These doctors are horrible. For my first pregnancy I had Dr.Smith who just rushed through every appointment. When I got pregnant for the second time, he denied ever being my doctor. How do u deny that when I have pics of you with my baby after delivery?! But I thought, ok thats fine..Ill go with someone else. I got Dr.Pyatek for my second pregnancy. I had an IUD at that time that moved out of place and was told I had a 70% chance of losing the baby if it wasnt removed, but I was told he couldnt remove it. So I ended up going to the ER and it was removed with no problem! Dr. Pyatek had absolutely no personality and was always tired from working at the hospital and then coming to the office for appointments afterwards. It was really bad when he REFUSED to visit me in the HOSPITAL HE WORKS IN (Mary Washington) about a month after performing my C-section and tubal litigation that landed me in the hospital for 12 DAYS because it got infected! All the other doctors were puzzled as to why he never visited his patient in the hospital after he botched the surgery! Lets fast forward...I ended up pregnant again after the alleged tubal litigation and due to insurance I was limited to where I could go. I never wanted to see Dr. Smith or Dr.Pyatek again so I ended up with a female doctor. I only saw her maybe twice so I cant remember her name but the first thing she offered was an abortion. I opted to see how things would go even though it was very unexpected since I believed my tubes were tied less than two years earlier, but this unexpected pregnancy resulted in miscarriage. I was not treated with any type of sympathy or care for someone who was experiencing a loss. Ill go without a doctor before I ever set foot in this place again!
Ive been a patient here for about 5-6 years now and I recommend them. I see Dr. Shuman as my primary doctor, but am sometimes scheduled with Dr. Bhat for more last-minute scheduling needs. Ive always loved Dr. Shuman; our personalities mesh very well together. I love Val, the ultrasound tech, who is currently out for an extender period of time due to surgery. Juanita in the reception area is also very nice. And the nurses, especially April, whos had much on her plate due to me with hyperemesis gravidarum lately, Makayla, who went out of her way to help me with an insurance thing and when we found out some great news, she called me to inform me and was so genuinely happy for me! And some of the other nurses who dont seem to be there anymore since I had my first child about 4 years ago, were wonderful. All of my regular care here has always been exactly what it should be. I come with a list of questions ready and my providers always take the time to answer my questions. The only less-than stellar experiences Ive ever had here were with a doctor who I dont think is there anymore and I dont quite remember his name, who I saw for mid-cycle uterine pain and he questioned whether it was just gas; I know the difference between those organs and how they feel, though I imagine thats hard for a male without a uterus to imagine the feeling of, and Dr. Pyatak, ONLY in that he was the one on call when I went into labor and had a C-section and I barely saw anything of him that day; its almost like he wasnt there lol. But the anesthesiologist and nurses were more involved that day. Most people dont seem to quite understand the time demands on doctors these days; they have TONS of patients to see and its just a fact that you dont see them as much as you see the nurse. It doesnt mean its bad care. Also, Ive only had two appointments (out of dozens over the years with prenatal and normal womens care) that were long waits. It happens sometimes. Sometimes patients before you come in and have a great deal going on unexpectedly and the doctor has to take longer than expected with them. One time my doctor was caught up at the hospital with a surgery as she was both on call there and at the practice and she couldnt help it. Im sorry to hear some of the experiences others have had on here. Ive always had a good experience with my usual providers at this practice. I highly recommend Dr. Shuman, but I do know shes leaving at some point in the not-too-distant future, so Im not sure shes taking new patients. Patients can also, I THINK right now expect them to refer you out for ultrasounds as the ultrasound tech is out for a few months, I believe, and I dont know whether they have a temp.tl;dr:Ive almost always had a good experience and good care at this place, out of dozens of appointments over more than 5 years.
Every visit has been a nightmare. First visit, they scheduled me end of day on a Friday, so they ran out of time to do my ultrasound, as they scheduled me at the facility that doesnt have a sonogram machine, meaning the technician would have left by the time I got to the other facility. So they had to reschedule my ultrasound separately for Monday. Two days I had to take leave from work. Then they had the audacity to complain about my lack of childcare on that Monday. The doctor forgot to tell me she had concerns about my health, and therefore forgot to tell me about the daily pills she wanted me to start taking. It took THREE WEEKS of calling and following up with them to get my records sent to another doctor. This last visit was just cruel. Called the day before to confirm my appointment for the next day. They confirmed, and said that I could bring my husband as well to the ultrasound. We arrived early the day of the appointment. We sit in the waiting room after signing in and getting our temperatures checked. The technician then informs the receptionists that I am somehow no longer a patient because I had my records sent to another doctor and have an appointment booked almost 3 weeks from then. She said that she wont do my ultrasound and pulled me and my husband aside to tell me so herself. This is the same technician that complained about my lack of child care when they rescheduled me last minute due to their mistake. I confirmed with both OB offices that I could keep that appointment while I was still waiting to be transferred to the other OB office. The new OB office even said that they do not consider me a patient of theirs until my first appointment. So, I have been waiting weeks for this appointment to find out the gender of our child and we were denied service because they didnt want to do it. My new OB heard what happened and they called this office to figure it out what happened and was met with hostility. Im so glad Im transferred. Their scheduling is a nightmare, and the doctor and the staff are completely unprofessional.
While I did not have a bad experience at this location, I will explain the rating.First off, we had to come to this location after we visited the other one the day before and were told that it was an on-call waiting location, where doctors will wait in case they are needed for surgery at the local hospital, so appointments were not guaranteed (we were not told that prior to arriving so be forewarned). As my wife is a teacher and I work days, we both had to take time off from work for both visits, which was annoying but not devastating.Second, upon arrival, this location looks very nice. The staff was very friendly with us (the ultrasound tech is a little lady with a cane and she was sweet as could be; LOVE her). We met with someone before the doctor who went over any questions and medical history with my wife and I (this is our first visit) before Dr. Brady came in. I will say that Dr. Brady was very helpful, answered all of our questions, and was very sweet to my wife. She even hugged my wife before we left. However, and this is nothing against Dr. Brady or anybody we met today: this practice will NOT take you on if you are a female with an at-risk BMI. The owner does not want to risk medical malpractice and whatnot. So as this information is not freely given, that is why I am giving three stars. Brady was very nice and even suggested a different doctor for us to visit for my wife (which we now have an appointment with) who will be able to see her even with her size. Thank you Dr. Brady for your help.
