I do not like going to the doctor and especially not the gyno, but Kara Tucker is my saving grace. She makes the experience far less intimidating and as enjoyable as possible. She is extremely thorough and does not rush you out of the office like so many providers seem to do these days. She is knowledgeable and does not make you feel stupid for asking questions. You can tell she genuinely cares about her patients and their wellbeing - a much needed breathe of fresh air in the industry!
Kara Tucker always makes my experience so enjoyable, when going to the gyno. She makes you feel comfortable and always has intelligent and caring conversations, while still being productive in her work! I have been seeing her for a few years and she has made each visit great!
This practice, and Susanna Trabue especially have been taking the best care of me for years. I once dreaded my annual appointments but the staff at Wood Gynecology has changed that. The atmosphere is relaxed and everyone treats me with kindness, what an experience!
I have always received the best care here. The doctors are personable, comforting and caring. The front desk staff and nurses have always been super warm and kind as well!
Amazing practice- Ive experienced nothing but kindness and care from every single member of their team. Ive never had any issues getting an appointment and theyve been great at communicating everything from cost of services to step-by-step in the exam room. For me, its a huge bonus that this is an all-women practice.
I have been going to Woods Gynecology for several years and really love all the staff. They are timely with their responses and kind. I especially recommend Susanna Trabue, APN. She really spends her time with you and makes sure you understand and are comfortable with all your decisions, etc!
I’ve been a patient here for over 10 years. I preferred seeing Susannah because she was more caring and personal, which is why I gave 2 stars instead of 1. I honestly didn’t feel like I had a great patient experience for the last several years, but I trusted them to do my yearly exam so I didn’t see a need to switch. They let me know just a few days before my most recent scheduled exam that they were switching to private pay a couple days before my appointment, so now I’m left searching for a new gynecologist last minute. They tried to spin the switch like it was for “better patient care.” Right. We all know why.I’ve also had treatments at the Woods Aesthetics side of the office, and have mixed experiences with that. Being younger and more naive at the time I didn’t speak up, but was made to feel I was a burden and not spending enough money to be worth their time on more than one occasion.
Dr Grayson ordered a lot of tests and seemed to listen to my concerns, when the results came back and she didn’t know what was wrong with me, she called and cancelled my next office visit and blamed it on an underlying health condition that doesn’t correlate to my symptoms at all. I saw another doctor immediately who actually listened and didn’t give up on finding a diagnosis after the first appointment. Money hungry and awful.
Really torn. The doctor was fine but the front desk staff is hostile. I had to approach them and it seemed like the woman was even annoyed that I spoke to her. This place came highly recommended by a friend but after the service not being very great and then just getting a somewhat passive aggressive and again seemingly annoyed email response for doing their job...not great. Customer service is everything! Will likely try once more hoping they see this and the many other reviews like mine and either create a personnel change or have a conversation with the staff on how to treat patients, especially in a business and sensitive as gynecology.
I want to begin this review by saying I have been going to Woods Gynecology for 10 years now and have had nothing but a great experience. The doctors and practitioners there are amazing and I will continue going here. However, they really need to figure out their mask protocols and be consistent with them and post them to their website. I declined a mask at check-in and said I’d rather wait in the hallway with another woman who chose not to wear a mask in the waiting room. No big deal. A nurse came into the hallway and lead the other woman in through the waiting room. *They did not give her a mask or ask her to wear one while walking through the waiting room. * After she left, a nurse came into the hallway and told me I needed to wear a mask when I walked through because there were immunodeficient patients. I would’ve been fine with that too… if I hadn’t just watched them take another woman in without one… So I held the dental mask over my mouth as I walked through the waiting room with ZERO patients in it. All that for nothing. It felt like a weird power flex and honestly I wouldn’t have been offended at any of it if they wouldn’t have treated me differently than another patient. I get rules. Just please be consistent with everyone.
I am a 44 and have been in perimenopause since 35. Dr Woods seems to have suggestions and is willing to try things to help me solve the issues I am having. We are at the beginning of our journey together but after my first appointment with her I am impressed and feel encouraged for the first time in a long time there is hope.
