They were very kind and understanding. Not one person gave me a hard time. Everyone working there was nice, not judging and professional. I was in and out. I was recommended by my daughter to come here and I will recommended it anyone else that is in my type of situation. Thank you ladies for helping me and easing my mind. I appreciate you all.
My regular doctor’s office was booked out for months so Planned Parenthood was a great solution for me to get services right away. It was my first time visiting them and Carina was extremely wonderful. She was kind, patient and professional. She made my whole experience a great one, thank you Carina!
My experience with the actual doctors and procedures was great, but the follow up has been a total pain. I missed a call from my doctor about the results of my pap, called them back right away, doctor was out of office and theyd call me back the next day. OK, fine, thats my bad. Got a call the next day, the guy on the other end is talking about making an appointment to go over the results. I ask cant we just do it over the phone, his response confuses me too much for me to question it but essentially it was its better to have an appointment because the doctors arent always available. Hes schedules me for an appointment the next day. I drive the 45 minutes one way to the office bc this was the only one that does this procedure, and the girl at the desk says the doctors who do those procedures arent in Thursday or Friday only Monday Tuesday Wednesday. Well then why did he schedule me for Friday? I ask her why I had to schedule instead of getting a phone call she says oh yeah we can have them call you on monday. And then I drove back home another 45 minutes. Its now Tuesday. Guess who still hasnt called me?While I was there I asked for a physical copy of the results, she originally told me I can give them to you but not sure if theyll make any sense but I decided to get them anyway and thankfully I knew enough to know that the word benign is a good thing. Otherwise Id still be waiting anxiously to find out if I have cervical cancer. Also, neither call came in as blocked/ private number which is what I was told to look out for. Ive truly never felt the urge to be a Karen before this day, but this was so frustrating and stressful.
In February I went to Planned Parenthood in Santa Monica, CA for an IUD birth control removal. and re-insertion of a new IUD. The doctor that was conducting the procedure and was very abrasive in behavior. She wasn’t communicating in a professional way. They set me up in the medical chair and had my feet in the stirrups. She started to remove IUD, she had some issues removing the IUD. She kept raising her voice with me saying that it was my fault that this wasn’t going according to plan. She got the IUD out with the help of her assistant. I was very upset and embarrassed at this point. When a gynecologist or anyone for that matter is by your genitals. It puts you in a very vulnerable position, They then proceeded to re-insert a new IUD. The doctor didn’t seem confident. And it became a struggle for her to re-insert the IUD. I didn’t know or understand what was going on. Just that she kept raising her voice at me and she sounded panicked. She told me “if you would stop clenching this will go a lot easier” I apologized. When a person is in the position I was in. Your body starts to react involuntarily that amount of stress caused to that part of the body. Half way through the re-insertion procedure the doctor got very upset with me. She left the clamp on my vagina and demanded that her and her assistant start all over. Brand new with another new IUD. The way she was speaking to me and how painful this procedure had become made me start crying. I was in tears, and the doctor didn’t stop or offer comfort. She just demanded that her assistant go get me a stress ball to squeeze until the procedure was over. I waited in the room for the assistant to come back with a new IUD and they started all over again. Several minutes passed and it became unbearably painful. So I asked the doctor to stop, I told her something was wrong. I said this should not be this painful or take this long to complete. She sounded panicked and told me she didn’t feel comfortable going any further so she got up and said she had to do what was best for her. Then she told me there would be some blood and that it was totally normal to poke holes in the uterine walls during this procedure and that I would have a little bleeding. I said what do you mean “poke holes?” And she just left the room. No instruction no information. I looked down and there was blood all over the lower half of my body and a pool of my blood that had dripped on to the floor. 6inches wide and there was blood all over the chair they had me sitting on. And blood had run down all over from the chair to the floor. I started to cry again. I called my family right away I told them what happened. They calmed me down. The doctor didn’t leave me with any wiping pads to clean myself up. The room I was in didn’t have a working sink or any thing to clean myself up with. So I wiped down what I could. Got dressed and went to the bathroom. When I came out of the bathroom I asked the staff if I could see a manager. And explained what happened. The manager was shocked. She profusely apologized and said that is not normal practice for their facility, she checked with the assistant that was witness to the entire procedure, and she apologized again and said that she would be giving that doctor a coaching. And said that at any point if I was visibily uncomfortable or if the doctor was at any point struggling or not confident in the procedure that she should have stopped completely. And the bed side manner along with not giving sanitary wipes after was unacceptable. DO NOT COME HERE. Go else where.