Had some mixed feelings about this place. Pros: I felt like the doctors that I saw were knowledgeable and made the right call with things during my pregnancy. I had a healthy and safe pregnancy and birth. They honored my concerns and questions and I felt I was really listened to. Cons: The ultrasound technician is horrific and unprofessional. Left the name of the patient before me up on the screen and then told me that there was a baby “scare” before me and discussed this patients pregnancy issue - talk about a HIPAA violation. She also went on to discuss stillbirths and miscarriages with patients with COVID right when the ultrasound wand was right on me (I had Covid during my second trimester and was due any day of the ultrasound) She had terrible bedside manners, was extremely sarcastic. There is also a medical assistant I had several times there, that couldn’t take blood pressure to save her life - she had the cuff way up high and said my blood pressure was high when I never had that issue before. She was forgetful and all over the place. She also would rub my pregnant belly when doing the heartbeat and it was very weird. She would rub her hand very low almost to my pubic bone and talk about how cute my belly was. It wasn’t cute what she was doing it was uncomfortable and I felt violated. She did this at several visits. I also hear the nurses at the nurses station talk loudly on the phone with test results and discussing other patients - this place is a HIPAA nightmare. The bathrooms and rooms are always filthy. And the wait time is insane. They also don’t do appointment reminders. This place just seems lackadaisical.
One star is being very generous. Doctor was nice but my issue isn’t really with the doctors although it wasn’t even the greatest service I’ve ever received. My REAL issue is with the BILLING department. She (1 woman operation apparently) claims to have sent my bill for my visit to my address but my address got “rejected” and instead of doing what any normal person would do when that happens, such as call or leave an email, she continued to send mail that continued to get “rejected”. Therefore, I had no way of knowing how much my bill was and that I had an outstanding balance to pay after however much insurance covered. So almost A YEAR later my bill got sent to collections. Now I have to pay the bill, the accumulated interest, and the attorneys fee all because the woman in billing cannot leave a 10 second voicemail stating I have an outstanding bill that needed to be paid. This woman also claims to be a 1 woman department with 40,000 patients. A 1 woman department in Fredericksburg/Spotsy?? GET REAL!! I find that very hard to believe and this woman along with the practice as a whole is running a scam without a doubt.Happy to pay the bill but how can I pay it if they don’t tell me?Woman in the billing department you are the mastermind behind this terrible operation. You are lazy, rude, and scamming people in what is already an expensive world we live in. She sounds bitter (because she is) about getting the same call 40,000 times a day for all her 40,000 patients whose addresses have been conveniently getting rejected so she can continue to scam people.
I went with my daughter for her second visit. As a CMA and RN student, this is the worst medical office I have ever seen. The Lab to draw blood was dirty, even though the lady was nice. The Dr that my daughter seen did not stay in the room no more then 3 minutes. She never checked my daughters chart to even see what medications she takes or why shes taking them. We were never I formed that the original Dr that seen my daughter had left and she was seeing another Dr in her place. When it was time to check our the confused office staff member didnt even know my daughters name, and even had there nerve to ask her was she pregnant. She stated the the Dr was supposed to tell my daughter the next time she needs to be seen. We went back to the nurse station and by this time I was upset and the nurse had the nerve to tell me to calm down. I was not yelling at all but shocked by the lack of communication that the whole office does not have, after I told her do not tell me to calm down she said she should come back in 4 weeks. WARNING TO DO NOT GO HERE LADIES. THE WORSE OFFICE I HAVE EVER SEEN.
I feel like a need to leave RWHC a good review because of all the horrible reviews on here. I feel like people are complaining a lot--and its kinda annoying. I received care here for my second pregnancy with Dr. Brady and she is one of the nicest people Ive ever met. I saw a complaint about her on here, and feel I should share my own experience. Every appointment, Dr. Brady showed me her undivided attention and showed that she really cares for her patients. When I brought up any concerns, she was quick to get them taken care of. When it was time for my delivery, she was wasnt able to personally deliver my baby because she had a surgery scheduled for that day, but she made sure I was in great hands with Dr. Bhat (who is also awesome btw and helped me to pull my baby out as she was being born--sounds weird, but incredible experience). Even though Dr. Brady wasnt able to personally deliver my baby, she still took time out of her day (mind you, she had family in town too and still took the time for me) to come and see me while I was in labor and even was able to break my water for me. Clearly, I have nothing but good things to say about her and appreciate all she did to make sure my baby and I were taken care of! Im giving 4 stars because, as people have mentioned, I also agree that some of the admin staff could be more friendly and personable to patients.
Went here for the first 14 weeks of my pregnancy before I finally switched and found much better service. They make you wait forever and then the doctor (Dr Khalilian) only spends maybe 4 minutes with you. They are also not VBAC friendly and actively discouraged me with outdated data. They also sent incorrect diagnostic codes to the lab department which created a billing nightmare in addition to their own billing mistakes. There were just so many problems and waiting for over an hour for 4 minutes with an unhelpful doctor wasn’t worth it. The ultrasound tech and nurses were great though.
