recommend UVA over this place and I normally stick with Martha Jefferson.
I will always choose to deliver my babies with Jefferson OB/Gyn. Dr. Wamhoff delivered my first baby who is now 7 months old! This team is amazing, and will look out for you! No matter how scared you are! ❤️
I must have just seen the wrong practitioner at this office. This practice was recommended to me by a close friend and a coworker as well. I saw Pat Dougherty for a normal yearly exam. I voiced my concerns with hopefully getting pregnant over the next year since I have Fibromyalgia, lupus and Hashimotos Thyroiditis. These diseases caused me to gain tons of weight a few years ago, but through dedication and hard work on myself, I got all of it off and then some. P. Dougherty had me leaving the office in tears because she highly reccomended that I never get pregnant due to my body image issues and health issues. I was spoken to as if I was a child. I was asked if I had cats and informed that I need to watch it since I cannot touch kitty litter, which I told her I already knew as well as not eating deli meats or soft cheeses. I am 30, I am not a child. Leaving that office to go back to work, P. Dougherty had be hysterical, feeling as if my husband may leave me since I know how badly he wants children and she told me to not even try. She sent me for a referral to a UVA fertility and high-risk pregnancy office to have another chat with a fertility specialist since P. Dougherty originally thought that I should never get pregnant. This VERY PROFESSIONAL DR told me that she should not have even hinted at the fact that I shouldnt/cannot get pregnant and had no right to. I was given the green light to try and would not even be considered high risk, but medium risk. Now I refuse to see this practitioner anymore, however may give another doctor and this practice another try. Someone with better bedside manner and understanding without the feeling of being rushed and spoken to as if I had some mental issue.
I am new to Charlottesville and Jefferson OB/GYN was highly recommended by my coworkers. The staff was extremely courteous and Dr Arnold was very thorough in addressing all of my needs. I felt as though he truly listened and heard my concerns as well as reassuring me that everything was fine.
3.5 years agoy son was born at 40 weeks as an emergency c-section because the doctors would not listen to me that I really thought he was breech. I was told by 3 doctors that he wasnt and that my insurance wouldnt pay for an ultrasound to check. I really wish I had just gone somewhere else or just paid for one on my own. I didnt have the normal discarge, wasnt feeling him move much, and was pretty sure I felt hiccups up high, but I was not listened to at all.
I have delivered all three of my children with them and wouldn’t have it any other way. Every doctor on rotation is amazing, caring, and completely there for you and baby. So excited to have such a wonderful practice in our area.
All the staff was really sweet. Racheal was my ultrasound technician, and she explained everything very well. Dr. Arnold was who I saw for my appointment, he answered my questions very informatively and made me feel at ease.
I have been a patient of this practice, specifically, Dr. Christine Wamhoff, since about 2010. Dr. Wamhoff is the AMAZING! She’s kind, compassionate, caring, and has the BEST laugh! I drive an hour to see her! Well worth the trip.
An incredible group of caring professionals 💞 Theyve been with me through 3 births and 2 miscarriages with such great care! If youre looking for a practice that respects you, empowers you, and supports you, this is it!
We love Jefferson OB. All the doctors are wonderful, kind and considerate. Our favorite is Dr. Huffstetler :) We really appreciate this practice and we’re glad to see them growing & expanding their practice.
Ive been coming here for years, I always feel listened to, no judgments, and Ive never experienced any issues ever. I recommend Sue Woodson any day!
I love going here even though it is a 35 minute drive for me. Everyone I have met so far has been very nice and helpful! :) There have been a couple times when the wait for my appointment went overly long. But I guess that’s to be expected at a busy office.
I really like my normal doctor (Brooke Kilfoil) but lately I have had to see 2 different FNPs and have not been impressed. Also, depending on your insurance a lot of their procedures and tests are not covered and you end up paying out of pocket. The worst experience is if you have a billing question you have to play around the world. The offices phone tree for billing directs you to a voice message that gives an 866 number to call for inquiries. After you call them and figure out its related to testing performed at Sentara youre given another local 654 number. Then if its hospital related (such as a PAP test performed by Pathology) youre given an 888 number to call. Its ridiculous. Save your time and use UVA.