The doctors and nurses are top notch. Informative and clarifying. Front desk has no chill, but they are probably tired of having to be bouncers. There’s rarely a wait unless you’re late. Especially if you’ve been there before and they have your details on file already. I feel safe and protected here. I hope they receive a lot of support, backing, and protection, because they do a lot for the community and it’s appreciated.
Absolute waste of time and money. My normal Dr was booked up, and my insurance was ending in a few days, so I made an appointment here to get my prescription. They never ended up sending my prescription even though I confirmed the pharmacy address several times! I got told I dont know what happened, the manager(?) is gonna give you a call back while I was on my way to the AIRPORT. I told them I was about to hop on a flight and they couldnt care less. Needless to say nothing got back to me before my insurance ended. I wasted an hour in the waiting room and paid for a co-pay for absolutely nothing. Pitiful.
Great place to get testing and treatment done! Located on 2nd floor across from the parking garage. (90 min. free parking). Thank you to all the wonderful ladies there who do such a great job. 🙏
I loved the energy, I showed up minutes late and they were able to accommodate me. This is by far best location I have been to, very clean, nice and cold and barely any wait time.
Always clean and positive. i feel very safe in this location than the one near my house lol. shoutout to my fav Nurse Karina C.H 💗💗
I had a great experience at the Planned Parenthood in Santa Monica! The Nurse Leslie was so sweet and kind and explained everything so clearly! I really recommend this place! :))
Called my local PP after my gyno said the next appointment available to get the arm implant birth control was 5 months out. This PP location had appointments available day of if I wanted! I booked my appointment for 3 days later and it was a great experience. Staff are super friendly and their clinic was comfortable, safe, and clean. Both the assistant and PA were happy to answer all my questions and were friendly and nonjudgemental. They walked me through all the steps of the procedure. After speaking with them I felt confident with my decision going into getting the implant. The procedure was so quick and painless. I went late morning on a Thursday and was in and out in less than an hour — wasn’t crowded at all. And the appointment/everything was covered by my insurance so I had no out of pocket costs, which was great! Thank you, to the lovely ladies who run the Santa Monica PP!
I was only 10 minutes late to my appointment, the location is incredibly hard to find and they wouldn’t even accommodate a walk-in.
I was a little late for my appointment but as it was an early one this didn’t mess things up too badly and everyone was very kind about it. The reason I was late was parking so if you’re having trouble there’s a lot on the corner of 4th street. Google maps took me to an alley lol.Aside from my tardiness the staff was super sweet and kind. I was there for birth control and was in and out in almost exactly an hour. I can’t emphasize enough how sweet everyone was.If you’re in need of services, this location is great. Also, it’s not a standalone building and I felt safe and not harassed at all in my walk into the building. Thank you ladies!!!
Confusingly inefficient. The people are incredibly nice, but that’s the only thing positive about my experience. I created an appointment online, submitting my insurance information, only for them to scan my insurance card and send it for verification once I arrived for my appointment. I scheduled the appointment for 1:10 and wasn’t seen until 1:55
As always They help no matter the cause. They can be busy at time so just be patient with then but they will get the job done.
My favorite Planned Parenthood location. Staff is always friendly and helpful.