I hardly write reviews so to me this is very important...First off, Dr. Leslie Meyer and one office worker, “D” is her nickname, are awesome. Too bad they can’t be at a better place...I had my prenatal care at Rappahannock Women’s Health Center and the first person I saw, a young midwife, didn’t seem to know what she was doing so I switched to another doctor. She was very rough and impersonal, rushed through appointments and made me feel like any question was a bother. They even misplaced my whole file and assumed I hadn’t been receiving prenatal care for months! Who does that!? That’s when I was going to leave but “D” convinced me to switch to Dr. Meyer. Also, no matter how early you are for appointments, you end up waiting forever to see your actual doctor. Could be hours, and no one cares! (Scheduling is a HUGE problem.)The last straw was today when I went in for my 6 week postpartum check. I got there 10 minutes before 9 and was told my doctor was delivering a baby (understandable) but that there were NO OTHER doctors available to see me. The receptionist stared blankly when I reacted with annoyance, acting like she could care less that my schedule was interrupted. This has happened many times before, either I had to be rescheduled before or if there was another doctor available I waited for AT LEAST 2 hours to see them.My time is valuable too and I’ve had enough problems with this place. I calmly walked out and called from the parking lot to schedule an appointment somewhere else for tomorrow.Hopefully for the sake of their patients, many who are vulnerable expectant mothers, they heed the negative reviews on here and make some serious changes.Bottom line:Sad to say but if you value your time and want to be treated like you matter, don’t go to Rappahannock Women’s Health.
I have been going to this practice for 7 years (and 5 pregnancies) because they have had great Nurse Midwives on staff in the past, but the care I received with the last pregnancy was not good. I have seen 4 different doctors in the practice and all of them except Dr. Bhat have one foot out the door every visit. You better have a list of concerns and speak quickly or you will not have your concerns checked or have time to even voice them. Then expect to have concerns shrugged off. Heaven help you if this is your first pregnancy because you will be pushed around and little explained to you about care, delivery, practices/procedures etc...The place is also just not cleaned well. I usually schedule first appointment of the day and the toilet seat and sink may be wiped but there is always still trash and soiled paper towels left on the urine sample station (see photo taken at 9am 5/11/22), the back of the toilet, floor, and dispensers have dust and water marks left on them, the rooms dont look any better. I spoke with the office manager and it was all denial and defense of the concerns I voiced concerning my care and the treatment I have received and even the cleanliness of the office so I dont expect that things will change any time soon. I will be leaving the practice as soon as possible, I just didnt want to have to switch mid-pregnancy. RWH-- I hope you wake up and realize you have some changes to make because by the looks of your ratings I am not the only patient you have given the run-around.
Ive been coming to this office since 2012. With my previous pregnancy, I was given a doctor in the practice that was complete quack. At 7 months pregnant she terrified me by saying that I had an STD and needed to run tests, only to find out that I did NOT in fact have any STDs, then tried to chalk up the test results to telling me I had cancer, also NOT true. They also dont call you with lab or test results. I have ALWAYS had to call them to find out results. I was then given the head doctor at this practice and felt extremely comfortable with her. So when I found out I was expecting again, I saw her throughout my pregnancy. Or would have. Numerous times I left work in Ashland to go to a Dr.s appointment only to have the office call me 10 minutes prior to the appointment to cancel, after driving all the way from Ashland. Then the doctor was supposed to be on call for my delivery and I ended up not even seeing my doctor one time while I was in the hospital, nor did she deliver me. Some other random Dr. that I didnt know delivered my child. Throughout my entire pregnancy a routine pap smear was put off until the next appointment ( which I never had) on my 6 week check up I scheduled surgery with my Dr. to have my tubes tied. After being scheduled for 3 weeks I received a phone call from the Dr.s office only to state that she would not be in the office that day and needed to cancel the surgery. The only available date for the surgery was either on my birthday or at the end of September. My baby was born at the beginning of April. Absolutely horrible communication, scheduling and follow through with this office. If you dont want to be pushed around and tossed to the side as if you dont matter at all, I wouldnt recommend this office. The front desk staff has always been incredibly kind and thoughtful. Ive seen poor reviews about them, but I honestly always loved them. I even brought my 4 year old son with me to many appointments and they were friendly, laughed with and spoke to him, they were just great. I think the midwife spoke to me and explained things to me more than anyone in the entire practice and I only saw her twice! The phlebotomist is an absolute doll! I just love her. Always friendly, and helpful and just as sweet as can be. The nurses arent very friendly, are really pushy and that is if you can even get them to speak to you at all. I only had one nurse who was even polite and she is no longer with the practice. Every single nurse I have had prior to or after have been downright rude and smart alec. I am incredibly dissatisfied with the level of care I have received in this practice, or rather the lack thereof! I wish I could give less than one star!
I cannot say enough about my midwife, Casey Harrison. She is amazing! She is so patient, compassionate and supportive. This was my 3rd pregnancy and she provided care the whole time. She supported me in my goal of a drug free birth and also through my own anxiety (I had a miscarriage the previous year so I was always on high alert). When it came time for delivery, we needed an induction, and she was there to start the induction. She also came in multiple times during the induction to check in with us and spent her whole lunch break with us bringing our daughter into the world. We were successful in our med free birth, and she kept the birthing process so special. I don’t know if we would’ve achieved our goal if it wasn’t for her. This was literally my dream birth. The room remained calm and low key and it never felt like we were in the hospital. If you’re looking for next level care, Casey is as good as it gets.
I have gone to this office since I was 15 years old. Dr Esposito was my doctor and she left this practice because they are a joke and I don’t blame her. My new Dr was Dr Baht and she coerced me into taking depo by refusing to write me a prescription for what had been taking for years. When I tried to renew my Depo they told me they don’t take refill requests by fax, they saw I had been requesting it daily for two weeks but still didn’t even bother to call. I was told tough, since I was late to get my depo done I had to see a doctor. Dr Brady was the doctor I was forced to see. I would have had to wait a full month to see Dr Baht. Dr Brady is the most unprofessional woman I have ever had the displeasure of meeting. She fired me as a patient and tried to refuse to even refill my Depo. She threw an absolute temper tantrum like a petulant little child. I am so glad I brought a witness to my last appointment. They are unbelievably awful here. **they will hold your medical records hostage and refuse to acknowledge their fax machine***
I’ve been a patient here for years. I used to See Dr Esposito, she was great, but she’s gone so I saw someone new. Over the weekend, I had a run in with a pregnancy scare at the ER. They told me to follow up with my OB. I called today to make an appointment for 7/9, and told them I’m due for a full exam anyway (it’s been over 2 years since my last pap). I got there 15 mins early, then they had me wait for an hour and half after my appointment time for the doctor to come in and say she took so long because she was reviewing my history (yet she had to ask me when my c-section was and where it was done-01/2020 at MWH-by one of their office’s doctors as ALL of my prenatal care was), that the ER always says to follow up with your OB, but that doesn’t mean you really need to, and to come back in January for an exam-although my last one was two years ago. They asked ME to come in TODAY and made me miss two hours of work for literally NO reason.
