Having patients sign in on a kiosk with a filthy screen is a huge health hazard. The whole place has a grimy feel to it. Restroom was not especially clean. And water stains in ceiling tiles in the waiting area and the lab room indicates possible mold issues. I wont be coming back here. The two stars are for the phlebotomist, who was very kind.
Without a doubt, one of the best Sonora Quest locations that I have visited. -- A well ran site, wherr the amazing team never skipped a beat even during the pandemic. The staff is some of the hardest working, super efficient, skilled and superstars in customer service!I would like to mention Slona, especially, who was my phlebotomist during my last visit. As a professor in medical education myself, she embodies all the characteristics that we try so hard to teach to our students!
Not only did they forget to do one of the lab tests my Dr. ordered, I also had to wait a half hour to be seen when I had made an appointment in advance. I will never use ths lab again. I suggest you dont either!
I am writing this on behalf of my daughter Alexis Avalos who received services at Sonoran Quest Labs. Because of the nature of this complex matter and the fact she is on our family medical insurance I have intervened. She was instructed by her physician to complete lab work at the SQ Lab in their building. The Lab order was billed to our insurance carrier and was denied on the basis of the NPI number. I made my first contact with the billing office and was told I had to pay the total of $420 regardless. I spoke to a supervisor and he told me he was surprised I had questioned the bill and went this far to correct it. He did say I could contact the physician office and have them send documentation supporting the services under the local NPI. I did and they the physician gladly sent it to SQ Labs. SQ labs did not accept it and refused to bill my insurance. I contacted my insurance carrier and they said they would pay once claim submitted with the local NPI number. SQ has not offered any resolution in this matter despite my efforts. Billing is extremely rude and not at all supportive in resolving this matter. I would never use them in the future.
I had the craziest worst experience ever getting a covid test here. Phase 1: I made an appointment for it on the Sonora Quest website which repeatedly said the test would be free to me provided I used my insurance. When I got there a fairly surly woman tried to shove the largest thing known to humanity up my nose for a swab. When I asked if there was something smaller she said yes but you cant use that one because thats not the one you ordered. I told her there were no options on the website for the type of covid test. I simply chose a location and made the appointment. She literally couldnt explain how much less the smaller swab would go up my nose, but I told her lets give it a try. We did, it worked, and then she said to talk to her manager about whether or not it would be covered because of the different sized swab than what was allegedly ordered. When I talked to the manager I was directed to she said Im not the manager and we cant do anything to assure your test gets processed. Here, call this number. She gave me a piece of paper with a number on it. When I called them, the two different people I spoke to said there would be no problem with having the test processed and that the very large swab the woman was trying to put up my nose was actually for a throat culture.phase 2: getting the results. I couldnt, despite following the website instructions and creating an account while signing up for the test from hell. after several attempts to find the test results under my account I had to get someone from their customer support to email me the results.phase 3: the bill. this would be the bill I wasnt supposed to get. Sonora Quest is now charging me $39. I have so far called three times about it and each time have been told a supervisor was not available but would get back to me. I wont be paying that bill. I will be telling everyone never to use Sonora Quest. I literally dont understand how they are in business.Postscript: as I was about to post this review a supervisor finally called me back. He told me there was a disclaimer on the website. While I had him on the phone I went through the exact same steps on the website I had gone through the last time to schedule a covid test. I clicked on the button that said you can get a free covid test if your insurance is eligible. Then after putting in a ton of info about symptoms etc. I got a big green check mark with big green letters that said you are eligible for a free covid test. He alerted me to the * next to it that says below it, in smaller print, not green, you might be subject to certain deductibles or copays from your insurance. I told him this was deceptive practice and who really, especially when youre sick, is going to look at what it says after that little * after youve just gotten the big green writing saying you are eligible for a free covid test replete with a checkmark! I asked him to remove the $39 charge. He would not. He assured me he would alert the marketing department to the problem with making it seem like the covid test is 100% covered. I assured him I would be finishing the review I was in the middle of writing when he called. How are they still in business??? Arent there laws against deceptive marketing practices?? Or trying to shove a tree branch up someones nose for a covid test???