The reason I wanted to rate is because Martha Jefferson only has 1 dr doctor that takes medicaid It is so sad that people like me that love Martha Jefferson hospital cannot go and have their children there anymore because the Doctors dont accept medicaid I think if the hospital accepts medicaid the doctors should
Love my doctor, but the wait times are ridiculous. Always waiting more than an hour to be seen with an appointment. Seems rediculous... but this is the norm for this office. To many patients and no time to focus on you as an individual because they overbook.
This practice is great. I have gone here for several years and have been very pleased. I was honored to have them be a part of my pregnancy and birth of my daughter. I highly recommend them.
I have been through a lot over the past 5 years and Dr. Culver has been such a blessing to me and my husband, walking us through everything with kindness and compassion ❤️
Rude scheduling department, needed a call back from the nurse on a time constraint appointment that they told me to call back for and I cant get a return call for the appointment, dont need this kind of health care service in my life!!!!
Absolutely thrilled to have found Dr. Taylor. Fantastic bedside manner, great sense of humor and extremely knowledgeable. I wish I had discovered her years ago.
Today was my first time going to Martha Jefferson obgyn and I saw Pat Dougherty it was the absolute worst experience ever from beginning to end, needless to say I don’t know any more than did when went and will without a shadow of a doubt have a big bill for 10 mins that I was there and I went in with issues, no blood work done, no swabbing when did Pap test, everything was hurry hurry hurry, I never saw a nurse the np came got me from waiting room never introduced herself until got back to room the whole experience was very unprofessional and I went in with bad pain came out with bad pain no meds no nothing, very angry I missed a day of work for this and still feel no better physically or about the office visit she didn’t tell me what my bp was, didn’t tell me how urine test came out!!!!! So angry
If they are with Martha Jefferson then why was I told that they cant accept my insurance? I have Medicade and thought for sure they would accept it. Actually they shouldve told me over the phone. Thought I would give this place a try, but back to UVA I go.
Recently had a total hysterectomy done and I couldnt have been taken care of better. Had the best treatment and care and experience!
Excellent experience with Dr. Huffstetler. Wonderful patient manner, really listens, and its clear she knows her stuff. Would highly recommend to anyone.
This place is handling too many customers, it looks like they have no time for more patients, hopefully a new organization opens up in the area as the population seems to outgrow the few options in Charlottesville area.
Very professional from the staff to the doctor. The doctor took his time with me and actually listened. Dr. Arnold was nice and down to earth.
Always a pleasant visit seeing Dr. Wamhoff. Ive only been seen for gyn visits but I highly recommend.
They will pressure you to end the pregnancy of a child who tests for downs or other genetic abnormalities.
Dr.kilfoil is caring, empathetic and smart! Everything you want with an OBGYN
Simply the BEST ob/gyn care in Charlottesville. Hands down.
Sometimes they run behind but theyve been great to get me in and help with questions and problems!
This office rocks!!!! Including Alice Sweeney from mammogram ❤️❤️
Dr Arnold was extremely unprofessional this place is not at all recommended put me through torture
No long waiting time. Clean office, super sweet staff.
I have been here many times over the years and I wouldnt want to go anywhere else.
The best of the best. Would recommend to all my girlfriends.
Very rude scheduling staff.
I had both of my kids with Jefferson Ob/Gyn and now see Dr. Ashley Moon for annual visits. Shes great at translating complex and contradictory medical data into things I can understand. The physician who delivered baby #2, Dr. Emily Huffstetler, is outstanding. Babies come on their own schedules, and I feel very lucky that Dr. Huffstetler was on the floor.Martha Jefferson is a separate entity, but if youre in this practice thats probably where youll deliver. The nurses in the maternity ward are amazing -- all shifts, both kids. Some nurses had 25 years of experience and others were just starting out. Across the board, they were all professional, informative, kind, and caring.