I feel like none of the people that had a bad experience were under Dr. Smiths care. He was my OB for my first pregnancy in 2009. I was very young and had never planned on having kids, so I had no idea what to expect. He was there for EVERY prenatal appointment (except for just one), he was at the hospital while I was in labor and made sure I was comfortable and received my epidural in a timely manner, he came back over 20 hours later at 4 am to deliver my baby boy, he even did the circumcision! He was always present and I couldnt have asked for a better way to become a first time parent. Now 7 years later I am pregnant with my second (and last) and I wouldnt want to go to anyone else! I was a little late starting my prenatal care, I was already 15 weeks pregnant. The first appointment I got every test possible and an ultrasound. A week later I found out I am having a healthy baby girl (I knew it!) NO one has ever been rude to me, even when I had difficulty with my insurance company. The wait times CAN be long, but I would rather wait and have a great pregnancy experience :)
My experience here was OK, but as a first-time pregnant woman, I wanted more than OK. Two appointments ran more than three hours long, much of which was spent waiting. Even the first appointment of the day came with a wait -- and a waiting room filled nearly to capacity. Theres actually a second waiting room in the back where you get sent between procedures, etc., and once I was forgotten. That added about a half hour to an already long appointment. In many ways, it felt like a bicycle factory--lets turn out as many as we can. I never received any literature on what foods and medicines I should avoid and it was never discussed. (Maybe it was up to me to ask.) A small thing, but they also dont do appointment reminders.Having said all that, the staff was always very nice, including those who answer the phones and book appointments. The midwife was also very nice and took time with me, which I appreciated. And I really adored the phlebotomist; never minded having her draw my blood -- she was good at it and she was always very personable. As I said, an OK experience. I decided at 18 weeks to go somewhere else.
I’m currently 39 weeks. I went there for an ultrasound today the nurse was extremely harsh on my stomach. She was poking my stomach to wake the baby up for movements. She was rude and unprofessional. They were not communicating with me about anything then when I asked questions it’s like I’m bothering them. Why come to work if you can’t do your job right? I’m due in 5 days and asked about my inducement if the baby isn’t ready and nobody never answered my question. This place has horrible service. I’m better off delivering my own baby smh
If I could choose no stars I certainly would. Worst experience with a medical facility I have ever had, at two of their locations. Figured the first visit was a fluke, went back to give them another try. Please seek treatment elsewhere. My teenage daughter received a disturbing ultrasound report and they lost it, did they would call and didn’t, said they would call us again and didn’t, rescheduled her appointment THREE TIMES, and when we finally got there almost two months later, they wouldn’t see her at all because she forgot a mask. Mind you, this is 8/2022. No mask shortages, no understanding our frustration, no apologies for mishandling the case, nothing. The secretary pointed to the waiting room and said, “All of them remembered masks.” Wowwwww
I had a wonderful experience with my midwife Casey Harrison. She was extremely supportive and caring throughout my entire pregnancy. When I went into labor, she came in and spent her entire Saturday there with us to deliver the baby even though she wasn’t the dr on call that weekend. She helped me have my ideal natural birth and made the entire experience of childbirth that much more special. If you truly want to feel listened to and supported throughout your pregnancy and labor and beyond, see Casey!
Been going here for like 2 or 3 years cause not many options in the burg. Not ever coming back. Waited over an hour in the waiting room despite having an appointment. Then waited for an hour in the room. They didnt wanna refill my birth control cause i needed a pap despite me telling them i had to reschedule my pap cause i just started my period and needed the refill asap since i was on my last week of my current pack. The doctor didnt even speak to me just handed me a prescription and said i could go. The doctor I was seeing was always rude and seemed in a rush. They diagnosed me with PCOS and didnt even bother to ask to schedule an appointment with me to talk about what that even means. Just told me over the phone to lose some weight and stay on birth control. Had to look online for info about it. Just overall i always leave unhappy. Its a shame but i dont think Ill be coming back. Also the staff just all seem annoyed and are always loudly bad mouthing patients. The only good thing i can say is that there is one really sweet young woman who works at the front desk who was always kind to me.
If I could give them 0 stars I would. Being a new patient I didnt mind the wait at all, it was pretty normal. What wasnt normal was how unprofessional this team of people are. From them talking about my personal information in the hall way (where other people could hear) to the ultrasound lady telling me that my situation was a hot mess. Then telling me the worse news possible in the most insensitive way. I will never step foot back into this establishment, and I dont recommend anyone else to either.
If you want someone who will be personable, kind and caring then see Casey! She is absolutely amazing! She isn’t currently taking care of me during my second pregnancy And I’m having the best experience. I also was under their care For my first pregnancy and had absolutely no complaints then either. The entire staff makes you feel welcomed and is very kind.
I had experiences with a few doctors there while I was pregnant. Each one I felt truly didnt care whether my child and I were healthy. Refusing to do any type of ultrasound after 20 weeks while I had intermittent abdominal pain, and was just shooed off saying I was fine with no check up of any kind. Then extremely low levels of amniotic fluid that I had mentioned at 32 weeks after a self paid private ultrasound, that was also dismissed as me being a first time mom, that lead to an almost dry birth. Also having to have an emergency c-section after almost 40 hours of labor and 4.5 hours of pushing. Then afterwards watching one of the male doctors get angry at me that the doctor that was on call the day before did not do my sons circumcision. All around I was a negative experience. The only doctor that was wonderful was Dr Nyung who isnt there anymore.