Ramon took my blood and Ive never met a phlebotomist so sweet! I get scared and almost always faint but he chatted with me!
This location needs more sensitivity towards the aging/disabled population. Having them sign in on a kiosk with tiny font is just the beginning- offering to holler instructions across the desk out into the lobby is ludicrous and potentially viloates HIPPA/comprimises patient privacy. There was also a hearing impaired individual who couldnt make out when they called out his name with blaring loud lobby television.
They make you sit and wait for an hour! Or you can make an appointment weeks out. When you need bloodwork done, you need it right away! What a joke of a lab! Cares nothing for patients.
They are getting a lot better here. New systems make scheduling an appointment easier. Their website also does a very nice job of tracking and charting your various test results over time. I find this info easy to review and very helpful.DO NOT come without an appointment in the AM unless you have plenty of time on your hands. This morning there was standing room only in the waiting room and new arrivals without appointments were told to expect and hour to 90 minute wait. I had an appointment and was in and out in 20 minutes however.Quick update, April 2024: this location is no longer crowded in the afternoon starting about noon. The last few times I arrived for my appointment (made online) there was no wait.
I’ve used this lab from time to time, quick & efficient; always friendly and accommodating - ignore those snowbird haters😉
I have often been told by staff that they have not received my test order when I arrive here. On this occassion, it is a critical situation. Today I was told that it may take five days for them to receive a faxed order- absolutely unacceptable- you are dealing with peoples lives here. Why not bail on faxes and move to emails?
Terrible experience. They keep you waiting and do nothing. They didn’t get all the information they need at the first place. Let you waiting and waiting, then ask the information one hour later without any progress.
I do not ever leave reviews, but I feel like this one is so necessary. If you are looking for a place for pediatric blood draws, go here. Alena and the staff that helped is amazing. Thank you for making this difficult process so easy
Absolutely best blood draw ever! I have small veins, making having blood drawn a nightmare. The phlebotomist was exceptional. No usual bruise either.
I’ve been coming to this lab for the last 2 years. Every time the phlebotomist who draws my blood has been gentle and skilled. I book my appointments online and there’s no waiting time. Highly recommended.
I have had to get repeated blood work during the past month and a half and the phlebotomists at this location have put my queasy self at ease every time. I am so grateful for their compassion during one of the most difficult times for me health-wise. I cannot recommend their services more and the processing times for the labs were always very prompt with access through a user-friendly portal. Very grateful!
Came here for blood work. Kind of disappointed when older patients would walk in and ask for help at the kiosk, a worker named Elizabeth (I believe was her name) shook her head, rolled her eyes, and said something rude under her breathe before walking out to help the patient. This happened twice but the second time was the worst reaction. The gentleman was so nice and apologized multiple times. You work in Oro Valley… this is a retirement community, please have some patience for the older community as technology isn’t easy for everyone. Some patients are hard of hearing and/or have trouble seeing and just need some extra help.
Love this lab! All the people who work here are super friendly and kind. I used to dread having blood drawn as I had horrific experiences. Everyone that I have had do a draw for me has been awesome. No appointment and I was in and out in under 20 minutes.
I came in this morning after trying twice at my PCP Office to get bloodwork done. I have issues with either passing out or throwing up with needles, and being a pincushion is NOT my idea of a fun time had by all. After voicing my concerns, staff was amazing! Front desk was friendly and the wait time was short. After one easy poke I was done! I left without even feeling lightheaded during my visit. Thank you! I will definitely come back to this location!
Have had plenty of blood tests over the years, and these people seemed to have more trouble drawing blood than any we have dealt with yet. Their confidence levels were low, took 3 different techs to finally get some blood. Ignored our recommendation to use the hand as prior experience showed us this is clearly the best. They finally ended up using the hand and it worked (what a surprise). First and last time to use this particular lab. Photo shows the results of one of the failed attempts.