Edit September 2023: The medical staff and their medical services are good so the first review that I have left in Dec 2022 about that is ok. Their administration and billing department and front desk are just scandalous. The lady at the front desk told me that my insurance card doesnt work with them (which was already weird because I have checked previously with my insurance that it does) and that I will have to pay the service and provided me with a cost estimation which I agreed to pay because it was urgent for me. At the end of the visit she provided me with a bill after I paid ($261) and told me that I can send it to my insurance for a refund (which was again weird since she told me at the beginning that it wont work with my insurance). I did submit the claim to my insurance and they approved that I should have paid only $79.21 and not $261 and they asked me why I didnt give my id card at the beginning to PP so they can run it directly through the insurance -I said I Did give my id card but they refused it at the front desk saying it doesnt work with them. My insurance sent a check to PP on 2/2/23 to cover the cost and PP should have refunded me the difference between $261 that I have paid and $79 that I should have paid after it was run through my insurance. So I called the PPs billing department a few times regarding this matter in February -March and finally from the billing department they told me that as soon they receive the check from my insurance they will process the refund for me and that it would take few weeks. We are in September now and I still dont have the refund. This is just impossible. I will call them again. It is not big money but it is the terrible front desk and administration service where they dont do the stuff right and the billing department which is incredibly slow. I wont visit this place anymore hopefully.Dec2022: Very nice and friendly medical staff and good service. Went there after taking the appointment online just the day before, and finished all in an hour.
Came for 11am screening appt on a thursday and was seen quickly. I reccoment arriving a little early to fill out paperwork if you havent been to this location. The staff is very respectful, experienced and caring.
Had an appointment . They wanted me to wait 3 hours with an appointment. Even showed up 20 minutes early to my appointment. Don’t go here waist of time . Staff could care less . Super rude .
Clean place good customer service very professional staff and doctors
Literally the most incompetent people on the planet. Not friendly, rude, messed up my appointment twice and messed up my prescription 4 times!!! Sloppy and unorganized and don’t care about their patients.
Maria the receptionist who answered the phone was extremely rude and continuously cut me off while I tried to explain my reasons for booking my appointment. Ive been there multiple times and yes this isnt my first time experiencing the other rude conversations Ive had in the past, but this one was different. She Accused me of committing fraud because I truly didnt know the answer to a question of hers (and didnt even explain it properly)was consistently talking over me like a 6 year old trying to win the argument. It was beyond inappropriate especially if your telling your personal business to a stranger, and now I truly feel after that conversation, it wont stay confidential. She will continue to act unprofessional with an attitude and rude mannerisms , who clearly enjoys degrading patients with personal issues who didnt even have the decency to give her last name, and is clearly having a bad day, shouldnt be taking calls.
Could not afford the appointment I needed here. Unemployed and don’t have insurance. Financial hardship at its finest. All they could do was lower the cost by 15% . I always thought PP had a sliding scale but apparently not. Now I have to find an appointment elsewhere.
One of the better ones for sure, especially in comparison to the Midwest ones. Youll always have a wait, so bring something to keep you occupied. I think the services are worth the wait definitely. Everyone there is super nice and keeps it real with personal experiences and the treatments.
I have only visited the Santa Monica, 3rd street location twice but on both occasions I had an excellent experience. Kudos to the receptionist, she is very helpful, polite and cheerful and I had to write about my experience for those who may feel a little uncomfortable like I was initially. The rest of the staff is very informative and answered all my questions and made me feel extremely comfortable. I really appreciate the services offered and the manner in which they are handled. Thank You Planned Parenthood 3rd Street clinic!
I have never felt more cared for by health professions :) Yes, it did take a bit longer than I would have liked but it was totally worth it. They answered all the questions I had, and I could tell that they all really cared about my well being. Everyone was very friendly and I got what I needed.
I’m 17 and this was my first time going, i was a little nervous at first only because it was my first time and i went to get birth control. Everyone was so nice and calm and if i was confused of anything and i asked a question , they answered very politely and explained everything very well. i really liked my experience there and i will be going back if i need anything else !
If you walk in expect to wait but if you have an appointment it is normally not too bad. The service is wonderful. They have helped me with things I never thought I could afford. I am so grateful for there service and education.