I would give 0 stars if I could. Every visit I had with this place was a nightmare. Everyone is rude, your questions usually dont get answered and when they do its with sarcasm or a negative demeanor. I was also put in a room to wait on a papsmear and the cart had the previous persons swabs and trash on it still! The nurse noticed it when she came back in, nonchalantly apologized and placed me in another room. The bathroom is never cleaned it seems. They loudly talk about your personal business in the hall for qll to hear which is very embarrassing. And to top it off, they told me at 38 weeks that they no longer take my insurance (which has never changed) and I would have to find a new doctor. Please believe as stressful as that was it was a blessing!
I had medical concerns throughout my pregnancy that made every single day miserable. The Doctor never took my concerns seriously and was very dismissive. Even once a potential treatment plan had been found to be helpful I was discouraged from following through on it due to pricing. I regret not finding another Doctor or practice that was more caring and would have been more supportive of a treatment that could have saved me 9 months of pure agony.
I have been coming here for over 10 years and Dr. Kil is amazing! I wouldnt trust anyone else with my lady parts he has kept me from cancer on many occasions and has gotten me to a point where I can finally try and get pregnant! His bedside manner is very to the point which I love cause he tells me what I need to hear while also being sensitive to my feelings as well... I feel my doctor is not only my doctor but has also become almost a part of my family... I know live past Richmond and still take the hour and half drive to see him... the day he chooses to retire I will be crushed I really do love him not only as a doctor but as my friend!
I have been a patient for almost 10 years and have had a great experience. Dr. Shuman is my doctor but I have seen many others in this office and I have to say they have always been very helpful and explained everything in detail so as to answer most of my questions before I even asked. There is one thing I would recommend for patients going to this office, which is to be aware that these doctors specialize in Pregnancy and are on call at Mary Washington Hospital on days that they are seeing patients in the office, so please be patient with the staff as if a mom goes into labor they may be called away to deliver and if there is an emergency during your pregnancy or you go into labor during office hours you would want for your doctor to be there for you too. Yes it is frustrating to make an appointment and to be told when I got there that my doctor had been delayed and would not be back for an hour, but I was offered the option to see another doctor or to wait for mine. Love this place and would recommend them to anyone looking for an OB-GYN
I love this doctors office, been going here since my first pregnancy and now im expecting baby number 3 and they have been great just like with my first pregnancy. Reason im only giving four stars is because there is a nurse there that is rude and ask personal questions which truly are none of her concern. I felt she was out of line but other then that one problem its great. Dr.Smith is a great doctor and Dr. Nyung whos currently not there because shes on vacation, but if I have any issues they take care of them. I absolutely love nurse Wendy and Alicia they are very nice and professional as well as being very understanding with scheduling my appointments.
Doctor didnt have the time for me. I spoke with the receptionist and explained that the pregnancy was unexpected and I would be moving in a month but I wanted to get my first appointment scheduled to confirm the pregnancy and make sure that everything was going okay. I was told that I was going to get a urine and blood test and was scheduled with Dr. Shuman. I arrive at my appointment and everything was fine, the bathroom could use some cleaning. When I was greeted by Dr. Shuman she told me that we would have a discussion about supplements and the blood tests and talk about my next appointment. I then explained again of my situation. AS SOON as she found this out she stopped the appointment and just sent me over to get an ultrasound. I asked her if I needed bloodwork and she said by the time I saw the next doctor when I moved I should get the blood work which by the way I would have been ending my first trimester. She gave no prescription for prenatals and didnt talk any further about my pregnancy or how I was doing or the baby. I guess if they werent getting money then they didnt care. I rarely write reviews and this is my first pregnancy and experience with a doctor. Needless to say I confirmed that I am going to a birthing center where they actually care. It was a waste of my time.
I used to like this place, and recommend them. That is until my doctor started ignoring my complaints about the pain I was in. He even went as far to tell me to stop having rough sex! I left that day just in shock that he had the audacity to talk to me like that. How dare he insulting me as a female, when you are a doctor for females!!!!!! I even went back to him after that. I had my IUD taken out, hoping the pain would stop. He still did minimal testing to seek the answers I needed.I have since found a new doctors office, who without even questioning me, did the testing and then put me in for a laparoscopy. Turns out I had endometriosis. It was a genuine reason to be in pain! I really liked my Dr before he started to treat me like my complaints meant nothing. When a woman complains for months about pain please heed their words. Me however, I am done with that doctor, and this place.Oh, and be prepared to wait here. I am a patient person, so i was willing to deal with that. BUT, if you insult me, and treat me like my issues dont matter, I will drop you like a bad habit. Why pay a fool to treat me in a negative manner? Id be the fool then..
First prenatal appointment took 3 hours. Took an hour to get called back, then waited another half hour to see a doctor (took 10 minutes). Waited again to get my sonogram done (took another 10 minutes) they will only allow you have 3 pictures because the paper is very expensive. I was also told be the sonographer that at 9 weeks the placenta had not yet formed. I then waited again to get my blood drawn. By the time I was finally finished I was asked to leave out the back door because everyone left for lunch. The worst doctors experience of my life, the only feed back I could get was that since it was my first appointment it would take long, 3 hours is beyond long. I have 2 children and my first appointments for them did not take that long, the only reason I had to switch from my other obgyn office is because we moved.
I’m leaving two stars solely because I enjoyed Carla, the PA, who is no longer with them… I went in on the 1st to request birth control, specifically, Nexplanon. The office said it would take a month to get in office and implant. I’ve never heard of that but I said ok.. I called yesterday to follow up as I haven’t heard anything. The office said I was denied on the 5th and couldn’t explain why nor tell me why they didn’t call me and inform me. Their charge nurse, Liz was clearly insincere , unapologetic and did not care to help me further... I called my insurance who said the office NEVER submitted my claim and that they do in fact cover Nexplanon.. At best this office is incompetent and at worst they are actively preventing prescribing birth control. Don’t waste your time with them.
I will never go back to that place again in my life! When i found out i was pregnant i searched for a obygn and located this place and it was the complete worst experience of my life. I had a miscarriage and the doctor i dealt with was very insensitive. This was my first time being pregnant so having a miscarriage was completely devastating and i didn’t get any support from them. I asked my doctor to give me time off from work because i was still bleeding, passing tissue, cramping, and having a hard time emotionally and he would not support that, he said nothing was medically wrong with me to be out of work. I was treated like i was “just a number” 1 of the billion people in the world that had a miscarriage and like i should just get over it. I definitely won’t recommend this place, especially not Dr. Smith, which is who i dealt with.