I used to really like going to this office, but my recent experience has left me feeling unsettled for two months now.1- I had to call a dozen times within a week to reach anyone to make an appointment2- I was told my appointment was covered but received a bill for $72 in the mail months later3- I’ve told Julie T. I have a lump that is bothersome for years now, she’s never questioned or examined it. This visit, I emphasized I wanted to look into it further because it can be painful and I was brushed off… again. She hasn’t examined it at all and I decided to go somewhere else.4- My appointment was 2-3 days after the overturning of Roe v Wade. I told Julie T. that I had some anxieties about all of the discourse happening. She told me that 6 weeks is enough time to find out if I’m pregnant and have the procedure if I wanted / needed to (it’s not for various reasons - this appointment alone had to be booked 2 months in advance and I get my period every 5-6 weeks). She also seemed unaware that TN was planning to implement even stricter trigger laws that have since went into effect.5- I tried asking Julie some basic questions about a tubal ligation. I have never wanted to get pregnant due to very personal reasons, but I was told I am “too young to really know” and they wouldn’t do the procedure because I will “change my mind.” I was just asking simple questions about the procedure… I am not even set on doing it, I just wanted information. But she wouldn’t answer my basic questions and said no one in TN will do the procedure for me until I’m 35 (which I since found to be untrue) even though there are no laws against it.A lot of women are feeling disheartened and disenfranchised over the past few months. I thought I would feel reassured after my appointment, but I left in tears. I’m a responsible adult who is capable of making these decisions. Yet, Woods Gynecology seems to think they have a right to decide what is best for me, my body, and my future. Apparently they know better than I do about my own body and mind. It’s disgraceful and I plan to find a new gynecologist after going to this office for 4 years.Wherever you stand politically, you need to have basic empathy working in this type of career.
I just had my first appointment (standard annual checkup) with Susanna Trabune, one of the nurse practitioners, and am thrilled to have found this office! The office is clean and convenient. Every staff member was incredibly friendly and Susanna, in particular, made me feel SO comfortable. I was in and out right on schedule but did not feel rushed at all.It can always be a little nerve wracking to go to a new gynecologist but I am happy to say I finally found one I feel confident in here in Nashville.
I had left a five star rating for this office last year but have changed it based on their recent email. I have never seen a doctor’s office switch to a Direct Pay practice. A practice can do what they want but charging $50 for people to get their medical records and switch to an office that will submit your insurance claim is a complete money grab. A wellness exam with your OBGYN should be free, thanks to insurance, and I recommend not even going here so you don’t have to pay $50 for them to send a PDF of your medical history in the future.
I have been a patient of this practice for years and have always received excellent care. The recent change in their office to go off insurance is actually a good thing and seems right in line with the kind of care and attention I’ve always received. Paying a little bit more out of pocket isn’t a big deal to me bc I know the level of care I’m receiving isn’t dictated by an insurance company’s policy. Dr. Woods has one of the best reputations in town. I’d 10 times rather have her taking care of me than some dr trying to get a busy patient schedule and taking as many insurances as they can to be busy and pay the bills. I’m not into being part of a healthcare cattle call and I’ll continue to be a patient here for as long as she is in practice.
I would not recommend coming here AT ALL. I had a negative experience specifically with the nurse Julie Thomas. I’ll spare the details because it’s personal but if you want to be blown off, disregarded, and have your cycle day 3 and 21 blood work mixed up - go ahead and try it here. The lady’s at the desk are quite polite and the woman drawing blood is super friendly, but that one nurse is just very unprofessional. Waste of time and my money paying these bills for the blood work being flip flopped after she basically shrugged me off to begin with.
My first appointment was fine. They chastised me when I got there just 5 minutes early because I was suppose to come 15 minutes early except I had already filled out my paperwork and no one told me I needed to be early. The appointment itself went well and I loved the provider I saw. Then at my second appointment I made to get the nexplanon which I had waited almost two months for, I showed up 20 minutes early. When they checked me in they told me I was late. I was confused but apparently they had told me the wrong time. Instead of 1:30 my appointment was at 1. I let them know I had been waiting and needed to get this done today because I couldn’t afford to take another day. They told me it couldn’t be done today and it would be October before they could get me in. I left in tears. I loved the provider I saw but am unsure if the poor level of professionalism is worth it. They desperately need to make sure they are scheduling correctly.
Janie is incredible but the office and especially her nurse is horrible. Her nursing staff is incredibly rude and admonishing when asking questions regarding health. I have never felt so brushed off and made to feel as though I was annoying about having questions about my health and prescriptions. I am sad that after being a patient of hers for so long I am finally going to have to find some other physician. I would strongly suggest not using this office.
I have never had such a pleasant experience as to the one at this office! They were so kind and their bedside manner is unmatched. I was a new patient, and they got me in quickly and I hardly had to wait while in the office. I highly recommend these kind ladies!
Great doctors. Terrible front staff. Rude and not personable. Over 10 years they have consistently hired front staff that are like this. That’s unfortunately the first impression of this place. I got past it the first time but when I came back after having a child, it was like it all over again and they completely turned me off. I love Woods and Diddario but their staff are just awful. It is just not worth it. Mean girls belong in high school not a doctors office.
I saw Jenny Verner, APN. She is such an amazing person!! My exam was much needed and I refused to go for many years because of dumb fear.. From the moment I walked in the door, I felt welcome! The triage nurse was so friendly! Gah! Truly, she was great! The exam was completely painless! I really couldnt even tell anything was happening (other than a little pressure, as expected) to be honest! Jenny explained every single detail to me before they happened! I will worry a lot less about going now. I would highly recommend this practice. They were right on time, very fast at getting me checked in & put into a room. Everything down to office decor is perfect!! Thank you Jenny!!