In and out on time and very professional. Took ten minutes to come out after scheduled appointment and wait for my scripts and then 25 min more to receive them. Appointment got me in quickly, there was plenty of people.
They made me wait 20 minutes outside for then told me that I had missed the appointment. Very bad service. I do not recommend it.
Made me wait 45 minutes and fill out all paper work only to reject me because they aren’t contracted with my (very common) insurance. I made the appointment online and gave my insurance information as well... could have saved a lot of time if they had a system that worked and told patients this ahead. Never going here again.
I was really worried because all the reviews said they were rude, etc. but everyone there was super nice to me and didnt make me feel judged at all. Ill definitely have this has my to-go for birth control
Turned me away for potentially being exposed to covid, although hasnt everyone potentially been exposed? I have no symptoms. Wasted 30 minutes driving because I couldnt make an appointment online, and calling results in an hour on hold without anyone answering. This is absolutely rediculous
HOLD TIMES WHEN CALLING WOULD MAKE ANYONE HANG UP AND GO ELSEWHERE (OR WORSE, NOT GET TREATMENT). I was on hold over 45 minutes on two different days. While I donate to PP and believe in their mission this needs to be addressed by administration ASAP.
Starting with everyone here is sooo rude they charged me for a service that i never got. Then what a girl on the phone told me had nothing to do with what they told me in person. I literally waste 2 hours of my day for nothing. Like girls!!! Usually we are not there cause we want to and they make the experience even more uncomfortable!!!
Very long wait, even with appointment. The wait to get in is aboht 2-3 hours long. Staff isnt helpful.Glad thats theres a Plan Parent Hood, but if you have something to do the day you come in. Dont bother. Going here is a all day thing. Been to many other Plan parenthoods but this one is the most I had to wait.3 hours wait!!!
Longest time ever for test results. Wont give preventative medication like other clinics. I used to come here regularly years ago but I will never come back again.
Nicest people best staff fast and efficient for my girlfriend to get implant bc
Horrible scam!! Paid $400 for visit and to have bloodwork done. Never received results. Office advised they called and sent test results which THEY DID NEITHER. Now to get my blood work results I already paid for they are requiring me to schedule an appointment with a technician and pay additional money just to see my results.Don’t go here
Briana Willis is just the best ❤ thank you for being such a nice person and make me feel comfortable during my appointment.
Waited for 2.5 hours before I left for bc refills! Most the other people there had waited even longer. Meanwhile you can see the staff standing around chatting in the back
Never return calls, reschedule appointment and help with anything, longest time waiting for a doctor to come see you, unprofessional and disrespectful.
I waited 4 hours for a single HPV shot. The staff is good.but be prepared to spend your whole day in the waiting room
Was told by management that typically with an appointment it could take up to two hours to be seen. Would not recommend this location if you are in a pinch for time.
Very helpful and kind
We stan this planned parenthood!! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
First they keep you on the phone for like 40 minutes, just to set up an appointment and then they tells you that is going to be wayyy more expensive than going to a private ob doctor....
Efficient, clean, professional and very friendly. Thanks Leslie. 👌🏽
Such friendly and caring staff! I have always felt safe and comfortable when going there.
It’s sad I have to leave this review because I been coming to this location for long time. I suggest another location
Carina was great help and super nice highly recommend you go to this location
Great service and friendly staff. Be good to them, and they’ll be good to you... that’s all. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
They used to be really really good but not anymire the new hire are not kniwledgeable
Good serves
Nice staff and very reassuring.
DONT GO! Will try to scam you out of money and refuse treatment until you pay
Terrible unprofessional service. Had to wait over three hours for just birth control.
Very good service, I feel very good the way they treat me
A great and necessary resource for all women.
Awful service .
I felt that the wait was too long, although I made an appointment at 2.35pm, I managed to get through at 4pm... but once inside everything was very good, excellent, I would say the person who helped me was very kind and cheerful... I congratulate the lady who helped me, God. Bless her although I dont remember her name, I came away very satisfied... I recommend the place