I dont usually write reviews, but Im livid with my recent experience here. This office has been flawed for quite a long time. There was a quack doctor that used to work there that falsified test results, among other things. The nursing staff is very judgemental, rude & inefficient. It took DAYS for them to get my prescription sent to my pharmacy. Spoke to a nurse about it in person & on the phone & she was extremely rude, had this funky expression fixed on her face & was instantly dismissive to everything I had to say.I will say that when I was pregnant they were great, Dr. Smith is the best there, he did a wonderful job. But, as long as the staff is as terrible as they are, I dont plan to return. There shouldnt be special treatment for specific patients and they need to re-evaluate their choices in staffx no one should be treated as theyve treated people.
Dr Smith is very good, I would definitely recommend, used him my entire pregnancy. I ended up having to get a C section and Dr. Shuman preformed at Mary Washington, (she was the Dr on call) Dr. Smith Came and checked in with us at the hospital even when he wasnt on call. Nice practice, you do wait a little bit sometimes but the doctors and nurses are very nice.
I think that all of these negative posts are on here because people like to focus on the negative instead of the positive, and will only speak up when there is an issue.I have been seeing Dr. Shuman here since I was a young teenager (my mom thought since I started my period then for some reason that meant I was having sex). With that being an awkward first visit for me, Dr. Shuman and all of the other staff were extremely wonderful to me, and always are. I have never had to sit in the waiting room for more than 5 minutes and in the exam room for more than 10. When those who have been there since I started going there are working, they still remember me even though its been almost a year since they have seen me, or more! Dr. Shuman is so wonderful and always helpful; she even got excited for me when she thought I was going to start trying to have a baby (it was a miscommunication). The receptionists are always so nice and helpful. I have never had a problem there. As far as billing goes, I only had 1 issue and that was resolved immediately with the help of the staff at RWHC. I recommend this office to any and every woman who like great, friendly healthcare.
Please do not bother coming here. The staff is rude. The wait time is long. The people in billing made me go through hoops to make a payment plan, only for them to screw that up somehow. Dana Taylor is okay, she was with me for two pregnancies, but the last one ended in c section. Dr. Shuman did my c section and apparently she did an amazing job. never saw her again. Dr. Niang is spoon nice. I love her as a person, but she messed up my sons circumsicion so I have to get it redone in 3 months. Which I wouldnt mind too much except that they are still billing me $500!!! Avoid coming here!
The people in the billing department are very rude and dismissive. Had my account sent to collections after I was confirmed to be on a payment plan. What a nightmare for someone who recently delivered and has plenty of hospital bills to pay.On top of that, every single pregnancy apt I had, I was waiting 30+ minutes before even being seen. Staff is a joke. Theyll laugh at you in your face.Needless to say I wont be returning.
I absolutely loved Rappahannock womens center. Dr. Smith is hands down the best Dr I have had. I moved out of state and still call. Im puzzled why anyone would or could give a bad review. We all have been first time moms. She was feeling the normal abdominal pains. But anyhow, I would recommend this place. Not only a Dr but he gave great tips and advice about anything. And if he is not sure he will find out.
I’ve loved every physician I’ve interacted with, they’ve all made me feel comfortable and like I was their priority. Never felt rushed. Some complain about waiting past their appointment times but that just shows they’re taking their time with each of their patients and I’m sure you would appreciate the extra time spent with you too!
Dr Pyatek refused to treat my wife who had a fetal demise at 8 months. She later had 103 plus temp and treated for high blood pressure and was admitted for 3-4 days at UVA hospital
Julie Weathers is the best midwife ever!!!!My husband and I are so grateful to say Julie and the nurses from MWH delivered our little angel. She approaches everything with a lovely demeanor that is never alarmist and always soothing and happy. If you are planning to deliver your baby with her you are in good hands.
The visit was fine, Doctor fine with no real issues here however the exam was very limited with no physical exam for a 1st time visit. The office staff however is not up to standards. Very limited education on billing and proper procedures. Tried to scam a bill into collections early and with out proper notification that the insurance had not paid the remaining balance. Sent letter on the 5th went to pay after speaking with them on the phone that they had returned mail (not my fault) I informed them I would come it to pay the balance which I did only to find they had already sent it to collections. Why did you not say this on the phone? The letter stated 14 days and I was within that time frame. Extremely grateful I kept the letter and envelope with post mark date. That should look real good to a Judge. Very unprofessional and shows a lack of educated knowledge on the staff. I guess it is true, good help is hard to find.
Normally I dont write reviews. But Im really upset with the level of service received at RWHC. Ive been going here since I was a teenager and my mom has also been a patient for a long time. The office is always overbooked and understaffed. You may as well forget about having an appointment time. The office staff is rude, unprofessional, and do nothing to alleviate the stress from going to such an overcrowded office. This is every single time. Every visit. But my most recent visit was that and then some. This time around I waited an hour for my appointment which lasted only 10 minutes. No big surprise. But then I get a bill from LabCorp. For the entire visit. After the receptionist told me my insurance covers the visit and I dont owe a copay.Come to find out they filed under my old insurance even though I provided them the new insurance information.I call after hours and leave a message with the answering service for them to call me to get it straightened out. I submit a claim form online through LabCorps billing website with a confirmation email saying I will get a response within 72 hours from somebody.Nothing.So I call the doctors office... Three different ladies answer the phone, put me on hold, pass me around, and shout to each other from within the office. One answers and says hello? so I respond the same and Im asked if Im Ms. Washington. Which Im not.Real professional. After having to get an attitude with the girl who told me that they dont deal with the billing through LabCorp they just send the insurance info (they sent the wrong insurance info), I provide my insurance info for her to send to them and give me a call back.... But she said it probably wont be same day. Surprise?Lets see if they bother to call me or just send me to collections.