This place has gone down hill since they switched to a Direct Pay clinic. I have gone there for years & they used to be so helpful, now all they care about is making money and not taking care of their patients. Something they used to call in for me all the time, now they want to charge $150. I used to always recommend this place, but I definitely would not anymore.
Ive been a patient of Dr Woods for 10 years. Her patience, kindness, and bedside manner are impeccable. She takes time with her patients during appointments and keeps a schedule where I rarely have to wait past my appointment time to be seen.
I go to the nurse practitioner, Janey Daddario, and I love this office. Everyone who works here has been very nice. Janey has been wonderfully sweet and professional, and it seems like her and Dr. Woods are very concerned with patient comfort and health.
I so badly wanted to love this place. Like who wouldn’t you can get laser, Botox and see a Gyno all in one place. I couldn’t get past the snotty rude receptionist. I can’t believe they let women like this hold positions in establishments. These are your FIRST representatives of your business. I called 2 days in a row and she was the same exact rude B! So it wasn’t an off day for her. I just wish people like this step side for someone who really needs a job! You never know who’s on the other end and they missed out on some amazing CLIENTS (yes clients as I work for someone that has me call to book their appointments) because of their unprofessional disgruntled receptionist.
I was alright with my experience there, the nurse that saw me was nice. She suggested a MyRisk test which detects cancer genes for high risk individuals (like when present in grandparents) and said that insurance covers it, and if they don’t they always call you before doing it so you can approve or deny it since it’s like a 6000 some dollar test. Said ok as long as they would call if for whatever reason it wasn’t covered, was assured they would. Well they didn’t cover any of it. So now I have this huge bill that I can’t afford because of the guidance from the nurse. So that is...not ok in my opinion. And left a very negative outlook on the facility.
This establishment came highly recommended to me, so I called to inquire about making an appointment, costs, etc and was met with a terribly condescending lecture on the importance of having health insurance and that I definitely couldn’t afford and appointment otherwise. I’m sure the doctors are great, but the front desk staff are so incredibly rude. If you ever need to feel like garbage, give this front desk a call.
Disappointing! Was referred to this office by a friend..she had an amazing experience. Left my home 45 minutes before appt...gps showed 30 min away...was told to give 15 min for paperwork. Traffic issues started (as they do in Nashville) called the office, was told as long as I was there by 10:30, no problem. Walked in @ 10:25...was handed paperwork, then told they couldnt see me. Im certain if I had had to wait for my appointment, I would have had more consideration for them.
I went here a year ago for heavy periods. Was told there was nothing to be done, Im a woman and just get on with it. Have since seen a different gynecologist at a different practice who immediately came up with three medications/solutions for heavy bleeding... The bedside manner was not there. Just got the sense the Dr. really did not care. Waste of time.
They drug out getting Mirena for 4 months. Then didnt have the prescription ready for the appt. Plenty of excuses, not the place to go if you have anxiety, as they will double it. And yeah, the receptionist everyone complains about called me ugly.
For the past 5 years, Ive lived with the idea that I have a mysterious condition called PCOS. Other gynecologists told me to take pills, and the Internet told me to change my diet. I resigned myself to the fact that infertility was imminent. Well, I met Dr. Woods today, and she listened, cleared up all the confusion Ive had for years, and said I was most likely misdiagnosed. Best of all, she told me to stop stressing about this one thing. Its cliché, but sometimes one person really can make all the difference in your world. Im so glad and grateful Dr. Woods is in my corner! :)
I had my first appointment yesterday and the ladies were so nice. I’m very new to the West Nashville area and this office had the best reviews. I will be returning every year for my annual pap smear. Thank you all!
I never leave bad reviews like this, but I was shocked by how rude a particular member of the office staff was. I called to ask a question about a medication refill and the receptionist without any kind of question as to what medication or who I was, said that I just needed to wait because they have other patients to worry about I wasnt calling to try and get in front of anyone, I was just calling to see if it would be days or weeks until I get a refill or if I would need to make an appointment.
I’m completely in shock to learn this office will now be self pay! That is ridiculous for gynecology. I’ve been with my provider there for at least 10 years! Very mad and disappointed.
I love going to my doctor’s appointments with Dr. Susanna Trabue. She is so kind, a good listener, and so helpful! I’d recommend her to anyone in Nashville!
I wish all my medical providers were as wonderful as these women. Started using the aesthetics side recently after using them this past few years and its incredible service throughout!
They are not good at answering the phone I’ve tried contacting them multiple times today about a prescription refill and they still have not gotten back to me. They really need to learn how to answer the phone.
After 25 years of being a patient I was told they will no longer take insurance. They only want to help the wealthy now. Shame on them
Kindest staff from front desk to nurses to drs! ❤️
Nicest staff Ive ever met at a doctors office. Highly recommend! :)
Absolutely love the staff! Super kind, compassionate and they actually listen to you!
Really pleasant office and staff that make you feel comfortable being there.
Great! Fast , friendly, professional! Very modern and convenient office!
This place is wonderful! Dr. Susanna Trabue is the best!
