Kayla is an outstanding provider and individual!! She takes women’s healthcare seriously and has ample experience in the field. We are very fortunate to have someone like her in our community. She is a safe haven for women and their care, I would highly recommend!
I contemplated on even writing this review , and I felt the need to do it to spare somebody of the same experience I went through . I’m currently pregnant with my 5th child . I went to the pace office because the Pensacola office said they had no openings to start my prenatal care till mid July , so I agreed to go to pace to get my prenatal care started . I’ve always had light menstrual cycles and they’ve always only lasted a few days (3-4) and they are always irregular . I also dont remember at what gestational period my kids arrived. So when I get to the office they hand me a bunch of paperwork (which is normal) and I filled it out to the best of my ability. One of these papers asked me was I okay with a training nurse practicing on me , to which I answered no. When I got to the back I waited for dr Kayla , and she came in with 2 training nurses. kayla asked me some questions, witch i want to add she was very nice , then she told the training nurses to do a thyroid check and breast exam. Kayla looked over my paperwork ,so I know she saw that sheet where I marked no to the training nurses …but then we get into the gestational periods I gave birth to the rest of my kids. She said the ages didn’t make any sense to her , I told her idk I can’t remember what week I gave birth to my kids so she said “get a release of records” to the training nurses . Mind you this whole visit she’s not really addressing me, she’s telling the nurses what she’s going too do next (witch I felt was unprofessional). She asks me if I smoke , witch I replied yes I smoke marijuana. She recommended I quit (witch is normal , and not my issue). She then asks how vice been feeling , to witch I replied “ very very sick “ , I suffer from HG episodes (Hyperemisis Gravidarium) . So she said she would right a prescription for some nausea medication, witch she never did . So I told her the date of the first day of my believed last period , witch would put me at about 9 weeks . When she did the ultrasound, she said that I was “much further along at 13 weeks and 6 days “ , so I explained to her my first thought that came to mind, witch is that I still have bleeding and the last time I bled it was very heavy and there were large clumps . She then told me that when she did my pelvic exam she saw no signs of bleeding ….insinuating that I was lying or overdramatic I don’t know , but that’s how I felt . She then called another doctor in to look because she didn’t see what could cause that heavy of bleeding every month . But it didn’t happen every month it happened about 2 weeks before my appointment . The other doctor said she seen something in the right side of my uterus , but nothing to cause that heavy of bleeding as well . In a room full of people , she basically called me a liar ;when that is far from the case. What was I supposed to do in that situation? I felt embarrassed, I felt like I couldn’t advocate for myself , and I felt rushed (the experience was all of 10 minutes maybe ) . I will not be coming back to this doctor’s office , and I suggest you look for a different doctor aswell.
My experience felt very rushed and impersonal. This is my first pregnancy and she didnt even let the father of the child see the ultra sound. As soon as I expressed excitement of hearing the heart beat, she ended it after 2 seconds and that was the appointment. $206.
I had two appts with Kayla in substitution of my own doctor being out. The appts felt rushed, and a lot of my concerns seemed to fall on deaf ears. I dont believe she went through my medical record to see everything that was already put in for me because she specifically said I dont see a need for that... this is my experience and what Im dealing with. Regardless of what is seen its per the patients request when its something they feel its something necessary in regards to them. There was too much doctor talk and not enough personal talk to get to know my situation.I immediately requested my original doctors back and said I would wait, so that I could be heard and acknowledged on my concerns.
Kayla is absolutely amazing. Ive been to multiple gynecologists for vaginal issues Ive been having for years, only for the other doctors to discard what Ive been going through. Kayla not only listened to me, but she figured out what has been going on with me and is helping treat the issue. Her and her staff at the Pace location are fantastic! ❤️