I went in for a routine preventative pap-smear appointment (which is a FREE procedure per law and with my health care provider). The visit felt like an OBGYN drive-thru (very impersonal). A few weeks later I received a bill from the office as well as LabCorp for the services because Rappahanock used incorrect billing codes. The billing manager, Carolyn, advises me she is taking care of it and will call back but never does. Just spoke with LabCorp and they advised it only takes a 5 minute phone call for them to fix it - it still hasn’t been taken care of by them. RAPPAHANNOCK WOMEN’S CENTER IS UNPROFESSIONAL AND I DO NOT RECOMMEND.
Horrible experience... On my way to this practice I unfortunately threw up on my mask so when I came in needed a new one. After waiting 5 minutes to get someone attention I ask d for a mask and they tell me I have to get one... They dont care where I get it from I just cant be seen if I dont have one. WE ARE IN A DOCTORS OFFICE. Im in disbelief in how underdeveloped the interpersonal skills are... They should find a different face for this place bc the have no clue how to deal with people. I recommend going to elite womens health. They are the best and for sure would have politely provided a mask.
Odd to read many of these reviews. Ive been seeing Dr. Esposito for 7+ years now. I LOVE everyone I deal with at this office, especially her. Ive never had to wait long, never had an issue with billing/records, and they go above and beyond to help deal with other physicians for me. Im 8 mos pregnant and very happy with my care. Everyone Ive recd Dr. Esposito to has loved her as well.
Very disappointed with this practice. Can not keep anyone that is good. My last one was Dana Taylor - awesome! but she left. Unfortunately I got Leslie Meyers she was okay........she only works two days a week. She switched me to a different birth control and i havent had a period really??????? oh and she called me and acted like i was crazy and laughed at me.
Stay far away from this doctor’s office!!! My wife contacted this office to schedule an annual physical and explained exactly what she needed accomplished during the appointment to ensure it would be covered under an Annual Physical to which the doctor’s office replied, “no problem, come on in”. When she showed up at her scheduled appointment time she again verified that she was there for an annual physical and after an extended wait of 2 hours she was finally taken back to see the doctor. After receiving $1,200 worth of bills related to this visit I can say the billing practices carried out by this office are incredibly deceiving at best. The visit was incorrectly coded as a DXcode General Office Visit Injury instead of the correct Preventative Annual Physical DXcode. Additionally, we were charged for all of the tests that are typically carried out for free during the annual physical due to their coding. The office billing department blatantly refuses to resubmit to our insurance with the correct coding. This office also ran additional blood work that my wife never agreed to and in the opinion of her endocrinologist this doctor has absolutely no business running the blood tests they ran. We have been to other doctors since this appointment and they are amazed by this story and say this office it simply trying to use coding to get more money from the insurance companies and screw their patients in the process, from the other reviews on here it seems this is not far from the truth. This is the worst experience we have ever had with a doctor’s office. What this office did is blatant insurance fraud and abuse. If you are planning to go to this office you would be better served having someone hit you in the head with a lead pipe and stealing your wallet! Buyer beware!
I have been with this practice since before my first child was born... Shes 14 yrs old. In all of that time, Ive never had a bad experience. Staff has always been polite, Dr. Shuman is phenomenal! Ive recommended this practice to others and will continue to do so.
Only thing good to say about RWHC is Dr. Esposito. I wish she would open her own practice and get a new facility. The nurses have countless times provided me with false information and then called back saying something totally different. They don’t call you back immediately with results and having to call in to ask isn’t great customer service. Having them call prescriptions in for BC is always wrong and takes days. They don’t know how to read charts and answer important questions. Always friendly staff when you are there but if you aren’t right in front of them the customer service goes down the drain. Looking to go elsewhere even if it’s giving up the best DR I’ve found.
I called to schedule a appointment and they lady on the phone was absolutely rude. I was asking questions regarding birth control that led to a smart remark and then I said thank you and the conversation ended with her saying “mmhm” and hung up. I have been going here since I was 16 and I am now 21 and I am switching to a new OB because I have given them years for approval and they has not been any progress since
I went to rappahannock for care during pregnancy. I lost the baby and when I actually had my miscarriage it landed me in the hospital where they told me there was nothing they could do and to see Dana the next day. Dana wasnt in the next day so I scheduled an apt for the day after. That night things became complicated again and the on call doctor was extremely rude and told me to go back to the ER and to tell them they dont know what they are doing. So I call the hospital hotline and they once again tell me there is nothing they can do and to see Dana. The next day I called to get an earlier appt and was told they didnt have a wheelchair to help me in and I was not able to walk so once again I was told to go to the ER and I tried to explain they keep telling me they cant do anything for me but I was rudely cut off and transferred back and forth and never able to speak to Dana even though the nurse said she was standing right next to her. After being tossed around and getting No care I called another gynecologist who saw me immediately and even came to the hospital with me to give me the d&c I needed and blood transfusion and fluids. Rappahannock was great, until I actually needed care. They really let me down and I will never return
The wait time in the office is long. Count on waiting at least 30 to 45 minutes past your appointment. Many people would be waiting in the waiting room with you. The receptionists in the front are not very helpful and not friendly. They dont seem to have any idea about healthcare services provided by their doctors. I made an appointment for an OB-GYN doctor and was given a nurse practitioner instead. I was not told the doctor was not available til time for me to go to her office. Apparently the doctor has had something else scheduled long time before. The nurse basically went over all those things I already knew from reading magazines and newspapers. The following year I made my annual exam and the doctor asked me why I did not have a bone density exam last year when my test two years back said I was borderline osteoporotic. Seems to be the nurse would have written me out a lab slip for that.
Dana Taylor and Julie Weathers were my midwives. Dana delivered my baby vaginally and they are both saints!! Best dr i have had hands down. Such a smooth delivery! The office and staff are amazing!