Im not really sure why the score for this one is so low. I was able to get in and out and under 20 minutes with no appointment. The staff was friendly and on point. Granted it was a very business-like transaction but thats the kind of thing that I appreciate when going in for blood work. The young lady who did my drop was excellent. She hit the vein on the first shot and I didnt feel the thing. I highly recommend this lab
Everything went smoothly this morning. Normally in the past everyone is grumpy, but today the vibe was a bit different—everyone seemed in better moods. Octavius was my phlebotomist today and they were so great. No pain at all and super friendly. Check in was smooth using the kiosk and work order. I do recommend maybe putting an instruction poster during check-in for people who may not know how to use the kiosk. There were quite a few people that didn’t know and the kiosk had to be restarted which caused frustration with the front desk. Just a suggestion for the business process team to improve the flow of check-ins. Overall, great service today.
I can’t say enough how impressed I was with Elena! I have had nightmare experiences with other labs. I wasn’t even sure she stuck me before she was through filling multiple vials! I am no longer afraid to go have blood drawn! No more multiple attempts and excuses! Yay!!! The rest of the experience was exceptional also, from check-in to prompt service for my appointment time. I won’t go anywhere else. Thanks and God bless you Sonora Quest, Oro Valley!
First off I want to stay that the people who work here do a wonderful job. I have to admit that I was very surprised as to how busy this place is! In the DFW Metroplex with a population of 7.5 million I could walk into a Quest to get a blood draw and walk out 15-20 minutes later. This place had an hour wait without an appointment. I went home to make an appointment and I could not get in for an entire week! The next day I arrived there at 7 AM and 4 people were already waiting in line to get their work done. One client said they had to wait 2 hours not too long ago. This tell me that Quest needs to find a larger facility in Oro Valley and hire more personnel.
The lab techs at this facility are the slowest I have ever seen. It does not take 20 minutes a patient to take a simple blood draw. They spend more time walking around upfront yacking than working from what I can see. The waiting room is filled with patients and the lab techs come up front to do the receptionists work. Its pretty obvious these girls dont like their job. The manager needs to give some of them a swift kick in the rear to get them to work harder or get new techs to replace them. Making old frail people wait an hour to get a lab test done is simply terrible.Follow Up: 6-7-21Today I went back to the same place without an appointment and to be fair I knew it would be a wait but this was crazy. Absolutely nothing has changed. I waited 1 1/2 hours to get a test. I finally went up to the desk and asked the girl how much longer. She said 30 minutes more so I left in frustration. Every appointment that came in got put in front of me on the overhead screen. So no matter how long you are waiting they dont give a damn they put the appointment ahead of you and you sit there. There are a lot of frail elderly people at this site and to make them sit for 2 hours or more to get a test they may need STAT is a disgrace. Im sorry but if somebody is waiting for 2 hours they should immediately be moved to the head of the line appointment or not. Not everybody has the luxury of being able to make an appointment weeks in advance. The staff reminded me of people working at the State DMV in slow motion it was that bad. Once again with a room full of people they went on break and yacked to each other. This facility is either understaffed or under motivated or both. Do not go to this place without an appointment or you will be sorry.
Wow! Worst customer service from the front desk gals!! Telling an elderly couple they dont have time to help them so go sit down..... I get having a bad day but to be so short with people in the 80s/90s!! Come on!Telling a younger man they cant help him because he didnt bring his paperwork. He asked if he could email the paperwork directly to Sonora Quest. The response from the front desk was - why dont you make sure you have your paperwork on your phone before I waste my time writing my email out. Unbelievable!I handed over my paperwork and insurance card and stood at the counter for a good while until the gal says - you need to go sit down now. We, as customers, do not know your rules or what you want us to do. Communicate!Next time, I will drive further so I dont have to go to this location. Be nice!
Staff is very friendly and explained everything well! They were unfamiliar with my insurance but worked through it with me rather than just saying they didnt accept it like other labs. They do accept my insurance!! Making appointments are very easy online too. But if your not computer savvy staff can schedule you no problems !
