I came to this appointment and was treated horribly by staff. Let me just start with I am a Black man and had a durag on because it was raining. My appointment was with Dr. Julian A. Torres Isasiga. A minute over the grace period I was approached by multiple nurses and told to go back outside and someone will come to me and reschedule even though the doctor was contacted via MyChart the doctor couldn’t even speak up and confirm them he just let this embarrassing situation happen and told me to go somewhere else. I have been coming here before this placed was renamed and was stunned to be treated like trash in full public view of everyone.I saw this doctor before there were no issues this new attendant felt it was ok to talk to me like trash and no one spoke up. Even as I took this picture the nurse taunted me for making a complaint about this behavior.
I loved doctor amatos riding her tenure, Julian Torres has given me excellent care, but I recently had my pre screening with MD Torres’s Fellow, Alexander (sorry I missed your last name) and WOW, just such a knowledgeable, kind., understanding, meet-you-where-you-are, inquisitive-in-a-non-invasive-way, good spirited and just helpful in every imaginable way. THANN YOU FELLOW ALEX. Even when calling me to test results I was given a full breakdown and Kiki.Thank you oval center for always delivering. Walk-in hours advertised on the voice message are false, they only take walk in hiv testing and pep.
Before visiting, I looked at the reviews of this facility and was delighted to see such wonderful comments. However, I wish I had the same experience as them. The issue I see is that they are not trained in professional behavior. They must be on making money, but they forget how to treat clients. They dont even realize that what they say has an impact on a persons life. In all aspects, they are only focused on making money without any conscience. I do not recommend this clinic and its doctors to anyone.
I cant sing their praises here enough! I just moved to the area last year and had trouble finding a PCP so I booked an appt here for routine testing on a whim. I was drawn to them since theyre queer friendly. Since then, Ive been back multiple times, and have never had a bad experience. Ive always been seen in a timely manner and gotten my results back promptly as well. Everyone is respectful and has great bedside manners, and they are wonderful at keeping an open line of communication with me either over the phone or on the my chart portal. Not only were they able to handle my testing needs, but Ive also been able to get birth control and see a psychiatrist on site. This may not be considered a PCP location but Ive had such a positive experience that Im not interested in going anywhere else. I have to get on 2 buses/travel an hour to get here but its worth it!
Before visiting, I looked at the reviews for this center and was happy to see such wonderful reviews. I wish I had the same experience as them, though. The issue Im seeing is the staff are not trained on what is professional behavior. They are mainly work focused but forget about customer service or bedside manner.During my first visit, one of the doctors made a strange comment about one of my request and dismissed my pain because SHE was uncomfortable. To my understanding, doctors should WORK with patients. Remember, this is about the patients health and well being.Another incident was staff reading messages Ive sent but not replying to them. Even if they were unable to give me a response, referring me to someone else, or even just letting me know that theres a wait time, would suffice. The manager handled it POORLY. From the first incident to the second one, he made excuses for his staffs behavior and wanted me to understand where they are coming from, over my own medical needs. When I brought up the issue again, he literally said he doesnt remember that I reported anything before. Which is a full out lie! I will say, the second Doctor reached out to me and apologized, which was appreciated. As I always say, issues within a company or organization starts from leadership. Not too surprised. My hope is they give these managers proper training on how to train their staff, or find someone else to replace him. Unfit.
Let me tell you of the most wonderful first experience I had with the Oval Center.I call early Tuesday morning hoping to get a few questions answered and hoping to schedule my first appointment for later in the week. The receptionist, Justin I believe, was so kind and sweet, answered every question above and beyond. Just two hours later I am in their office filling out paperwork and about to meet my Doctor. Dr. Bernardo was a wonderful human who treated me like a a patient and a friend. He listened, offered suggestions, and worked with me. Blood work was done in a painless flash by a pro whom I feel bad I cant remember their name. Lastly My counselor Krystal a godsent human being who made sure I knew she was there to help with anything. All of this happened in roughly 90 minutes and I then walked out the door smiling and down the street to pick up my first prescription.Wonderful people, I feel blessed to have found them and look forward to going back for my check ups.
Good staff but my only problem is I was a few mins late because of traffic and they rescheduled my appointment until the next week when my matter was urgent. Mind you they close at 5 and my appointment was at 4:40… which makes no sense because of rush hour, I called and said i’d be a few minutes late and that I was stuck in traffic just for the guy to say ok just try to get here as quick as you can. Got there at 4:47 and got turned back around. Unbelievable, wasted time and cab fare
I owe my life to the people here, I had these weird symptoms that my doctor and a specialist didn’t know what it was so i decided to call here. The doctor got on the phone asked me a few questions over the phone and knew what it was they demanded that I came in right away and not the next day, I’m glad i did. When I arrived they treated me with respect and care I wasn’t just a number to them like most clinics. When I left I wanted to give them a hug. They were helpful caring and understanding. Not once did they make me feel embarrassed or ashamed. I would never go to another clinic.
THIS PLACE IS UNPROFESSIONAL! DO NOT BOTHER going here. I SPENT OVER $100 in Ubers for them to cancel my appointment for 1 minute pass appointment time. THEY ARE NOT EQUIPPED TO BE RUNNING ANY TYPE OF HEALTHCARE SYSTEM AND I WILL BE REPORTING THEM TO THE STATE.
I had read the reviews prior to going to the Oval Center and they were great reviews, however, I had to see for myself to quell my skepticism. I have to say unequivocally, they are efficient, professional, attentive, well mannered and humorous!!! I would recommend them to anyone!!!
The best decision Ive ever made!
Each & every one of the staff members from the front desk , to nurses, to my Endocrinologist, treats me with the utmost respect. Thank you for allowing me into your community. Thank you for treating me like a human being.