Had doctor Esposito here. Everything was good and she was understanding. However blood tests results couldve more accurately said instead withholding information from. Im already planning to move on to Womens Health and Surgery Center since Dr. Esposito isnt here anymore which is an option unless giving them another chance. Theres honesty issues however that needs improvement instead of lying to patients.Having been diagnosed with Menometrrohagia and the ovarian cyst years earlier before having Dr. Kristin Esposito at Central Virginia OB/GYN what across the them by Dr. Hector Colon in 2008 or 2009. Blood results of 2019/2018 had blood sugar, and the platelets were abnormaly higher than usual. Menometrrohagia could mean that I could a higher risk OB Factor patient whenever I became a mom which can a be in the term of thrice amount of the average pregnant woman. Although children free, still happen to be become high risk Gyn patient because of hereditary issues throughout the change of life yet to come. This year COVID-19 Pandemic has been a living nightmare for non-pregnant women which can cause them become a higher priority than the pregnant women. Stress and anxiety is also part of the living nightmare of COVID-19 Pandemic which can disrupt normal phase of menstruation. The non-pregnant women have known to state that abnormal disturbances, more painful than normal, from heavy to no period cyclic phases are also reported including severe or intensed PMS. Its saying that COVID 19 virus itself interfere with normal menstrual cyclic phases like the Influenza A or B viral group. Still note that the OB population is still at high risk, however the COVID-19 Pandemic virus have been known to be more severe in the non-pregnant women or GYN population based on personal experiences of different individuals. MEDSCAPE and other medical news sources could inform the potential strange, and true symptoms of COVID 19! Some are also chicken pox like blisters, earache, skin changes, and a number of over 90 different kinds of symptoms to experienced as it seems to mutate in a higher degree making the list expansion longer. The worse of the extreme worsening conditions are yet to happen regarding COVID 19 Pandemic and many other struggles 1 Timothy 3:1-5,13 explains that critical times hard to deal with will be here, and advancing from bad to worse. However back to the ovarall preview: The well woman check-ups and visits were pleasant with Dr. Kristin Esposito. Also take note that after one generation to the next, Eves Curse upon women menstruation and pregnancy seems to advance from bad to worse. Eventually women dont always know to distinguish the between a normal menstruation, and pregnancy in either single and unmarried women. Whats worse in the upcoming generations might be different from what term worse is described now because all thanks to Eve at Genesis 3:1-5. Jehovah is going to fix this problem one of the days at Revealation 21:1-5, and he keeps his promises.
Love Dr. Snider and Dr. Jae Kil. They took great care of my baby boy and I. They listened, took their time, kept me informed, and made sure I was comfortable. I recommend them to everyone!
Unsanitary practices from the nurse. Exam Room appeared subpar. Unprofessional atmosphere in from the nurses. Waited for almost an hour in the exam room before finally walking out!! The girl at the front desk was the only professional I came in contact with during my visit.
Trying to deal with their billing people is an absolute nightmare!! For the last year we have tried to tell them to bill our health care provider, Care First. Instead they continue to try and bill Blue Cross, who continues to deny their claim. So after a year of telling them over and over again what to do, they decide to just place the bill into collection. So, now we have to deal with their inability to do their job correctly!! What a nightmare!
This OB/GYN office needs a HUGE upgrade with there professionalism! There nursing staff is so disrespectful and rude. I will be changing the Doctor I see there immediately, I really hate to do so because the Doctors there are well respected and dedicated to there job, but there nursing staff members need huge improvement.
Love, Love, Love the care that I have received there for the last 8 years at RWHC. Dr.Meyer is wonderful and very attentive. Dr. Esposito is awesome also, they both took and take the best care of me and all their patients.
Heard nurses speaking loudly, inappropriately about myself & other patient through the walls. incredibly rude & impatient doctors. did not take me seriously for YEARS about a very painful condition. do not recommend.
2 hr wait time when there was barely anyone there, just for a quick prenatal checkup, made my appt to see “midwife” Carla as I am low risk but she scheduled my next appt with an obgyn without my consent, and last but not least I overheard the front desk and midwife speaking about me and laughing out loud, very unprofessional and I will not return.
So far so good. Dr. Michael Smith is HILARIOUS and the nurses are very kind. The wait time wasnt too long, and I was in and out in no time! So glad I found this place.
I was referred to Dr. Jae Kil about a year ago and every appointment is the best. They are knowledgeable, respectful and always understanding and 🧭 . I love dr. Kil he sees me and my daughter. I have the best experience.
I was there February the 5 to get on bc and it is March 8 and I am still waiting for my birth control and they told me it would take two weeks for my birth control to come in I am extremely irritated and I also told her that I would like to get on some kind of birth control before my other one came in but I haven’t gotten any birth control I am extremely upset And tired of waiting I called 3 times today to ask if my birth control was in and it was And I was told it wasn’t and I CALLED CVS specialist and it was delivered at 9:58 am I extremely irritated because they told me that they would call me a soon as it came in so that I can get it put in my arm that day I am going there tomorrow after I get off work and I am making them put it in my arm because I have been waiting for so long it is now the 15th
Ive been going to these wonderful ladies and gentlemen for years now, and have yet to be disappointed. They are wonderful doctors and the staff is very lovely. I wouldnt go anywhere else as a pregnant patient.
I had a great time with them. They took care of me and were very helpful with my treatment and complications. I will definitely go back to them.
Absolutely worse service! They put my on a med thats not agreeing with me and I have been calling for over an hr and no freaking answer! How do you run a practice like this!
I called to schedule an appointment as a new patient and the receptions told me that they can only do a few new patients a week it would be weeks or months before I could even “think” about seeing a doctor... so unprofessional
I sat there for a hour and 1/2 before I was seen then when I talked to the doctor Hes said you are pregnant then looked at my son and asked how old is he I said 1 and 2 months he said you get around dont you...I think that was very unprofessional and disrespectful I will never go back to this office again
I’d give 0 stars if I Could everyone here is rude and will be going somewhere else front desk lady is horrible. Place is the worse!
The doctors are good but the front desk workers are the rudes over the phone and in person .
The majority of the staff is very rude and unprofessional. They also often run very late. I dont recommend them to anyone.
Such a rude receptionist that works in there. No customer service manners whatsoever. Will never be back.
Worst place for care in virginia!!!!
Trash practice, go somewhere else
Dr. Meyer is the exception.
The doctors and nurses are wonderful