Normally the Innovation all Valley location is wonderful. However I showed up this morning after fasting for 12 hours to find a sign on the door saying they are unexpectedly closed. This totally screws up my meeting with my doctor on Friday morning. There was a person in the office but they weren’t taking anyone in. Bad customer experience especially after fasting and being hungry
Absolutely horrible customer service. This pandemic is no excuse for how they treat customers. There are only 5 chairs space apart in the waiting room, and no mote than 5 people are permitted in the waiting room. Everyone else has to wait outside in 100+ degree heat and no place to sit or water. The rules are harsh, but the front desk is harsher. The folks behind the computers are slow and have no care for patients needs. As long as they get their paycheck, they sit there and do as little as possible. Wait times are really bad too. Do yourself a favor, NO NOT GO HERE
They are busy so you usually have you wait awhile, and appointments book out at least a week. However, they take walk-ins and the staff is friendly.
First time here. It could not have been more pleasant from reception to exit. And all this in spite of no appointment and many other clients. Thank you.
Doctor had to send lab order twice to them because they didnt have the last one on file for no apparent reason. Completely wasted my time having to try to get in contact with my doctor to get labs faxed over while already arrived at the Sonora quest. Why dont they check these things in advance?
What a rude unprofessional staff! An older gentleman came in and instead of helping him they rudely told him to just figure it out. I will never come back here. What a nightmare of stuff and I feel so sorry for the patient. Have compassion or dont do this job.
Im extremely unhappy with the fact that Sonora Quest Labs in Oro Valley stopped using the stretchy wraps for when you get blood work. As someone that must have the INR checked once a week, the gauze that they are using just doesnt work. They cant get it tight enough so I often bruise. The staff is very good and its causing trouble for them, too. Is Sonora Quest trying to save money? Its just ridiculous and they wont let you bring your own. Im really tired of this.
Crystal drew my husbands blood. She was kind, efficient and didnt leave a bruise. My husband is on blood thinners an seldom ever leaves the lab without getting a bruise from the blood draw. Great job Crystal.
My wife had a hemoglobin A1C done. This lab coded fatigue and the insurance did not pay as a result. They refused to change it despite many calls and e-mails. They would not contact the doctor. Don’t use this lab.
Worst customer service ever!!!!! For me, getting my blood drawn is not fun and scary. These guys hate their job and it shows in the way they treat people. Try being kind. Ps. If zero stars were an option that’s what they deserve.
I had to put a star but I dont give any. Its the worst place. Go somewhere else. The woman who works in front desk she is inhuman and very arrogant. It is my first and last time I come to this place. The worst place sonora quest in oro valley az
In for routine tests. Ahead of time, used web site for appointment, worked great. Good reception, quick automated sign-in, and skilled and pleasant technician. Will gladly go back.
I went on Friday to make pregnancy testThey told me you will receive it with in one day ...They didn’t tell me that they close Saturday and Sunday..I didn’t recieve them until know..I tried to call them they transferred my call and no one answered..I will never come back
Heard employees and patients were exposed to toxic fumes the last 2 days and supervisor didnt close building Im very worried about the safety of everyone.
Always efficient. I don’t usually make an appointment so sometimes I have a little wait, usually not a long one.
Waited over an hour. Eight people waiting to be seen and they take a lunch break at 11:00 in the morning and leave one person to help everyone.
Safe place to have lab work done. Staff is very nice and professional.
They were on time. In and out and the staff was friendly. Plus you can see your results online.
Horrible wait times. Front desk extremely rude. Definitely go to another location.
Impossible to speak with a human being. I have been calling for 2 days trying to verify that an order has been received. No one answer!
Better than the average lab, people working there are professional and friendly.
Front office help can be nasty. Unclean in my opinion.
Employees were rude and sarcastic! Will not use this location again?
Friendly staff short wait. Painless blood draw.
Easy check- in process, professional environment with friendly staff.
Very clean and very efficient blood lab!
Quick and courteous service. Very friendly staff.
Staff friendly and professional with our small children.
BEATS THE HECK OUT OF LABCORP HANDS DOWN LOL!!!
